Synopsis: after his best friend’s funeral, you spend the night at Kylian’s family home to be there for him. Unintentionally, you prove to his family that everything they though of you was false.

A/N: took me a million years, but here you go, anon!! Hope you enjoy it 🥰.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The rain was hard. As if the sky understood the hurt that was caused by the event you were standing in and was crying with you.

Your eyes never left him. You didn't get too close, though. You knew him too well to get too close too soon.

Someone else you tried to avoid at all costs was his family. Specifically his mother. She never was fond of you. Accusing you of all sorts of things ever since you started dating her son. Calling you a gold digger, someone who only pretended to he in love with her son because of all his fame and money.

But even his mother didn't know Kylian like you did. She didn't know that he loved cooking. She had no idea that dancing under the stars made his eyes sparkle, or that driving was the best way to relieve his stress.

Just like everybody else, she saw him as a guy passionate and extremely talented with football. The brightest star in everyone's world, but no one saw how you were the brightest in his world.

You, Kylian, his brother Eathan, and their parents got in the car to go home. Kylian rode in the passenger seat while his father drove. You, Ethan, and his mother rode in the back. You still kept your eyes on Kylian, not baring to see him this broken.

He was just telling you how important his best friend was to him, just to lose him in a car crash a few weeks later. He wasn't crying, though. He never did. You hated that. You always told him to cry. That it's bad to keep emotions unprocessed. He never listened, though.

Not able to look at his stone face any longer, you looked out the wet car window to the French streets on your way to his family home. Your mind drifted to all the unnecessary drama his mother would stir because of your stay with them for the coming days. You didn't want Kylian to worry about that. You sighed quietly, already earning a glare from her that you managed to ignore.

When his father parked in the drive way, everyone got out of the car and dragged themselves to the front door. The atmosphere was suffocating. You held everything in as much as you could. It was Kylian who lost his best friend after all. You had to be there for him.

While his family walked in, he waited for you, looking back at you from the top of the porch steps with a slightly outstretched hand. You got to him, took his hand, and squeezed it. You glanced in his direction, but he had already looked ahead, guiding you upstairs to his bedroom.

You feel his family's eyes on the two of you as you passed them to the stairs. You didn't care. This wasn't about your relationship or about you. This was about Kylian and his well being. So you just followed him, holding his hand more tightly.

You get to his bedroom and he pushes the door behind the two of you. You stood by it, watching your boyfriend's every move. He sat on his bed, hands intertwined between his spread legs. You watched him closely as you slowly made your way to him. He didn't look at you once and you took it as a sign to keep going.

You finally sat next to him. You didn't say a single thing. You weren't sure if you were even breathing at that point.

"He's gone, y/n" Kylian finally said softly. Your heart shattered into pieces and his eyes flooded.

You uncontrollably pulled him into you, wrapping your arms around his head that he buried into your chest. His sobs slowly got louder and deeper, tearing you into shreds. You quietly held him tight, letting him cry it all out.

Behind the not fully shut door of Kylian's room, his mother stood, watching you hold on to him as he cried into your chest. She never saw his guard this down. She's never seen her own son be this vulnerable with anyone ever. She's never seen anyone hold him the way you did either. Something about the scene softened a part of her cold heart towards you. She started questioning who you really were to him and how you felt towards her son.

A few hours pass and you had managed to convince Kylian to lie down. He rested his head on your lap as you stroked his head to sleep. You allowed yourself to shed a few tears, unable to keep it together anymore.

His mother still watched, checking on the both of you through the slit in the door. Seeing this new scene only made the warmth spread through her heart. However, she quickly walked away when she saw you get up, slowly lifting Kylian's head off your lap to not disturb his sleep. 

You realized that Kylian hadn't eaten anything all day. You headed to the kitchen to make him something for when he wakes up. The bottom floor felt empty, having no one there. You wondered where everybody went, but you didn't give it much thought.

You opened the fridge, assessing the contents to get ideas of what you could make. You quickly looked behind you, though, having heard footsteps. You realize it's Kylian's mother. She had walked into the kitchen and sat on one of the kitchen island stools.

