I absolutely LOVE Jimmy's new prank.
Please, that's so fricking good!
I think we should consider this canon, just like with the toy Jimmy stuff. Joel isn't a god, he's just a very good illusionist. He's a scam artist.
And maybe it's not even his doing! Maybe that's just what the fountain does! It covers everything in pretty little illusions that fall away with the flick of a lever.
Joel's height? His beard? His whole floating kingdom? Nothing but a pretty illusion from the fountain. And he knows it. Oh, he knows it! That's why he's so insecure. That's why he has to constantly repeat to himself that he's tall, strong, and sexy. My man's a scam artist!

The rulers from more diverse climates (Fwhip, Gem, Scott, Katherine, Shubble, and Sausage) dress down slightly when they go to Mezalea, Pixandria, or The Ocean Empire on state business.
They wear looser more breathable fabrics, they walk with parasols or hide under the shade of trees to avoid the scorching heat and burning rays of the sun. Some of them decide to go barefoot, feeling the moss and sand as they walk.
They relax and lounge on the beach with a cold drink, beat the heat by taking a dip in the ocean. They genuinely enjoy the time they spend not stuck in meetings where the stuffy air and sweltering heat are inescapable.
On the other hand, the "Summer Empires" (Joel, Lizzie, and Pix) go through a hellish torture labyrinth when they have to visit the empires with cold climates during the winter- hell, during any time other than the summer.
Bundled up in multiple layers, violently shaking during meetings, spending every ounce of their free time huddled up in front of a roaring fireplace with a hot drink.
They think the snow is beautiful but going out to try and enjoy it or goof around is not worth getting soaked in the freezing cold. Ice skating, winter sports, completely out of the question because it's just more opportunities to pratfall and then get completely sopping wet when it's below freezing.
It's genuinely so pathetic, and they never ever get used to it. Jimmy just has to watch his allies nearly die from exposure every single year without fail.

some empires s2 scar headcanons
Scott's magical eye looks fine from a few feet away, but if you were to ever get close enough, you'd see the scarring beneath the gold, swollen and puffy in veins spreading our from the socket. He never complains of it hurting, but when it rains, it holds half-closed in a wince.
Joel's entrance to the world below left lasting scars, but they're only visible if he lets them show--only Sausage and Hermes have truly seen them. When his wings aren't out, there are two slits below his shoulder blades, gold trimmed; he has a lichtenburg scar across his chest and back; his hands are charred and blistered.
Pixl's scars are slightly mundane, but plentiful. His palms and fingers are calloused, skin tanned and often burned to a crisp from the hours he spends in the sun. His dedication to his work leaves his arms checkered with little cuts and sores, and he often shows up sporting a bruise from losing a fight with the mobs in the caves--he's a historian, not a soldier--but he finds the marks to be a part of life, neither ashamed nor proud. Now, they're hardly visible anyway; his whole translucent-undead-ghost thing is enough of a scar itself.
fWhip has unusual pockmarks deep along his shoulders where dripstone has fallen on him, and on his feet and shins where he's misstepped (a much rarer occasion, now that he's older, but it still happens sometimes), as well as almost splashes of burns across his face, chest and hands from several...mishaps, with explosives.
Gem is virtually scarless to those who visit Dawn. But despite her royal status, she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She's earned cross-hatched lines from zombie claws, arrowhead indents in her arms, and mysteriously, a few pockmarks along her shins and feet, as though she's tripped over dripstone many a time in her childhood.
Katherine, though, wears her scars with pride when she's out hunting--she earned them, through training and fighting. No monster is safe, and they're aware the minute they see the deep gouges along the muscles defined in her upper arms, and the easy way she holds her greataxe like it's nothing is as strong of a threat as any.
Lizzie is the opposite. No one gets close enough to see her scars, let alone the mask she's wearing on her face--so used to masquerading as human, whatever hurts she harbors are as hidden as can be. Present the facade and don't be found out. Nothing can raise questions.
Sausage has hooked slashes across his chest and hips, arrow marks on his shoulders and back, and many more--every three inches is a mark on his skin. It comes with being a protector. He's okay with it, throwing himself in front of the ones in need as a shield and a fighter. The scars are honorable, to him. He's earned them. In more ways than one.
Joey has far too many arrow wounds. Skeletons seem to personally hate him, and he knows well why. There are longer slashes across his back from his lower days, thin like a whip mark and irregularly healed like they were never bandaged, left open to the salty air, and his face is burnt and freckled from weeks below the sun, with a handful of cuts on his lip and cheek.
Jimmy's got scars, sure. A handful of burns, some thicker cuts from monsters raiding the Mesa, it's all normal, comes with the territory. Perhaps somewhere on his shoulders is a two-sided hole-shaped indent, in one side and out the back, eerily reminiscent of a gunshot wound. And maybe every time Joel looks him in the eye, his joints all ache like they're made of plastic. But he can work through it. He's the Sheriff, after all.
Shubble's lost track of where her scars should be. She remembers tripping and spilling a mug of tea, and stepping on the ceramic shards; intuitively she knows there should be a mark on her foot where she stitched and healed the wound. She knows it's there, but she can't see her skin below the sculk anymore.

