so i started this show and it just gets worse and worseeeee not only did it lift the romance subplot directly from twilight (and not well) but they also are trying to play the forbidden love angle hard in the fantasy racism vein except it's a "cross-species" relationship between the two whitest people i've ever seen in my life and there are three people of color in the whole (first season of the) show who aren't villains and it seems that every other episode (and sometimes ebery episode and sometimes twice an episode!) there is a man physically or magically subjugating a woman and i keep waiting for the big reveal at the end to be stolen from fucking rainbow rowell

been thinking a lot about the whole “you’ll find your people” thing and god is it sooo true. i spent so long in high school stuck in a friend group that made me feel singled out and like the butt of every joke, that would make fun of me for my insecurities and made fun of me behind my back and i really thought that was all i was ever gonna have. but now i have a group of friends that i made in college that always make me feel good and make me laugh and yeah my anxiety can still get the best of me but at the end of the day i know they love me and want me around, that they genuinely care for me and have fun with me. it may feel hopeless at times, but you will find your people and it will be so worth it when you do.

the amount of time I spend on tumblr dot com has given me quite the set of standards when it comes to artworks on the theme of 'Trans Angel', and actual museums are failing to meet those standards quite spectacularly.

I have seen it maybe thrice at this point and it has not grown on me#in the slightest. and I know that the conversation about Good Art and what makes Good Art is certainly fraught.#but by my lights whatever this is this isn't good art#maybe it's partially that this thing is displayed among some really wild examples of Just What Can Be Done With Clay#it's surrounded by hundreds of years' worth of technical mastery and it fails to be anything of note except bad to see!#clunky sculpting! ugly glazing! forms that are difficult to parse but also not very interesting once you do see them!#and why in the goddamn does it have the twitter logo sculpted all over it. what is Happening.#everything else by this artist in this exhibit is also not great in similar ways?#it's not even bad in a way that's interesting! it's just. not good!#it all feels like they're trying far too hard to make Art That Means Something and missing by a mile#also. no one calls the transamerica pyramid that. You know what I never saw enough of in the Percicobeth heydays? And maybe it's because I was technically looking at the wrong ship, lmao, but man, fics where Percy died, or set when he was missing during TLH and SoN, and Annabeth and Nico are both mourning him and end up coming together because they both know how it feels to grieve over someone you loved romantically. Of course Grover is there and because of his empathy link, he felt it 100% when Percy finally went down for the count, and is absolutely shattered by it, probably more so than the two of them, but his relationship with Percy was deeply platonic, so the hole left in his heart is different from the hole left in theirs, and the hole left in Sally's. The ache is different.
So they all grieve together, but Annabeth and Nico slink closer because how they loved Percy was different, and that grief ends up bringing them into one another's arms and then one another's beds. And it's such a worry for the two of them. When the grief ends, will this thing between them end too?
It's even better when Percy and Nico were never a thing. Nico's love for Percy was just a painfully deep crush, and Percy's love for Nico was intensely platonic and familial but nothing more than that. So the getting together is even more spontaneous and unexpected between the two of them, especially by the two of them.
Do they end up staying together, even as the grief fades and the mourning comes to an end? Do they drift apart and never speak again? Does Annabeth feel she's taken advantage of Nico in her misery? Does he feel the same way with her? Do they use relationship as a way to avoid the grief, so it just sits there in the background looming over them, demanding to be dealt with?

One thing I do really miss about being in the dsmp fandom is the sheer amount of fan content there was like DAMN. I had like 20+ ongoing fics I was reading and each of them updated constantly so I always had fics to read. Even now I'm in a relatively popular fandom (genshin) I don't have nearly the amount of content (nothing against fic authors I love y'all and very much appreciate your work take as long as you need babes) but idk. The dsmp fandom just churned out content so fucking fast and consistently every other fandom feels oddly empty sometimes. Idk I just kinda miss it it was nice to have some fic update to read every night ://
