Oo could I request romantic Vees with a reader who's this famous singer/idol in Hell? (Think, way more than Fizzarolli-level famous)
Valentino | Velvette | Vox [Romantic]
In which you are one of the most popular performance artists in all of hell. Reader is female.
Your name was more than just 'known'; it was plastered along buildings and chanted by millions
He was always scouting for personalities, following trends in people to see who he could drag down into his vicing grip
But you were untouchable, the first thing he couldn't command to their knees before him
Even so, if Val wanted to meet you, he could, and it was extremely new to the overlord to have to go out of his way to meet someone, but he felt it was worth it
He claims it was because you had possible talent, but those closest to him know he had a bit of a celebrity crush
Valentino is not one to be nervous; he would be direct when telling you that he wanted you, again and again, until you eventually granted him at least one night out, just the two of you
Once he has his chance, he'll pull out every stop just to hear you say that you'd like to see him again
He gets so distracted with you that he forgets the part about getting you into his company, eventually brushing it off by saying you 'didn't suit what he was looking for'
Avoiding being under his contract meant he could never command you, which meant he never had anything to be angry with you about
According to him, you were a role model for all the demons he owned
Famous stars require famous stylists, and who better than Velvette?
You'd actually reached out to her personally, since a lot of her work inspired your current stylists, and you wanted an upgrade for your tour of hell
Idol's like you were the exact thing people like Velvette dreamed of having in their portfolio, and she insisted on meeting you so she could see what you were looking for
In all her years, she'd never met an idol so genuine—most were snobbish, greedy, or just told her to 'do whatever'
You came in with photos of things you liked, hell, even fabrics you preferred, and a set list of what your songs would look like in order
She was already in love
You get her personal creations, and she insists on being the one to tailor you herself
" Only the best for the best, right? "
She can feel her bitchy attitude melt, and though she gets extremely bothered when anyone interrupts your sessions together, you ground her
It's not long before you two become official, and while she can't follow you into the deeper rings of hell, she will always be sure to watch your performances in the background while she works
She constantly calls you 'doll', because she's always dressing you up
Influences, aristocrats, idols—none of it was new to the king of social media
Everyone contacted him for their social management, or his team, at least
He didn't do much of the personal work himself; he had far too much on his plate, but he always checked on who was requesting his services
Mostly for the ego boost, knowing the image of so many self-proclaimed "stars'' relied on him
But there was also a list of people he wanted to work for, a list that brought his ego back down and told him he hadn't met his goals yet and had to try harder
You were at the very top
He'd seen a plethora of your performances recorded and reuploaded: best takes, most underrated performances, and unforgettable sets
But he'd never had the chance to see you live until he got a PR package regarding your newest album release
Him? It was certainly interesting to...no shot, you sent him hidden tickets for 'friends only'
He is not fangirling except maybe a bit; he's already cleared his schedule that evening so he can get there and making sure his outfit is cleaned up and ready
Your performance was out of this world, and he is beyond pleased when he is invited backstage to speak with you
There you were, taking off your earrings in your dressing room, smiling at him as if you were old friends
" How was the performance? I'm so glad you came. "
For a moment, hes almost worried you have the wrong person; he seems uncertain of what to say until you continue
" I heard you are hard to win over, so I figured I'd go all out before I ask if you'd consider running my new album compaigne? "
He acts cool, but when he gets home that evening, he is pumping his fist in the air and screaming
Author's Note - I was thinking lilith-level famous, you are THAT girl... Thank you for requesting! I went for a fem! reader because it was no specified