heeebeedeebs ok, so, any headcanons for the marriage of state au on like....uh.... heh.... burial customs? for like... the cod alliance?
(also maybe also wither rose toooooo????)
ooooooooo!
So I actually hadn't thought about this yet which is why it took me a couple of days to answer, i had to poke at it a bit. So now I do have thoughts!
This might get a little bit gruesome, along the lines of frank discussions of dead bodies and disposal thereof.
Cod Alliance
The Swamp being...swampy, it doesn't lend itself to burial very well. The honored dead are burned (dry wood is a valuable resource) and the dishonored dead are basically dumped in a specific corner of the swamp very heavily populated with Things That Eat People. (Mostly Catfish and Alligators, this is an American South swamp/bayou biome in my heart, which does, unfortunately, mean they have mosquitoes) They also have wakes, like full party mode, music and alcohol and stories of the deceased. They were also an occupied territory for several centuries, with very few resources left to them, community support in time of bereavement is very important. Especially in situations where the deceased supported a family.
The Ocean Empire buries at sea. The dead are weighted down and taken to the Deep Ocean and dropped there. Think whale fall. They are a bit more solemn about their rituals than The Swamp but there are several similarities. They have an appointed grieving period of two weeks, during which the loved ones of the deceased are sequestered.
Mezaleans build mausoleums. Their dead are burned and the ashes interred with their families or, for an honored few, mostly royals who provided exceptional service to their people, beneath the Mother Tree. There is also a public mausoleum in each city for those without families, though those people are few, as Mezaleans engage in liberal social adoption. Most people find themselves quietly absorbed into some sort of family unit before they have been alone too long (but that is a whole nother post). They also tend to build memorials, ranging from small potted gardens of favorite flowers to full, larger-than-life statues. They don't believe in reincarnation so much as in redistribution of energy and preservation of memory.
Pixandria, for somewhat obvious reasons, has a very unique relationship with death (and also Death). They also have a party, celebrating the passage from life to death, though theirs is less focused on memories of the past than the Swamp and more on congratulating the dead on their migration to the next stage of existence. Every death celebration includes a seat at the table for Death herself, that is kept liberally supplied with food and alcohol at all stages of the festivities. They bury their dead, and quickly, since corpses don't keep long in the desert. Priests and royals are buried in catacombs beneath the Anthill while everyone else is buried in one of a few designated locations in the desert. (The party does not start until everyone is safely back in the oasis or Anthill, as travelling drunk through the desert is a good way to end up having to repeat the entire event again very shortly, and while they do not fear death, they do also value life.)
Wither Rose Alliance
Mythland also buries their dead. I haven't thought too much about the details but the primary religion of the region is a blood cult so there is definitely something done with the blood of the deceased. It's drained from the body and they use it for some sort of memorial ritual. These are not open to outsiders and are usually closed affairs involving only the family and close friends of the deceased and a single priest of the blood sheep.
The Crystal Cliffs, as an empire made up in no small part of people who are direct transplants from other empires, do their best to honor the cultural practices of the deceased. If not, they practice a form of sky burial, as the sheer stone cliffs don't offer a lot of burial opportunities and they territory is too small for it to be practical. The native population consider dead bodies functionally as waste matter, no longer important once it is no longer inhabited by a living soul. It's just a matter of practical disposal. Though as stated, they will go to great lengths to respect the wishes of the dead regarding the disposal of their bodies, including transporting them all the way to Pixandria if necessary.
The Grimlands also bury their dead. (You can see some similarities here, in this alliance.) They have a couple of different regional variations, but they do bury their dead. If the deceased died of illness or redstone poisoning they are burned, to avoid contaminating the land or the living. They usually have a memorial service, and immediate relatives are expected to undergo a grieving schedule not unlike the Ocean. (This probably came from the salmon hybrid population)
Gilded Helianthia, like their primary allies, buries their dead but they do so fully communally, and without any kind of coffins or excess wrappings. Where you are buried depends entirely on when you die. Bodies are left in the ground for five years, to allow full decomposition of all tissues, then the bones are exhumed and burned and the ashes scattered over the ground they were buried in. Once a zone has been completely exhumed, it is converted into farmland. This is one of the ways they rotate their croplands and maintain soil health.
Rivendell has a couple of different burial traditions, depending on how high in the mountains you are. They have a relatively small population, and their birth and death rates are such that it remains fairly steady. Which is to say, both death and birth are fairly rare, when nature is allowed to run its course. (This does mean that things such as war, famine, and sickness can be devastating for them, as it can be very difficult to recoup the population loss) Death is a solemn affair, funeral rites take place over the course of at least a week, and the body is displayed for a significant portion of that. The cold climates of the mountain allow for that. Afterwards the body is burned and the ashes either scattered from a high peak, or into the river, depending on where the deceased lived. This releases the soul for reincarnation, and to deny this to someone is a very serious statement. Mourning periods vary from 1-10 years, depending on relationship with the deceased, age of the mourner, age of the deceased, and several other factors. The grieving are monitored carefully for signs of Fading during this time.
The Lost Empire has four different distinct burial traditions, equating to the four elements their culture is based around. Pyre, burial, sky burial (done from the tree-tops), and water burial. The rulers are buried on a rotation. (Joey is scheduled to be burned after death, and he maintains this is incredibly romantic given Xornoth's own elemental powers. Xornoth thinks he's weird.)
Everyone Else
It's literally just the Overgrown and Undergrove left at this point so might as well XD
The Overgrown, being fae, and having a very strong nature alignment, return their bodies to the Spring. Fae bodies also, to put it bluntly, decompose very, very quickly. Almost dissolving over the course of a day or so. Burial is swift and flowers are planted to memorialize the deceased.
The Undergrove does not currently have a population beyond Shrub themself, but the gnomes were/are fungal farmers and had very practical views on the burial of bodies, not dissimilar to those of Gilded Helianthia.

