The Beautiful Vagabond Palatine Princesses…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These beautiful Palatine princesses were the daughters of Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia (1596-1662). They were:
Princess Elisabeth of the Palatinate (1618-1680). A gifted philosopher, she corresponded with many intellectuals including Descartes. She was nicknamed the Greek by her siblings due to being gifted in classical languages. In her 40s, she entered the Lutheran convent at Herford in what is now Germany and eventually became an abbess.
Princess Louise Hollandine of the Palatinate (1622-1709). Like her older brother Rupert, she was a very talented artist and was a student of the Dutch artist Gerard van Honthorst. In late 1657, she fled from Holland to France, eventually converting into Catholicism and becoming a nun. She eventually became an abbess in the Cistercian Maubuisson Abbey. Her mother was so infuriated with her conversion that Louise didn’t receive anything from her mother’s will.
Princess Henriette Marie of the Palatinate (1626-1651). She was named after her French-born aunt Queen Henrietta Maria of England. Unfortunately, not much is know about her except she wasn’t as gifted as her siblings and she was sickly. In April 1651, she married Sigismund Rakoczi, the brother of the Prince of Transylvania. She sadly died five months later (and her husband followed her to the grave a few months later).
Princess Sophia of the Palatinate, later Electress of Hanover (1630-1714). She is the ancestress of the current British royal family. She was a patron of the arts, a very gifted writer and highly intelligent. In 1658, she married Ernest August, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg and had seven children including King George I of Great Britain. She was nearly close on becoming Queen of Great Britain herself, but died two months before Queen Anne of Great Britain.

Queen Victoria’s Descendants (FULL LIST)
If you see any mistakes or can offer info on something like “Child 1” or an unknown birth or death year, please let me know.
Key
Bold names=Queen Victoria’s children
Strike through=deceased and I feel like I’ve gotten to the bottom of their line, and eventually, 20,000 years from now when I feel like I’m done with this list, I’ll delete it-after all, this is the list of Queen Victoria’s LIVING descendants.
* Descendants are already listed elsewhere on this list or the ones who would follow said person Ex:  Mark Nicholas van Eyck should be followed by  Princess Dorothea of Hesse but she and her descendants are also descended elsewhere. Another example is Queen Elizabeth II & The Duke of Edinburgh’s descendants. Or the descendants of Princess Sibulla of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha (Sweden)
** I’ve seen reports that she died in 2002, but no obituary. Any ideas?
Bold and Italics together on one name denotes this person is presently the eldest and longest lived person of Queen Victoria (The Duke of Edinburgh)

ON THIS DAY IN ROYAL HISTORY . 28 May 1660 . 👑 King George I of Great Britain was born . . ◼ George was born on 28 May 1660 in Hanover in the Holy Roman Empire. He was the eldest son of Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, & his wife, Sophia of the Palatinate. Sophia was the granddaughter of King James I of England through her mother, Elizabeth of Bohemia. . ◼ George I was the King of Great Britain & Ireland from 1 August 1714 until his death, & ruler of the Duchy and Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg (Hanover) in the Holy Roman Empire from 1698. . ◼ George inherited the titles & lands of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg from his father & uncles. A succession of European wars expanded his German domains during his lifetime, & in 1708 he was ratified as prince-elector of Hanover. . ◼ At the age of 54, after the death of Queen Anne of Great Britain, George ascended the British throne as the first monarch of the House of Hanover. Although over fifty Roman Catholics bore closer blood relationships to Anne, the Act of Settlement 1701 prohibited Catholics from inheriting the British throne; George was Anne’s closest living Protestant relative. In reaction, Jacobites attempted to depose George & replace him with Anne’s Catholic half-brother, James Francis Edward Stuart, but their attempts failed. . ◼ During George’s reign, the powers of the monarchy diminished & Britain began a transition to the modern system of cabinet government led by a prime minister. Towards the end of his reign, actual power was held by Sir Robert Walpole, now recognised as Britain’s first de facto prime minister. George died 11 June 1727 on a trip to his native Hanover, where he was buried. . . . #OnThisDayInHistory #ThisDayInHistory #TheYear1660 #GeorgeI #KingGeorgeI #King #KingofGreatBritain #HouseofHanover #Hanoverian #Royalty #Royal #d28may #Theking #RoyalHistory #RoyalFamily #historyfact #HistoryFacts #OnThisDay #RoyalHistory #otd #bornonthisday #Bornthisdayinhistory #theking #Hanoverian #Hanover #portraitpainting (at Hanover, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAvnFYOj7ju/?igshid=1rm6rkk8xk57g

Sophia Dorothea of Celle, Electoral Princess of Hanover (1666-1726)
Daughter of a Love Match
Daughter of George William, Duke of Brunswick-Luneberg ruler of Celle and his mistress Eleanore d’Esmier d’Olbreuse (morganatically married because they were of different social ranks). Sophia was legitimized in 1674, her mother was made the Duchess of Wilhelmsburg, and in 1676 her mother and father were married officially.