fanny price DOES get a great happy ending, fight me
like okay no, fanny does not successfully tame the Rake and reform him into a sexy sexy faithful husband. yes, we could argue all day about whether edmund bertram is underrated or a soggy biscuit of a man, but that fact is ultimately IRRELEVANT. HE is irrelevant except as like. a piece of the broader picture the ending of mansfield park only sucks if you're viewing it from the extremely narrow and shallow lens of like: the modern capital R romance, where the woman's happily-ever-after is defined by her attaining the Ideal/Most Desirable Man™. but that's not what the novel is about!
fanny price's happy ending is BEING PROVEN RIGHT AND HER WORTH ACKNOWLEDGED after putting up with YEARS of fucking bullshit despite CONSTANTLY being a better judge of character, of morals, of good sense, than literally ANYONE ELSE AROUND HER. fanny price's happy ending is her spending months going 'HMM I"M GETTING BAD VIBES' and everyone saying 'stfu fanny you don't know shit' and at the end of the novel she gets to watch everyone else either blows up their entire life as a result of ignoring The Vibes, or fall over her trying to apologize because HOLY SHIT FANNY WHY DID WE NOT LISTEN TO YOU ABOUT THOSE VIBES and people being like WE TOOK YOU SO FUCKING FOR GRANTED WE FUCKED UP'
and she is like: yes, I know this, and finally everyone else does too, and that is literally all i have ever wanted in life fanny price's happy ending is people apologizing and acknowledging her worth fanny price's happy ending is basically the equivalent of her sitting there smiling with genteel energy while her inner self is performing this dance
and honestly: i love that for her
#mansfield park#jane austen#fanny price#are you ever like: i need to go to bed early#but i need to yell at the internet about mansfield park more

Peter Lorre (The Maltese Falcon, Arsenic and Old Lace, Casablanca)—to me he DEFINES scrungle hes the first person i think of every time the term comes up! i want to fold him up like a paper accordion and put him in my pocket. guy that spawned a million voice artists and impersonators. they made a ghost version of him for halloween cereal staple boo berry. bewitched by his nervous mania and tooth gap <3 (for the purposes of propaganda im linking a photo from his extremely short appearance in muscle beach party bc ive been obsessed w it for years and i couldnt find any video for it :/ anyway imagine youre frankie avalon spending the whole movie battling a bodybuilder faction thats taking over your beach and your girl and then you find out this fucking guy is their mastermind mystery leader and hes stronger than all the bodybuilders combined. like Huh. What.)
Tony Randall (Lover Come Back, Pillow Talk)—he's SO TIRED he's three-wheeling ALL THE TIME on rock and doris's shenanigans and he is always SMALL. PATHETIC. INHERENTLY FILLED WITH ENNUI. i feel like all these 60s comedies are very Straight Laced and Heterosexual and yet somehow tony randall is always there having the worst day ever.
This is round 1 of the contest. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. If you're confused on what a scrungle is, or any of the rules of the contest, click here.
[additional submitted propaganda + scrungly videos under the cut]
Peter Lorre

he's pretty much the archetype of the scrungly little guy. the blueprint. the example by which all other scrungly little guys are judged
The perfect sniveling character actor, “scrungly” is the first word that comes to mind when I think of him.
The entire point of his iconic role in Casablanca (apart from introducing the central plot mcguffin) was to be LITTLE and SCRUNGLY to make Bogie look even cooler. And Maggot in Corpse Bride - the littlest scrungliest guy in that film - was a parody of him.
I think Arsenic and Old Lace is his quintessential "scrungly" performance. He's so put-upon and tired...all he wants is sleep and some schnapps! I love the way his shoulders fall slowly when he thinks he's caught (he looks like a sad puppy!), only to gleefully sprint out the door when he realizes how dumb those police officers are.
youtube
Between his big eyes, wheezy laugh, short stature, and expressive faces, Peter Lorre achieved icon status as the scrungliest, littlest guy in Hollywood. His scrungly little guy energy was often contrasted with the more typical masculinity of the leading man, but whether this contrast was meant to make him seem especially sinister, comedic, or pathetic, it always left an unforgettable impression!
I'm sure somebody else has already submitted him (if not then ???) but he's a cute kind of scrungly little guy. He's got a distinctive nasal voice with an accent that is instantly recognizable and often imitated. His later horror movies are so much fun, especially when he's playing off of Vincent Price. He's so good at being unhinged, creepy, or manic, but also pathetic and sympathetic.
youtube
Classic scrungly hollywood golden age little guy who was friends with Humphrey Bogart and still played some of the wettest most sniveling characters ever committed to celluloid (complimentary) there is a deep despair and darkness in many of his characters that enhances his scrungly
youtube
To be clear, I am one of those people who will argue that Lorre is one of the most underrated film actors, but the POINT is that he's also just a scrungly delight. A delightfully pocket-sized man. Somehow endearing even when he is being actively amoral (see esp. Casablanca. "I found myself much more reasonable!") The faces he makes while doing the Russian cossack dance with a butter knife between his teeth in Silk Stockings make me laugh just thinking about them.
Wikipedia described his typical characters as "timidly devious", lots of weird little villains and evil sidekicks that are pretty horrifying but still manage to be sort of pathetic and the very definition of "poor little meow meow". His look and voice and mannerisms are so iconic they're still imitated
Cartoons for the next century have and will continue to include Peter Lorre-esque characters when needed to up the scrunge factor (see Bugs Bunny and so many more).
[editor's note on below link: I'm not actually sure how many of these characters are directly influenced by Peter Lorre, so take with a grain of salt. tw for suicide.]
The poster boy for Scrungly. Everyone who wants to draw a scrungly guy draws Peter Lorre. Gomez Addams of The Addams Family was based on him

