Trapped With Twisteds (Part 4)

Words: 488

Features: Bassie, Cocoa, Flyte, Eggson and Ginger (Didn't do Rudie because I wrote this at midnight and couldn't think of anything for him)

Her normal self is clingy enough, so when it comes to her twisted version she is not letting you out of her reach.

Due to her height it’s really hard to run off, especially if you don’t have a high speed level.

Even if you are a speedy toon, her flowers aren’t helping. Because she plants a lot more now that you’re stuck with her, so if you’re also a slower toon then you can barely move at all.

If you keep trying to leave she’ll start carrying you around in her arms, mainly her normal/uninfected arm.

This also means that you’re stuck on the easter floor, so she tries to make you some bouquets. Although they are pretty small and kinda sad, but she tries.

Any merch she finds she’ll hand to you, often throws or destroys other toon merch. Wants to be your favourite, can’t have any competition now, can she?

She is so quick, so unless you’re a distractor or have five star speed you are barely able to outrun her.

Although you can hide much easier, this doesn’t stop her from looking for you though. Much quicker and panicked.

If you keep running from her she’ll keep a paw on you, if she can’t be touching you then she’ll be right behind you wherever you go.

(I think all animal toons have some instincts of said animal) So she tries her best to make a burrow or nest, whatever she can make the quickest.

This overtime leads into her trying to make you stay in the burrow/nest, rushing around to find anything she can find and bring them back.

It’ll be very hard to run away from Flyte, as he barely pauses for anything. Leaving the time you could run very slim.

Tends to stay right next to you, whether it’s by flying or walking. If other toons show up he’ll start herding you away from wherever they are.

Another one who searches the floor for different items, sure he tends to grab whatever he can find, but he prefers to bring you food items.

He is pretty easy to run away from, so he takes his time when chasing you around. Normally waits until you tire yourself out from running around before catching you.

Tries to keep you in arms length, if not then the furthest you’re going is cane length. That's the furthest you can go before running off.

When toons come by the floor you’re trapped on, you can try run and get their attention. Eggson won’t let you, keeps you close so they can’t take you away.

This also means the toons are thrown off a little, because they can only see one twisted on the floor until they find him hiding you. But what's the chance of that happening, after all they just want to leave as well.

Her twisted is one of the clingiest twisteds around, but this also means that you’ll have very few chances of escape.

As her attention is one of the highest ones there is, hiding from her is hard enough, you have to be quick enough or good at hiding for a chance to be free.

When other toons show up on the floor Ginger doesn’t stay around you the whole time. Instead she tries to scare the others off the floor as quickly as possible before finding you and relaxing.

Sweet old man, he does that soft laugh some older people do. He does make a playful comment about him still being in his prime

Pushes up his glasses to keep them from falling off from the chuckle... he's not typically left flustered after a compliment but it's definitely a while since someone's said he looked nice

Though... he's never been called pretty boy before... makes him feel young again but it's got an odd ring to it in his opinion...

FLYTE

So genuinely sincerely flattered... his wings flap a little, just like his sisters does. He might even take off off the floor for a few seconds

"Oh... you're too sweet, you're pretty to me too!" Or something along those lines- he's not used to one sided compliments... but he does mean it when he says he thinks you're pretty.. you're beautiful to him, or handsome if you prefer

And he WILL be thinking about it for the rest of the day... he may accidentally almost maybe possibly fly into a wall

Shes fine. Probably.

Bassie is one of those characters that you’d love to be in a relationship with, but god does this girl bring a lot of baggage with her when you finally get into a relationship with her. 

She often goes to you for comfort outside of Eggson. You can often expect this when she has an existential crisis, or if she’s just feeling icky that day. You should probably reassure her that she’ll be fine. She practically melts from your reassurance and affection to the point where you’d have to mop her off the floor (figuratively probably). 

Speaking of affection; the first time you hugged Bassie; you were faced with a hug that has the same amount of grip as a metal lock. Only briefly however because your brief (and guaranteed yelp) will have her losing up and apologizing. Maybe you won’t mind, but the next time you hugged you swore it was by a feather. 

Her need to be… needed is extreme in some cases, and that really does apply to you more than anyone else. She’s scared of being replaced in general, but you replacing her as a girlfriend terrifies her, and that thought came up to her when she was thinking in her free time. 

Bassie wants to be the person you want, at least- what she thinks you want. This includes being insufferably nice towards you and just literally doing everything for you. If you’ve finally had enough of it and had a sit-down chat with her about the whole ordeal this is how it would -most likely- go:

It gets kind of tense.

She can’t help but overthink in some cases. Why are you talking to them for so long? Why are you spending less time with her lately? She can and does get paranoid about what you do, and what does she do? Absolutely nothing. Because she’s able to tell herself that she’s just being paranoid, that you wouldn’t replace her like Delilah tried to replace her, right?