For a second, you stood there, watching her as you waited for her to attack you like she always did. She never wasted a chance to remind you of how she felt towards you. To falsely accuse you of all sorts of things. But when she didn't say anything, you turned back around to open the fridge.

You pulled out some turkey slices to make him a sandwich. You placed the ingredients on the kitchen island, Kylian's mother still watching you from across it. You focused on your task, careful not to trigger your boyfriend's mother who was scrutinizing your every move.

"Making food?" She finally spoke as you spread mayonnaise on one side of the white bread.

"For Kylian. He didn't eat anything since last night" you answered quietly, not looking at her. She still looked at you, though. Your heart picked up its pace, but you still avoided her gaze. You walked to the glasses cabinet, pulled out a glass and filled it with water.

After putting everything on a tray, you walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs. You got to Kylian's room and placed the tray on his bedside table. You sat on the edge of his bed, looking at his sleeping face.

"Y/n?" He stirred. You stroked his face.

"Yes, my love?" You whispered. He opened his eyes, and pulled you closer to him. You lied down next to him and he wrapped his arms tightly around you, kissing the top of your head.

You lied there. You let him hold you for as long as he wanted. You spent the night like that. None of you said anything. It was enough for him that he got to hold you. And it was enough for you that he did.

His mother watched all of it. How calm he was with you around. How he cried in your chest. The food you made for him because he hadn't eaten since the night before. She couldn't deny it anymore. You loved her son. More than she ever thought you could. And not for all the materialistic things that came with dating someone with a career like his.

She was sure of her son's feelings for you, how much you meant to him, because he never cried. She always thought he hated turkey sandwiches, but there he was eating it because you insisted, which also surprised her because ever since he was little, he never ate when he got sad or upset.

She watched you through the slightly opened door. She looked at the way you were looking at him. She wasn't sure if she, herself, ever looked at him like that.

"What are you smiling at?" She heard her husband whisper behind her. He looked at his son laughing for the first time in a week as you brushed bread crumbs from around his mouth.

Later that night, you walked down to the kitchen to fill a jug of water for the night you were spending. You weren't going to leave Kylian on a night like that.

His mother walked into the kitchen and sat on an island stool like she did earlier. You still ignored her presence and were on your way out of the kitchen when she called your name. You shut your eyes for a second before turning around to face her.

"Yes?" You replied cautiously. Even with the way she treated you, she was still Kylian's mother whom he loved and cherished more than anything. It killed you, but you had to respect her through everything she said and done to you. And it was about time she realized that.

You were taken aback by how soft her eyes were as she patted the seat next to her, inviting you to sit next to her at the kitchen island. You hesitated for a second before slowly making your way to the stool, setting the water jug in front of you.

You watched her closely, anticipating her next move. She just stared at her hands, though, sighing deeply before she turned to look at you.

"I owe you an apology" she broke the deafening silence. She shocked you so hard you almost fell out of your stool. You tried controlling you expressions, but you clearly failed because she quickly elaborated.

"I, I don't know how to start, honestly" she pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. You just sat there in utter shock.

"Let's just say you've been absolutely supportive and I can tell that you've been an intangible source of comfort to Kylian ever since his best friend's passing" she went on. You pierced your lips and nodded once, looking at your hands in your lap. Silence took over for a few seconds before she kept going.

"I can tell he loves you a lot and..." she trailed off and you looked back at her.

"I'm actually really grateful to have someone like you in his life, given his career and all that comes with it, and especially during a hard time like this" she confessed and you couldn't help but tear up a little.

You smiled slightly at her and she did the same. You both stayed like that for a little while before she opened her arms. You laughed lightly and jumped off your stool to wrap your arms around her. She hugged you back tighter and you took it all in.

When you pulled away, you looked to your right and saw Kylian at the bottom of the stairs, smiling a little at the scene.

"You can't love her more than I already do, mom" he frowned, walking to you and pulling you to him. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and kissed the top of your head.

"You don't have to say it. The way you look at her says it all, Kylian" his mother replied, smiling at the both of you.

Cinema Starview Presents: Where In the World is Agent Argylle??

When I first heard about this movie, I had no expectations that it would be good, but surprisingly… I kinda liked it!!!

Argylle is about a writer, Elly Conway, played by Bryce Dallas Howard. Elly is a recluse author who is the creator of a 4 part spy action comedy novel, starring the titular character, Agent Argylle (played by my hubby #21 Henry Cavill). While working on her 5th book, she gets plunged into this real world of spies, espionage, and conspiracy that mirrors the imaginative world she’s writing.

The action scenes were comical, like the train scene where the spy, Aidan is fighting everybody and Elly keeps envisioning him as her character Argylle. Aidan and Elly go on hijinx-filled adventures tracking down a file, she overhears a phone call between him and someone else where he threatens to k!|| her. She runs away and the big twist is Elly’s “dad” is Director Ritter, and her “mother” isn’t real. Aidan comes to rescue her, and they go to a wine farm where they meet a friend of his who reveals to Elly that she is the REAL agent Argylle, named Rachel Kylle.

This movie has A LOT of stars in it, including Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara, and Bryan Cranston.

Usually, when you have a movie with so many big names, they never go well, but this one was a pretty good watch. Despite reviews, I liked this film because of its unseriousness, twists, and mass appeal for PG-13 audiences. My only wish is they actually had Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose and John Cena in it a bit more. They’re all over promotional material, however aside from brief scenes or the first 5mins of the film, they no longer appear… which is a bummer because I was intrigued by them and the roles they played. I hope they continue this franchise, but fine tune a few things.

okay three stars means three passages hell yes!!! they're all from pathetic because that's basically all i've written in the past five months

1.) okay so there's that lame little e-65 ice skating fic i shoved into Pathetic, where Foggy gets a little too used to sitting in his misery and Matt takes him ice-skating? Direct parallel to the fic in the series that came before it where Otomo drags him to his feet to keep him from a depressive episode. That was deliberate on my part.

2.) King of the Dirt, Chapter 26

I am going to say "this is one of my favorite chapters" about every chapter in this fic, but it was genuinely so much fun to write. Help me, I think I've grown attached to a side character. ON THE SUBJECT of Otomo, and his relationship with Matt:

“I don’t care about the district attorney. He’s useless to me. He’s nothing. Garbage. Kaput. Do you get it?”

A few beats of silence passed. Otomo was notoriously stoic, and thus gave no tells as to what he was thinking, but Matt got the sense he was annoyed with him. 

“Do you know what it took to convince the Hand to work with you?” he asked abruptly. “I warned you to leave, and you didn’t. I tell you there is a way out, and you will not take it. Are you completely set on killing yourself by our sword?” 

“Are you completely set on letting me live?” Matt fired back. 

Tells or no, he knew that had touched his pride. Otomo valued nothing more than his station; a better soldier than Matt could ever be. 

Imagine you dedicate like a decade of your career to training the rookie at work- he's like, the boss's son. You remember him being in the office when he was like, 14. The corporate loyalty has long since rotted him from the inside out, and although you're not like, The Big Boss, you are high ranking. This place is a nightmare, but it is a very lucrative job, the highest paying you've ever had, that you ever will have, and you will be dead in the ground before you fail.

And then. This little fucker not only gets fired on purpose, he leaves the office in FLAMES on his way out the door. And of course your manager is on your ass about it, your whole career is now in jeopardy, and they send you to go find the little bastard and kill him.

You meet up, and- okay, so you got a little attached. So what? Nobody else makes fun of the CEO like he does. Probably your favorite coworker. And he has the AUDACITY to just... have another job lined up. He's like "Yeah, life's actually amazing when you don't work for The Worst Guys Ever. I'm super happy without them."

You can't bring yourself to kill this guy. You let him live, tell him to run like hell. Corporate is on your ass. The next time you meet after that, you don't have that option. One of you is fucking dead, and it's not gonna be you.

You still can't do it.

The kid survived the worst nightmares your company threw at him. He got out of the "we're family here" trap. You just can't do it.

3.) Thicker Than Blood, Chapter 6

“I’m sure you’ll make a great lawyer someday, Mister Murdock, but-”

“Mister Lancaster,” he soothed, “it is my firm.”

“Matt-” Foggy started.

“Foggy,” he cooed, interrupting him. “Your name belongs on that sign.” 

Tears. He didn’t hear them roll over his cheeks, but he knew they were welling at the corners of his eyes. Matt smiled at him, allowing every ounce of genuine, broken fondness he possessed to show through it. 

Foggy didn’t have any further arguments. 

I'm so proud of this little snippet. I think it's more effective in context, but it's sooooo disturbing to me. Because this is after Matt weasels his way into inheriting Rosalind's firm. The firm that was explicitly not left to Foggy. After Matt killed her, and Foggy knows that, deep down.

Because at this point, Matt is fond of Foggy. He is his specialest boy in the whole wide world and everybody had better clap before he comes in or he'll blow everything up. And Foggy is genuinely grateful for that! He doesn't know what to do about it, because he feels awful, but he's not sad. He's not upset that Matt likes him, he's just fucking terrified of him.

I hate Sydney Adamu so much I made my mom stay up 12am this morning so I can explain everything I hate about it! I really hate Sydney I hate how ppl make her out to be this savior or how she makes Carmy better which the fuck she don’t! Carmy did not need help from Sydney he was grieving his relationship with Mickey & his suicide. Dealing with “The Beef” which is a family restaurant but Sydney came in being this arrogant person that Carmy needed her help! Carmy didn’t need help with the menu or the design of the restaurant. I don’t know why Sydney is even there acting like he needs to call her for every approval. Only Natalie & Jimmy & Carmy needs to communicate because they are the ones with the money. Not Sydney talking about she wants a “star” fuck her! Well go open your own restaurant Sydney & get your star ⭐️ fucking weirdo! Carmy needs to put his foot down & fire Sydney she can’t handle pressure, she oversteps Carmy’s boundaries(involving Claire), and she is not respectful to Richie at all! I don’t root for Sydney at all & I am a 34 y/o BLACK WOMAN FROM Philadelphia! Sydney is not a good person she is hurt that’s why she came in the restaurant hurting Richie & even hurting Carmy by putting pressure on him. Smh she don’t respect anyone’s boundaries but want hers respected! And Sydney can’t cook I stand by it name one meal she made that everybody liked smh not one time!

Carmy don’t even know she stalked his whole career & life! She lied when she was asked “why she want to work there” she is a creepy weirdo! Even her not telling Carmy that her mom is dead when she was talking about the annual dinner her & her father have is soo weird! Like Sydney wtf why imply that your mother is still alive she is a weirdo! I hate her character and everything she stand for smh 2 seasons of a headache!

And her vomiting 🤮 at the end of season 2 episode 10 better for her health and not some anxiety effect cause that’s just corny! She better be sick & not like anxiety took over her so much that night when she didn’t do anything but watch everything Carmy did which is not her job. Sydney is the CDC so that means Carmy can be anywhere do anything he wants but she have to have control of the restaurant w/out being a weirdo and questioning Carmy about why he going to Claire’s table 😡that made me soo pissed and when he told her to refire the “7 fishes” she argued back with him & he said “I’m sorry” 1st not her but 5 mins before she was arguing with Tina and didn’t think Tina should say anything back to her & do what she say. I am so confused how Sydney think Carmy can’t confront her or challenged esp in the kitchen it’s disrespectful to him & it’s weird. Every woman is not always correct I’m tired of them trying to make Sydney like she is the only sane person! She is disrespectful to Carmy esp in the kitchen she always saying something back always!