Tony Randall
"you had everything going for you! poverty!! squalor!!!!" "girls again!!! what's this obSESSion you have with giRLS???"

The utter brilliance of Castlevania: Nocturne S1 (and the fucking pox of right-wing YouTubers)
I just rewatched Castelvania: Nocturne's first season, and it's so fucking excellent. Upon first viewing, I already thought it was probably the second-best season of animated Castlevania, but now? I think it's probably the best one.
The character relationships offer so much drama and emotion. The dialogue is both clever/witty AND moving. The directing of the action sequences has always been top-tier on this show, but the vocal performances make them even more engaging and involving. The way they've infused historical context into the story is absolutely brilliant.
Some of the weird story decisions RE: Dracula at the end of the first series' fourth season (not unsatisfying decisions, mind you, but still just... bizarre, if you're adapting this franchise) really stuck the writers in a weird position as far as how to move forward. I could think of maybe three solid possibilities: one which would undermine the ending of S4 completely, one which would require a HUGE leap forward into the modern day, and the third? Is basically what they did.
Bringing in Erzebet Bathory, the primary antagonist of Castlevania: Bloodlines, was certainly a valid approach for how to deal with the Dracula situation. Applying her to the Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night era is surprising, but not terribly so; it's not like her historical counterpart didn't already exist. I have some qualms with HOW they did this (why is she Russian now instead of Hungarian.... ?), but there's no denying that she serves as an effective antagonist.
Look at that; that's literally Maria's design in "Nocturne" right there.
As a fan of the games, this is obviously a different world but still an extremely familiar one. Seasons 3 and 4 of the first series felt like we were drifting farther and farther away from our roots in the games, but Nocturne brings us closer to that inspiration again. Richter and Maria look like they stepped right out of the PSP's "Dracula X Chronicles," with their costumes nearly identical... though of course, Richter eventually adds and embraces the headband from his original "Rondo" design. Maria is just a handful of years older than she is in Rondo/Dracula X Chronicles, allowing her to be far less of the out-of-place childish cartoon character that she comes off as in Rondo (or Castlevania Judgment, for that matter). I realize that was the POINT of her character in Rondo — to feel like she invaded from a totally different series — but the writers do a great job bringing her in line with the tone and characters of the animated series and overall franchise in Nocturne. The characters' powers and abilities are very much based in the games; we even get an (incredibly rousing!) rendition of "Divine Bloodlines" when Richter pulls off a "Grand Cross"-style magical attack for the first time in his life. It's exhilarating. And that's even without me getting into how Richter uses his triple-knife throw, or how we get the lore of the woefully underrated "Harmony of Dissonance" rolled into this show when a certain character makes a surprise appearance (to my immense delight).
Regarding the original four seasons... "I'm going to eat your soul, shit it out and and use it to smother your fucking girlfriend" was not the kind of dialogue I expected to hear from DEATH, of all people.
There are times in the original four-season run when it feels like it's trying a little too hard to be edgy and grimdark—times when the excessive gore and the insane use of profanity feels like it's screaming "I AM AN ADULT ANIMATED SERIES" in a way that's undermining its best qualities. But Castlevania: Nocturne is too confident to fall into such traps. The gore is there, the profanity is present, but it's only in service of exciting action, consistent characterization, and powerful storytelling; no lingering still shots of blood-spattered cribs for shock value are necessary. It's just a smash from start to finish, and after each episode, I find myself pondering the implications of certain lines and stories — thinking about the goddamn philosophical underpinnings of this animated show based on video games.
Nocturne is a prime example of how and why we're in a golden age of video game adaptions right now. This thing is BEGGING for a deep dive into its world, its lore, and its characters' worldviews. It's the kind of thing that would make for killer YouTube essays exploring all of its facets, because there is just SO MUCH here.
So when I go onto YouTube, and I only find one video that even says "It's not that bad" amidst a goddamned SEA of "This show's writing is shit and this series is fucking woke trash"??? That's when I know WE HAVE FAILED AS A FUCKING SPECIES.
These fucking right-wing YouTube dudebros are ruining our ability to think logically, they are MURDERING our media literacy. They are an absolute cancer. The fact that we don't have strong counterpoints out there against them is a crime; the right-wing grifters have totally conquered the algorithm.
I wish I had the skill or knowledge or even TIME to make videos of my own.
Fucking ugh.
#castlevania#netflix castlevania#castlevania nocturne#castlevania: nocturne#youtube#youtubers#.....it does drive me kind of crazy that the animated Castlevania shows keep insisting on using the imperial measurement system though???#that wouldn't even have existed yet!!!

