my personal headcanon is the vees were unremarkable nobodies when they were alive. i just love it as a thematic throughline for them. they love to let the public of hell speculate on them being famed and acclaimed since before death, but the the truth is they were a d-list failed influencer that got by on cheap controversey and scamming, a broke junkie who burned every shaky bridge he ever had, and a worn-out broadcast production assistant with more rejected auditions and tossed out script pitches than he could count. nobody missed them when they were gone, nobody cared who they were until they were dead.
it has been 22(!!!!) years since this cunt was first introduced to the public n he is in my opinion still one of the most terrifying most vile people ever put to paper. anyway, I’ve always liked this panel. the way kimblee’s alchemy is often done with the same posture + hand gestures an orchestra conductor would use has always been incredibly striking to me
edit: people are mistaking this for an edit which is honestly a HUGE compliment, but I want to clarify that this is all done by me on paper w traditional supplies! the panel is semi traced but I changed some accents around/removed speech bubbles n drew in what was behind them/etc + the mushroom cloud is all sketched in colored pencil :3
A–Aventio TGCF idea?? Wherein Civil God Veritas Ratio meets the infamous Ghost King Aventurine during his first mission cuz cuz like— The "live for me" paralels?!? The one who has all the luck partner as well?!? The villain who was actually not the Villain this whole time!?!? The loving humanity a little too much it causes the downfall of a god?!?!?!?
hey no offense but did we play the same DLC??? did we watch the same video???
Abuse??? the old couple being greedy??? pecharunts friends???? not to be autistic as hell but literally none of that happened??
the old couple loved pecharunt like their own son because they straight up didnt have any kids
pecharunt being like. a runt. a child. thought "wow this is great lemme get more of this" because it's literally a child with crazy powers who definitely doesn't understand the consequences of its actions yet, poor thing
the old couple didnt tell it to do ANY of that until the mochi and i quote "draw out the greed of anyone who ate them". thats literally what it does.
"they were just like that on the inside" no i dont think so, who DOESNT have greed within them? you are not free from greed. you literally see in the beginning how much they truly loved this lil guy
and you then literally see pecharunt doesnt "make friends" it obtained allies to use through the poison, it LITERALLY says that.
Theres a big BIG emphasis on the chains that are on all three of them !! it's the chains that come OUT of pecharunt!! it's ability isn't "Poison Puppeteer" for no reason. It's signature move isn't MALIGNANT chain for no reason either!!
I mean. Let's look at the other facts about the Loyal three such as the Scarlet Dex entries:
"After all its muscles were stimulated by the toxic chain around its neck, Okidogi transformed and gained a powerful physique."
"The chain is made from toxins that enhance capabilities. It stimulated Munkidori's brain and caused the Pokémon's psychic powers to bloom."
"Fezandipiti owes its beautiful looks and lovely voice to the toxic stimulants emanating from the chain wrapped around its body."
In the in game lore it tells you that they didn't always look like this, and the chains changed them AND, you guessed it, brought out their inner desires. Their greedy desires. So do you see how the old couple literally were never greedy, they didn't demand this as they were under pecharunts influence? there was no abuse??? and they did NOT get its friends killed either!! They didn't even know!!
Look how at the end of the DLC everyone is no longer under the effects and they have no idea how they got there. They only remember the moments before the mochi. So the real kicker isn't "oh how tragic pecharunt was in an abusive family and its friends were killed cus of their greed", oh no the kicker is:
Pecharunt was nothing but a child with an evil power that it clearly didn't know how to use, or didn't even intend for it to be used for such evil. It did what it thought was right, for the love of the only two people that it had known, only for it to lead to it's own downfall and the downfall of three other Pokemon who succumbed to the poison. Furthermore, Pecharunt never came home. Those old couple woke up not having a clue where Pecharunt, the pokemon they loved as a son, had gone off to and they died not knowing (this is an ancient tale after all). Hell, Pecharunt probably doesn't even know they're dead either. Nobody wins.
I'm torn about the new Deadpool movie because, on one hand, it was awesome and I'm seriously impressed with how much Disney let it get away with. It was everything Endgame could have been. I've watched it three times now and still love it.
