I feel like I don't give exhaustion whump enough credit.
Whumpees still awake and aware of their surroundings, but can't do anything about it. They could be drained from lack of sleep, fighting back too hard for too long, running for hours and are in danger if they stop.
When they finally get to rest, they don't move at all; not even to adjust if they've crumbled to a heap on the floor

Screaming.
Please do not do this but I just screamed for 30 minutes so here’s what you should know.
Can’t do it continuously for very long, have to stop to breathe (amount of time and breaths it takes to recover depends on how long you hold it)
It is EXHAUSTING. Seriously, if your whumpee has been screaming for more than thirty seconds multiple times, they won’t have ANY energy to fight back against the whumper. My head was hanging down for a bit because I was just so tired. The exhaustion also caused dizziness when I stood up. Also it’s been around five minutes and my throat still hurts super bad.
Oddly, I could still talk, maybe a bit of rasp in my voice but still effectively and fairly easily. (Again, about thirty minutes with tiny breaks)
Seriously when the exhaustion hits, it hits H A R D
Mouth kinda hurts too tbh
Heart beats pretty rapidly during and shortly after
My head hurts
Both hurts and helps to cough
Update an hour later: slightly hurts throat to talk
Moral of the story:
Don’t scream so much that you exhaust yourself,
Make your whumpee scream to the whumpers content

exhaustion whump
literally the best thing ever
A enemy soldier trying to fight back but too weak and hurt to do anything but squirm or flinch as they are captured. Roughly with carelessness for their useless struggles or gently understanding that they can’t do any harm in this state.
hanging from ropes. When they are released they flop into the ground, unable to support themselves.
a defiant whumpee looking up with fear and exhaustion. Just weakly glaring and twitching away from whumpers hands.
being pinned to the ground by someone much stronger and more skilled than them. Giving up and stopping struggling because what’s the point? It’s not like they can win this fight.
A soldier dragging themselves to their feet. Bone tired and shaking but too stubborn to give up.

this is your weekly reminder to work your whumpee to the bone. let their knees give out from sleep deprivation. have them collapse into the arms of a stunned caretaker, weak and held up at the elbows, trying to lift their head from the caretaker's shoulder with a shuddering breath and a mumbled apology. leave them helpless and with no other choice but to trust.

Whumpuary 2024 Day 6
6. (Jan 11-12) Exhaustion / Blindfolded / Old Injuries
cw reluctant whumper, exhaustion, blood loss, vampire whumper, human whumpee, scars, intimate whumper
Whumpee stood in front of the mirror, head tilted to the side as their fingers traced the bite marks going down their neck. They were in various stages of healing—some had faded to white scars, others were bruised and scabbing, and the most recent one was still an aggravated red. If Whumpee scratched at it, it would start bleeding again easily.
“You okay?”
They glanced up quickly. “I didn’t hear you come in.”
Whumper shrugged, eyes locking with theirs in the mirror. “Perks of being a creature of the night, I suppose. Very sneaky.”
“Right,” Whumpee said with a chuckle.
A moment of silence passed, with both of their gazes drifting to Whumpee’s neck. Most of the marks were concentrated there, but others were hidden by Whumpee’s clothes. Their wrists, the inside of their elbow, their thighs.
“You look tired,” Whumper pointed out.
“I’m fine.” The constant blood loss left them exhausted and perpetually dizzy, but it really was fine. Whumper worried too much.
They frowned, closing the distance between them and Whumpee. Whumper kissed their neck gently, lips fitting over one of the older bites. “I wish they didn’t scar so much.”
“I don’t mind,” Whumpee muttered. “I like the reminders of you. Knowing that I can give you what you need, instead of letting you worry about where your next meal is coming from. Or hurting someone who doesn’t want this.”
Whumper nodded slightly, eyes meeting theirs in the mirror. “We can’t keep doing this forever, though. Someday I'm gonna take too much, and then I don’t know what I'd do with myself.”
Whumpee took in their own reflection—the pallid skin, distant eyes and dark circles, thin frame—and wondered if that day was very far in the future.

