you ever think about how mainstream gaming is the way it is bc it evolved from arcade games?
#like the focus on Skill(tm) that values reflexes/reaction time/competition/speed#obvs there's other influences too tho#like rpgs#and then there's a sorta parallel thing going on with early computer games (remember when Computer Games and Video Games were different?)#w people like cyan wanting to make 'video games for adults' lol like myst#and there's always been artsy games and stuff but mainstream-wise i just think sometimes about how like#strange (neutral) it is that you have this medium that's debatably art but also like. not always considered by players or devs to be art?#in a way that books and movies aren't /exactly/ altho there's comparisons to like blockbuster movies for sure#esp bc i think about how the people making a lot of mainstream games were guys who grew up in the 80s/90s and loved 80s action movies#and got to make worlds where you play as those action dudes#like obviously snake who's not even trying to not be snake plissken ghlskdjf#resident evil also obvs#or isaac being inspired by whatshisname in die hard#ther's an implicit power fantasy#but also it opens up interesting artistic/storytelling paths that other mediums can't explore as easily?#isaac is an interesting example of it imo bc of the tension between his ultra-masculine voice/hyper-competence/cool suit#and 1. the survival horror setting but also 2. the fact that he's actually incredibly brittle & the impression#of him we get is based on assumptions when really his independence/determination is a flaw & his 'togetherness' was a facade the whole time#ofc the way it gets expressed in ds2/3 feels like it's still limited by sexist ideas about what emotions men are allowed to express#and how imo#but idk i think it's interesting to play with that#and in an interactive setting you get to do that in a way that other media can't#but back to my original point lol#those are (imo) really interesting things that do get explored sometimes#but like gaming culture at large sometimes feels like it#explicitly rejects reading anything deeper into a game than 'hero shoot bad guy'?#and i feel like in part that comes from what players value and gaming culture puts Skill really high and can sometiems treat story/characte#like set dressing#(obvs there are exceptions)#(and it makes sense i mean. it's a Game it's supposed to be Fun To Play

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
fill out & repost ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm.
Tumblr media
My muse is:   canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless /
Is your character popular in the fandom?  YES / NO.
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK.
Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK.
Are they underrated?  YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main character?  YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG.
Are they widely known in their world?  YES / NO.
How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL.
How strictly do you follow canon?  — Since she is an OC with her own lore I would say pretty much . Of course there are some heres and theres and she changed a lot from the first time I dragged her out of the void of my head . I originally wanted to make more of a gag character but ended up taking too much of the screen if I’m honest . but of course , since there is many other lores and crossovers are a must , some things change once or twice .
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  Nora is a mentor character , supportive and most likely to be the ace under the sleeve like a Kisuke Urahara from Bleach or Sinbad from Magi --- you know there’s something fishy but there is a charm that even thought they are slidding in the background for the main character , their relevance is vast . As a mentor characters , she would often help with insight , understanding of complex things , giving moral lessons and giving others a sense of security whilst also making sure to throw hints about a doubious nature . Keeping a character around her to keep their feet on ground while never shooting down their hopes and dreams .
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  —  She is not approachable unless you have enough guts to -- perhaps even looks intimidating or hard to come up with something plausible to make the meeting more natural . And honestly , she looks like a mainstream angst character at first glance --- even I myself believe this and start having second thoughts ... :laughs:
What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  An old project I had archived in my closet of memories (?). She was the main , nameless character of a journal about , well , her and the emotions she had to deal with in the everyday . I will be seriously honest ... it was a self insert :blushes: after all it was like a personal journal I was doing on my darkest days . But after that , she became Sable -- the first character on her own -- who also served as a mentor ( but the story was much more dark , seriously ) and then just came to this . I even used the pre-prototype name lol . The idea was to put the whole story into a RPG pixel game or a short comic series where she ( Sable ) and the protagonist would wander around a city called “Nobody’s Home” , a place were people with “thats” ( what now are called Stalkers ) got dragged into and either confront their emotions and solve / comes in terms with them or get eaten by them ( a metaphor for suicide or dead by mental illness ) . The story was more or less about Sable teaching Nona ( the genderless protagonist ) about different mental states , issues and others and helping people solve them so they can return to the real world . Needless to say , the story ends with Nona returning after coming in terms with their condition ( funnily enough , the protagonist had a bunny shaped emotion ) while on the other hand Sable stayed behind along with her closest friend , who she question why he keeps being around if he could return himself , to what he replies he doesn’t want to leave her alone esp since she can no longer return --- hinting Sable committed suicide but by sheer will power remained there to help others to deal with what she couldn’t . Voez , the friend I mention , is even Victor from her current lore . Haha , I like recycling I guess . When I came with Nora , it was mostly to kill time and altered her base story a bit since the original plot was way to close up to make an interaction .