You would absolutely need to reassure her that you won’t replace her. As already mentioned. 

Away from all of the angsty stuff, Bassie constantly asks you to do casual spring activities with her. Flower pressing, flower picking, or when it’s easter, Egg hunting with Eggson. It’s the things that calms her down and you participating in those activities makes her extremely happy. More than she can really verbally admit. 

She occasionally gives you gifts, which include but not exclusive to: Flower crowns, chocolate, chocolate eggs, or just generally whatever you like. She loves seeing your smile when receiving the gifts and your more or less the same when you do the same for her. 

Let’s assume you're a Easter Toon in this regard, whenever you’re stored away in your Easter areas and whatnot, she likes to watch old episodes with you, much like her main Holiday Toon counterpart.

Regardless of what happens, she stays by your side throughout it all. You might constantly encourage her to do what she wants and not what others want. It won’t change her mind immediately but keep preaching it and she’ll listen and take your advice. And what she wants is really just being with you and her friends without too much stress. 

Oh yeah, she isn’t really a fan of you talking to Cocoa. Off topic but she really doesn’t want you talking to her. You don’t really know why.

Bassie With A Child Reader Headcanons!

Hello, pudding anon!! Welcome welcome in!! Man, I love doing these, it seems that people really like them too, so I'm glad! It's really wholesome, hehe, here you go, dear pudding anon! Thank you for requesting! <3

-Anna

-Oh! She tenses up.. not because you did anything wrong, no, no, it's because she wants to appear as someone you can rely on, especially since you are one of the few young toons that happen to be in Gardenview. Bassie knows she can be dependent on others a lot but she wants to do her best to appear as someone reliable and wants to do her best for you! She will stutter and play with her fingers a lot, even fixing her appearance. As for you, you think she is a pretty lady, especially the flowers on her! If you compliment her, she relaxes as she smiles at you and thanks you quietly.

-It's mostly quiet when you are around her, she likes to sit in quiet places or even find flowers to press. If you are someone who doesn't talk much, you two will get along well! Even if you are an energetic kid, she has the energy to catch up to you and make sure you don't accidentally hurt yourself. If you talk, Bassie is a very good listener, making sure to reply to you here and there and just listen quietly. She has a very soft voice as she makes sure you are having fun doing activities together or speaking to you. Sometimes Bassie likes to watch you run around in the grass with a smile on her face though her eyes are always observing so nothing happens to you, even if Gardenview is safe.

-Bring her a pressed flower and Bassie takes it and treats it so delicately in her hands, anything you gift her, she finds it very sweet. She likes to gently stroke your head as she tells you that you did well and she will keep this close to her. Seeing you get happy that she likes it makes her smile bigger and more warm. You two like to gather flowers and when you have enough, you like to press them together, she teaches you the best method and what to use them for. Bassie also likes seeing how you do it and even offer you some help if you are struggling.

-Speaking of offering you help, she really tries her best when you ask her politely, she gets happy as she wants to do her best and help you out in anything she can. It's also technically her moment to shine here and show everyone how independent she can be! It might take her a while to realize how she can help but Bassie really does try her best, always trying to help you as much as she can and if not, she might get nervous more and more.. she doesn't really want to ask for any help now, does she? She wants to be like Cocoa, being able to help more instead of being dependent on others like she was.

-Sometimes poor Bassie can't hide how nervous and tense she gets and she might tell you to look for easter eggs and uses this time you are away to calm herself down. Don't worry though, she makes sure from before to have Eggson or even Flyte watch out for you or even team up with you. Bassie always makes some sort of an excuse, telling you she has to do something real quick or other things. She doesn't like lying to you but she doesn't want to risk you having that image of her in your mind. She's supposed to be the "main" toon, after all, she can't be showing you anything negative, she can't be showing you her worries or how she can get.

-If she manages to calm herself down, she pretends that everything is okay and spends more time with you, your presence and the activities she does with you definitely get her mind off of all those worries at least for a good while. It's almost like nothing really changed, she might feel a bit more tense or nervous, yes, but Bassie won't break down in front of you or anything like that. She refuses to. The mental image of you getting scared of or concerned for her makes her silently panic. She's supposed to show she's reliable, not break down crying in front of a child of all toons, a child!! It scares her.

-If she can't keep herself calm, she might put up a fake yet nervous smile for the other two and explain how she has somewhere to go but she'll be back later on. She stutters as she says it and sprints away quickly so you don't get to witness her face slowly falling apart, feeling herself tearing up and eventually crying. Bassie hates how her fear of being replaced gets to her eventually no matter what she does. When she sees the merchandise of Cocoa and the plushies, it really gets to her, she's afraid, she doesn't know what to do better. She clutches her head as she looks down, panting softly as she is shaking, her vision getting blurry. It takes her a very good while to calm down fully to show herself to you or her friends.