Marriage to “that pig snout!” Cousin
Sophia became a very eligible woman on the marriage market because she brought with her a large dowry, but instead making a match abroad or with someone appealing she was married to her cousin, George Louis. George Louis was also in the line of English succession through his mother’s lineage.
Troubled Marriage
Sophia and George Louis had a problematic marriage, because they both disliked each other. They would have loud arguments where they both criticized each other. However, they did have two children: George August (later King George II of England and father of George III) and Sophia Dorothea (later mother of Frederick the Great of Prussia).
Estrangement and Extramarital Affairs
When George Louis took up with Melusina von Schulenburg, he was began to actively ignore his wife, Sophia Dorothea. During this period of their marriage Sophia herself took up with someone, the Swedish Count Philip Christoph von Königsmarck. He was reportedly very handsome and tall. Sophia and Königsmarck were already acquainted in Celle when they were younger, and they were attracted to each other then. Upon returning to Hanover, Sophia and Königsmarck took up with each other again more seriously. They began to write each other passionate love letters. By putting their affair on paper, it made it easier for Sophia’s father-in-law, Ernest August, the Elector of Hanover, find out about it. Königsmarck was sent back into military service, this time fighting for the Hanoverians against Louis XIV. Königsmarck left his assigned post to return to Hanover; Ernest August responded by exiling him.
Failed Elopement, Murder, and Imprisonment
At this point George Louis was aware of the affair between Sophia and Königsmarck. When the two lovers planned to elope in 1694, George Louis’ current mistress, the Countess Clara Elisabeth von Platen had found out and told George Louis. Whether George Louis sent his men to intercept Königsmarck or not, the Count never made it to his rendezvous with Sophia and he disappeared. Some sources say that after he was murdered in the Leine Palace his body was put under the corridor floorboards and quicklime was used to decompose his body. Other sources say that he was thrown into the Leine river (this is a new one to me, I had never heard this version).  Not only was Sophia Dorothea’s marriage to George Louis dissolved, but she was under house arrest for the rest of her life, which was more than thirty years. When Sophia Dorothea died, George Louis forbid mourning for her in London (he was King of Great Britain at this point) and Hanover, however, his daughter Sophia Dorothea’s court in Berlin mourned for her. George Louis died four weeks later.

People that have married in to Royal Families since 1800
Greece
Frederica of Hanover born 18 April 1917 and died 6 February 1981
Born Her Royal Highness Princess Frederica of Hanover, of Great Britain and Ireland, and of Brunswick-Lüneburg on 18 April 1917 in Blankenburg am Harz, in the German Duchy of Brunswick, she was the only daughter of Ernest Augustus, then reigning Duke of Brunswick, and his wife Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia, herself the only daughter of the German Emperor Wilhelm II. Both her father and maternal grandfather would abdicate their crowns in November 1918 following Germany's defeat in World War I, and her paternal grandfather would be stripped of his British royal dukedom the following year.