Random Empires Ideas
A small collection of theories and Headcanons for Empires
1) I don’t know if this is just me pushing a Nature Wives Agenda, but it feels like there’s no way that Shub’s corruption arc doesn’t end with a “I know you’re in there” fight with Katherine. It would be so satisfying.
2) Thinking about Gem’s whole deal, I’m starting to develop an idea where she’s an ascended god, like Pearl. Right now, I’m thinking she was a normal person with a ton of pressure and responsibility, and since she has ascended, she’s able to live the lives she thought she never would be able to. Also, I like to think that if Gem is a God, then her church is her subtly building up a following for herself.
3) I like to think Pix is in the same boat as Gem, although I think of him more as an old god, who is just vibing on earth now, cause he can. Basically characters who routinely break the fourth wall
4) Every time False releases a Hermitcraft video, I get a little more nervous, because given her last empires video, when we don’t see Empires False, she is possessed, and I don’t think whatever entity is possessing her is very nice.
5) I don’t have a concrete idea, but somehow, the defeat of Evil Sausage is going to depend on Pearl. Definitely Saint Pearl, maybe hermitcraft Pearl. I suspect Pearl placed Sausage (And maybe Oli) in this world for the specific purpose of defeating Evil Sausage.

Something something Scott aggressively flirting with Jimmy when they first meet in preparation for what the Sheriff really wants out of this trade
Something something Jimmy being confused and dense as a rock, just wanting to get the trade on
Something something Scott convincing himself he was just playing hard to get so he just keeps flirting but Jimmy is still just left confused and flustered. Anytime he tries to talk to the colorful faun he’s always met with flirts and innuendos.
Something something Scott eventually realizing that Jimmy genuinely wants to befriend him, get to know him, but he didn’t allow himself to open up so now Jimmy’s just freaked out by him because all he wants to do is flirt. Jimmy also realizes his feelings but doesn’t pursue them because he’s afraid that Scott won’t take it seriously, that he’ll just play around with his emotions because he’s good at taking advantage of people with his charm when really it’s what he was forced to do his whole life to survive.
Something something Scott is sad and lonely with an abundance of trauma and Jimmy is confused and frustrated

My angst-loving fandom writer self: hey what if the reason Jimmy gets so upset when people call him a toy is because of some kinda trauma, lol jk jk, unless...
And then I started expanding on it because like I said... that’s just what I do. Like, for example, what if he’s a toy who got treated badly because people thought of him as a plaything with no feelings (or at least that his feelings don’t matter), so they treated him as such, and he’s afraid that if these NEW people find out he’s a toy, they’ll mistreat him, too?
This idea came about when seeing fanart of giant Joel lifting him into the air and pulling his string to make him say things, and my mind went to Jimmy frantically covering his mouth and trying to deny it, maybe even freaking out so much that even Joel sincerely asks “Dude, are you okay?”
While I’m here, I’d like to share another idea/headcanon: Jimmy is scared of being touched because people will obviously feel his not-skin and start asking questions that he doesn’t want to answer.

He's not one for "baby" but he likes "babe". He'll use "baby" if he's tired or flirting just to make Jimmy flustered.
Jimmy's for Tango include

Jimmy doesn't really use "babe" or "baby" he just doesn't like them as petnames for Tango but he likes being called them :)

Empires SMP settlements as Archeological sites according to me, your local archeology student.
Over all notes.
-According to Sausage (his first episode), Empires 2 is set over a 1000 years after Empires 1. So all of my headcanons will be based mostly on early medieval period knows also as The Viking Age in terms of preservation - real life equivalent of "over a 1000 years ago".
-Archeological findings are very depending on the place they are in, and the type of settlements.
-That being said, I assume that most of empires from season 1 would be considered a city state, similar to poleis of ancient Greece.
-On that note, even if it's not active part of Minecraft itself, i will make a series of headcanons including: Pottery bc pottery is one of the most common findings, graveyards if needed, the characteristics of the biomes that are not part of Minecraft and probably something more that i forgot
-I assume that the water level after the drain get to normal in the years that follows, bc if we assume that Empires has similar climate to our owns, it would go up over that 1000+ years anyways.
The Cod Empire
- it would be by now a bunch of stakes sticking from the bottom of the shore, bc it was mostly made out of wood and wood will not survive this long if left on free air for long.
-Everything made out of stone will hold, turn into ruins over time. Looking at the area that once was The Cod Empire you can see a rock structure, a ruin that once was used as a Church of some sorts maybe meeting hall? Maybe both, noe one knows for sure.
-It was on swamp tho, and if there was peat bog anywhere everything that goes in it, will survive that amount of time, longer even, wood, maybe fabrics, it's perfect condition to preserve dead bodies too, we are talking skin, hair and organs intact way. Tho it's not always the case, and bones are a different story bc peat is pretty acidity which is not good for them.
-There might be a bit of a chance that some buildings survived if it was swollen by the swamp (peat bog again, it's just that good shit). It will not look pretty but the shape will hold (probably).
-Archeological dig in Cod Empire would take years if not a decade+. It's not bc how big Cod Empire was, but how many thing was preserved by the peat bog. And the peat bog is still a peat bog so it's difficult to work with.
-I imagine Pottery from Cod Empires as handmade. Very simple, thick, wonky probably a bit asymmetrical. It might be just plain but it also might be decorated with cuts and print of various things (ropes and shit probably). There's also a lot of dishes made out of wood, in shapes and decoration that looks the same.
-Fun fact, if Minecraft had butter, it would survive too. Peak bog, everybody.
-Bc of it's location, Cod Empire might be the best preserved empire from them all. Gods bless the peak bog in it's wet, sticky and no oxygen policy glory.
It might get part two idk if i will jave the mental power to do so tho

Hello lonely traveler can i over you some empires Oli headcanons 🤝
-Oli os still used to being an enderman and sometimes (a lot of the time) forgets he isn't anymore
-Although no longer an enderman, he can still talk to them and understand their language perfectly
-Like one time Lizzie got stuck up a tree ans Oli went "Don't worry, I got this." And just stood there for 2 minutes trying to teleport before grabbing a ladder
-He still has a relatively high aversion to water but he's making steps towards getting used to it
-Sometimes he just gets the people he knew in Afterlife confused with the people in Empires and he'll go "oh remember when this happened" and they have no idea what the hell he's talking about
-Additionally most people concider Oli's tales to be like 70% made up stories he just made up to share
-Kind of has a grudge against saint Pearl after seeing Afterlife!Sausage just in her house permanently asleep
-Which sometimes makes him scared of Hermitcraft!Pearl because they look identical
-Does sometimes double check to see if Sausage doesn't secretly have wings or a halo

OK so in Joel's new episode he references a book about pirate Princesses, I know it's probably a throw away joke about Katherine bUT-
What if pirate Joe's onto something with Katherine?
What if Katherine's mom was a pirate princess before getting with her dad? And Katherine's curse is actually a generational one her mom had gotten in her voyages?
What if the curse had existed longer but got more powerful when Katherine was born due to there now being 2 people with the curse
What if the cure lies somewhere in the seas

I'm sick and awake at an unreasonable hour, so it's Empires time!
So, while I was stuck between sleeping and being awake I got thinking of what it'd be like to be an interior designer in Empires. Weirdly specific, I know, but here we go!
Sanctuary: Sausage contacts you directly. When you arrive there the outside is already built and all the blocks are provided. Maybe this will be a standard job then. You get to assembling everything, tables, chairs, a stage... there are only two boxes left. You open them: they're pole dancing poles. You sigh and get to building that too. It could have been worse, at least he's not a zombie this time.
GlimmerGrove: Not only are you contacted directly by Katherine, you're also surprised because she usually doesn't like having outsiders. You get blindfolded at the entrance of the kingdom and they only take it off once you're in a dark unsettling room with a metalling scent to it. The light gets turned on. There's a pile of bloody severed monster skulls on the floor. Katherine asks you to help them look cute. You don't get paid enough for this shit.
Stratos: The request for your help goes through so much bureaucracy that you're not even sure God Joel is aware you're coming. You go anyway. You aren't told whether your job is in Lower or Upper Stratos and nobody knows anything. Once you finally make your way to Upper Stratos Joel pushes you into one of the holes in his bridges "for fun". You don't die by poor chance but you decide that it's time to leave regardless.
Olipoligo: You got a request in the form of a parrot learning a song about interiors and singing it back to you. It's so unusual that you decide to go. Oli is there trying to hold his colorful tent together with his will and failing. You decide to help and not only secure the tent but build it a lovely interior. It's time for payment, Oli points at a weird egg behind you and, once you turn around again, he's gone. Goddammit.
Evermoore: There's been a request sitting on your shelf for ages. It's gonna remain there. After the experience with Stratos you're not getting anywhere near the cursed fog ever.
Eversea: You make the mistake of going once. At first, it looks like everything is going well. There are no blocks out for you, but you have no problems providing those for an additional fee. You finish decorating the interior of all the new houses. Pirate Joe points his pistol at you and asks you to hand over all your goods. You haven't been paid since GlimmerGrove. It's awkward for both of you.
Gobland: For the first time ever you get paid upfront. All you're asked for is not to ask questions and to work around the chickens. Sounds easy enough. It's not easy. There are chickens everywhere and new ones pop out constantly. If that wasn't enough to get Fwhip to flip, his boss? Ex-boyfriend? Whatever the Sheriff is has just either fired him or broken up with him. Either way, Fwhip has not taken it well. You get through it by politely nodding to everything he says.
Ancient Capital: You're greeted on the bridge by its only inhabitant. He brings you to a statue and then down under it. There are graves everywhere, but you try to ignore that detail. He stops in front of more graves and asks you with no hint of joking if you can make the place look cozy. You want to cry, but at least he's paying...
Cogsmade: This one is another surprise, as the ruler likes to keep to herself. You still go. There's an unsettling pumpkin statue on the bridge, you try to ignore it. False does too. Perhaps that's the reason why she asked for help decorating. You head inside, the pumpkin guy statue is in there as well. You try to ignore it again, but it doesn't work. The thing hands you a clock somehow without moving. You're out of there before anyone can say anything else. Not worth the money.
Tumble Town: You both know you aren't gonna get paid for this job, but it beats getting arrested, so you take up the Sheriff's request. You do get paid by Joel to fit in his house as many Toy Story references as you can. You don't regret as thing as you comply. You gotta admit it's kinda funny after all.
Dawn: You think you're finally getting a regular job. Princess Gem promised you enough gold to settle down for good for a bit of a house renovation. You work hard and you have a smile on your face the whole time. Finally, you're done. It's time for the payment, Gem pulls out all the gold you could wish for... or was supposed to. That's honey. All of that is honey. At least your life will be a bit sweeter from now on.
Animalia: You weren't even there for a job, you just wanted to buy some amethyst. And yet, Major Lizzie finds you and drags you into one of the houses. She offers you raw chicken and amethyst to make it seem like no butchers accidentally died in there. This may as well happen. You do a great job if you say so yourself, and get paid as promised. You never talk about it ever again.
Chromia: You heard crazy things about the ruler of the place, so you're already dreading your visit. Things take a turn for the worst when the person who comes to greet you is actually a llama. Not an anthropomorphic one like Animalia's citizens, just a normal regular llama. You still decide to go through with it. It... goes surprisingly well. You get paid normally and you only have to sit through a few hours of Scott thirsting for Sausage. Overall, you think you got desensitized to that shit by now.