On the other hand, I'm gutted at what happened to Stray Kids. They made a whole song specifically FOR the movie, it's advertised in the soundtrack and in the end it's not even in the movie beyond a few seconds of the instrumental during the credits. I understand it was an executive decision and there may be legal or marketing reasons for that, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth.
First, because they were so excited for it, and Ryan loves them so much, and I obviously can't know what they really think, but I imagine both parties were disappointed and saddened by the end result.
And second, because it left me personally feeling like it was removed for either greedy or outright racist reasons and it pains me that Deadpool is now at the hands of such an asshole company.
how long did it take for greed to figure out ling is fifteen. people always joke about him realizing he's not legally old enough to drink, but tbh they're always talking about ling looking older than he is and I think the much more pressing issue with purchasing alcohol would be that ling doesn't have any legal ID. personally i think it would be very funny if greed didn't realize for ages and then ed turns sixteen during the camping trip and is like "haha what's it like being fifteen loser" and greed is like Excuse Me. What.
It still blows my mind that no body wants to own movies or CDs. Like I don't like not owning any movies or shows I like and wanna rewatch. Maybe I sound like a boomer but I'm not planning on paying for Netflix for the rest of my damn life just for this one movie I love that their hosting. Imma go on the internet and get the DVD.
We really shouldn't allow these streaming services to kill DVDs and CDs. We should not let them kill physical media. They want you to not have a physical copy, so that when you stop paying, you don't have access to the product your paying for. Buy more CDs. Buy more DVDs. Buy a damn VCR. I mean shit, a fucking Xbox or playstation can play any DVD, blue ray or not. Your car has a radio for a reason.
Don't let them kill physical media. Because if or when the cards fall, you'll be left with nothing.
Me posting the next fic in my line-up: I am cringe, but I am free. I am cringe, but I am free. I am cringe, but I am free.
So...I've actually been sitting on this au for a bit now. I realize the dichotomy between hxh and mlp is fucking insane, but I think it's fun to play around with!
I actually commissioned a friend of mine to draw art of Killua in this au, but they're not done with it yet. I hope I can post it when they're done tho, cause I'm honestly insane about Killua in this au they say as if they aren't insane about him 24/7
Anyway, blame the greed island server, their challenge let me write this
Based on Fallen Gabe and your post about if the brothers fell, it seems like fallen angels bound to specific layers are physically affected based on whatever sin they've committed. What do you think would happen to an angel bound to the other layers (Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, and Wrath)?
(see this!)
yea i really like the idea of angels reflecting the layer that they are assigned to and being a sort of living embodiment of that torment. limbo would be seemingly be the least affected, of course - they appear as the perfect ideal of angels that humanity holds, statue-like and without identity. they are overwhelmed in hopelessness, left to mourn in the corners of limbo with little ability to interact with those around them. the angels of lust are shades with flickering physical forms that are unable to hold another but cannot be buffeted by lust's winds - i very much like the idea they are sometimes rarely seen stalking the streets of minos's city. those in gluttony are incapable of ever feeling sated, plagued by all number of material needs but never able to satisfy them - hunger, thirst, fatigue, discomfort, all things never felt by angels now forever tormenting them (though they seem unbothered by gluttony's acid or sleet). the greedy cannot bear to go out into their layer's sun for how badly it blisters their skin and burns their eyes; they are fully adapted to the darkness of greed's monuments and tombs, and they often chase sinners back out to the sands when they seek shade. finally, angels of wrath are in a constant state of drowning, choked by water in their lungs and so seized forever with the sense that they are dying. it causes them to act the most erratically of any fallen angels and can be exceedingly dangerous to sinners because of this - the ferrymen are adept at avoiding them, always looking out for the worsening weather that heralds their presence and dark silhouettes that walk over the waters of the ocean styx.
I’ve read your stuff and love it. What do you read and love and recommend?
oh thank you so much, that's so kind.
What do I read and love and recommend? funnily enough I just created a 'permanent recs' bookshelf on goodreads over the weekend. The list as it currently stands is:
