This post is now a plea to check date stamps on news-related posts before you reblog them; yes it's cathartic as fuck to watch Long Muskrat incompetently break his new toy but make sure you're not spreading info that's a week out of date

following what's happening on twitter from tumblr when i don't have twitter is the same feeling as following a tv show i don't watch just by seeing tons of post about it on my dash and ending up getting involved emotionally anyway, except that this time the vilain ain’t even hot

Tumblr’s Twitter account wasn’t banned with the others because only accounts that promote social medias get banned, and what Staff is doing over there is the equivalent of showing someone a used car and telling them that the frame is rusted through, and that it only comes with three tires.

Elongated Muskrat, what does this mean? He acts like telling Hank Green to Google something is an epic own, but, like? What is he getting at? Telling Hank Green, famous science-guy personality, to “do his own research” like Elon apparently does?

i love how after years of bullying twitter users, tumblr users are welcoming twitter people who have fled from the chaos that is elon musk’s purchase of twitter and providing shelter to them like a little camp with household rules

anyway, I think the whole thing with elon not understanding why people will make such a big deal about verification but are unwilling to pay for it just proves that elon has never worked for anything he has, he’s just bought it and doesn’t understand that some things can’t be bought and, in fact, lose their value and importance once they can be bought and sold by anyone. Verification was something you got after you gained a big enough public following that people might try to imitate you for clout. The platform verified that the account actually was you and not a case of catfishing. by charging eight dollars for verification it not only alienates users who can’t afford a monthly fee, any old ham and egger could buy a verification and pretend to be anyone they want, that’s already a problem on twitter, blue check accounts will change their name and photo and pretend to be a different verified account and make joke posts. can you IMAGINE what it’ll be like if you don’t have to even work for it? just pay eight dollars and commit social media identity fraud???

Idk why conservatives are so obsessed with creating a “free speech” social media. Like that’s Tumblr. Tumblr is what happens when masses of people go unmoderated and are allowed to be uncensorably feral, online. Like, sorry to break it to you, but a free speech social media doesn’t mean your conspiracies get spread, it means telling a Naruto stan that Naruto isn’t a twink and getting doxed and sent death threats.

At first I was like "don't let the Twitter people come here" but it's only been a few days and Twitter is burning in hellfire, I feel bad for them, this isn't something anyone deserves, you can come here just please pick a profile picture

there's gonna be three types of twitter refugees :
The minorities who run to tumblr to escape the inevitable death threats from the wave of edgy neckbeards coming to twitter (they're probably gonna be chill)
The generic white ass cishets who go to tumblr because everyone else did so (will probably give a fake ass apology for abandoning tumblr, then promptly either go back to twitter or become clout chasers to maintain relevancy on this website once the bandwagon dies off)
The edgy neckbeards and trolls who will probably follow No.1 and No.2, harass some people, and together with No.2, make tumblr discourse even more hellish than it already is
