Regarding the mate for life what you said about elemer , I remember reading a fic where Mc was going back home and was in love with Floyd who also loved MC but didn't want to confess as they are leaving for their world. But like confessed to Mc when they tried to leave and then mated with them without telling them eels can mate only once and left for the night (this happened in octo dorm) and cried to Jade who went and told MC what it meant and for plot twist MC decided to stay back for Floyd after hearing that!!

When I read your story about this immediately in my mind and I started squeeling a lot !! Like thank you cause I feel like this is an underrated trope TwT

Also when you mentioned you're latino and then I wanted to ask you a question do latinos also have this rule (more like tradition) where they can't share family recipes unless they're married (if yes , poor Azul , he has to sign a marriage contract for forever for some recipes XD, the tweels find this out and tease him a lot)

I think I'm faintly aware of the fic you're talking about, I may have read it a while ago. It's a neat trope for sure, though I don't think I'd make it my headcanon for all my writings with the twins, but for some for sure.

As for the food thing, I can't speak for other Latinos, but no it's not a thing in my family. Latinos includes a large variety of countries and cultures, so there may be a few that follow such a rule, I'm pretty sure it's more of a family thing than anything. My family did grow up with a half-joke/rule that one you can cook, you can get married (“ahora ya te puedes casar”)

I do like it as a trope though, Azulito is so desperate to make an earning out of your cultural cuisine, unique to you and foreign to everyone else. Do you know just how much money he could make?! What do you mean you can't share them with him unless you get married??

Azul's drafting up an engagement contract, half out of wanting the recipes and half using it as an excuse to fulfill his domestic dream with you. His pen breaks as he hears from Jade how both Trey and Jamil have been making moves on you for the same reason as he. Maybe he should start trying to woo you and prove that he's the best option out of your three suitors.

A Gulpin line review pls? :>

Am I the only one who thinks these guys are really cute? Like, it's not just me, right? Look at those little :ധ faces! As creatures that are basically the land version of gulper eels they're pretty objectively horrifying, which makes the contrast between their behavior and their expressions all the funnier.

Visually, both stages of this line are super simple. Gulpin is literally just a blob with a yellow feather-like protrusion and a black diamond on its back. However, this makes sense for it, given that it's basically just a stomach with a face. The feather and diamond help break up the body a bit, and I like how the shape of the mouth is repeated by the nub arms.

Swalot is basically just a bigger Gulpin, but it does change just enough to feel distinct by being a poison-type appropriate purple and having a bigger body, more diamonds, open eyes, and whiskers. It still keeps all of Gulpin's unique elements as well, like the mouth. I like the small mouth in particular because it's pretty true-to-nature—most creatures with big mouths keep them hidden until the last second.

My only real complaint with Swalot (which also applies to Gulpin, though to a lesser extent) is that the colors feel a bit off; it has red eyes, yellow whiskers, and black diamonds, all of which feel pretty disconnected to each other. It would've been nice if the black diamonds were yellow or something so the color palette wasn't so messy. Still, overall enjoyable.

One thing I think this line could use is an evolution. It feels fine as a two-stager but there's no reason to stop it there, and Swalot's design feels simple enough to build upon for an evo. Something like a mega could also work.

Anyway, overall, some fun and cute fantasy creatures with some neat biology.

the fact that the script goes out of the way to mention 'weasel-like' is very interesting!! especially due to the fact that his original role was 'the schemer' so i google weasel symbolism and what do i see???

BAM so now i'm sat here thinking, 'holy crap. we were absolutely robbed.' not to sound like a broken record or anything cause i see this mentioned a lot but they could have done so much with this and yet its NEVER brought up again for some reason?? it would have been so cool to see this get elaborated on more

anyway it also makes him calling out alejandro for his 'slippery' behaviour even funnier because YOU were supposed to do that 😭😭😭 i really wish they would have used noah's character more in s1 especially because the hypocrisy would have been sooo funny

SLIMERIANA IN MY MERMAID AU!!!