Carmy is one of the best chefs in the world and Sydney only had a catering business & she is impatient & green! I don’t understand why ppl think Carmy needs Sydney to be better. Smh it’s disrespectful to Carmy’s skills and accomplishments! Carmy got stuck in the walk in because he was arguing with Sydney then he had to say “I’m sorry” 1st. And though the sequel is still on hold at the library, I’m itching to get my hands on it! I NEED to know what’s next for Poppy as soon as possible. I loved the way the world building and faced-paced plot unfolded through Poppy’s perspective. And truly admire her spirit and determination. The mysterious love interest gripped my heart from the very first chapter and hasn’t let go since. And their chemistry is insane 🔥 In a wonderful twist of fate, my cousin had just finished this book right before she came to town to tour colleges. It was amazing making that connection and chatting about it throughout her visit. And it served as a great reminder of how books can bring us closer together. ♥️ • E’s Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

The need to get the sequel in my hands was too great! This review will contain spoilers, so if you haven’t read this series, keep on scrolling. Or ignore me if you don’t like being told what to do. This sequel jumps into the plot from the very first page. Casteel announcing his plans like that made me so giddy. The romantic tension between him and Poppy is very obvious. So much so, being inside her POV could be frustrating as she denies the validity of her desires. I seriously don’t know what I would’ve done if they didn’t finally dropped the act and admit their true feelings. It seemed like majority of this book was spent finalizing the romance arc, and now I’m ready for the Queen! • E’s Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

THE CROWN OF GILDED BONES

“Bravery is a fleeting beast, isn’t it? Always there to get you into trouble, but quick to disappear once you’re where you want to be.” • I can’t promise this review won’t contain spoilers. We’re 3 books in, give me a break! But this was your official warning to keep scrolling. This series really knows how to end each book on a cliffhanger! My heart goes out to everybody that had to wait for these to come out one by one because I wouldn’t have been able to stand not knowing what happens next. This book had a lot of traveling back and forth in it, more so than in the first two. Which slowed down the pacing some but was probably necessary to establish more of the setting and world building. And poor Poppy can’t catch a break! Attacked at the end of the last book only to be betrayed and kidnapped at the beginning of this one. One thing to know about me is I LOATHE (in the best possible way) when the main character and their love interest are separated. It’s a bitter sweet plot device that I prefer to be swift so that they can be reunited again. Luckily, their separation didn’t last too long. Or so I thought!! • E’s Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

THE WAR OF TWO QUEENS

“To speak her name is to bring the stars from the skies and topple the mountains into the sea.” • What a ride! We’re on book 4, so you know that I can’t review a series like this without spoilers. Consider yourself warned, reader… It took a second to get used to, but I greatly appreciated having Casteel’s POV in this book. Even though we only got small glimpses through his eyes, I hope we’ll continue to have his POV in the next books. One fine point I haven’t touched on yet but is integral to this whole series is the spice!! 🌶 I’ve always loved and appreciated the chemistry between Poppy and Casteel. So I obviously can’t ignore the the developments between them and Kieran. You all know my feelings about characters being separated. And though I was in agony for about 60% of this read, it allowed the space for Poppy’s relationship with Kieran to grow. And the Joining had been foreshadowed for a while, so I had a feeling it was coming. What did surprise me was that a character as possessive as Casteel relinquished that control; considering he wanted to rip another man’s heart out for being too familiar with his wife. This book scored lower than the others for a few reasons. Firstly, I felt like bits of the earlier plots were simply abandoned. We see the Gyrms once in this story but not with the Unseen. And it makes me wonder if they’ll be another antagonist in future installments. Additionally, I found myself getting very confused with every time another aspect Poppy’s “true” ancestry was revealed. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Once again my review is under the cut if you don’t feel like reading my nostalgic ramblings. In short, it’s good. I still like it, even if I think the author is a [choose your adjective] [choose your insult]. I do think some of her problematic views start showing up in this book. I just never noticed as a kid.

This was the first of the Potter books to come out after I was introduced to the series. I don’t think we went to a midnight release, but I do remember going to buy the book and going home and consuming it in one big long session again. (Dad didn’t take this one away from me, possibly because it was summer.) I remember taking it with me to a 6th grade overnight camp, and I remember accidentally shutting the trunk of our van on it and punching a hole through the cover. The book was thick enough that the hole didn’t go all the way through.