Val Kilmer, Rest In Peace ...
Gods ... we've lost another one, and this is another one that REALLY HURTS. He'd been going through a lot over the past few years, and he was having a really hard time of it, but he never gave up hope, he never stopped being who he was even when things were at their worst. The man was a bloody LEGEND and one of the all-time great cinematic comeback kings. We've lost one of the REAL ONES.
I first came across Val Kilmer when he was still coming up, before he really got his big break, back when he was still known mostly as a hadnsome young man with a great sense of humour in comedies like Top Secret! But it was his role as Chris Knight, the irreverant scientific genius at the heart of Martha Coolidge's criminal overlooked screwball comedy Real Genius, that I REALLY fell in love with his cocky charm. Well, this and, of course ...
MADMARTIGAN!!! Yeah, I was a kid, and I LOVED big, loud and sometimes kind of dumb fantasy action adventures, and there was SO MUCH adorable roguish swagger in this high fantasy Han Solo clone from Ron Howard's wildly imaginative cinematic adventure Willow that OF COURSE he immediately began to live rent free in my head.
And then, FINALLY, I saw Top Gun. US Naval aviator Lieutenant Tom Kazansky, better known by his extremely apt callsign "Iceman", was, quite rightly, one of THE COOLEST CHARACTERS he ever got to play. This single role QUITE RIGHTLY turned him into a bona fide SUPERSTAR, and for several years he could do no wrong, becoming one of the most rightly IN-DEMAND young superstar actors of the late 80s and the 90s.

A lot of the stuff he got was fluff, pure blockbuster pretty boy roles, but every once in a while he was land something with genuine WEIGHT, like his phenomenal lead role in Michael Apted's powerful thriller Thunderheart, in which he played an FBI agent coming to terms with his long-buried Native American heritage ...

Oliver Stone's controversial but undoubtedly impressive biopic The Doors, in which he was truly magnificent as ill-fated rock icon Jim Morrison ...
Tombstone, one of my very favourite westerns OF ALL TIME, in which he effortlessly stole the entire film in probably THE VERY BEST performance of his entire career as the complicated ailing gunfighter Doc Holliday ...