What keeps your inspiration going?  —  How well received she became , I know it sounds a bit ... uh , bad . But I honestly never expected people to like her . heck I even have my doubts about myself liking her haha . plus I know it’s not easy to deal with a character with a somewhat meta power ... I still struggle from time to time but I’m managing and having the support I have atm is something that keeps me going . I love plot a shit lot . I love to come up with ideas with others . To expand what I already have . besides , there is so much I haven’t write down yet that is about her lore but I’m a bit insecure yet . I guess I’m too used to forums where everyon follows a general plot haha ... old habits die hard .
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO / EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO / 50-50
Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO, I HATE DRABBLES.
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day?  YES/ NO.
Are you confident in your portrayal?   YES / NO / .... UHHHH
Are you confident in your writing?  YES / HAHA NO.
Are you a sensitive person?  YES VERY MUCH A LOT / NO.
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?  —  I haven’t got any so far --- which honestly surprises me because well ... there is so much that can bother people . as I said , I received a lot of support and praise , which also surprises me haha ... I won’t deny I would love to hear what people think , even if I later end up riding the anxiety train to the moon but it’s also a way to grow up , I believe . god ... I sound like nora Uu
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?  —  I absolute love this and need this . It comes easier for me to make a 20 word pages of information about stuff if I’m asking specifically about it . even add explanatory drawings with it lolol since I’m kinda bad with words . besides , showing me interest on a character would just fire the heck out of me to keep going . I mean , everyone likes to get some curiosity and a chance to develop more their characters , canon or not .
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  I would for sure . I’m not smart and I actually do a shit ton of research --- but even so I can miss a lot of shit people would say <nah that’s not how it works> and that would be helpful as heckie . but of course , needing the why also would tell me if the person disagreeing is doing it with a solid ground or just because they are being a piece of crap . I’m really tired of tumblr mentality and shitty people who aren’t mature enough to act decently .
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  —  you cannot like everyone or have everyone like you either . I don’t really care much ... esp since nora is an original character . if it constructive critisism , okay -- I will take it , but gimme a solid reason other than “ your character is / is not ... “ and then give a crappy critique because she doesn’t fit your agenda or standards .
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  —  you are fucking free to unfollow me and ignore me for the rest of your life . I really don’t get the point of hating on the internet just because and keep promoting your hate just to be a pain in the ass .
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  I fucking wrote in my rules that people are even fricking free to fix my grammar and english because holy heck , even to this day I still do some ugly shit . I’m dumb , help ...
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  ehhhhhhhhhhhhh, kinda . I take everything with water . whenever it’s of ideology , people as it is , characters ... I am quite tolerant and try to keep the “okay this person thinks this way , fine .” but as long as nobody crosses the line where they try to spoil it for me or others , I get super bitter . I love OOC , getting to know the one behind the character makes me feel more secure about coming to them and just rambling about plots and hcs and whatever idea got in my mind . but if I see someone and , forgive me god for misjudging , see them as a person that will put me on my nerves -- I won’t even try . as for the friends I have and those who don’t know me as much ... I am obnoxiously sporadic and have a lot of ups and downs very often . one day I could be talking 100 words per second others I will just take a fucking week to respond . honestly , I had mined my social skills for two years plus several other irl stuff previous to that , so I’m always a bit too anxious around people , esp people I REALLY like . I’m insecure as heck , if someone is vague ( just because , idk , it was a lazy day for them ) I think at least 10 different reason why probably that person hates me now . I’m a bit dumb 26 year old baby .......... but I’m very aware that is completely on me . I’m a mess.......  so , what was the question again ??? ... I , yeah ... it’s a kinda . but I try , at least haha.
That’s about it, congrats for filling out!

@superohclair oh god okay please know these are all just incoherent ramblings so like, idk, please feel free to add on or ignore me if im just wildly off base but this is a bad summary of what ive been thinking about and also my first titans/batman meta?? (also, hi!)
okay so for the disclaimer round: I am not an actual cultural studies major, nor do I have an extensive background in looking at the police/military industrial complex in media. also my comics knowledge is pretty shaky and im a big noob(I recently got into titans, and before that was pretty ignorant of the dceu besides batman) so I’ll kind of focus in on the show and stuff im more familiar with and apologize in advance?. basically im just a semi-educated idiot with Opinions, anyone with more knowledge/expertise please jump in! this is literally just the bullshit I spat out incoherently off the top of my head. did i mention im a comics noob? because im a comics noob.
so on a general level, I think we can all agree that batman as a cultural force is somewhat on the conservative side, if not simply due to its age and commercial positioning in American culture. there are a lot of challenges and nuances to that and it’s definitely expanding and changing as DC tries to position itself in the way that will...make the most money, but all you have to do is take a gander through the different iterations of the stories in the comics and it’ll smack you in the fucking face. like compare the first iteration of Jason keeping kids out of drugs to the titans version and you’ve got to at least chuckle. at the end of the day, this is a story about a (white male) billionaire who fights crime.
to be fair, I’d argue the romanticization of the police isn’t as aggressive as it could be—they are most often presented as corrupt and incompetent. However, considering the main cop characters depicted like Jim Gordon, the guys in Gotham (it’s been a while since I saw it, sorry) are often the romanticized “good few” (and often or almost always white cis/het men), that’s on pretty shaky ground. I don’t have the background in the comics strong enough to make specific arguments, so I’ll cede the point to someone who does and disagrees, but having recently watched a show that deals excellently with police incompetence, racism, and brutality (7 Seconds on Netflix), I feel at the very least something is deeply missing. like, analysis of race wrt police brutality in any aspect at all whatsoever.