SO!!! Slime is a human and Mariana is a mermaid. Mariana specifically is inspired by a banana eel because it's yellow kinda like his mc skin's suit. also he's got a red-ish gradient going up his arms + claws because it's my favorite character design thing + matches his mc skin more. Mariana doesn''t have glasses but he does have impaired vision as far as mermaids go.

Mermaids can see super far because the ocean is vast and they need to be able to see if someone is coming to kill them u know? Mariana can still see that far but everything is just blurrier for him especially the more far away it is. his other senses are slightly heightened to make up for it + she probably uses something like echolocation underwater if she really can't see shit. i mentioned mermaids have claws as well and i need you to know that he paints them black. it's important to me (thinks of cc!mariana always having black nail polish).

Mariana has probably found a lot of junk in the ocean including some jewelry that people lose. she wears a few rings she's found as well for fun :)) she thinks they're neat. Mariana loves to people watch. he lives closer to the surface so he's about human sized and understand human speech very well but not how humans work. he never goes close to the beach when there's so many humans around but he likes to watch them and pick up on words they yell and say a lot.

Slime is not just some guy, he's some guy who also has a cousin that he's basically parenting and her name is Juanaflippa (he always takes care of her bc its like rich aunt/uncle who are always on vacation). Early in the mornings Slime usually runs along the beach to exercise and has captured the eye of our local mermaid Mariana.

Mariana’s favorite word to yell is "SHARK" because the humans in the water yell it so much. its funny. i bet one time after slime and marina know each other mariana yells SHARK and then drags slime into the water with her laughing. (her favorite thing to do is drag slime into the water). a different time she's hanging out with juanaflippa and she is teaching her swear words. Slime shows up and mariana yells "FUCK" with the enthusiasm of an 8 year old. he's so fucking happy and has zero clue what he just said. Juanaflippa is delighted. Slime needs a few seconds.

Mariana likes Slime because he usually talks loud and clearly so it’s easy for mariana to understand and he thinks he’s ✨pretty✨ but that comes secondary to messing with him. He'd also consider Juanaflippa to be apart of his "pod" aka family so he's basically like her parent (the other one being slime). Mariana took one look at Juanaflippa and got attached, plus she loves him so ya they get along well :))

green fall into a leadership role pretty easily here, it's honestly pretty cool how characterization is so consistent in this series even though there's no dialogue

the fact that the grey stick couldn't animate with the pencil makes sense (as far as i've seen it's a pretty common headcanon that animating is an orange thing), but they couldn't even move the drawing by pulling at it, which IS sort of weird, because i swear that other characters have done that before

possibly it's a computer-only-unless-you're-orange thing, or maybe only some sticks can do it? i'm pretty sure that the other example i'm thinking of is victim in ava1 so it could be either

Nintendo handing us wiglett: Us: oooooh there's so much potential! Love a garden eel! I have Thoughts about where this could go! Nintendo creating wugtrio: yeah, yeah, just slap a rock on a dugtrio, ta-da, done Me, staring into whoever made this decision's soul with utter contempt: what if I made it better than what you did with literally just one alteration (face placement). But you could have done so much more. Anyway, here's Wugtrio (Fixed edition. Literally just this change and it's so much better. It's so painful to know they were so close to it being at least okay and yet. Shifting the faces makes it more like wiglett, less like dugtrio, AND has the bonus of making it look like a grasping hand, fitting with its dex.) and pre-knowing-about-wugtrio evo ideas, Wigleel (single) and Wydra (pre- and post-wugtrio versions, though it's more like the post- version's a simplified version of the design.

Also while doing the post- version I found out about the slender finless eel and I think they're neat.

im so utterly fascinated with how orange's drawing powers have developed over time… like originally we saw them draw the whole frame (sometimes with help from their other constructs) but in the newest short the animals seem to develop more from intent [1].

the first one we see is the eels, and all second does is draw a big line like gilded guy and then there's a whole eel. which is pretty sick. i think the most interesting one to me though is the way they draw the shark. the jagged points are the teeth, and they're drawing out the volume of the shark, instead of just a line like for the eels.

the rhino is the one i think we see the least of how orange draws it, which is probably in part because of the awkward way they're holding the pen and perhaps they just didn't want to think about it. what we do see is that the lines already start moving before orange's done drawing it, and seem to even "help" them draw.