Irish engineer Colonel John Henry Patterson, the man who went to Africa to build a bridge and killed two man-eating lions in the criminally underrated, more-than-a-little historically inaccurate but still great period man-against-nature survival thriller The Ghost & the Darkness ...
A truly fucking LEGENDARY turn as troubled bank robber Chris Shiherlis in Michael Mann's stone cold CLASSIC crime thriller Heat ...
And he even got to fulfill a lifelong dream of getting to play Batman ... although that didn't go QUITE how he would have liked in the end ... His career took a slump for a time in the late 90s, but by 2002 he started to see something of a renaissance as he started cherry-picking more interesting and challenging character roles in smaller, more high quality films which found particular respect for more discerning audiences.
Like retired US marine-turned-SOCOM operator/trainer John Scott in David Mamet's incendiary suspense thriller Spartan ...

Meth addict Danny Parker, caught up in the middle of an impromptu murder investigation in The Salton Sea, an early, pre-big break offering from Disturbia director DJ Caruso ...
And, best of all, the phenomenally subversive, hillariously sharp-witted role of acerbic LA private investigator "Gay" Perry Van Shrike in writer-director Shane Black's massively beloved black comedy cult classic Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
In later years, a second career slump and subsequent burgeoning health problems saw his withdrawal from the public eye once more, complications from throat cancer led to an essential forced retirement from acting. With the esception of a scattering of smaller roles and an incredibly moving and fascinating documentary entitled Val in 2021, with his son Jack Kilmer narrating his own words, his career officially came to an end in 2022 when he returned to the role of Iceman in a cameo in Joseph Kosinski's blockbuster sequel Top Gun: Maverick. It was a fitting farewell to the character, and a powerful swansong for a mighty actor in his own right.
Legendary film critic Roger Ebert once called Kilmer "the most unsung leading man of his generation". Truer words have never been spoken. "Ice is gone", Maverick is told at one point in the sequel. Maybe so, but he'll NEVER be forgotten.
Val Edward Kilmer, December 31, 1959 - April 1, 2025. Rest in peace.

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner hardtop model failed to sell at auction recently with its owner refusing to part with it for just $37,440. The car has undergone two major refurbishments, one in the 1990s and another one more recently in July of this year.
The first-generation Plymouth Road Runner was cool right out of the gate. This was a performance vehicle, which is why all of its original engine options were extremely potent. You had the “entry-level” 383 ci V8 with its 335 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque, which as far as base engines go, was no pushover.
Then came the 426 Hemi V8 (chronologically), followed by the so-called 440 Six-Pack (or Six-Barrel) – bigger displacement, less power, same torque; compared to the Hemi. What stood out to most people was that the 440 Six-Pack was more affordable than the Hemi and it excelled in terms of mid-range and torque.
It produced its 490 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm, whereas the Hemi wanted you to push all the way to 4,000 rpm for the same grunt. Now, the 440 unit was officially rated at 390 hp, but a lot of people believe that number to be underrated. It’s worth mentioning.
This particular Road Runner started off with a 383 ci V8 under the hood but would later receive the 440 ci V8 with a trio of two-barrel carburetors. Originally, it had a Limelight Metallic exterior with white longitudinal stripes but was repainted yellow during refurbishment.
Other current visual highlights include the black fiberglass lift-off hood, Road Runner graphics, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, chrome exhaust outlets, plus a set of black H-series-style 15” wheels with 235/60 front and 295/50 rear Diamond Back red-line tires.
Moving on to the interior, that’s where you’ll find the black vinyl front bucket seats and rear bench, a color-coordinated dashboard, the Hurst shift

• Elvis at the Houston Astrodome - 1970 •
I fell down a rabbit hole recently researching the Houston Astrodome shows of 1970 because, in general, Elvis in 1970 is a huge hyperfixation for me, so please enjoy my little info dump ~