-If you spend time with Cocoa is also when it really gets to her, she won't show it but she tenses up as her breathing feels a bit off. She.. she understands if you rather spend more time with Cocoa than her, really, especially when Cocoa has such a bright and easy to get along with personality. She is also pretty energetic too and loves to help others out, it really gets the fear in Bassie when she watches silently from afar, her hands clutching her arms as she tries taking deep breaths. But when you come back to her, happy to see her is when she gets very surprised as her breath hitches. Maybe a small smile comes out of her as she laughs nervously. You really did come back..

-She really hoped she wouldn't never break down in front of you but sometimes it's very hard. She would panic even harder when she thinks about not tearing up when you are literally right there close to her. She tends to turn around but you can hear the stuttering in her soft shaky voice. If you ever manage to catch a glimpse of her tearing up, she instead gives you her shaky hand to hold, looking away as she silently offers to walk around with you, refusing to look at you. It helps calm her down as she takes deep shaky breaths. You usually get distracted by the colorful environment around you to notice Bassie's nervous expression, by the time you two stop walking, she's calm enough to face you, even if she still feels and does actions that still show she is nervous.

-Even though she can be quite the mess, Bassie really is grateful and appreciates your presence. She really likes spending time with you and she hopes you look up at her and find her helpful and that. Just knowing she made your day even a little better is enough to bring a small smile to her face as she calms down and relaxes visibly. She is looking forward to more activities with you and even taking care of you. Even if you spend time with the others, when you come back at her, happily holding a flower for her is what really gets her to warmly smile and thank you sincerely. She hopes you continue running up to her so happily like this and she wishes to make you smile happily like this too.

RELATIONSHIP:

She isn’t major of cringy nicknames (She at least things their cringy) she typically goes for shortened versions of your name or “Love”

She is really into showing her affection to you. She prefers it in private but she typically cannot battle the need to cuddle into you in the middle of the lobby.

Speaking of cuddling.. She doesn’t have a preference for big or small spoon… At least that’s what she tells herself. She absolutely melts the millisecond she’s cuddled up in your arms.

With her love comes jealousy, typically with other mains or Cocoa. She’s afraid you’ll leave her for one of them because she’s too dependent. 

If she hasn’t gotten her needed attention, she will quite literally pounce on you whenever she finds your sitting alone in a private place. Pure loving. You’re not escaping her until she’s gotten her daily affection.

(As mentioned before) The biggest problem about your relationship is the jealousy. Bassie keeps it to herself, but you can tell with the way her grip on your hand tightens. She typically becomes more aloof or rude whenever she’s with the toon or the said toon is mentioned in a conversation.

To conclude the head canons, Bassie is very sweet and loves you with all her heart. Give her some time and she’ll gain more trust. She just needs love and patience, if you have it, it’s a 10/10 relationship ngl.

older age has made him more comfortable showing off affection in front of others- who cares? so long as youre both not going crazy theres nothing to hide... so hopefully you dont mind open handholding and pecks of greeting

the best he can do for you if bump where his mouth would be against your face... he doesnt really... have a mouth he doubts you want anything from his proboscis

its cute in its own way, though! its the thought that counts and the fact he still tries is sweet- all for you!

he has a soft faint fuzz all over his body that feels nice to touch, too... kind of like felt... he vaguely smells like spring

COCOA

shocker she tastes and smells like chocolate... but dont try to take a bite! she might not get angry... but shes definitely going to lightly scold you if you try to take nibble out of her- shes not for eating!

love love loves nuzzling her nose against yours... theyre called bunny kisses for a reason- and shes in love with them!

you might sometimes be left with a faint smudge of chocolate on your face though.. she prefers to kiss you somewhere on your face too

BASSIE

smells almost overwhelmingly like sweet flowers- if she notices you crinkling her nose shes going to swap out her flowers for something else just to be more appealing to you... thats... its own thing to tackle honestly...

sometimes she can come off too strong in the kiss- not so much taking the lead more so... jumping right into it and dominating you, trying to be the leader but in a rushed and forced way

in truth she likes it slow and tender but she feels the need to be the one taking charge that it bleeds into her romance...

the non holiday toons were meant to be posted first but since the easter event is ending soon- hell it might already be done and gone by the time this goes up- i figured i may as well get this one out first as a little send off. gonna miss the map not gonna lie. not going to miss distracting cocoa though notes: gn toon reader, pre game, short and sweet, written on computer, tech first in a series even if not the first part written so look out for the other toons cws: none