Constructs are not uncommon in the Empires universe. There’s several of them, from the iron defenders of the villages, to the cleaners from the streets of the Grimlands, to the wooden citizens of the Undergrove, to whatever the heck was up with Joel’s old villagers. So it makes sense that as the centuries went by, the creation of constructs got more and more advanced, to the point where some engineers would attempt to create a construct of some kind that's completely indistinguishable from a regular human.
And sure, maybe Jimmy used to spend a bit of time around some of those engineers and have seen some of their progress, and maybe he can’t remember anything before waking up in the home of one of said engineers, but that doesn’t mean anything. He’s seen the failed attempts that get discarded and forgotten like a children’s toy, and he’s never seen a single success. He’d know if he was a construct, and surely he’d have been told if he was, right? He’s human in every way! He’s not someone’s creation, he’s a real person! Someone who can make their own decisions and build a whole life for himself and any others who want to join his little town! He’s not a toy to be thrown away like all those others!

Mezalean people are allowed to customize and change themselves after King Joel got bored and sick of just seeing his face all around him. It's quite patronizing and funny, yes, but as per his principles, he should break the homogeneity of his people just like what he did to the mesa.
He can't do it on his own because, even he doesn't admit it, he can't sculpt anything humanoid without it looking like him or having a resemblance to him. After all, with the lifeless mesa, the only "human" he knows and sees through his eyes is himself, in front of the mirror.
He allowed them to have their own names, their own personalities, and their identities. They could change how they look through some terracotta surgery performed by professionals that are assigned by the king himself and mentored through his life. After all, their terracotta bodies aren't that fragile and sensitive to changes. Although, there are still operations that are harder than others and aren't allowed in the kingdom because it harms oneself. Of course, danger isn't avoidable, even with their tough bodies.
Since Mezalean people are naturally genderless and birthed to this world without any assigned sex (they don't need to, they are created by their king through the Mother Tree's help), they adapt different gender identities. Neopronouns are very popular in Mezalea, and it's a common courtesy to ask someone's pronouns. Some of them assigned themselves to the two most common gender identities, being masculine and feminine, and others don't.
Even with that, they mostly have their own unique identities gender-wise. Feminine Mezaleans might prefer he/him pronouns even they identify themselves as the latter. It's rare for the Mezalean people to have one way or the other.
The king doesn't mind all of this, as long his people are happy, he's happy. Besides, this is what he envisioned before when he declared that freedom to them.
It's quite complicated for the other nations to understand this when they first discovered the lush land among the dry arid mesa. With further social studies and incremental amount of researchers boggling the king about how did this happen, some of the other nations' citizen followed how the gender construct of Mezalea has. Some of the researchers even managed to group up certain gender groups into a manageable label for them to understand an ounce of it.
The culture of Mezalea spread across the continent and became news to other nations. It's as colorful as the nation's banner and architecture. The king doesn't mind it, after all, for the very first day he created one of his subjects, he knew that he should give the freedom that the Mother Tree gave him to his people in the future.