(the bird that's flung at hazard has 3 frames of being drawn by the way, and the motion of orange drawing is simultaneously used for the "throw," which is a pretty neat little trick).

i think it's arguable that this happens on a meta level because of "time constraint" for how orange HAS to draw these things before the mercenaries shoot them. this is true. but i also believe that it's meant to be a legitimate progression of their drawings.

Truthfully, my favorite of my humorous stories; I like this exchange a lot from when their van breaks down. It just eels like it really fits all of them.

I'm having dw au brainrot again so here's a merfolk au

First of all in this universe both humans and timelords are merfolk shapeshifters which means they can switch between humanoid form and their merfolk form. I only did this so it would better fit in with the nature of the canon universe. Can't exactly explore the universe when you can't even walk on land lol.

I will be providing pics of the animals for visual reference but obviously these are merfolk not just straight up fish, so until I draw them all you'll just have to use your imagination lol.

OK so here's a list of some companions and their respective aquatic form

Yaz - swordfish. Cus sword lesbian. Hehe

Graham - whale shark. This came to me in a dream. I can't explain it but it just feels right.

Ryan - honeycomb moray eel. Honestly I just think they look neat.

Nardole - green spotted pufferfish. Round. No other reason. Just round. Like nardoles egg head

Bill - spotfin lionfish. I wanted to pick something powerful, big, and beautiful (all for my baby bill ☺️) so I picked the classic highly venomous and ever extravagant spotfin lionfish.

Clara - (this one took me a long ass time but I finally settled on one) blue dragon nudibranch. This lil itty bitty may be tiny but they regularly eat the Portuguese man o war and store its venom in their little wings. When you get stung by them you get the same effects as a man o war sting which is not fun in case you don't know :)

Osgood - blanket octopus. They're big and colorful and gay and smart I just HAD to pick this for Os

Kate - orca. You know em, we all know em. Highly social and scarily intelligent, they're master hunters with complex behaviors, all of which reminded me of kate

big fakemon post??

when I was in high school, I wanted to make a fakemon region based on Canada. I still kinda do, but not nearly to the extent of interest I did then. Anyway, I have drawn and designed some fakemon that I am pretty proud of and thought it would be neat to share some of em

Geodot, Ohkoden, Minerodon > this pseudo-legendary line is based on the idea of a dragon with a den and hoard of gold, except the dragon is both! It starts as a smol geode, similar in appearance to Roggenrola. > ohko stone (aka dragonstone) is a rock that has a unique texture from water erosion. Erosion and refinement plays a role in this Pokemon's evolution, as it reveals the treasure hiding within. > the wing talons (?) gave me some trouble. I knew I wanted rocky, cavernous wings, but they originally looked very disconnected. Then I figured that, instead of having the talons on some arms from the serpentine body, I'd put them on the ends of the wings, giving this dragon similar anatomy to that of a wyvern. That choice really made the wings look cohesive. > I was originally going to have it be different colours rather than just gold, one for each stat (based on what its nature boosts). The forms would be called Amethyst Form, Ruby Form, Gold Form, etc. The thing about this was that I thought gold was the most relevant, since it is a dragon and gold is the goal in alchemy and all that fun stuff.

Migopu > Ice/Flying bc it lives in cold climates. > ptarmigan + lagopus makes its name. This is a mix of ptarmigans and the snowshoe hare, with ideas of snowshoes and skiing. The genus name Lagopus comes from hare+feet, based on how fluffy ptarmigans' feet are. That inspired me to give it the feet of a snowshoe hare, which are big enough to spread the hare's weight so that it does not sink in snow. > the colours are meant to reference rock ptarmigans, which have a bright bit of red on their faces in winter plumage. These Pokemon are excellent at walking on and sliding across the surface of deep snow.