I think it can be compellingly read that batman does heavily play into the military/police industrial complex due to its takes on violence—just play the Arkham games for more than an hour and you’ll know what I mean. to be a little less vague, even though batman as a franchise valorizes “psychiatric treatment” and “nonviolence,” the entire game seems pretty aware it characterizes treatment as a madhouse and nonviolence as breaking someone’s back or neck magically without killing them because you’re a “good guy.” while it is definitely subversive that the franchise even considers these elements at all, they don’t always do a fantastic job living up to them.
and then when you consider the fetishization of tools of violence both in canon and in the fandom, it gets worse. same with prisons—if anything it dehumanizes people in prisons even more than like, cop shows in general, which is pretty impressive(ly bad). like there’s just no nuance afforded and arkham is generally glamorized. the fact that one of the inmates is a crocodile assassin, I will admit, does not help. im not really sure how to mitigate that when, again, one of the inmates is a crocodile assassin, but I think my point still stands. fuck you, killer croc. (im just kidding unfuck him or whatever)
not to take this on a Jason Todd tangent but I was thinking about it this afternoon and again when thinking about that cop scene again and in many ways he does serve as a challenge to both batman’s ideology as well as the ideology of the franchise in general. his depiction is always a bit of a sticking point and it’s always fascinating to me to see how any given adaptation handles it. like Jason’s “”street”” origin has become inseparable from his characterization as an angry, brash, violent kid, and that in itself reflects a whole host of cultural stereotypes that I might argue occasionally/often dip into racialized tropes (like just imagine if he wasn’t white, ok). red hood (a play on robin hood and the outlaws, as I just realized...today) is in my exposure/experience mostly depicted as a villain, but he challenges batman’s no-kill philosophy both on an ethical and practical level. every time the joker escapes he kills a whole score more of innocent people, let alone the other rogues—is it truly ethical to let him live or avoid killing him for the cost of one life and let others die?
moreover, batman’s ““blind”” faith in the justice system (prisons, publicly-funded asylum prisons, courts) is conveniently elided—the story usually ends when he drops bad guy of the day off at arkham or ties up the bad guys and lets the police come etc etc. part of this is obviously bc car chases are more cinematic than dry court procedurals, but there is an alternate universe where bruce wayne never becomes batman and instead advocates for the arkham warden to be replaced with someone competent and the system overhauled, or in programs encouraging a more diverse and educated police force, or even into social welfare programs. (I am vaguely aware this is sometimes/often part of canon, but I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s the main focus. and again, I get it’s not nearly as cinematic).
overall, I think the most frustrating thing about the batman franchise or at least what I’ve seen or read of it is that while it does attempt to deal with corruption and injustice at all levels of the criminal justice system/government, it does so either by treating it as “just how life is” or having Dick or Jim Gordon or whoever the fuckjust wipe it out by “eliminating the dirty cops,” completely ignoring the non-fantasy ways these problems are dealt with in real life. it just isn’t realistic. instead of putting restrictions on police violence or educating cops on how to use their weapons or putting work into eradicating the culture of racism and prejudice or god basically anything it’s just all cinematized into the “good few” triumphing over the bad...somehow. its always unsatisfying and ultimately feels like lip service to me, personally.
this also dovetails with the very frustrating way mental health/”insanity” or “madness” is dealt with in canon, very typical of mainstream fiction. like for example:“madness is like gravity, all it takes is a little push.” yikes, if by ‘push’ you mean significant life stressors, genetic load, and environemntal influences,  then sure. challenge any dudebro joker fanboy to explain exactly what combination of DSM disorders the joker has to explain his “””insanity””” and see what happens. (these are, in fact, my plans for this Friday evening. im a hit at parties).
anyway I do really want to wax poetic about that cop scene in 1x06 so im gonna do just that! honestly when I first saw that I immediately sat up like I’d sat on a fucking tack, my cultural studies senses were tingling. the whole “fuck batman” ethos of the show had already been interesting to me, esp in s1, when bruce was basically standing in for the baby boomers and dick being our millennial/GenX hero. I do think dick was explicitly intended to appeal to a millennial audience and embody the millennial ethos. By that logic, the tension between dick and Jason immediately struck me as allegorical (Jason constantly commenting on dick being old, outdated, using slang dick doesn’t understand and generally being full of youthful obnoxious fistbumping energy).