BASSIE

oh... oh oh shes heard about this game from someone before...! she... totally doesnt have a tendency to phase into the background when theres other more interesting toons around her- dont you dare ever imply she does

she kind of... bounces between being shy about it and being bold- on one hand she doesnt want to come off as too strong and scare you off but on the other hand she doesnt want you to think shes not interested...

it ends with the stick snapping in half before you guys even have the chance to meet in the middle, and shes mortified... instantly launches into damage control- even if theres no damage. to you it might not be that big of a deal but to bassie its a monumental task

COCOA

you dont dwell on whether or not her eating chocolate can be counted as cannibalism- youre just focusing on trying not to snap the stick and embarrassing herself. she seemed so eager to do this with you that youd feel like a fool if you did

but if you did she almost instantly lets you know its not your fault and that its no problem- youve both still got the whole box! no need to fret over ruining the first.. second.. third... try!

similarly to eggson though she uses it as an excuse to give you some extra affection- and to her its an added cute bonus! she thinks youre cute for thinking youre sly for this. you think youre so smart using this as an excuse for a kiss, dont you? be glad shes not the type to tease

EGGSON

he.. does not at all get it. you young people sure are......... creative.... youre going to need to explain how the game works at least twice to get him to understand- but hes on board once he gets it. its simply another excuse to give you some sugar... not that he feels like he needs an excuse

plus its a nice little treat, too! though... he still has some of his competitive fire from his youth- though now that you think about it was he ever young? do toons age- do you all- youre not even given the chance to think much on it before he surpasses the middle and meets you at your end

he still thinks its a rather... unconventional way to eat a treat... hed much rather simply share the box with you

FLYTE

he unfortunately has the same problem as his sister- he doesnt really have a mouth. he does have a proboscis though... and! that... cant really eat anything other than liquids and nectar...

hes doing it with you in spirit as you eat the sticks on your own

hes not all that bothered by it, hes already grown used to not being able to eat like other toons. youll both simply have to find another cute game to do together

doing another lline of these posts- maybe ill do more for other fandoms... maybe ill even update old lines for posts i did for other fandoms before since its been a while and i like the whole compare old work to new stuff to see how much my thought process has changed just like the pocky line these will be divided up into groups to keep the post from getting too long notes: gn toon reader, gn names will be offered if needed/available, short and sweet, no like these are going to be REALLY short because its literally just what you call each other, prepare for some repeats cws: none

EGGSON

They call you: he likes to call you his dear, his steady, older nicknames you here from older folks are eggson's go to... he doesnt care for some of the newer ones... but to be fair that goes for a lot of new things

You call them: he likes when you call him your love and sweetheart, and while he might not be that kind of egg- he likes when you call him sunny... its silly, and he likes that from you

FLYTE

They call you: he doesnt say it a lot but he does sometimes call you baby/babe- though he does feel a little silly for saying it... not that he thinks you arent his babe but it feels out there for him. he usually calls you a variation of your name, though!

You call them: bud is nice, he likes it- but he also likes when you call him just by his name.. when it comes to him he doesnt have much of a preference for names

COCOA

They call you: sunflower, she likes to call you sunflower- of course she'd relate to the pretty yellow flower associated with sunshine to you. hon/honey is another one she calls you though

You call them: call her funny bunny and shes going to hide behind her ears but trust me she enjoys the name, names referring to her sweetness are a given too

BASSIE

They call you: shes torn between giving you something out there and special but she doesnt want to weird you out, so she also wants to give you something normal and... god this is so hard for her! she may fold and simply ask you what you want to be called but theres definitely some defeat in her eyes that she couldnt think of something on her own

You call them: shes more than happy to take whatever name you give her- its from you to her, therefore its special. whatever name you assign to her is hers now and no one elses. though it may be best not to use a common one... she feels a vague claim over the names you give her...

Egg Radar (Bonus ending 1) (Eggson x Reader)

something something "say hell yeah and ill write an ending for eggson" and then i got like two hell yeahs instantly quick heads up im writing this at 3am, havent slept yet and im currently unable to- body just refuses ough, also im aching so... hmm... also generally itching to write! so if this is more janky than usual... i apologize! notes: gn toon reader, does not take place at the same time as the main 7mih line due to the whole "main one takes place during christmas + pre game so obviously other holiday toons arent around", eggson doesnt really get the game, no kissing but there is... something sweet even if not explicitly romantic, old man ooough i love old man, pre game, obviously stating that the reader is an adult (otherwise i wouldnt be writing this) BUT eggson is older than the reader word count: 2.1k cws: none

You push your hand in deeper… and all eyes are on you…

Your fingers wrap around something, and you pull out…

Something smooth and round. It almost felt like plastic in your hands- and your fingers caught on something sticking out of the top of the thing. One side was curved, and the other flat. A second later you pulled the thing out into the air and… you still had no idea what it was. It looked like one of those cooking timers, but… not quite. Kitchen timers didn’t have an antenna.. At least the ones you’ve seen Sprout and Cosmo use didn’t have any. The entire thing was curved, too, setting it down and keeping it from toppling over would be a nightmare in the kitchen. 