slightly hyper-specific trope but i totally adore sedative whump with a distressed whumpee. like. okay listen.
whumpee is in a super high stress situation, but they need to be subdued for whatever reason. personally, my mind goes to a whumpee being arrested or taken by the authorities while freaking out for whatever reasons, and they can’t get whumpee to calm down and stop thrashing against the restraints. cue whumpee being stuck with a needle filled with some kind of sedative or relaxant. whumpee’s panicked screams and gasps and struggling slowly start to lessen as they realize how heavy their eyelids are and how fuzzy their head feels. they blink more frequently, trying to clear their hazy vision. their speech becomes more slurred and garbled, and they aren’t even sure if they’re getting the words out. they’re still fighting against whoever is holding them down, but they are so uncoordinated that they can hardly do anything as hands guide them to wherever they needed to go in the first place. after a few more moments, their head begins lolling to the side and their eyes become impossible to keep open as they lose the fight against sleep that their body is pulling them under.
ugh! (˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ ) just something about a whumpee unable to fight against their own body’s call for unconsciousness makes me insane and i love it so much.

Magic Whumpee needing to perform a huge spell for whatever reason and it requiring a significant amount of life force. It starts to take a toll on them, starting to sway and lose their balance — yet never stopping.
Caretaker sees them continuously becoming more and more unstable. As Whumpee stumbles backwards, Caretaker reaches out to steady them, placing a hand on their shoulder and one on their arm.
Even as blood slips from their nose, Whumpee continues the spell, but nods their thanks and reassurance to their worried Caretaker.

That moment when Caretaker just can't take it anymore. Whumpee has been rescued and will not rest no matter how much Caretaker pleads. They slip a little something into Whumpee's evening tea, just something that would force them to get some sleep.
But as they watch Whumpee slowly drift off to sleep, curled up on the couch, Caretaker steps outside to get some air. Breathe. Because thank all the gods Whumpee is finally sleeping. They don't hear the footsteps behind them and Whumper wrenches a hand into their hair, slamming their head against the banister. And they too drift off to sleep.

Imagining a whumpee who was caught in some sort of disaster (building collapse, fire, vehicle crash, etc.) and was non-fatally injured, but then exacerbated their injuries by working tirelessly to free other people from debris and get them to safety. So by the time caretaker shows up, whumpee just stumbles over to them and collapses into their arms.

Imagine your Whumpee so beaten and bone-tired exhausted that they can’t even process what’s happening around them anymore - eyes bleary and breath ragged, just wanting everything to stop hurting.

Whumpee fought at the end of their chain while whumper stood just out of reach. Neither said a word while whumpee struggled in rage.
They were flooded with adrenaline; but slowly they degenerated to weak pulling and tired disgruntles. They sank to their knees out of breath; their chained wrists were bruised blue and one looked broken.
"Good, I'm glad you got that out of your system." Whumper smiled, walking within the chain length and crouched in front of them.
"Now the fun can begin."

Sleep deprivation
You don’t need to make your whumpees stay up forever. Just, make sure they only sleep for a few hours at a time. Make them sleep in uncomfortable positions or places so the sleep isn’t meaningful. Scare them awake with loud noises. Barr them from napping. Make it so they’re only allowed to sleep when they’re in bed with you, then don’t sleep in bed so they’re stuck. Sleep deprive your whumpees, but let ‘em get just enough sleep to stay slightly sane. Keep ‘em in that exhausted, weakened, sluggish state but don’t let delirium set in. They’re more fun when they’re sane.
Based off my absolutely horrible sleep deprivation and exhaustion. If I have to deal with this, so do the whumpees.

“You need to rest.”
“I can rest when I’m dead.”
“You’ll be dead soon if you don’t put the weapon down and go rest.
“I’m training-”
“You’ve trained enough. Now lie down before I pick you up and throw you in the bed myself.”

exhausted leader whumpee leaning their forehead against the wall, taking deep and unsteady breaths to force away the dizziness. feverish but leading regardless, directing their team with quiet orders. a pause between phrases to gasp in another breath, leaving them feeling more faint than before. but their team needs them. they can rest once everyone is safe, but for now, they close their eyes to focus, steady their trembling fingers, and lead their family to safety.

Whump where the character isn’t necessarily in pain; instead, they’re bone-tired and too weak to lift themselves out of the supine position they’re found in. A kind stranger picks them up, and when they do, Whumpee flops over like a rag doll in their arms, feeling to the stranger more like a corpse than a living person. Unlike a corpse, however, their skin is sickeningly hot to the touch. By the time the stranger loads them onto their wagon to drive to the town doctor, their shirt is soaked through with Whumpee’s sweat.