Even if subconsciously on the part of the writers, jason’s over-aggressive energy can be read as a commentary on genZ—seen by mainstream millennial/GenX audiences as taking things too far. Like, the cops in 1x06 could have been Nick Zucco’s hired men or idk pretty much anyone, yet they explicitly chose cops and even had Jason explain why he deliberately went after them for being cops so dick (cop) could judge him for it. his rationale? he was beaten up by cops on the street, so he’s returning the favor. he doesn’t have the focused “righteous” rage of batman or dick/nightwing towards valid targets, he just has rage at the world and specifically the system—framed here as unacceptable or fanatical. as if like, dressing up like a bat and punching people at night is, um, totally normal and uncontroversial.
on a slightly wider scope, the show seems to internally struggle with its own progressive ethos—on the one hand, they hire the wildly talented chellah man, but on the other hand they will likely kill him off soon. or they cast anna diop, drawing wrath from the loudly racist underbelly of fandom, but sideline her. perhaps it’s a genuine struggle, perhaps they simply don’t want to alienate the bigots in the fanbase, but the issue of cops stuck out to me when I was watching as an social issue where they explicitly came down on one side over the other. jason’s characterization is, I admit and appreciate, still nuanced, but I’d argue that’s literally just bc he’s a white guy and a fan favorite. cast an actor of color as Jason and see how fast fandom and the writer’s room turns on him.
anyway i don’t really have the place to speak about what an explicitly nonwhite!cop!dick grayson would look like, but I do think it would be a fascinating and exciting place to start in exploring and correcting the kind of vague and nebulous complaints i raise above. (edit: i should have made more clear, i mean in the show, which hasn’t dealt with dick’s heritage afaik). also, there’s something to be said about the cop vs detective thing but I don’t really have the brain juice or expertise to say it? anyway if you got this far i hope it was at least interesting and again pls jump in id love to hear other people’s takes!!
tldr i took two (2) cultural studies classes and have Opinions

I have to ask for BenCutio 💙💜
Awww nice! Gonna tag my girl @capuleti who asked the same.
who hogs the duvet: Benvolio. He really, really doesn't mean to and will deny it forever but he gets cold easily and tbf as soon as he tugs at it a little Mercutio immediately gives it over and wraps himself all around him too bc he's even more of a softie when the light are out who texts/rings to check how their day is going: Benvolio, to the point of being annoying tbh but Mercutio grows to appreciate itwho’s the most creative when it comes to gifts: Mercutio. What's the point of having to be from a stifling and invasive royal family if you can't use it for ridiculous extravagant gifts to the like, two people who you think deserve it. It's also often things that no one would expect Benvolio wanting except for some passing mention he made, bc Mercutio pays a lot more attention when he talks than anyone and he wants to make it clear 😂who gets up first in the morning: Benvolio, if Mercutio goes to bed at all that is. Of course, they often go to bed at the same hour, so it's sometimes a wise choice and sometimes it just means Benvolio is a sleep deprived mess the whole day. who suggests new things in bed: Mercutio, constantly. Benvolio is a little bit overwhelmed at first but then he catches on how its just Mercutio's way to show him love and try to please him who cries at movies: I wanted to say "Romeo" but tbh Benvolio gets slightly sniffly and very ashamed of it with some things that touch his buttons. Mercutio sometimes gets the impulse with things like tense weepy family reconciliations and so on but he just makes an aggressive joke after another until it's over who gives unprompted massages: Mercutio, when he decides Benvolio needs to stfu and relax who fusses over the other when they’re sick: Benvolio most often, but Mercurio is generally sweeter because he's capable of not being naggingwho gets jealous easiest: Benvolio, unfortunately it's more because he's both insecure and raised to be territorial and possessive than because of Mercutio's natural flirting with everyone, but Mercutio still feels super guilty and distressed about it. who has the most embarrassing taste in music: I have put too much thought into this but: Benvolio likes mostly cheery pop/disco songs evenly sprinkled with soulful folk ballads and whatever Intense Italian Song About Patriotism And Social Issues he can find (plus the surprisingly many intersections of the too) mostly the good ones from the 70s but also the cheesiest modern ones that frequently make him cry. Mercutio listens to A LOT of rap, which he absolutely doesn't like but his life is basically a rap battle and he has to be Prepared, mainstream punk, the angsty-indie-sad-party-girl subgenre esp Halsey and Lorde, he ADORES David Bowie and probably copied his style a lot when he was younger, also likes folk ballads but more the very wild ones generally involving the devil or absurd schemes, were Benvolio is more of a "melancholy Irish war widow" guywho collects something unusual: Mercutio, including but limited to: 1) those horrifying fairy miniatures you find at the florist shop artistically modified by him 2) beer taps from the whole world3) merch