Empires smp Headcanons
Been having all of these in mind for a LONG long while. Many of these have been built up over the past months after reading different headcanons, fics, and content, along with my obsession over world building and fictional politics. So I feel like I need to make my own set of headcanons and AUs especially with a (maybe) future project related to this world.
So first I'm gonna lay out the basic politics in this world, starting out with which emperor is and isn't mortal. Why is that important? Well let's see,
(Important to note that I haven't watched every pov so there might be some holes and inaccuracies to canon here and there)
First of, most of the empires and nations could be categorized as either ruled by mortals or immortals/semi-immortals.
Mortals are typically the rulers of Pixandria, Mazelea, Mythland, Gilded Helianthia, the Lost Empire, the Crystal Cliffs, and the Grimlands.
Meanwhile Rivendell, The Codlands, The Overgrown, The Undergrove, and The Ocean Empire have semi-immortal rulers. Semi-immortal meaning that they live longer lives compared to the average human.
However, this is different from the Ocean and Codlands. For example, the merlings of the ocean empire and Codlands aren't as immortal as their rulers (Lizzie and Jimmy) but only have longer life spans in comparison.
Historically there has been 5 nations that have major political, cultural, and magical influences on the continent, Rivendell, Mazelea, The Ocean Empire, The  Lost Empire, and Mythland.
The Grimlands however has gained prominence for the past couple of decades due to their exports on gunpowder, weaponry, and technology. Primarily a farming nation, today people of different nations would travel to the Grimlands just to study advance redstone tech.
The Crystal Cliffs used to be an autonomous region from the Grimlands. They were given independence by the Grimlands peacefully after an agreement between the Count and Head Wizard. Most of the residents are of Grimland heritage, however the region has heavy Elven and Fae influences.
The political affairs of the Crystal Cliffs are handled by the Head Wizard, who is chosen by Gandalf (an immortal cat) in a ceremony. It is important for the Head Wizard to find a balance and intervene between the mortals and immortals. This typically leads to the Crystal Cliffs being neutral in most conflicts.
In a unique sense, the Crystal Cliffs is ruled by both a mortal (the head wizard) and an immortal (Gandalf the cat).
Gilded Helianthia used to be under the Empire of Mythland until they declared independence from them. This revolution was supported by Rivendell, the Overgrown, and the Codlands.
Rivendell saw the revolution by the Helianthians as a good way to cripple Mythland’s expanding influence from the northwest, and by extension, the Blood Sheep’s influence.
The Overgrown, headed by House Blossom, aided in the conflict because of the good relations between the Fae and the Helianthians. Helianthia had a culture and religion that closely respects nature, something that the Fae favored.
The Codland emperor meanwhile just did not like Mythland. They’ve been in conflict for centuries and Jimmy jumped on the opportunity to own Mythland somehow.
So Jimmy had his people fighting on the north, warding off Mazaelean forces from aiding Mythland.
His sister remained neutral during this period, however gave aid by sending troops to Codland in guise of Codlanders returning from the Ocean pilgrimage.
Important to note, all of this event happened two generation before Scott’s time period. So this would include Katherine, who avoids conflicts at all cost.
During this period, Mythland’s empire stretched to the west of the jungle, a territory that used to belong to the Lost Empire.
Mythland didn’t wanted to let go of the Helianthian region due to the fertile soil from the flood plains. The region produces majority of the wheat and other food products that Mythland heavily relies on to feed their populous and armies. This has been Mythland’s advantage over several nations and many nations also relied on Mythland for this.
Mythland in this conflict was supported by the Grimlands and Mazaelea. The Grimland was in a centuries long alliance meanwhile Mazaelea had a treaty with them.
The produce from the Grimlands aided Mythland in the war when they lost access to Helianthia’s farmlands.
This made the Fae and Elven armies advance to the southern jungles of the collapsing Lost Empire, intercepting Grimland exports to the north.
The Lost Empire was primarily neutral to the conflict. The rulers found the advancing Elven and Fae armies alarming and asked a meeting with the leaders of both nations.
They signed a treaty with them that the region will be given back to the Lost Empire if they allowed their armies to cut off the Grimlands' exports of potatoes to Mythland and Mazaelea.
This led to a great lost in Mythland, eventually giving Gilded Helianthia its independence.
The surrender also had Mythland give up a region of the jungle back to the Lost Empire (these territories did not lasted in their hands for too long due to internal politics and went back to Mythland within 20 years) along with disputed territories with Codlands.
For a long period after the revolution, Helianthia had hostilities with Mythland. This eventually mellowed out over a few centuries and nowadays the two nations are political allies that do regular trade with each other.
At one point in history, Mythland had a queen consort from Helianthia. This Helianthian queen helped Gilded Helianthia eased into the Wither Rose Alliance, allowing the nation to gain more trade and military benefits from the Grimlands.
The Wither Rose Alliance is a centuries old ally ship created mainly by the rulers of the Grimlands and Mythland before the Crystal Cliffs separated from the former. The alliance was created due to having a shared enemy with the Cod empire and to strengthen trade and military support.
The Crystal Cliffs originally was not a part of the alliance after their independence due to the nation’s desire to stay neutral. The nation only joined 5 decades after the Helianthian War of independence.

