Why Apollo actually didn't have beef with Odysseus (spoiler for the Wisdom Saga)
Heads up, fellas: The rambling below contains spoiler for Epic the Wisdom Saga!
As we may know, in God Games, Athena needed to convince half of the Olympian council to approve Odysseus' release from Calypso's island. Apollo is the first god Athena encountered and the easiest for her to convince.
Now, why is that? Why does Apollo's beef with Odysseus seem way too easy to rebuke? He barely has any connection with the Sirens aside from the catchy songs, so why did he use them to "accuse" Odysseus (heavy on the quote-unquote because he barely even tried) and not the sacking of Troy, the murder of Astyanax, or the violation of the cows?
Here's my theory: Apollo has no real grudges against Odysseus. Apollo has every reason to be mad with the mentioned instances, but he is also the god of reason and rationality and knows there is no point in being angry.
First, as far as I know, Odysseus had not directly offended Apollo in the Trojan War or during his journey home. Apollo won't just harm anyone, he'd only take retribution against those who disrespected him greatly.
Second, the City of Troy had always been destined to fall so if it wasn't for Odysseus' wooden horse, someone else would have caused its demise. Apollo can't fault Odysseus for being part of the city's inevitable destiny.
Third, Apollo should be mad at Odysseus for killing an infant because he's the protector of the young, right? Well, in The Horse and The Infant, it was Zeus who told Odysseus that Astyanax was prophesied to take revenge on the Greek kings when he grew up, and he had to kill the infant to prevent that. Apollo is not one to go against his father's decree, so he wouldn't be mad at Odysseus for following suit.
(And if you look from a mythological standpoint, if Astyanax actually grew up to cause destruction to the Trojan War survivors, imagine how many sons and daughters of the Greek kings would suffer because the prophesied one was spared.)
Finally, why was he not mad with the cow thing??? Simple!
The cows were not even Apollo's, but Helios'. Apollo already gave his cows to Hermes in exchange for the lyre. So when Odysseus' crew killed the cows, they offended Helios, not Apollo. Of course, you could say Apollo should be mad on Helios' behalf, but that'll take us to point 2...
The crew killed the cows while Odysseus begged them to not. Odysseus didn't commit the crime or enable it, so he was in the clear. And lastly...
Odysseus' crew were already punished by death and Odysseus was left drifting in the sea and stuck on Calypso's island for seven years to the point of driven insane, so whatever "association" he could possibly have with the violation of the cows should be paid enough.
All that aside, Apollo has little to no beef with Odysseus and only makes up a flimsy "reason" to be mad out of obligation. He didn't care about bringing justice to Athena's favorite mortal, he probably only wanted to have fun in the family drama because hey, how often do you get to see your oldest sister asking for a favor from your King-god father?

I think my favorite thing about Epic’s creator and cast (and particularly about Jay) is that as the project grows, they’re embracing how fans of this media typically interact with that media. Choosing to do lyric videos, partnering with artists for official animatics (previously reserved for fandom spaces only), doing livestreams, embracing the parts that fans end up liking the most instead of rejecting them. It feels like Jay and all of the cast/creators truly understand their audience and how to promote this project in a way that speaks to that audience. Truly fantastic work.

Going to the beach for a few days so here's a couple of things I'll be on the lookout for:
Scary water
My real wife ( she knows I'm not actually scared of the water )
My daughter ( do I even have one ? Not sure)
People suffering trying to float the whole time ( I can take the suffering from them)
People on the run from , I don't know , Poseidon ?
The lair of Scylla ( but I'm broke so I don't really know if I can pay the cost)
Shy and terrified sailors who'd die for me but I can't let them stay dry
Thunderstorms
Places Poseidon is scared to roam ( I wanna sail there, it feels like a good idea )
Sirens giving out directions to evade the god of the sea ( I kinda have a beef with him, you don't want to know)
Greeks who reek of false righteousness ( I'm not even going to Greece but I just hate those people )

Eddie posts a Tiktok really early in the morning like, “The cool thing about having a service dog is that even if you’re not the person they’re servicing, they will comfort you when you are distressed or say, having a nightmare.”
Eddie moves the camera back a little so you can see Ozzy draped on top of him asleep, “Ozzy does this by laying on you. Which is good for Steve because Steve, uh, wasn’t held a lot as a child and was very touch-starved so this is comforting for him. I, on the other hand….have to piss.”
Eddie pokes Ozzy and he doesn’t move or wake up at all. That dog is in a deep sleep. Eddie just sighs, “Am I an asshole if I wake the dog up? Feels like that makes me an asshole.”