You had… absolutely no idea what it was meant to be. 

“Uhm-” You hold the item higher into the air to show it off to the toons around you. Even Dandy looked like he was having a hard time trying to figure out who it belonged to… before the owner stepped up- Eggson… probably the last person you would expect to play this game… but to be fair Dandy had only just revealed why he was collecting items.

A part of you wondered if the older toon even knew what the game tended to entail… your jaw remained clamped shut, Dandy’s seemed to do the same as Eggson pushed his glasses up.

“Why… I think that’s mine,” The egg toon’s hand fell from his glasses, the other gripping the top of his cane firmly to keep him steady. Awkwardly you pushed the… whatever device it was… to his now opened hand.

The thought to ask what it was didn’t cross your mind as Dandy straightened his stance. “Well! I suppose that settles who our first two players are!” 

A tenseness laid in his words, but overall he almost sounded… relieved. Like he was glad you hadn’t drawn someone else… even if there was still a pang of disappointment laced in the gaps of his words. 

Eggson muttered something asking for a reward. He… really did not seem to know what the game was meant to be. 

“You’ve both got seven minutes,” Dandy clasped his hands together, before turning his attention to Vee- to act as his timer you had to guess. 

Cocoa’s hand finally fell from your shoulder. Even she looked relieved- knowing Eggson nothing was going to happen aside from having your head talked off with his stories. Not that that was too terribly bad. Your hand found itself to Eggson’s slightly curved back… the fabric of his vest was… soft… almost silky under your fingers. 

“Come on, game’s starting,” You leaned down slightly to where his ear would’ve been if he had any. 

“What’s the game?” He asked, slightly irked that no one was answering his questions as you walked him down the hall to the gift shop. The door to the storage room was already hanging open… and as you stepped in you grabbed one of the plastic chairs left behind in the shop to bring inside for Eggson. 

“Here,” You set it to the side and guided him towards it. You set yourself against the wall to his right- the door shut and doused you both in darkness. 

Eggson wasn’t as frail as he looked, but the sheer amount of dust in the air did force some worry to coil around your throat as the particles lazily floated through the air. 

It didn’t even occur to you that you hadn’t answered his question until he repeated it- understandably a little more forceful and confused. 

“There isn’t much to it, really, it’s, uuh…” You pat your palms against the wall behind you. How could you word it without sounding weird. Or without making it even more awkward? “You kind of just spend some time alone with someone? I mean there isn’t really… a set goal in mind, its ultimately up to the players-”

You weren’t technically lying. 

Eggson let out an unamused huff. 

“You kids these days really have a weird way of having fun. Back in my day, we played games like tags and chase and-”

You allowed him to go on and on… you couldn’t find it in yourself to remind him that he was designed to be older. Just as all the other toons were designed to be fully matured by the time they were put out into Gardenview… with a few exceptions, of course. 

“I suppose red rover would be more fun than standing around in a closet in the dark,” You add in as his grumbling lulled slightly. “..though… I wouldn’t want you to get hurt,” 

Eggson readjusted himself against his cane- still held in his hands as he leaned forward slightly on the chair you had given him. He waved you off. 

“I’m not some tired old bitty who needs to be fretted over- I wouldn’t have become the egg hunting champion if I didn’t take a few risks,” his smile stretched across his face. “I’ve fallen out of my fair share of trees to secure my victories, you know,” 

You force a smile across your face but the idea nearly mortified you. 

“Well… if not for you- we still have some more… fragile toons… Scraps is… papery… and Finn’s made of glass- literally… I’m sure there’s a few more,” You shrugged.

Vee, too, maybe even Brightney… Rodger and Glisten’s glass faces crossed your mind for a moment. “Not worth the risk, you know?”

Eggson hummed softly in response. “You’re a kind toon, taking everyone else into consideration like that,” his hands curled and flexed around the curve of his cane. The elder toon tilted his face to get a better look at you- at least as best as he could in the dark. 

“Say… why did you enter this…” his smile faltered slightly, as if the current round was painful to call a game, “...activity…” 

His face untensed. 

The corner of your mouth curled downwards in a faint grimace to match his own temporary one. 

You knew why he entered- he was roped into it by Dandy by adding his item into the basket. Though… he could have backed out of the game- even if he didn’t fully understand it. 

You, on the other hand…

The shrug of your shoulders did nothing to satisfy Eggson’s curiosity.

“I guess I didn’t really think much of it? I mean-” You cut yourself off and regather yourself. 

But… perhaps it was his kindness… your clear discomfort was picked up by Eggson.