Arboreelis > an eel that flies in the night skies of the region! it is meant to look like the colours of an aurora. There are two theories to how these Pokemon work: either they are drawn to the electricity that creates auroras, or they use their electrical powers to form auroras. > name comes from aurora borealis and eel. Ice/Electric because auroras are electrical phenomena in polar locations

Glubmerge, Glubmarine > fish + compass + sun dial + toy boat + submarine. kinda a random mix, but I think it's really cute. Water navigation fish! > Water type. glub + submerge, glub + submarine

Inkuaill > ink + inkwell + quill + quail > quills come from birds. this bird evokes paper, ink drops, inkwells, and the inking pens > I know I know I KNOW I already have a game bird but. they're completely different concepts ok > Normal/Poison because ink?? and because while it can fly, game birds are more known for being on the ground and running.

Frigeret, Boreabbit, Harfrost > HOARFROST! I mean mr rime has rime in its name which is the same thing just formed differently but,,, IDC we need some hoarfrost rep > what is winter throughout life? As a wee baby, it's a threat. The ears are meant to be like muffs or mittens, working to protect the blue-nosed baby. Frigeret (Normal) does not yet have mastery over ice. Even when awake, this little guy looks like it is permanently asleep, as if frozen. Frigid + leveret. (Note: hares are born with their eyes open. Frigeret can open its eyes tho?? idk i wanted it to look more frozen and cold, so the closed eyes thing is closer to rabbits here) > as a child, winter is the season of fun! Snowmen, snowballs, snowforts, sledding, skiing! When I was a kid, winter was my favourite season. The fun in this form is also based on Jack Frost, a sprite-like figure meant to explain the snow and cold in winter. This is what makes Boreabbit an Ice/Fairy type. Boreas + boreal + rabbit > getting older (even just as an adult), winter becomes more of an inconvenience. From driving to the cold to the later sun, the fondness of winter fades even before the aching bones from changing weather. Grouchy, Harfrost is meant to be closer to the idea of Old Man Winter. Still Ice/Fairy. hoarfrost + hare (ALSO the 'hoar' in hoarfrost means showing signs of aging!)

Nimbark, Halestial, Cirruscruff > cloud dogs? CLOUD DOG EVOLUTION LINE > Nimbark (Normal) is a lil spaniel with the big ears! These ears are so fluffy, they evoke clouds! One must be very careful when grooming because the ears are delicate but tangle easily. > Halestial (Normal/Flying) is a papillon dog! The big rounding ears are colourful, based on sun halos, also called sun dogs! These are rainbow circles around the sun, indicating a very cold day. > Cirruscruff (Normal/Flying) is a Newfoundland dog! Super big fluffy boy. It's super reliable and loyal to its trainer. These clouds are darker bc every image I see of a Newfie has dark fur > these bred dogs also represent the two main colonizing forces in Canada! Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are British bred dogs, and Papillons are French bred dogs. Newfies are Canadian dog breeds. > the idea of a fluffy, loyal, guardian angel cloud dog is based on my own dog, Merlin. He is a Morkie Poo, which doesn't really relate to this, BUT he is whitish and fluffy and soft and makes me think of clouds and I love everything about him and if I have a guardian angel dog it's this boi

SIDE 2B: ROUND 1: Floyd Leech (Twisted Wonderland)/Kanata Shinkai (Ensemble Stars) VS Adrien Agreste (Chat Noir) (Miraculous Ladybug)/Berry Shirayuki (Mew Berry) (Tokyo Mew Mew)

Propaganda for Floyd Leech/Kanata Shinkai:

sometimes human boy who is obsessed with the ocean and sea creatures despite the fact that he cannot swim and has nearly drowned on multiple occassions and a mermaid eel thing who is curious about human life/life on land and would disect a person if they'd let him should be allowed to hang out. neither of them are normal, in fact, in both of their sources, they are considered to be Weird Girls tm. they both have blue hair and pronouns and are the most silliest (read insane) guys ever. also kanata is an idol and floyd canonically was in a band and has played instruments. also they're both from rhythm games which is kind of neat too. this used to be a joke but when my friends who are fictives of floyd and kanata actually started dating i started drawing art of them because they asked me to love wins!

This is for my other mutual who is the reason I started watching Tokyo Mew Mew. Do you have any opinion on the Clamperl line(s)?