As a descendant of Queen Victoria, she was, at birth, 34th in the line of succession to the British throne. In 1934, Adolf Hitler, in his ambition to link the British and German royal houses, asked for Frederica's parents to arrange for the marriage of their seventeen-year-old daughter to the Prince of Wales. In her memoirs, Frederica's mother described that she and her husband were "shattered" and such a possibility "had never entered our minds". Victoria Louise herself had once been considered as a potential bride for the very same person prior to her marriage. Moreover, the age difference was too great (the Prince of Wales was twenty-two years Frederica's senior), and her parents were unwilling to "put any such pressure" on their daughter.
Prince Paul of Greece, her mother's paternal first cousin, proposed to her during the summer of 1936, while he was in Berlin attending the 1936 Summer Olympics. Paul was a son of King Constantine I and Frederica's grand-aunt Sophia. Their engagement was announced officially on 28 September 1937, and Britain's King George VI gave his consent pursuant to the Royal Marriages Act 1772 on 26 December 1937. They married in Athens on 9 January 1938. Frederica became Hereditary Princess of Greece, her husband being heir presumptive to his childless elder brother, King George II. During the early part of their marriage, they resided at a Villa in Psychiko in the suburbs of Athens. Ten months after their marriage, their first child, the future Queen Sofia of Spain, was born on 2 November 1938. On 2 June 1940, Frederica gave birth to the future King Constantine II.
At the peak of World War II, in April 1941, the Greek Royal Family was evacuated to Crete in a Sunderland flying boat. Shortly afterwards, the German forces attacked Crete. Frederica and her family were evacuated again, setting up a government-in-exile office in London. In exile, King George II and the rest of the Greek Royal Family settled in South Africa. Here Frederica's last child, Princess Irene, was born on 11 May 1942. The South African leader, General Jan Smuts, served as her godfather. The family eventually settled in Egypt in February 1944. On 1 September 1946, after the war, the Greek people decided by referendum to restore King George to the throne. The Hereditary Prince and Princess returned to their villa in Psychiko.
On 1 April 1947, George II died and Frederica's husband ascended the throne as Paul I, with Frederica as queen consort. Communist political instability in Northern Greece led to the Greek Civil War. The King and Queen toured Northern Greece under severe security to try to appeal for loyalty in the summer of 1947. Queen Frederica was constantly attacked for her German ancestry. Left-wing politicians in Greece repeatedly used the fact that the Kaiser was her grandfather, and that she had brothers who were members of the SS, as propaganda against her. She was also criticized variously as "very Prussian" and "was a Nazi". When she was in London representing her sick husband at the wedding of his first cousin Prince Philip to King George VI's elder daughter Princess Elizabeth in November 1947, Winston Churchill remarked on the Kaiser being her grandfather. Queen Frederica had replied acknowledging the fact, but reminding him that she was also descended from Queen Victoria, and that her father would be the British king if the country had operated under Salic Law (allowing only males to inherit the crown).
During the civil war, Queen Frederica set the Queen's Camps or Child Cities (translation of: Παιδο(υ)πόλεις / Paidopoleis or Paidupoleis) a network of 53 camps around Greece where she would gather mostly orphans and children of poor families. These camps provided much needed shelter, food, and education to these children who were aged 3 years old to adolescence.[The role of these Queen's Camps is disputed as a means of propaganda by the monarchy through the educational program. The Queen's Camps were a way to care for the children who were victims of the civil war. There were allegations, generally by opposition or communist sources, which held that children were illegally adopted by American families while they were in the Queen's Camps.