"Calypso is just dumb in love--" She knows EXACTLY what she is doing, do not baby her (TW: Suicide mentioned)
(While this post is about Calypso's neglectful love for Odysseus in Epic The Musical, I will not tackle the controversy of whether or not Calypso had sexually assaulted Odysseus. This is a topic I am not comfortable nor well-versed in, so I will let others discuss it.)
There's being obliviously in love and there's being unable to take no for an answer and overly selfish to the point of dismissing the well-being of your object of affection.
Oh you think I'm over exaggeration?
Exhibit A: Right after Odysseus told her he was married, Calypso called him her "love for life" and wanted to drag him to bed. If this is a man wanting to bed a woman after she'd shown uncomfortableness or said she was married, we wouldn't have this conversation.
Exhibit B: Calypso did not care how Odysseus feel even when he had expressed that he wanted to leave though words and in the animatic. You can be stuck up in your own feelings but it's a step too far to trap your crush with you.
Exhibit C: Athena confirmed Calypso trapped Odysseus against his will for SEVEN YEARS and it contributed to his mental breakdown and intention to jump off the ledge.
This is your innocently-in-love Calypso? So sweet and loving that the man stuck with her would rather die than continue staying with her - and it's not like she could not see that.
After seven years together, unless she is a different kind of blind and stupid, there was no way Calypso didn't know how broken Odysseus became. But she wanted him more than she loved him. She did not want him to die or return home - even though that is want he wished for - because she would be sad, not because she cared for him.
Exhibit D: Not Sorry For Loving You explain why Calypso is like this, but people are too caught up in her self-pitying that they overlook how selfish she actually is in here. I can just post the whole song here because the evidence is littered all over it. You can take another listen or read the lyrics yourself.
The whole song is only about what Calypso want from the relationship. It's all about her longing for connections, her needing Odysseus to love her, her sadness over the end of their "romance" - but never once did she ever consider how Odysseus feel about their departure. Least she could do is wishing him a good journey or having some kind of parting words, but in the end Calypso just blamed him for not returning her love and "making" her having to do what she did (it's like saying "hitting you hurt me more")
And she's not once sorry for what she did.
In case I'm not being clear enough:
CALYPSO KNEW SHE IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY ODYSSEUS WANTED TO DIE, BUT SHE WASN'T SORRY FOR THAT.

doodles from after the stream

(this is my first time drawing any of them but I think most of them turned out ok)
let me just say I LOVE THIS NEW SAGGAGAAGGAGAGAG
I FEEL LIKE ALL INTRICATE MELODIES AND INSTRUMENTS JAY USES TO SYMBOLIZE STUFF JUST WAS USED PERFECTLY AND I FEEL LIKE THEY WERE KIND OF LEADING UP TO THIS SAGA TO ALL BE USED BEAUTIFULLY
Also I knew Athena would be back, but I forgot just how much I truly live her voice also also I DIDNT KNOW SHE WAS GOING TO DIE OR WHATEVER HAPPENED AT THE END OF THE SAGA LIKE WHAT???? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHES PROBABLY DEAD???????
I got to say I love love in paradise as that song is just AMAZING THROUGH AND THROUGH also CONNECT BACK TO MY PREVIOUS POINT hearing Calypso say open arms to Odysseus was terrifying, she does NOT get Polites privileges, TO ANOTHER POINT THAT'S CONNECTED ENOUGH TO THIS I love how jay kind of showed Telemachus's character/ added more parallels by using the open arms melody as he spoke to Athena justSNJEKDVEUMSBDYHEHEGGEKEK