of long forgotten bands he may or may not have never listened to4) bunch of red stuff clearly stolen from the Capulets. When Benvolio worries about it he just tells him he, too, walks around showing off clearly stolen Capulet property and does he complain about it? (no ask is complete without bitter exes Tycutio lmaowho takes the longest to get ready: Benvolio, surprisingly, bc Mercutio has organized his personal style so thar he can fish whatever he feels like from the closer and throw it on and it's still Iconic who is the most tidy and organised: Benvoliowho gets most excited about the holidays: Kind of depends on which holidays but they kind of both equally do? Mostly bc they immediately go Time For Party Planning! to the chagrin of other friends who maybe felt like doing something with their family for once who is the big spoon/little spoon: They kind of switch based on who needs more reassurance that night who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports: Mercutio during the game, but Benvolio is more of a sore loserwho starts the most arguments: They kind of start themselves? Benvolio is naturally passive aggressive and Mercutio is kind of self conscious about feeling like a huge dick most of the time so he doesn't want to stir shit - this is not Tybalt, he has to try to be sweet and a decent human being etcwho suggests that they buy a pet: Benvolio already has a dog so Mercutio is like the devil on his shoulder whispering More Puppieswhat couple traditions they havewhat tv shows they watch together: Sitcoms, teen shows like Glee/Skam/Skins/Riverdale they alternatively make fun of and relate way too much too, Shameless which they DEFINITELY relate way too much to, MCU movies, probably they rewatched Bohemian Rhapsody seventeen times what other couple they hang out with: Whoever is together in their friend group, which is eeeeever fleeting 😂 also Romeo and the sense of existential dread and lovelessness that accompanies him how they spend time together as a couple: They don't spend that much time alone since they share one group of friends. They generally do some Sex Stuff then cuddle and talk and sometimes go stargazing. They also probably attempted making a band at some point but it didn't work lmao who made the first move: Mercutio. Benvolio is not exactly shy but he still felt kind of weird and intimidated who brings flowers home: Mercutio, he knows it's gonna make Benvolio flustered and thats what he lives for. Benvolio generally makes him flower crowns out of them though. who is the best cook: Benvolio is just functional. Mercutio is much better but also inclined to too reckless experimenting or getting distracted and burning shit

Hey, I’m the anon that asked panicsinning about the daddy thing. I’m seeing it in a significant portion of the fics I try to read at the minute (not just Brendon fics, but I seem to find more of them with him!) and I’m not into it at all. It kinda sucks. There are so many other ways to write a dominant Brendon, if that’s what people want, but as soon as I see the daddy thing I gotta close the tab like no thank u. And especially if he’s said it makes him uncomfortable
i think we’re dealing with the fall out of a generation of 90s and 2000s people raised on internet porn. i’ve noticed–this is evident on wattpad n tumblr especially–that a lot of smut is written by junior high n high school girls too, whose go to source is other smut fics by youn’uns n internet porn. like you could see that at work too on aooo n livejournal, but that stuff tended to be more grounded in real life experience/realistic n the writers skewed older–late teens n 20s on those–recorded porn was also less…fucked up in the 90s-early 00s n things that are mainstream now used to be fringe n avoidable. another thing i’ve noticed in fics: lack of solidarity with other women and girls–a lot of monstering of other females, who are usually portrayed as “whores” (this has a long history though–i remember the good girl/bad girl dichotomy in a lot of romance novels, vc andrews books, etc–tv shows n movies based around conflict between girls, the idea that women and girls are crueler to girls than boys are when the reverse is true, women getting angry at the “other woman” and not their dickhead men)
(trigger warning for me ranting about the content of pornography, the sexual status quo, etc)
i watched straight porn from about 8-12 from 95-99 and i don’t remember ever seeing pia for example. porn is now absolutely obsessed with men anally penetrating women with their dicks (if you are on a porn site, you will quickly see it guaranfuckingteed), particularly the damage that can result from it (eg “gaping,” women saying they can’t handle it *on camera* and the scene still continuing, “she’ll need an ambulance when we’re done with her”). there wasn’t much “deep throat”/”throat fucking” fellatio (i hate those terms–we are looking at throat rape) either, but now porn is obsessed with that too. it also used to be more about showing at least the performance of female pleasure and orgasm (usually faked of course) but now that is largely irrelevant and clear indications of pain are not only kept in, but intentionally there. piv that’s not a cervix bashing is hard to find, scenes without piv even harder (and they’re usually brief clips), and “sex” for men generally and pornographers in particular starts at piv–like if there isn’t at least “regular fucking” it doesn’t even register as sexual and worth watching to most.