Elvis' Las Vegas residency of January/February had just ended on February 23rd and almost immediately left for Houston, TX, on February 25th, flying on Kirk Kerkorian's private jet. There at the airport, he would have a press conference before checking in at the Astroworld Hotel.
These were his first shows outside of Vegas since 1961, and it seems like from several accounts, Elvis was pretty nervous and worried about what the turnout would be. On top of that, during rehearsals, he ran into several issues with sound and accoustics due to the size of the arena.
The first show (a matinee performance) happened on Friday, February 27th, and it was the first of two shows to happen that day. Elvis wore the green tapestry jumpsuit and was driven in on a jeep around the arena before appearing on stage. He was acommpanied by the Sweet Inspirations, the Imperials, and the rest of his TCB band that had been established in Vegas. Not present, however, was an orchestra, which is my first time ever seeing that happen during any of his concerts in 1969 - 1977.
The matinee show persisted with all the sound issues that Elvis suspected it would, and unfortunately, it only drew in a crowd of 16,708 people (with 4,000 being personal guests of Elvis and the Colonel.) This left Elvis feeling extremely upset after the show:
“He went back to the hotel… and lay down on the bed. ‘Well, that’s it. I guess I just don’t have it anymore,’ he said. Even the usually imperturbable Colonel seemed upset. After he got up from his nap, Elvis shook his head and said, “Well, I guess I just can’t bring it in like I used to.” - Careless Love (by Peter Guralnick)
But things quickly turned around during the evening show with an attendance of 36,299 people, a record-breaking number for the rodeo. The sound was also improved, and Elvis' nerves seemed to subside, which resulted in a more powerful and well paced performance.
After six performances between February 27th - March 1st, Elvis drew in more than 200,000 people, proving that he still had the star power and the fame to pull in a general audience of fans. He would continue that momentum through the rest of 1970, and after his next Las Vegas residency in August, he would go on his first proper tour around the country in September. ✨️
•
I would absolutely love to hear these shows, but it makes sense why they weren't recorded due to the sound issues they were having. But I'm adding them to the list of concerts that I'm going to see if time travel is ever invented cause his voice in 1970 was simply beautiful and the set lists were actually perfect in my opinion!
Side note: The tapestry suits are super underrated. I love the simplicity of the jumpsuit with the little pop of color along the trim. He wore this particular suit during the February 27th shows, and I just think the green embroidery is stunning. 😍
Don't get me wrong, I adore the flashy jumpsuits from 1971 onward, but the white jumpsuits in 1969/1970 are some of my all-time favorites. ⚡️
📷: February 27th (evening performance) at the Houston Astrodome, Houston, TX.

(Also, in the fanfic I'm writing right now, I spent a few chapters revolving around this show, and yes, that is exactly how I ended up falling down said rabbit hole, and you know what? I can't even be mad about it. I love me some 1970 Elvis. 🥰)

for me, Des was a watch it once and never again type of show. DT was brilliant but idk if I’d call it his best screen performance (I was properly taken up by how horrifying the subject matter was, and I’m not going back to rewatch that performance specifically). However I do direct people there whenever someone says he’s incapable of subtle acting etc etc. and it does show off his range
I found that there was just something so raw and vulnerable about that performance in recovery (everyone’s performances are excellent), and overall think that movie is very underrated
des is the dt performance you show to the nonbelievers dwhgjdhjghwjjd. i feel like on the flipside for the people who are big fans of him absolutely none of them are gonna hold it up and go yeah this is my favorite dt role and rightfully so cuz one of the show's key intents is to not glorify the real life serial killer. props to the creators of the show for succeeding at that
i think "best dt performance" (onscreen or not) is a category that prob gets extremely subjective at a certain point .. like i cried while watching recovery it was so uncomfortably real and raw but i was more personally emotionally impacted by him in einstein and eddington cuz of the queer physicist of it all. objectively i know he's incredible in inside man but i'm also like fuck i hate this stupid fucking show with its stupid smarmy writing i will pretend it isn't real for my sanity. also i think he is insanely good in deadwater fell, criminal uk, and good (and also macbeth...sorry macbeth babygirl for putting you with all those other much more horrible men) because he so realistically sells the sorta contradictory nature and cognitive dissonance of someone trying to live with and justify to themselves how much of a monster they've become. and i feel like that's such a difficult characterization but he nails it so well and in distinct ways across those roles it's really neat. But Also ik this is a very specific thing to love a performance for and i'm like one of five people total that liked deadwater fell lol