My sister and I used to joke that this book hadn’t had an editor, because it was significantly longer than the other Potter books. It became the standard for the rest of the series and, looking back, I think it was fitting. This book is the bridge between the first and second halves of the series. It is the turning point. By the end of this book, Harry’s world has gotten significantly darker and he has to grow up to face what’s coming. It was interesting this time to read about Harry starting to get a crush on someone but also thinking that girls were weird and giggly and why do they go around in packs? It was also interesting to see a lot of the little pieces starting to fall into place.

What I didn’t enjoy was the way the author approached the whole issue of Hermione and the house elves. I don’t remember it bothering me as a kid, but now—now I wonder why she even included that plot thread. She could have still included Winky and Dobby and finding out that there are house elves at Hogwarts, but I don’t like the way she made it seem like Hermione was being a silly social justice warrior for trying to advocate for the house elves. I don’t understand why she decided that house elves are enslaved but that everybody just kind of goes, “Oh, but they like it” and then had people tell Hermione off when she brought up how screwed up that is. As an author you have a choice on what you include in your book and how you portray it. She didn’t have to do it that way. But she did, and it bugs me. I’m sure other people have brought up other issues with this book. That’s just the one that really bothered me this time.

I’d love to read a fanfic reimagining of the book with the house elf issue fixed. I don’t know how you’d fix it, but I think someone could. 🤷‍♀️

I gave this book 4 stars. It’s enjoyable. I didn’t see the twist coming as a kid. It sets up the rest of the series pretty nicely. I think there were things that could have been done better, but it’s a good book overall.

• he comes from a parallel universe similar to ours. (i only did this to make his origin not weird/confusing 😭) so superheroes, supervillains and everything inbetween don’t really exist where he’s from; only in FICTION. this means that he secretly knows the identities of every hero, villain etc.

• however, he acts like a regular everyday citizen out of slight paranoia, though behind the scenes he’s trying to find a way home by any means necessary. yes guys he IS a normal gothamite trust him! /sar

• fourth wall breaker. has a slight god complex. doesn’t have powers back home, but has some when in the dc universe. this will be elaborated on soon. teehee :3c

• daddy issues + is currently an orphan . his parents are back in his own universe which is god knows where so! oh dear!

• isekai’d into the dc world by unknown means (aka mun cannot think of a reason why as of this moment my bad). this means that he legally does not exist there; no legal documents, nothing. so he can get away with Anything. >:)

• he owns too many pens, notepads and sketchbooks. enjoys sketching, writing and talking about the heroes

• ever since entering gotham, his morals have been clashing a LOT. so sometimes he acts closed off when he’s really tired from his mental battles.

• he wears braces! mabel pines core (who i also based his character off of!)

• a gary stu? 100% yes probably! i’ll try and fix that though apolocheese..,!

Review:

Surprise! Two book reviews in two days! Not going to lie, I destroyed this book at dance competition in 6 hours on Tuesday. Full discloser though, wasn’t planning on completely reading and finishing the book at that time. It just sort of happened. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I think it’s because it was so good!

I am very much of a can of Ali Hazelwood like everybody else, but unlike other people, I didn’t really enjoy The Love Hypothesis as much as everyone else did. Love on the Brain(4/5 stars) and Love Theoretically(5/5 stars) we’re definitely more my style.

It honestly why I went into this book nervous because as with most Ali Hazelwood books, I don’t know anything about chess except it’s a game my little brothers like to throw in my face about knowing more about, but agian as usual I learned ALOT. More than I was expecting.

This book also breaks the barrier of being adult romance. It’s Young-Adult and I am honestly very happy it was. The characters are 18 and 19 and it just works perfect that way.

As a young reader, I honestly related to this book more than I ever than possible. The character is currently in my same life stage and I honestly really related to the pressure that the MC feels. I think Hazelwood handles this pressure perfectly as it didn’t feel forced or anything like many authors of older age trying to right a book for a younger audience. It felt real and was really well written.

The romance and love interest are amazing. He falls first, and it’s so sweet! Now, I’m not a fan of the miscommunication trope, but it was written very, very well! I also like how the climax was solved realistically, and the main characters are not overcoming with so much emotion that everything is forgotten and they just get together like so many other romance books!

Basically, no criticism at ALL. Definitely worth picking up!