“vanilla porn” has a lot of bdsm themes in it as discussed above as well as slapping, spitting, ejaculating on women’s faces, misogynist namecalling, “ass to mouth” and the hetero bdsm porn online is absolutely–we’re talking witch hunt and slavery levels of torture. in both, women are punished for the crime of being born female. based in aggrieved male entitlement–like men are punishing women for having any boundaries, desires of their own, telling them no outright or no to certain sex acts. any sexuality in women reduced to “fuck hole” (or a dewey eyed bisexual–tropes around female-female sexuality in porn are more varied i will admit but ultimately about viewer, typically male, titillation. femdom is also usually paid for by the man, and all about what he wants, and most of the domination and pain is both mild in comparison to what women are put through and based in feminizing him–comparing him to a woman, calling him gay, saying he has a small “ineffective” dick, calling his anus a pussy, etc. women are also often in absolutely ridiculous uncomfortable outfits n shoes.). a lot of humiliation, dom/sub–it’s really difficult for me to watch but it’s like men are in a contest with each other, expressing sexuality together, with women as the targets–seeing who can humiliate and hurt women the most–make her wish she’d never been born. man=sadist, and female=hole. (and a lot of the women making porn play that same game too.)
under this, girls are developing their sexuality, with the above porn online, and either just a general lack of information from school and parents, or a specifically religious tinge to discussions of sexuality as being sinful, shameful in women (and gay/bi men). sex=piv=sex, and pia is 5th base and you shouldn’t have hang ups about fucking bc it’s what girls and women are made for and like. things that women can do together don’t get transferred to sex with men at all, or at best MAY make it in as foreplay–sex is pole in hole, silly ho–not rubbing off on him (esp if you want to rub on a part or in a position that makes him feel like a girl), or getting oral, or masturbating in front of him, or him using his hand on you, or using toys together… women and girls are the gatekeepers for male sexuality and responsible for men’s actions and either natural saints or whores who need to either save men from the bad women (who deserve what men do to them, regardless of how cruel or sadistic or destructive–she wanted it if it happened at all–made him do it) or embrace their roles as cumsluts (liberated sexuality is doing what the pornographers tell you to, you go girl and suck that cock and have piv while you have few if any orgasms, don’t even feel that turned on and comfortable, and just put on a good show! lol don’t you know that focusing on yr clit n vulva is for masturbation and girl-girl action, if you focus on that silly part at all. or just rub your clit while he’s using whichever of your holes he wants–the sex positive solution. or spend years thinking you’re broken, to find out not orgasming during piv is normal, and just continue having it n taking hormonal birth control n praying for your period to arrive on time.)
there is a lot telling women and girls to find dangerous, possessive, sadistic, controlling, etc men sexy, and obviously this works–increasingly women are consuming porn, the success of the twilight novels, 50 shades of abusive gaslighting n pitying the poor poor dude who is just a hurt puppy (who can fucking kill you), advising already traumatized women to “work through their trauma” with a male sadist/top, telling women and girls that “daddy kink” is hot as fuck (ignore the fact that father-daughter incest is probably statistically the most traumatic form of child sexual abuse there is n hide it behind “it’s just a bit of kinky fun n letting him feel like a real man n letting you surrender to yourself n letting him take care of you” gaslighting), the whole mess of “sex positive feminism” (this is not what anne koedt, shere hite, audre lorde, etc were talking about folks) and repainting feminism (the fight for women’s liberation from patriarchy and the end of male violence) as about consumerist choices (particularly around conforming to beauty standards, partaking in prostitution industries) and saying women are not a class and women aren’t oppressed because of male desire to control our sexuality and reproduction but because we have inner feminine souls/brains and if you’re not a walking stereotype n don’t feel like one you’re not really female n sex is a free for all n not political at all (except for slutshaming bc women often are what men call us n shouldn’t be shamed for it–we should embrace it as empowerment) n trust women unless they say something you don’t agree with then they are monsters who kill with their words unlike men (even the ones who do kill) who aren’t why we feel unsafe (those bad women over there made them do it n besides, women are worse than men)…
holy fuck this is quite the rant! i need to get back to writing the smutty times with beebs ;)
tl;dr this environment is ripe for girls finding “daddy kink” sexy because it encapsulates more explicitly what flows through our everyday sexual lives, media, etc. already. like the question shouldn’t be “why are some into daddy kink” but “why is there an intense focus on dom/sub, top/bottom, adult/child, male/female, penetrator/penetrated… dichotomies and roles in the first place?” or “how could so many *not* be drawn to it?” i remember reading explicit romance novels and this dom/sub, piv-oriented, etc relation was as common as air in them (they were generally way worse than graphic western novels n even worse than a lot of recorded porn back then), even the ones where the women were into equality outside of the bedroom. you can also see this in gay porn, where there is also this focus on pia and top/bottom roles, changing the way gay men have sex outside of porn too–like older gay/bi men see pia and roles attached to it as far less pivotal in their understanding and experience of sex than young gay/bi men do. (jesus christ gal get back on topic…)
daddy/little (or kitten or princess or slut or…) confirms the way things should be: male control, authority, female deference, submission, etc. independence in women is punished. female desire for sexual pleasure and affection is denigrated. the amount of fics where women are punished or shamed for masturbating in front of him or on her own or rubbing herself on him by the daddy/dom! i can’t even… told not to, called bad for doing it…had their hand slapped away…physically punished for doing it. it’s seen as a distraction from the man’s Very Important Stuff at best, whether that stuff is nonsexual or what he wants to do to her sexually. sexuality is presented as a punishment for women (not so far from god’s condemnation of eve are we?), but something we desire simultaneously. like we should be punished for wanting, as if our wanting men or a man means we should be hurt by him/them. spanking is a humiliation and pain ritual a la abusive fathers with belts/forceful hands/tree branches/whips through the patriarchal ages, creating welts and tears and humiliation. females are *done to* and males *do*. even sucking dick becomes something men do to women by pushing her head down, pushing into her throat, etc as tears well up. outside of fic, women take painkillers and use numbing gels to endure it. the sexiest women are like little girls, and the sexiest men are controlling fathers. men *have to* hurt us, to let us know what we did wrong, so we can try to behave better next time. women need someone telling them what to do, when to do it, how to do it. telling us and showing us what we are for. men need to feel like real men, and women like real women–nothing is worse than an uppity woman making a man feel like a he’s not an avatar of masculinity, or however he sees himself–quit trying to emasculate men, unless they are into forced feminization of course n are paying for you to do what they want you to, are topping from the bottom. never challenge male self-image, especially in sex. know your place, and tell yourself you are precious, and cared for, and pampered by a benevolent master. daddy kink is the sexiest sex to ever sex, n vanilla is just so boring… why settle for lights out missionary piv when you can be choked n slapped n entered anally? those are your two choices. you’re not a prude are you? quit being so sex negative. quit policing these wild sexy desires in people. quit erasing and killing us with anything you might think or say to contradict this.
