Fixing the school fight in Cobra Kai's season 2 finale

There's two areas of the school fight that I would change.

Have Tory take her anger out on Miguel, not Sam

One is obviously the whole fact that Tory's wrath was misplaced. Obviously, Tory has every right to be angry about her boyfriend cheating on her with another girl (one he's made clear he still holds feelings for).

This isn't helped by the fact that Kreese and Cobra Kai have more or less convinced her to use violence as a go-to problem solving tool. But it was very wrong for her to start the school fight. And doubly wrong of her to start the school fight with Sam, the girl that her boyfriend cheated on her with. If Tory wanted to start a fight, she should've chosen to attack Miguel, her boyfriend who had an obligation to be faithful to her (and who never really apologizes for cheating on her).

Here's how I envision the school fight going, if Tory's anger was directed at Miguel:

Everything's the same up until Tory attacks the teacher, gets on the intercom. Instead of saying, “Samantha LaRusso, I know what you did and now you're gonna pay for it. I'm coming for you, bitch!” she says, "Miguel Diaz, I know what you did and now you're gonna pay for it. I'm coming for you, asshole!” She then goes out and seeks out Miguel.

She catches Miguel in the middle of the hallway, and rails on him for cheating on her. Miguel makes a few feeble attempts to defend himself, which do nothing to placate Tory because she feels he's only sorry that he got caught, and he doesn't regret kissing Sam. She begins attacking Miguel. He initially doesn't fight back, on account of him feeling guilty, knowing deep down that she is right about that fact. However, eventually, his self-preservation instinct kicks in because of the fact that while getting cheated on sucks, it doesn't justify assault, and certainly doesn't justify Tory trying to put him in the hospital. He begins fighting back, Tory doubles down, and it becomes a brawl. Hawk actually attempts to intercede to protect Miguel, but finds himself no match for a furious Tory.

Sam also heard the announcement. She knows what Tory's going after Miguel, and cares for his wellbeing. She arrives, and forcibly pulls Tory off of Miguel and pins her against the locker. Only now does Tory's anger become directed at Sam, because she can't believe Sam is standing up for a cheater like Miguel.

Sam tries to calm Tory down. Unfortunately, her efforts are rendered all for naught when Robby comes along and attacks a still recovering Miguel in a rage. Sam's shocked at seeing Robby behaving like an aggressor, and subsequently Tory takes advantage of this to shove Sam aside and join Robby in ganging up on Miguel, someone that both of them hate (Tory due to the cheating, Robby due to the fact that his dad's practically adopted Miguel, the whole fact that Miguel kissed Sam while she was borderline blackout drunk, and Sam still holds feelings for Miguel). Sam doesn't like having to fight Robby, but nonetheless she steps in to help Miguel fight both of them. So it's now a 2 on 2 brawl, while the other individual fights of the school brawl are largely unchanged.

The outcome of the brawl is still the same though, with Sam ending up in the hospital after Tory cuts her arm with a spiked bracelet, and Miguel still ending up in a coma after Robby attacks him in a blind rage just as he decides to show mercy to him.

Clearer motivations in the Robby vs. Miguel fight

Miguel vs. Robby in the school fight is one point in the show where it feels like the writers probably decided on the big things that would happen at/near the end of the season, and then worked backwards to plot out how the characters get to that point (the All-Valley results in season 4 are another example, or the writers' efforts in season 4 to make Tory redeemable after two seasons of her being a borderline cartoon villain).

The big issue at stake is that Miguel's motivations for fighting Robby (when he knows Tory's on the warpath and needs to be taken down by whatever means necessary) are unclear. This is an issue where they could fix things by doing one of the following:

A) Switch the boys' roles around, and have Robby attack Miguel as Miguel is in the process of trying to calm Tory down (as I suggested above in my "if Tory directed her wrath at Miguel instead of Sam" scenario above, or as done in this fanfic for a scenario where Tory's wrath stays directed at Sam). Not only would this foreshadow Robby joining Cobra Kai at the end of season 3, it would also be very in character for Robby given his hotheadedness and the fact that his motivations for starting a fight are much clearer than Miguel's (because again, he resents that his dad has all but adopted Miguel, as well as the fact that Miguel kissed Robby's girlfriend while she was blackout drunk; and in the fic I linked to, it's due to a combination of him seeing Miguel's hand on Sam while Miguel is actively separating the girls and jumping to conclusions, as well as resentment over the fact that Sam has admitted to him to still having feelings for Miguel).

B) Have Hawk be the one who tackles Robby off of Tory. Given he's the one who escalated things to a full on brawl, it would be perfectly in character for him to do so. Then have Robby run into Miguel as they're making their way through the fighting crowd and trying to get to Sam to stop Tory.

