update
A bit of an update, we will be delaying the zine, for how long we aren’t sure. Its best for the zine & for everyone. It will give us a chance to regroup and get a bigger & stronger mod team on board to help with the work load behind the scenes to make this zine run smoothly.
We will be reopening mod applications to get a team to help not only run the zine but help sort & organize what is happening. If you are interested or know someone who is willing to lend a hand it will be a great help to us.
The link to applications can be found in the link tree

Imagine if Bart as Impulse somehow also got the abilities of Plastic man. He'd be unstoppable.

Angel McDunnagh is such a nothing character, lmao. Her only personality traits:
1. Blonde
2. Plas’ ex-wife and mother to his child
3. Angry
Those are the only things shown about her in the 4 pages she existed in her entire comic career. 4 pages. And dialogue bubbles in like 2 other books. Amazing to me.
To me, it’s just part of how DC treats Plastic Man. In Joe Kelly’s JLA, his goal really seemed to make Plastic Man look like the absolute WORST. Like it’s probably where the worst traits people see him as took hold, as it feels like Kelly hated Plastic Man, and you can tell. So of course, what does he add? A stripper ex who hates him, and a son he abandoned at birth. And I KNOW the feeling that the “stripper” part was just another thing to make him look bad, like “oh he doesn’t date the highest class of people, har har.” It sometimes feels like no one at DC saw Plastic Man as an actual character and more of a punching bag. (It was the same run that shattered him and left him at sea for 3000 years)
And it’s odd to me that both writers for Terrifics, Jeff Lemire and Gene Luen Yang, didn’t do anything with her. Yeah Lemire introduced her, but he still kept her at a basic personality, only adding in the “Plastic Man actually helped raised his son” thing. And Yang wrote a scene that implied Plas still misses Angel on some level, but again he doesn’t do anything with it, or her. It just sucks.
What’s amusing is that the closest we could’ve gotten to Angel getting some actual character was in the 2018 mini, because Plas literally dates a blonde stripper in the book, but because DC editorial hates us, they made Gail Simone (the writer) not use any actual Plastic Man characters.
I wish someday someone will actually see Plastic Man as an actual character, and try to flesh out and expand what little supporting cast he has. Just something.