we live in a world where men get away with murdering women based on “rough sex gone wrong” defenses, even to the point where people think it reasonable that a native woman in prostitution bled to death after “consensual” piv with a john (when he likely sliced open the inside of her vagina with a knife based on the extent of her injury, let alone the belief that lethal injury can be consented to period let alone within prostitution), athletes are acquitted of rape when they gang rape a woman into several hours of bleeding from a vaginal injury (and she named it rape from the get go, the men were bragging and trying to get her to keep quiet), wives are murdered by boyfriends in “50 shades games gone wrong” that *she* wanted (considering she is the dead one not him...), people think *unconscious* women and girls are “consenting” whether strangled into unconsciousness or drugged or sleeping..., and another woman was literally choked to death during throat rape by the man she loved (the focus in that courtroom and the media? His allegedly big dick--how could he have helped himself, not killed her, with such a big cock? Injuring women with big dicks is so entertaining n humourous!). A male sadist is more likely to kill you than give you an amazing time in bed. More likely to claim it’s all fun n games when numerous women accuse him of sexual, physical and psychological abuse than actually help those or any other women have a good time in bed.

1. describe your idea of a perfect date
well i mean ‘we exist in the same space and enjoy each others company‘ is already 12/10, but go out to lunch at a favorite place, maybe take a walk afterwards holding hands. or maybe something just quiet and at-home, like playing a video game together and following it up with ordering pizza and watching netflix
im a very low-effort date, tbh
3. do you want kids?
nO. i am terrible with kids. animals i can deal with, i can understand them for the most part, kids have way too much variation
5. describe the cutest date you’ve ever been on
the first one that comes to mind is when we just went to the mall and walked around holding hands and hung out in one of the seating areas just texting each other
i rly like holding hands ok
7. are you a morning time gay or night time gay?
i am not a person before 1 pm at the earliest
9. opinion on brown eyes?
theyre cool i guess. no strong feelings one way or another
11. would you ever date someone who owned rodents or reptiles?
theyre not dogs so i am 100% down (which probs sounds weird considering squid owns a dog and lives with three others currently but i dont have a great history with dogs y’feel me?) rodents are super adorable and reptiles seem p chill spiders n stuff, thats where i draw the line tho. if its got more than 4 legs i want it nowhere near me
13. what is a misconception you had about lgb people before you realized you were one?
well i was raised conservative christian so i think that implies a lot of things
15. (if attracted to more than one gender) do you have different “types” for different genders?
idek my guy, its hard to tell when youve been attracted one person whos just happened to id with different genders at different times
17. night club gay or cafe gay?
cafes are calmer and i can buy eclairs, they win
19. video game gay, book gay, or movie gay?
video games all the way
21. favourite gay youtuber
i dont actually knowingly follow any. im just on youtube for asmr videos these days
23. have you ever been in love?