C) In lieu of the mini fight between Daniel and Johnny at the start of the episode which could be cut with no loss to the story, have a mini fight between Miguel and Robby that gets broken up by Johnny. Subsequently, there's a sense of unfinished business going into the school fight, and a reason is given for why the boys are so caught up in fighting each other rather than focusing on protecting Sam and taking down Tory.

COBRA KAI FAVORITE SCENES (8/?)

S3E10: December 19

Imagine: 

You’re sitting in your living room, watching the Season 3 Finale of Cobra Kai. You get to the scene where the Cobra Kais trap Demetri, and offer to let Hawk break his arm again. Hawk lunges at them, proceeding to kick them all in the face and save Demetri. Hawk approaches Demetri, and Demetri shrinks away, scared. 

“Demetri, I’m sorry,” Hawk whispers. “For all of it. I’m so, so sorry.”

Tears well up in Hawk’s eyes, and he starts to cry. He and Demetri stare at each other in what you think to be a very homoerotic fashion.

Demetri seems just as shell-shocked as you are by this development, and he freezes. Hawk steps forward and gently cups Demetri’s face in his hands, and kisses him incredibly softly. After a moment, Demetri reciprocates, closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around Hawk’s neck. A triumphant orchestral score plays in the background.

You cheer so loudly and so boisterously that your roommates all come in and practically beg you to calm down. 

The Cobra Kais in the house catch sight of Demetri and Hawk kissing, and the fights settle down as many turn to gawk and jeer at the scene. Demetri and Hawk, sharing a silent moment of understanding, decide to use this to their advantage. Hawk pulls away and whispers to Demetri, smirking, “let’s win this.” Demetri nods.

Demetri and Hawk then begin fighting back-to-back and kicking the everloving shit out of all the Cobra Kais, being about to whoop their asses much faster due to the cobras’ lingering shock at the gay makeout sesh that just practically went down. The Cobra Kais are defeated for the time being. 

Later, in the final scene when the dojos join, Hawk goes to stand next to Demetri. They join hands as the senseis begin training. You cry tears of joy as the credits begin to roll, but when asked, you tell one of your roommates you must’ve just gotten an eyelash in your eye.

Outside, the coronavirus has been cured. No one is storming the Capital in the US. Destiel is canon in all dubs of Supernatural, including the English one. This is the Good Timeline. Everything is going to be okay.

- during the bar fight in s2, the waitress sliding johnny a glass so he can smash it on the head of the dude he was fighting and then he winks at her.

- demetri calling chris and mitch “bebop and rocksteady”

- johnny drops his pizza slice right before he starts fighting kyler’s gang. the next shot of the homeless lady, she’s eating johnny’s pizza slice.

- daniel’s “golden locks” comment was gay as hell but so was him walking away from johnny going “you uhhh you look uh you look” like bro why are you stuttering while talking about your rival’s looks? lmfao.

-carmen’s little karate jokes like “i’ll be your salsa sensei” and “my dojo, my rules.”

- when johnny is learning how to use the internet for the first time he has a “internet for dummies” book next to his laptop.

- stingray high-fiving hawk during the school fight lmfao. so fucking stupid.

- when daniel confront johnny at the school dance saying he can’t put fliers for his dojo up, and he tells johnny “you need to leave this school... i’m serious!” and johnny goes “i know you are” and then fucking GIGGLES.

- when hawk goes to confront demetri in the comic shop and you just see his mohawk in between the aisles like a shark 👀

- miguel: “should I clean these windows in a particular way, sensei?” johnny: “nah i don’t give a shit.”

- grandma thinking miguel got bruised knuckles from masturbating too hard.

My favorite character from Cobra Kai is Hawk/Eli. His character by far is the best and cannot wait to see how this character continues or changes in the next season. Also yes I rushed this as usual ;-;

Whatever this demonstration in, it’s quite the spectacle. I mean look it’s got freaking firework shit lol Looks like it might be tied in with some sort of 4th of July celebration cause it has those like circle red, white and blue American banner things that I always see when I’m down there around Independence day.

Also the pic where they are standing all proudly, the thing that was broken is white and blue, which I would like to point out are the colours of Daniel’s headband. Also whatever design was on there in blue, it seems to have curved edges. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

I just want to say I didn't plan on writing for Hawk/Eli because I felt like I wouldn't get it right, but this was too damn cute not to write it. If it's not in character please ignore it :)))

Don't tell Hawk this, but you actually also liked him when he was still Eli. (Scar and all. Execept that ugly sweater, you had tried to tell him it wasn't a good look, but that sweater can burn.)