The Greek Civil War ended in August 1949. The Sovereigns took this opportunity to strengthen the monarchy, they paid official visits to Marshal Josip Broz Tito in Belgrade, Presidents Luigi Einaudi of Italy in Rome, Theodor Heuss of West Germany, and Bechara El Khoury of Lebanon, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari of India, King George VI of the United Kingdom, and the United States as guest of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
However, at home in Greece and abroad in the United Kingdom, Queen Frederica was targeted by the opposition, because as a girl she had belonged to the Bund Deutscher Mädel (League of German Girls), a branch of the Hitler Youth group for young women; her supporters argued that evading membership in the group would be difficult under the existing political climate in Nazi Germany at the time. Her 16 November 1953 appearance in Life as America's guest was taken on one of the many state visits she paid around the world. Also that year she appeared on the cover of Time.
On 14 May 1962 her eldest daughter Sofia married Prince Juan Carlos of Spain, (later King Juan Carlos I of Spain) in Athens.
Frederika has been described as "inherently undemocratic" She was notorious for her numerous arbitrary and unconstitutional interventions in Greek politics and clashes with democratically elected governments. She actively politicked against the election of Alexander Papagos. At home in Greece and abroad in the United Kingdom, she was targeted by the opposition. In 1963 while visiting London, rioting by Greek leftists demonstrating against the situation with the political prisoners of the Greek civil war, forced her to temporarily seek refuge in a stranger's house. Her interference in politics was harshly criticized and possibly was a significant factor in the strengthening of republican sentiments
On 6 March 1964, King Paul died of cancer. When her son, the new King, married Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark later that year on 18 September, Queen Frederica stepped back from the majority of her public duties in favor of her daughter-in-law. She remained a figure of controversy and was accused in the press of being the éminence grise behind the throne. She retired to the countryside where she lived an almost reclusive life. However, she continued to attend Royal events that were family-oriented, such as the baptisms of her grandchildren in both Spain and Greece.
King Constantine II's clashes with the democratically elected Prime Minister George Papandreou Sr. were blamed by critics for causing the destabilisation that led to a military coup on 21 April 1967 and the rise of the regime of the colonels. Faced with a difficult situation, King Constantine initially collaborated with the military dictatorship, swearing in their government under a royalist prime minister. Later that year he attempted a counter-coup in an attempt to restore democracy, whose failure forced him into exile. Following this, the junta appointed a Regent to carry out the tasks of the exiled Monarch. In 1971, she published an autobiography, A Measure of Understanding. On 1 June 1973 the junta abolished the Greek Monarchy without the consent of the Greek people and then attempted to legitimize its actions through a 1973 plebiscite that was widely suspected of being rigged. The new head-of-state became President of Greece George Papadopoulos. The dictatorship ended on 24 July 1974 and the pre-junta constitutional monarchy was never restored. A plebiscite was held on 8 December 1974 in which Constantine (who was able to campaign only from outside the country) freely admitted his past errors, promised to support democracy, and in particular, promised to keep his mother Frederica away from Greece and out of Greek politics. However, 69% of Greeks voted to make Greece a democratic republic.
Frederica died on 6 February 1981 in exile in Madrid during ophthalmic surgery. In its obituary of the former Queen, The New York Times reported that she died during "eyelid surgery," which led to frequent but unsubstantiated rumours that she died while undergoing cosmetic surgery Other sources state that her cause of death was a heart attack while undergoing the removal of cataracts. She was interred at Tatoi (the Royal family's palace and burial ground in Greece). Her son and his family were allowed to attend the service but had to leave immediately afterwards.