Clamperl is a pretty cute thing. There's really nothing to it other than Being a Clam, but it does have a pleasant design with the blue and pink combo. I think that it's neat that its head is effectively the pink pearl inside, which is surrounded by a good amount of fleshy clam bits. I also like that the blush marks are perfectly circular and the eyes are perfect half circles, so the whole thing has a visual pattern, especially with the semi-circular blue bits around it.

However, while I have no issues with Clamperl as a design, I do think it's a pretty bizarre pre-evo. Huntail and Gorebyss go together—similar body shape, similar tails with Huntail's even resembling Gorebyss' head, etc.—but them both evolving from a clam is very random. There's not much similarity between it and its evos either; the closest I can get is that the circular blush resembles Huntail's false eyespots, and obviously the colors split, but anything beyond that is a stretch.

(Also, I keep hearing people say that Clamperl is supposed to be an egg, but there's nothing in canon that supports or even suggests that. In fact, Spoink's pearls come from Clamperl, making it even more unlikely.)

The actual reason for this, as we'll get into later, is that most of these designs come from completely different unrelated lines that got slapped together during production. I like all of the designs well enough in isolation, but they really lack coherency when put together.

Huntail is definitely my favorite of these three. Vaguely based off a gulper eel, it keeps up with Clamperl's circle motif by including half-circle fins and spots all over its body. Like a lot of IRL deep-sea fish, the spots are actually bioluminescent, with the tail serving as a lure. Neat!

Beyond that, I like the orange accents and how they pop against the blue. The circles break up the body nicely without being overbearing, and the tiny dot eye matches the spots. Just nicely designed overall.

The Spaceworld demo shows that Gorebyss had a more gulper eel-like design originally and was the third stage in a completely different line. This line... is not any more coherent than the one we got, so no loss here. Huntail's finalized design is also much better than this prototype.

To make things even more of a mess, the first sunfish in this line had a completely different earlier evo line that had nothing to do with sharks or eels.

Gorebyss is all right, though not as good as Huntail. It's more or less a long-nosed chimaera, which is a neat inspiration for an animal, and it goes pretty well with Gorebyss. I like the palette again here and the delicate wispy parts coming off of its head.

I also like that it's actually a violent blood-sucking predator.

However, I really dislike that weird seashell bra thing it has. It breaks up the otherwise smooth body shape, is more detailed than anything else on its body, and why does a fish need a bra? I would say they're left over from Clamperl's shell, except the shape is completely different. It would've looked much better to have had more of the white stripes there, which would make the ones on its tail feel less out of place. You could also do a row of spots down its body instead, to further its connection to Huntail.

Anyway, overall, all of these lines are pretty good individually, with Huntail being the strongest and Gorebyss the weakest. Mostly it's just the lack of coherency that drags the line down a bit.

it is important to note than not ALL of floyd's nicknames are good, and not all of them are bad. but all of them are fitting. it's interesing, because if you know the general behavior of particular animals, their place in their ecosystems, their biolgy, and such? it will also tell you how floyd feels about that particular character. and it's really important not to view the sealife he chooses through a human lense. he isn't human, and thus all his opinions are based off of his own experience. and what he knows about the animals he picks for each person.

at one of the worst? riddle. goldfish are invasive, theyre horribly bred for captivity and domestication. once upon a time sure, they had their purpose, and their ancestors were different. but taking into consideration how horribly floyd bullies riddle. and the way floyd completely dismisses his genuine discomfort, fear, and anxiety? yeah i'd say the nickname is meant to be demeaning and downright cruel.

the MC on the other hand, he calls shrimp. also very fitting lmao. did you know shrimp have a really positive, symbiotic relationship with eels? neat right?

i just... i don't think many of the other characters think too deeply on it. because again, they're looking at these animals through their own understanding as people who live on land. i honestly adore the nicknames hgfkjfsdh even the mean ones, and could... maybe? explain most of them and how that translates into what floyd things of that person lmao. some reasonings aren't so deep, but some are. some are fitting for more than just look and feel.