“Oh… you don’t need to feel pushed into giving an answer if you don’t have one,” his smile was earnest as his hand pulled itself towards you and lightly rested itself on your upper arm. The gesture was small, but it did wonders in soothing your current state. 

“It’s not like I was really looking for someone specifically to pull- not that I’m not happy to have you with me, of course,” You continue on. A glance is stolen from the corner of your eye, resting on his gentle features. A small part of you wondered if he would have been given the same grace and openness if he were drawn by someone else. The implications of the game tended to lead to similar outcomes- regardless of how far they went. Would someone have been a little less patient or understanding if they had pulled someone who clearly didn’t know what was going on? 

His fingers trail a faint circle against your skin and you're brought back to the storage room. The dust stings your eyes, and the air felt nearly suffocating- your throat itched. Bad. 

“This game isn’t just about sitting around doing nothing, is it?” 

Eggson’s hand pulled itself away from you and settles with the other. A soft but faint groan rolls in your throat and your teeth clicked. 

It didn’t how much you tried to dance around the topic, your words had betrayed you and gave the egg a little more context than you were intending. 

As hyper focused as he was on “the old times” and the (egg) hunt, he was far more observant and in the moment than one might think. 

Your feet suddenly looked really interesting, the way it pushed the dust and left streaks in it more captivating than the faint glint from his glasses- just barely catching the sliver of light creeping in through the bottom of the door. 

“It… can be, but not always,” You drag the toe of your foot to draw a line in the dust. “Though… at least from what I’ve heard- I’ve… actually never been drawn before, if I’m being honest- the only reason I’m in here I guess is because Dandy made me draw-” 

Your words die, and you take a moment to recollect yourself. It shouldn’t be this awkward to explain this. Sure, Eggson wasn’t cruel but he did have a tendency to judge things he didn’t fully understand- and you had a feeling he wouldn’t fully get this. 

“A lot of people actually use this as a means to get closer-”

Again, not an entire lie. Wrapped in innocence, and it could be taken in any way. 

“Ah, like lovebirds,”

And he saw right through it. 

Your teeth clench against one another… you hadn’t meant to hesitate but it was enough confirmation for him. Both of your eyes fixed themselves intensely to your feet. 

A few seconds passed, and just as you were expecting Eggson to go into one of his rambles about not understanding the younger generation… he… laughed.

Not at you- he covered it under his breath.

“I suppose you younger toons aren’t much different than us older folk,” Eggson readjusted his glasses. “Well…” he shifted around in the plastic chair- and fully turned his head to look at your wilted and mortified form. 

“...even if I am not who you’d choose, I think you’re lovely,” 

Your hands shift awkwardly against the wall behind you once more. 

“Even more- you’re thoughtful, and kind. I may not fully understand this game… and truth be told I don’t think it’s my cup of tea, but as long as you have fun with it… who am I to judge?”

Another shift and he turned himself to fully face you from his chair- back no longer supported. His cane clacked gently against the wooden floor. “And I’m glad I have such a dear as my first,” 

Another hum pulled from your chest. 

“And I mean that,” 

The tips of your feet press against one another. “I know you do- you don’t usually just say things to say them,” 

Eggson chuckled again softly… and as he calmed, someone knocked on the other side of the door. 

“Time’s up you two, time to come on out!” 

It was Dandy… at least he gave you both the grace to open the door yourselves. 

“Time really flew by, huh?” Eggson readjusted his glasses and a second later rose to his feet. He mutters a soft thanks as you help him rise- and… he offers you his free hand. 

…and you take it without giving it much of a second thought.

“I’d offer you my entire arm, but… oh, I’m afraid it’s a little difficult to walk like that with my cane,” He apologized.

“No, no this is just fine,” Your hold squeezed around his hand before relaxing… you’re the one to open the door to greet Dandy on the other side- who’s eyes instantly fly down to the shared hold between you and the older toon. 

“Ah,” 

That was all. Whatever tenseness in the single noise wasn’t questioned by you- but it did earn a raised brow from Eggson. 

“Come on, I’m sure you want to go back to… what were you looking for earlier, exactly…? I saw you wandering around the lobby earlier…” You ask under your breath as the two of you walk together down the hall.

“Oh, I was trying to see if I could find any eggs early- you know, they’re hosting the egg hunt tomorrow,” he grinned up at you. You purse your lips slightly. 

“I think they’re putting the eggs out tomorrow morning- right before opening-” 

“Well, it never hurts to scope out some hiding spots!” he snickered. “You should do the same, you might just be able to best me this time,” 

You only shake your head slightly, but you couldn’t fight the smile curling at the edges of your mouth…

…and the sight seemed to satisfy him. He brightened just a little more- a new found pep in his step as he began to rattle on about some of his egg finding strategies. 

….You… had a feeling he almost let slip what his item was before quickly redirecting.