Gilbert Burnet, A History of the Reformation of the Church of England, 1829
Page 186: The judicious and diligent Sechendorf, in his History of Lutheranism, gives an account of a negotiation of Paget’s, two years before this. Cranmer, who was then the king’s ambassador at the emperor’s court, met with John Frederick, elector of Saxony, at Nuremberg, who had secretly left the diet of Ratisbon; and there he delivered letters from the king, both to the elector, to the duke of Lunenberg, and to the prince of Anhalt; which contained only a general offer of friendship. Cranmer came the next day to the elector, who had two of his ministers about him, and asked him many questions concerning their agreement with the state of religion, the Turkish war, and the church lands, which (as they heard) they had seized on. He said great things of the king, and of the aid he had offered the emperor against the Turk, in conjunction with the French king. He asked where Paget was, whose the king had sent to the elector. General answers were made to all his questions; and for Paget, he had been with the elector the former year. This passed on to the 15th of July 1532. Four days after this, he came privately to Spalatin, one of the elector’s secretaries, and assured him, that both the king and the French king would assist the elector and his allies in the matter of religion. In August after that, Paget came to the elector, who proposed many things to him concerning religion: but the princes had then come to an agreement with the emperor; so they could enter into no treaty at that time. Only John Frederick did, in a writing under his own hand, offer the scheme of that which was afterwards proposed in their name to the king.
Page 215: His ambassadors, at that time, gave these princes an advertisement of great importance to them, that was written over to the king by Wiat, then his ambassador in Spain; that the emperor had, in a passionate discourse with him, called both the elector and the landgrave his enemies, and rebels. The truth was, the elector did not entirely depend on all that Fox said to him. He thought the king had only a political design in all this negotiation; intending to bring them into a dependence on himself, without any sincere intentions with relation to religion. So he being resolved to adhere firmly to the Augsburg Confession, and seeing no appearance of the king’s agreeing to it, he was very cold in the prosecution of this negotiation. But the princes and states of that Confession met at this time at Smalcald, and settled the famous Smalcaldic league; of which the king’s ambassadors sent him an authentic copy, with a translation of it in English; which the reader will find in the Collection.
Page 216: By it, John Frederick, elector of Saxony, with his brother Ernest; Philip, Ernest, and Francis, dukes of Brunswick; Ulric, duke of Wirtemberg; Philip, landgrave of Hesse; the dukes of Pomeren; four brothers, princes of Anhalt; two brothers, counts of Mansfield; the deputies of twenty-one free towns;” which are not named in any order, for Hamburg and Lubeck are the last save one; but, to avoid disputes, they were named in the order in which they came, and produced their powers.
Page 224: It is true, the king used them with a particular civility, and spoke to them before all his court in a most obliging manner; and often wished that Melanchthon might be sent over to him. Cranmer and Cromwell used them with all possible kindness. Cranmer wrote often by them to the elector, exhorting him to continue firm and zealous for the truth and purity of the gospel; but under all the shows of the king’s favor, they understood that his heart was turned from them. He wrote, when he dismissed them, to the elector, in terms full of esteem for their ambassadors; “not doubting but good effects would follow on this beginning of conferences with them: but the matter being of the greatest importance, it ought to be very maturely considered. He again desired that Melanchthon might be sent over to him, that he might treat with him; promising that he would apply himself wholly to what became a Christian prince to pursue.’
Page 276: He [Cromwell] had many offices in his person; for besides that he was lord vicegerent in ecclesiastical matters, and lord privy-seal, he was lord chamberlain, and chancellor of the exchequer. Rymer has published the grants that the king made of those offices, in which it is said, that they were void upon his attainder; but, which was more, he was the chief minister, and had the king’s confidence, for ten years together, almost as entirely as cardinal Wolsey had it formerly. Mount had ben sent to Germany to press a closer league defensive against the pope, and any council that he might summon. When the princes did object the act of the six articles, and the severities upon it; he confessed to one of the elector’s ministers, that the king was not sincere in the point of religion: he had therefore proposed a double marriage of the king with Anne of Cleve, and of the duke of Cleve, with the lady Mary; for he said, the king was much governed by his wives. The elector of Saxony, who had married the other sister of Cleve, had conceived so bad an opinion of the king, that he expressed no heartiness, neither in the marriage, nor in any alliance with England: but he yielded to the importunities of others, who thought the prospect of the advantage from such an alliance was great.