yEs, i am in love right this moment~ i think its getting close to 2 years since i first developed a crush, and our anniversary is just under 4 months away :3
25. how do you determine if you want to be them or be with someone
well first of all i dont feel attraction until ive been close friends with someone for a long time, so theres that second, wanting to be/be like someone is usually aesthetically based for me, while attraction is geared more towards ‘this person has a great personality and i love being around them’, their looks are never a factor in that sense
27. what is a piece of advice you have for young / baby gays
the first thing coming to mind is ‘dont feel like u have to hold to like, a life schedule of dating by X age, serious by Y, engaged/married by Z’. like straight people tend to date in high school and be engaged/married in their early 20s, and it can feel weird if u dont follow that schedule no matter what your reason(s), but like. its not a bad thing to wait until youre comfy/safe/have the opportunity to get into relationship things at your own pace. dont force yourself to live the way other people are, youre just gonna make yourself miserable
29. what is the most uncomfortable / strange coming out experience you have
every time my bestie tells someone im ace/agender. like, just bc she trusts them with her own orientation doesnt mean i necessarily trust them with mine, esp bc shes a pan cis woman and ive got so many labels and fine-print modifiers i can really only be described as ‘queer’ without going into a two-hour lecture with powerpoint presentation on the realities of gender, attraction, and expression. like ok they accept ‘mainstream lgbt’ identities, but whats their opinion on ace-specs and aro-specs? nonbinary people? nb people who dont align with male-ish or female-ish genders? am i now going to be subjected to uncomfortable questions on my gender/transition thoughts? its shitty and sometimes i almost regret coming out to her tbh

Imo if you really want football to be popular in America that ship sailed when the OG American Soccer League (ASL) folded (which is an amazing story btw), but even if it's possible yeah it DEF needs to be a very long, very involved process and isn't gonna happen by having Messi play in NYC & LA a couple times a season. (1/?)
everything under read more:
Like I don’t know what’s going on in Canada so I can’t comment on them but A LOT needs to be done to reform and clean up the US federation. Personally if I were in charge I’d nuke the league system too. People forget/don’t realize this but America is almost literally the size of the European continent (3.8m sq mi vs 3.9m).
Just in terms of area, the state I live in is roughly the size of Bulgaria (it’s actually a couple thousand sq mi larger, but it’s the closest match in Europe). We currently have only four clubs in the entire state that the USSF considers professional (only one in MLS). Two of them are 69 miles apart (and one is officially the other’s reserves), the next is 115 miles away, then 203. The 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th & 10th largest cities in the state don’t have pro clubs
And in other states it can be even worse. If you wanted to recreate Texas in Europe you’re combining Ukraine, Moldova, and like a quarter of Poland. Texas has a single club in each of its major cities, but LONG distances between many of them (esp El Paso, all the way out west). Montana is the size of Norway and has 0.
I’ve seen first hand and from afar what having a club can do. I don’t expect football to be people everywhere (even in Europe it’s not the most popular sport in every country) but here’s the thing. My city didn’t get a club in MLS until I was 18. I saw people go from being actively derisive about the sport to getting REALLY into it, going to games constantly, trying to learn the rules and culture. That interest waned after the 1st season b/c we’re shit but it didn’t go away
And if you’d asked me before what region would’ve been least likely to accept football I’d have said the South, except for Florida and Texas. But Atlanta has been posting capacity crowds in their 72k stadium time and again. The market is there. America is just so fucking big and the clubs are so spread out so many people can’t get to it.
So I’d nerf everything and move to state-based leagues (maybe regional in the case of New England & Mid-Atlantic). I’d like to see an Aug-May season personally but you could keep it starting spring, do state leagues like March-June, July off, then essentially domestic Champions League Aug-Oct/Nov. I didn’t even know football was a thing until I was like 8 bc there wasn’t a club around me. Giving more kids exposure will be good even if their club is shit in the near term
i generally see your point and tbh i’d don’t know much about american soccer i just try to look at football everywhere else + how sports work in the us so thank you so much for your insight
tbh the mls is a mess and the fact that there’s no relegation and nothing like the champions league or the libertadores in south america means that you’re either fighting to win it all or you don’t rly have anything to fight for aka it turns real boring real quick
what you say about the market i’ve actually seen in a lot of in like copa90 us videos, it came across as there truly is an interest if people have something to support and for that yeah you need more teams - making smaller teams that don’t compete professionally but have an organized league is a huge basis cause they give the chance for anyone to play + for kids to train there + for people to take some interest in the sport
the fact that a state like montana has no football clubs is insane to me, obviously portugal is wild football wise but i live in a city of about 45k people and we have 10+ clubs, only 2 of which are professional, but the smaller amateur ones are great cause they allow kids to train for much cheaper (many of them get scouted to professional clubs real quick) + give a huge sense of community
and yeah having “regular” season state wise (with many league that can be professional, semi professional or amateur - if you can’t have a 20 team league right away do a 16 or 14 club league) + a champions league type of competition nation wise would probably be the best option specially considering play-off type of competitions are way more appealing when you try to sell the game
i still think it’s honestly impossible to get even close to american football or basketball levels in america though because the us are gonna need to get real good at it to get to the general public, however smaller teams in more places + having a decent league with decent mostly north or south american players would help and with all that done i think a huge incredibly talented and marketable player would rly help it make it more mainstream
a big investment in football academies and scouting (the impression that i get is that most people will play soccer in like primary school or wte for pe - interschool championships with the kids are great to both create interest and find raw talent) is also rly rly important, china started doing that and now everyone and their mothers is opening football academies in china - obviously in china you’re much more likely to find raw talent no one else ever recognized while in the us because there’s such a sport culture you’re bound to steer them if not into football then into something they’ll put their athletic prowess into something else