Seven Minutes in Gardenview (Easter Edition)

something something if I do eggson it would only make sense I do the other three easter toons BUUUUUUUUUUUT the main line already takes place pre game and during christmas time so suddenly adding the other holiday toons wouldnt make much sense... soooooo! little bonus line! this is opener- the first ending is already going to be eggson but there WILL be a poll in his ending to determine the next winner! yay! notes: pre game, this opener is a lot shorter than the main line opener since it follows nearly the same formula, gn toon reader, takes place during spring/easter (duh), written in one sitting at 3am so it may be a little OOOOUUUUUUUUUUGGUHUHU i fear my body refuses to sleep tonight- too achy too restless word count: 1.8k cws: none

The front lobby smelled strongly of flowers and sugar- candy most definitely but the specific kind too varied for you to properly pin point. All things considered the lobby looked the same as it always did save for the paper decor lining the walls. Bassie’s face, Cocoa’s legs, and of course… eggs. So many eggs. But that wasn’t what had caught your eye; you’ve already grown used to the Easter decor over the past few weeks… and as the holiday drew closer to an end Dandy decided to throw a going away party of sorts because the four holiday toons had to retire until next year. 

Small round plastic tables had been snatched from other floors and dressed in pastel coverings. Treats- mostly candy- adorned each table. Some egg shaped cookies did catch your eye, as well as a sizable tower of meringue… you could only hope they’d last before the air forced them to soften. 

You nearly bumped into another toon as your eyes trailed along the walls. The lights above were dimmed. Instead the lighting came from all sorts of different fairy lights. Most only colored, but some larger bulbs were shaped. 

Bunnies and butterflies and baskets- and of course, eggs. You can’t have Easter without eggs. 

You mutter an apology as Flyte spun around on his heel quick enough to nearly knock you back on your feet. The ends of his wings catch you before you fall and rest on your shoulders to steady your form before they retreat back behind him. “Woah-! Slow it down there Buttercup!” 

The butterfly took a step back to give you some space. His eyes darted across you to ensure you were fine. “It’s packed in here,” He commented… but he didn’t follow up. Flyte was never shy, but you couldn’t blame him for being at least a little overwhelmed at the sight of so many toons in the same place- you would be too if you spent most of the year with a smaller group. 

“Didn’t think everyone would come- I’m assuming Dandy told the rest of the Easter toons about the party?” You run a hand over your clothing to smooth out any newly formed wrinkles. 

You scanned the room. Tish and Astro both sat together prepping bedding for everyone… by the looks of things it was to be a sleepover tonight… maybe you could run up to your room to grab your sleepwear…

Sprout and Cosmo did last minute rearrangements for the baked goods they’ve most definitely spent the last few hours working on… they seemed to struggle to make the arrangements as pretty as possible. Boxten stood nearby awkwardly fumbling with his hands- any attempt to speak seemed to fail in his throat. 

You couldn’t help but notice Bassie tailing after Dandy as he carried an almost comically large basket- stopping by everyone to make them put something into it. 

Cocoa hopped around helping anyone who looked lost or needed help with last second preparations as the last handful of toons made their way to the lobby. The elevator’s ding was drowned by the music flooding the air. 

Eggson… seemed to be looking for something… 

“He did, actually he was rather adamant that we joined- said the party was for us… mostly…” Flyte brought your attention back to him with his words. 

“Mostly..?”

His wings only fluttered and curled- his own personal version of a shrug. A soft hum is all you can think to give him in response. 

A few seconds pass. 

“So… that basket Dandy’s got…” You weakly point at the flower as he zipped around from toon to toon. “What’s that all about?” 

Flyte’s feet shuffled against the wooden floor under him. “Not sure, Dandy didn’t really explain. Just told me to put something in- he’s probably going to ask the same from you, looks like he’s doing the same with everyone else,” His wings flex and stretch in the air behind him before relaxing. 

“Are your wings bothering you?” You couldn’t help but allow your eyes to land on the thin… material… whatever it was. You always thought it was cute that he and his sister’s colors were nearly completely inverted. Pink fuzzy skin and blue wings for Flutter, the opposite for her brother. 

Even the makeup around their eyes were opposites. 

The sweetened feeling is pushed aside to focus on the conversation at hand.

“Just stretching them out- I don’t get much of an opportunity to fly around during the year you know- not much space,” 

And it seemed the limited time out and about was hardly enough to give his wings time to untense fully, if the constant adjustments told you anything. “Makes sense, I think I’d be pretty pent up if I had wings and couldn’t use them whenever,” You copy his shifting as your eyes kept darting to Dandy. Nearly as soon as toons joined the party, he rushed to them with the basket. 