Page 296: Upon her disgrace, there was a new negotiation proposed with the protestant princes of Germany. Mount was again sent over to excuse as well as he could, the divorce with Anne of Cleves. He said she was treated nobly and kindly in all respects by the king. He renewed the proposition for a league, with relation to their common interests: but they still stood upon this, that they could enter into no alliance with him, unless the agreed in religion, insisting particularly on private masses, the denying the chalice, and the celibate of the clergy. Upon which a conference was proposed in Gelderland or at Hamburg or Breme. The king in answer to this wrote, that he would carefully examine all that they laid before him. He expressed great regard to the elector, but complained that some of his learned men had written virulently against him, and misrepresented his proceedings. Cranmer likewise wrote to the elector, and set forth the great things the king had already done in abolishing the pope’s authority, the monastic state, and the idolatrous worship of images: he desired they would not be uneasy, though the king in some things differed still from them. He was very learned himself, and had learned men about him: he was quick of apprehension, had a sound judgment, and was firm in what he once resolved on: and he hoped the propositions they had sent over would be well considered.
Page 312: This did not move the elector: he looked on the king as an enemy to their doctrine. His whole design in what he had done was, to make himself the head of the church, to which he was not called of God. His government was tyrannical, and his life flagitious; so he looked for no good from him. The king of France moved him to undertake a mediation between him and the king; but the elector referred that to a general meeting of those who were engaged in the common Smalcaldic league. The princes in Germany having their chief dependence on the kings of France and England, saw how much they were weakened, and exposed to the emperor, by the war which was going on between those two kings; so they sent some empowered by them, to try if it was possible to prevent that war and to mediate a reconciliation between them. To those, when the delivered their message to the king, he complained of the injustice and willfulness of the French King: he thought their interposition could have no effect, and he used these words in an answer to their memorial; ‘We give them well to understand, that we do both repose an ampler and a fuller confidence in them than the French king either doth or will do.
Page 420: I shall conclude this book with one reflection, that may make us hope, that the reformation was under a particular and watchful care of Providence: when the light seemed almost extinguished in one place, it broke out in another; by which, as it was still kept shining somewhere, so there was a sanctuary opened, to which those who were forced to fly from one place, might in their flight find a covert in another from the storm. In the beginning of this reign, by the breaking of the Smalcaldic league, by the taking of the elector of Saxony, and the landgrave of Hesse, and by the Interim, the reformation seemed to be near extinguished in Germany. In this church it was at that time advanced; and we kindly then received those who were forced to fly hither for shelter. And now, in the year before the death of this good king, there was not only a revival, but a lasting settlement procured in Germany to the reformation there: so that those who fled from hence found a safe and kind harbor in all the places of the empire, to which they were driven by the storm and tempest that arose here. Of which I go next to gather up such gleanings as have come in my way.

Castle's Rock - 27 March 2018 Castle Marienburg Lower Saxony, Germ Credits: Timo Klages
Marienburg Castle is a Gothic revival castle in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) north-west of Hildesheim, and around 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Hannover, in the municipality of Pattensen, Hannover. It was also a summer residence of the House of Guelph whose flag (in the colours of yellow and white) flies on the main tower.
The castle was built between 1858 and 1867 as a birthday present by King George V of Hanover (reigned 1851–1866) to his wife, Marie of Saxe-Altenburg. Between 1714 and 1837 there had been virtually no royal court in Hannover as the House of Hannover had ruled the kingdoms of Hannover and Britain by personal union, and so the Castle was also built to serve as a suitable summer seat for the House of Hannover in Germany, besides the Royal Leine Palace and Herrenhausen Palace in Hannover.
Its architect was Conrad Wilhelm Hase, one of Hannover's most influential architects. Due to Hannover being annexed by Prussia in 1866, the castle was left uninhabited for 80 years after the royal family went into exile at Gmunden, Austria, where they lived in the Queen's Villa and, later, Cumberland Castle. Therefore Marienburg is well preserved, as few renovations were done until 80 years later when it was safe to come back. Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick and his wife Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia moved to Marienburg in 1945, when forced to leave Blankenburg Castle. In 1954 their son, Prince Ernest Augustus IV, opened the castle museum after having moved to nearby Calenberg Demesne.