HeadCanons about God Pearl and her Religion
Head Cannons, mostly about how Pearl’s godhood is treated in the world of empires by the people of empires.
1) She is the goddess of Lost Souls, Second Chances and Perseverance.
2) Despite being generally known to be some kind of divine figure, she is rarely referred to as a goddess, and doing so could get you some weird looks. Though it has been lost where this comes from, it’s generally understood that the goddess doesn’t want to be referred to as a goddess.
2.5) Because of this, she is usually called either Saint Pearl, Queen Pearl, the Queen Protector or some other combination of those words. However, a lot of her closest followers just call her Pearl, which is seen as bizarre for a goddess.
Her full title is Queen Pearl the Ascended of Gilded Helianthia, Patron Saint of the Damned, Protector of Lost Souls, Goddess of Grit, The Shield of the Empires. According to an old wives tale, if you say her full title, you’ll wake up the next day feeling like you haven’t slept at all.
3) Her worship tends to rise and fall a lot, so no cohesive church has formed around her, outside of a few scattered monasteries, churches, and temples. What there are a lot of are sanctuaries to house people in need, founded by her clerics and worshippers. These sanctuaries have food, places to sleep, and many have libraries and communities that grow around them.
They accept all people, with no questions asked, often mentioning a myth about a sanctuary who turned away a woman with a red cloak and a bloody axe asking for a place for her and her Wolf to sleep. After being rejected, the woman revealed herself as the Queen and the cleric responsible lost his powers for a month.
4) There is an ongoing debate among historians whether or not the Queen Protector is a real historical figure, based on a historical figure, or completely made up. Though there are many detailed stories that have survived of her, some of them seem far-fetched, especially the famed one of fighting Xornoth one on one and reporting as, “A lot of Fun.”
Another point of debate is the origin of the moon being a symbol of hers. It’s not really associated with farming or war, usually. Most of her symbols, the red cloak, the ducky, crossroads, make sense. Friendships have been ended, lives ruined trying to figure out why. Perhaps it is the goddess’s final prank on the world.
5) Some worshippers believe her to be a death Goddess, since she is often reported to be seen by people during near-death experiences, however this may be part of her God of second chances deal.
6) In some Empires the title of Queen/ King is no longer used for the ruler, because they consider Queen Pearl to be sovereign over their land. One such Empire is Dawn, which is why Gem is a Princess, not a Queen.