Fame < Infamy, underrated Pop-Rock Masterpiece
(that is cronchy ..okay)
y'all... this is a pop song. Pop rock, pop-punk, whatever you want to call it, IT has that pop formula down pact. @^#&@*(&Z!@ SO CATCHY I LOVE THIS SONG
Favorite lyric <3 "I am God's gift, but why would he bless me with Such wit without a conscience equipped"
patrick delivering one of his best vocal performances and pete writing some of his tighest lyrics so far. They came into this studio mad as hell and decided to make fobbie history, HERSTORY actually. this song is so well contained within itself, it has insane replayability, I cannot repeat myself enough that this is a banger.
Just the part in the chrous where it does WHEN IM home alone I just can't stop myselffff AND YOU pull my head so closee volume goes with the truUuuUttHh EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE so freaking good especially the instruments moving along with like the vocals.
FOB doesn't waste a second of this song, its absolutely incredible, and extremely underrated (slightly understandable just bc the rest of ioh is literally perfection as well, its easy to focus more on others sometimes. . . )

This is not a drill! One of my favorite movies is free with ads (or… if you have a decent ad blocker…) on YouTube!
I really absolutely extremely implore people to go watch MirrorMask right now! Right over here: https://youtu.be/kbHgfCwXqVU?si=jzVXaRVJ-TfCt4Xz
youtube
Directed by LEGENDARY artist Dave McKean, written by @neil-gaiman , and produced by Jim Henson Studios, this really is the surreal fantasy movie you’re missing from your life that you need to watch. It is esoteric in the best possible way, I think capturing exactly what it’s like to be in the dreaming world, and a great blend of both practical and cg effects that play so well into your suspension of disbelief. I’m always quite sad this film hasn’t gotten the reception it’s deserved due to how very strange it can be, but I think it’s the perfect movie to share to tumblr audiences haha.
Don’t want to give too much away but for those who want a brief premise, the story surrounds a young family circus performer who wakes up in another world after her mother falls ill, needing to rescue the queen of light who has fallen asleep after a princess of shadows has run away. It’s dark, dreamlike, and elegant, perfect for fans of other Gaiman works like Sandman and Coraline; I was introduced to the movie because I got it in a box set with Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal, so if you like those as well, I’d give this movie a shot!
Please go watch this, it’s one of my absolute favorites and it’s so underrated!
#growing up as a lil neurodivergent kid this movie made itself a home in my brain#pls go watch it waaaaaa#Neil gaiman#dave mckean#mirrormask#Youtube

Oh sweet Naga, Alear is a national treasure. Also Brandon McInnis is EXTREMELY underrated as Male Alear and deserves way more love. I absolutely would not have loved Alear as much as I did without his performance.

Giving Solos Covers to Ateez
PARK SEONGHWA: DISEASE BY LADY GAGA
If there's anyone who could perform a Gaga song perfectly, it's this diva!!!
That aura that radiates off of Seonghwa when he performs is what someone needs to perform ANY song by the queen of pop!!!
Just imagine his siren voice when he's singing his heart out during the bridge!!!
I honestly don't think I need to explain myself with this choice (I say after explaining myself).
KANG YEOSANG: CURE FOR ME BY AURORA & EARTHQUAKE BY JISOO
Yeosang has such a distingue voice, so why not give him songs from artists known for their distingue voices?
Yeosang is someone who you can tell feels a little different from others, but he still would change nothing about himself. Because of that, I think the message of Cure for Me would really stick with Yeosang as well as Atinys.
Yeosang is known for making impossible choreography possible, so why not show off his abilities with more simple dance moves like Earthquake? Bro would be vibing the whole time performing it!
JUNG WOOYOUNG: THE LINE BY TWENTY-ONE PILOTS
Wooyoung probably has the most underrated vocals in Ateez.
His high note in It's You really made me realize the potential he still has as a singer. And giving him a slower song that builds up really could prove his vocal abilities.
I just know he'd eat up that scream!!!! If anyone could make Tyler Joseph proud, it's Jung friggin' Wooyoung!!!
CHOI JONGHO: SYMPHONY BY CLEAN BANDIT FEAT. ZARA LARSSON
No explanation needed.
SONG MINGI: DOOM DADA BY T.O.P.
One deep voiced king paying his respects to the OG deep voice of kpop would truly by ICONIC.
Mingi's deep voice during the chorus would do so many things to Atinys mentally, emotionally, physically, and sexua-
Mingi has the stage presence you would need to perform such a song.
KIM HONGJOONG: LOSE YOURSELF BY EMINEM & PAPER PLANES BY M.I.A.
We've already seen Honjoong rapping Without Me, it's time we let him perform another one of Eminem's best songs.
Honjoong has enough sass to perform Paper Planes.
Paper Planes is controversial, so of course our captain would have a cheeky smile while he was performing.
JEONG YUNHO: TOUCHIN' & MOVIN' BY MOONBYUL
Both have deep but melodious voices.
Yunho is a very upbeat person, so I wanted to give him a very upbeat song (that's also very underrated).
Touchin' & Movin' has such a fun dance that Yunho would totally eat up.
Both are very underrated members with extreme talents!
CHOI SAN: CLOSE TO YOU BY SEUNGMIN & OUT OF MY LEAGUE BY FITZ AND TANTRUMS
Bro is the definition of 'boyfriend material', so why not give him two very boyfriend coded songs!
You can't have San do a cover if it's not goanna be fun and upbeat or meaningful and easy on the ears.
(Wooyoung would love both covers)