The castle is currently owned by Prince Ernst August (VI) of Hannover, after his father signed it over to him, together with all other royal properties at Hannover and Gmunden. The castle houses the property management offices of the Royal House of Hannover and serves as its official seat. Parts of it are open to the public, such as the castle museum, the restaurant, the chapel, and can be booked as an event location for weddings, receptions, concerts, etc.
In 2014, the prince lent a number of paintings and objects to the Lower Saxony state exhibition When the Royals came from Hannover - The rulers of Hannover on England's throne, an exhibition taking place in five museums and castles, under the protectorate of HRH Charles, Prince of Wales. 30 of more than 1000 items had been contributed by HM The Queen, including the State Crown of George I, while Ernst August provided the king's famous Augsburg silver throne and other silver furniture of 1720, as well as the Hannoverian crown jewels. He is hosting a parallel exhibition, The Way to the Crown, at Marienburg Castle until the end of 2016, showing - among other items such as the silver furniture - the crown jewels of the Kingdom of Hannover. On 6 July 2017 the prince hosted his wedding ball in the castle.

Queen Victoria's Descendants
If you see any mistakes or can offer info on something like “Child 1” or an unknown birth or death year, please let me know.
Key
Bold names=Queen Victoria’s children
Strike through=deceased and I feel like I’ve gotten to the bottom of their line, and eventually, 20,000 years from now when I feel like I’m done with this list, I’ll delete it-after all, this is the list of Queen Victoria’s LIVING descendants.
* Descendants are already listed elsewhere on this list or the ones who would follow said person Ex:  Mark Nicholas van Eyck should be followed by  Princess Dorothea of Hesse but she and her descendants. Another example is Queen Elizabeth II & The Duke of Edinburgh’s descendants.
** I’ve seen reports that she died in 2002, but no obituary. Any ideas?
Bold and Italics together on one name denotes this person is presently the eldest and longest lived person of Queen Victoria (The Duke of Edinburgh)

British Consorts . . On 1 May 1707, under the Acts of Union, the kingdoms of England & Scotland united as a single sovereign state known as Great Britain. Queen Anne (b.6 February 1665 – d.1 August 1714) reigned as Queen of Great Britain & Ireland until her death in 1714.  She was the Queen of England, Scotland & Irelandbetween 8 March 1702 & 1 May 1707. . So the first 'British' consort was Prince George of Denmark . Prince George of Denmark and Norway, Duke of Cumberland (b.2 April 1653 – d.28 October 1708), was the husband of Queen Anne. . George was born in Copenhagen Castle, & was the younger son of Frederick III, King of Denmark & Norway, & Sophie Amalie of Brunswick-Lüneburg. His mother was the sister of Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, later Elector of Hanover. . ◼ His marriage to Anne was arranged in the early 1680s with a view to developing an Anglo-Danish alliance to contain Dutch maritime power. As a result, George was unpopular with his Dutch brother-in-law, William III of Orange, who was married to Anne's elder sister, Mary. William & Mary became joint monarchs of Britain, with Anne as their heir presumptive, in 1689 after the "Glorious Revolution" deposed James II and VII, the father of both Anne & Mary. . William excluded George from active military service, & neither George nor Anne wielded any great influence until after the deaths of Mary & then William, at which point Anne became queen. . 👑 During his wife's reign, George occasionally used his influence in support of his wife, even when privately disagreeing with her views. He had an easy-going manner & little interest in politics; his appointment as Lord High Admiral in 1702 was largely honorary. . Anne's seventeen pregnancies by George resulted in twelve miscarriages or stillbirths, four infant deaths, & a chronically sick son, William, who died at the age of eleven. Despite the history of their children, George & Anne's marriage was a strong one. George died aged 55 from a recurring & chronic lung disease, much to the devastation of his wife, & he was buried in Westminster Abbey. . . .
