what if each episode of season 4 was 90 minutes and spanned 2ish months, leading them up to opening night (07) and ricky/kourtney/maddox graduation (08). they don't get approval for the fall musical right from the get-go because of the movie. so they prep for spring throughout the year while dealing with (actual!) doc fallout and filming and stressors of all kinds.

#ricky and gina's 'fight' happens not at halloween but when quinn offers her r&j.#big red comes back and has to actually deal with the consequences of his actions.#ej comes back twice; the second time far happier a person than the first.#kourtney refuses to get senioritis (hilarious parallels to r/m antics). jet actually gets his head out of his ass and asks her out.#maddox makes friends! real friends! and we get to see her and ash actually be a couple!#there's actual confrontation > reconcilliation between g/r's moms and them. nini comes back at the end for one last finale (maybe over text #but she is there)#we see homecoming and prom and a glimpse into some of their non-theater interests. we see their friendships #AND their individual arcs. without sacrificing either.#everyone is fine <3 #high school musical: the musical: the series #my writing #<- not really i just wanna find this later