You would consider yourself close friends with him and Demetri. You sat beside Eli at lunch and when Miguel had shown up, talking about karate it honestly didn't sound like that bad of an idea to you, but it definitely wasn't for you. And this Sensei Lawrence seemed... questionable at least to learn karate from.

So when Eli had quietly told you," I'm taking karate with Miguel now." You were a little surprised at first but didn't think much of it, karate is technically a sport right, what's makes this different? Till the next day...

Blue mohawk.

Eli had a mohawk.

"Eli? You shouldn't have to change the way you look just to-"

"-I agree, this is ridiculous." Demetri cut you off and spoke over you, making you dart your eyes down to your lunch tray.

"Don't interrupt people," Hawk stated firmly, glaring at Demetri for a moment, before looking back to you and smiling. "You can call me Hawk, babe."

You could feel the heat rise to your face and ears.

Great, Hawk's confidence and smile made you flustered.

You turn your face from him to look at Miguel who was smirking. He definitely knew you like Eli-no-Hawk, you mentally corrected yourself. This was definitely Hawk and not Eli anymore.

Its when your walking home with Hawk that gets you flustered again.

"Hey Y/N?"

"Yeah Hawk?" You could tell he seemed a little nervous which in return made you nervous.

"..Do you want to go on a date with me?..."

You froze. Literally. You stood there staring at him.

"A date?" You question quietly, though he heard you and nods, glancing away from you before starting to walk again.

You frantically walk to catch up to him. You grab his hand which makes him look at you.

"I'd really like that, Hawk." You answer with a smile before ducking your head down when his eyes meet yours.

"You're so cute." He grins, enterwining his fingers with yours.

So many cute dates!!

A good mix of going out (to Golf 'N Stuff) and staying in (bingeing shows/movies.)

He of course knows how it is to be shy, so when you start fidgeting and slouch your shoulders in, Hawk will try to figure out what's making you nervous.

He will order your food for you.

If you are feeling a little bold and kiss his cheek or peck his lips, he will be thrilled and immediately kiss you back.

Now only you get to call him Eli when you're alone together and you love it.

But parties on the other hand.. You weren't so fond of.

If anyone tries to hit on you, Hawk will make his presence known.

First time it happened you had been minding your own damn business when some asshole said something about wanting to get to know you better. Thankfully Hawk came to your rescue.

"She doesn't like you asshole so why don't you go somewhere else." Hawk growled, arm wrapping tight around your waist, tucking you against his side which you leaned into.

"She can speak for herself." The other guy replied, watching you intently.

"I don't like you and I don't want to get to know you." You stated, leaning more into Hawk before looking down.

You feel a finger tilt your chin up and are met with the pretty clear blue eyes of your boyfriend.

"Are you okay, babe?" He asks softly.

"Yeah, you saved me." You assure with a nod.

His lips are quickly pressed against yours, making you smile before pressing your face to his neck.

"Can we go now?" You mumble, making him laugh.

"Sure babe." He agrees with a smile, leading you away from the party.

aisha sticks around for the third season and has ~further character development~

robby and sam have a platonic relationship (almost like siblings) that miguel misinterprets

sam’s view toward tory / danny’s actions toward johnny aren’t super classist

instead of dunking on demitri when they were talking about doctor who, hawk starts being friends with him again (and maybe something more idk, they could go on double dates w moon and her gf)

danny not throwing out robby twice for stupid reasons

kreese actually trying to become a better person (it’s a tall order but it is a very redemption based show)

more characters of color/queer characters

disabilities aren’t magically cured (*cough*miguel’s asthma*cough*)

danny not getting 114% invested in a karate gang war that johnny isn’t trying to start

danny and johnny becoming friends or at least acting civil together for a full episode jfc

aisha having a bit of a crush on tory when they first meet and tory beginning to reciprocate <3

johnny actively seeking out robby to heal their relationship instead of just waiting until an opportunity presents itself

anthony stop being a spoiled little shit

and sam be a better friend to aisha

carmen and johnny just being friends

school fight still happens but tory (who has an actual backstory that explains her motivations) doesn’t cut up sam, hawk and demetri don’t fight bc they’re friends again and when robby kicks miguel over the railing he’s able to catch him haul him up (low-key robby’s way of showing mercy/apologizing for taking things too far even though it’s not really his fault, he just got unlucky)

basically I want this to be a rivals to friends to lovers kiaz slowburn

emphasis on slow burn

I just think that would be nice

but this is just an ideal version for me, probably wouldn’t all work as an actual show