Despite his clear eagerness to hound everyone, he hasn’t approached you yet. In a weird way you almost felt rejected and offended. Were you not good enough to be harassed into putting something of yours in his hands? 

Flyte was stolen from you as Eggson approached him to talk- and as much as you enjoyed the older toon’s presence you had heard more than your fair share of eggs and hunts- egg hunts as he stressed they be called- in the past few days. 

You continued your awkward shuffle to the side and hoped the egg didn’t notice you- and in the process you bumped into yet another toon. The warm smell of chocolate instantly almost overwhelmed you as you took a step back. 

“Woah- Slow your roll Sunflower-” Cocoa did not budge from her stance as you continued your trajectory into her for a split second longer before you snapped yourself back to the moment. 

“Ah- haha..” You could only laugh awkwardly. In less than five minutes you’ve bumped into two different toons. “Flyte told me the same thing…” 

You quickly glance down at your clothing to make sure none of her chocolate left a mark on the fabric- thankfully it didn’t seem Cocoa melted easy. The rabbit shifted her stance- lightly tilting her head at you. “Did he? Are you feeling alright? It’s not like you to…” She trailed off before knocking her paws together to mimic the collision. You sheepishly wave her off. 

“Yeah yeah- just a lot of…” Your mouth twitches into a tightened line before shifting to a grimace, and relaxing. “Stuff going on at once- all the lights and music and toons- just a little disoriented is all,” 

It wasn’t entirely a lie. There was simply so much going on at once. All of the movement around you didn’t make things any easier. 

Cocoa’s smile wilted to give way to concern. 

“Well, why don’t you come take a seat with me on one of the benches… Dandy said there’s a game starting soon- I’d hate for you to not feel your best and have to sit out for it,” 

The rabbit toon took a half step closer, but overall remained a respectable distance from you. 

You almost deny her on the spot, but you aren’t given the chance as the music suddenly falls quieter- Dandy standing near the center of the room calling for everyone to gather for the game. Most toons did. Others only glanced at him to give him some attention- still on the fence of whether they would participate. Some simply remained at their previous activity. 

“Sunflower,” Cocoa said softly. 

“It’ll be fine-! Knowing Dandy, he’ll let me skip it if it’s something too intense,” You lightly wave her off as you shuffle towards the crowd. Her nose twitched for a second before stilling.

“Well…” She took a step to remain at your side. “You know yourself best, but don’t force yourself if it’s too much,” 

You bite back the urge to tell her to do the same. One could only imagine how much was weighing on her shoulders with her constant habit of lending a paw to other toons. Speaking of her paws, one of them found itself on your shoulder. A silent attempt to keep you steady and from walking into another toon.  

As you and Cocoa make it to the group there was already some chatter.

“-Seven minutes in heaven? What are we, a bunch of-” Gigi speaks up only to be lightly elbowed by Connie- who’s gaze was only somewhat obviously fixed on a certain lamp toon. 

Eggson grumbled something about never hearing about the game- mildly annoyed that “you young people are always making things up so fast”, at least something along those lines over the overlapped chatter. 

Dandy somewhat patiently waited for the talk to die down; one of his brows growing tense as the talk continued to carry on. The flower cleared his throat loud enough to cut through the crowd and regain everyone’s attention. “If you don’t want to play, by all means you can sit this one out! We’ve got all night to play other games,” 

The basket he had been holding finds itself in his hands again… and a few groans and “ohs” come from the crowd as the dots are finally put together. 

The basket is raised higher, almost like a flowery spectacle. Some petals- whether paper or genuine- fell off the sides of the basket and floated lazily to the floor below. The poor thing looked absolutely stuffed to the brim- the only thing covering the items inside was a checkered pastel cloth. 

Dandy shifted the basket by the handle to push his point. 

And his eyes suddenly landed right on you. Snapped to you more like it. Several pairs of eyes drifted to you. 

“Dewdrop! I don’t think I’ve gotten something from you to put in, so that makes you first up I suppose!” 

His tone didn’t at all make it sound like he accidentally skipped you. The flower took a step closer with the basket. “Of course, you don’t have to join the game, but,’ 

Cocoa’s paw shifted on your shoulder and you glanced at her for half a second. She looked a cross between worried and supportive. Whatever choice you made you knew she would allow. She was helpful, but she always did her best to not impose. 

The basket creaked pathetically as Dandy held it out in front of you- and without giving it much more thought your hand reached forward.

How bad could the outcome be? It’s not like there were rules for the game outside of spending seven minutes with another toon. 

“By the way, you’ll all be spending your seven minutes in the gift shop- figured it was best to give the players privacy,” Dandy smiled at you as your fingers brushed past the cloth. The grin stretched as he looked to Vee. “You wouldn’t mind setting a timer, would you?” 

The tv scoffed, and muttered something. 

You push your hand in deeper… and all eyes are on you…
