I’m queer as fuck. To put it simply, I’m a genderqueer boy who is also asexual, biromantic, and arospec. To put it complicatedly, I’m a xenic nonbinary genderqueer boy who is also caelumgender, caelgender, gendercaecus, asexual, biromantic, arospec, and straightcian. There’s even more to that plus some questioning that I’m not even going to mention here.

Also, I’m a person of color! I’m Filipino, but I was born and raised in the US. My parents grew up in the Philippines, so I think that makes me second-generation.

that is an option, but some people prefer to have their emojipronouns be solely for online usage and go by additional sets of pronouns for IRL use; we explained this a bit more in-depth here

I was contemplating posting this on my other blog, @foxbanana23, but then I thought, why not here?

Anyways:

Emojipronouns are basically pronouns that are emojis.

For example, ☁️/☁️s would be used like this:

☁️ was walking down the street. I passed by ☁️. And ☁️ was walking ☁️s dog. But that new haircut of ☁️s caught my eye. I later learned that ☁️ cut it ☁️self.

Why are people using them?

There are many reasons someone might be using emojipronouns, just like there are many reasons someone might use basically any pronouns!

Maybe it reflects something about themself or their gender(s). Maybe they like the way it looks, or sounds in their head. 

How do you say them out loud?

That’s the thing, you don’t! Emojipronouns are meant to be text-based.

Emojipronoun users usually have a spoken nounself version (e.g. clo/cloud for ☁️/☁️s, lun/luna for 🌙/🌙s), another pronoun set that isn’t a nounself version, or no pronouns.

What if I have trouble using them?

That’s valid, for whatever reason you have trouble.

I’d suggest you do what you should do any time you have difficulty using someone’s pronouns: talk to them. Ask for an aux set, or if you should just use no pronouns.

This also goes for emojipronoun users! Understand that some people have a hard time using emojipronouns, and be prepared for alternatives for those people.