#3. Most underrated character in your opinion?
So this one, at least for me, definitely depends on what exactly you’d define as “underrated”.
If we’re talking in terms of popularity, one character that definitely comes in mind to me is Tolkien. Not an unpopular character by any means! Just a personal favorite of mine and one I don’t feel like gets enough love, at least in comparison to some of the other boys!
Nichole is another favorite of mine (like as in, literally in my top 3) that I would love to see more of from this fandom! Again, she’s definitely not unpopular, but I do think she deserves more love!
David Rodriguez is one of my favorite minor characters, and I don’t see him get talked about nearly as much as some of the other minor characters!!
HOWEVER-
If you were to ask me who I think is the most underrated in terms of PERSONALITY?? Yall already KNOW my answer to this is Tweek. I know I’ve gone over this very subject multiple times atp, but I truly do think he is SUCH a complex character with a very strong personality, one that is often glossed over imo. Definitely not an underrated character in terms of popularity as he IS a fan favorite, but when it comes to him as an actual CHARACTER, I feel so much of him gets overlooked. I’m really glad I was able to find this community of people who love him and his character just as much as I do! 🥺
#4. Most overrated character in your opinion?
Tbh…none that I can think of? I like most of the characters, or at least can see the appeal in them, and the ones I don’t either aren’t very popular in the first place.
One of the things I love about this show is how memorable all the characters are, I don’t think any of them are “overrated” because I feel like there’s something to enjoy about most, if not all of them.
I know a lot of people consider Tweek and Craig to be overrated, and as someone who absolutely ADORES both characters, I can see where they’re coming from, as there are fans who do tend to treat them like they’re the ONLY characters in this show. However, both are EXTREMELY memorable and well developed characters in my opinion, who I think deserve every bit of love they get tbh. Not to mention, great rep for the gay community as well!!
You’re allowed to have your opinion on them, but I think it’s silly to complain about them getting a lot of love when that love is VERY much deserved!!!
#5. If you could bring ANY one-shot character back in the entire series, who would it be?

THEM!!! MY GIRLS!!!! THEY DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER 😭😭
I always feel SO bad for Tammy in “the ring” omg. Like imagine performing an explicit act on a guy, getting a bunch of hate for it and feeling ashamed because of it, then finally feeling comfortable enough with your new boyfriend to give it another try and then he fucking DIES??
And the fact that we never see her again after that like to I just need to know how my girl is 😭
And Rebecca was such a cute character, it always made me sad that she was reduced to just a “slut” in the end lmaooo, we never see her again after that either so who knows what happened to her after that.
#6. What is your most crack, crack ship- talking a pairing potentially no one has heard of?
Bit of a disappointing answer probably but I don’t think I have one lmaooo
#7. Favorite adult?
I could be missing some, but here’s some that come to mind (in no particular order)!!

#8. Favorite girl?

NICHOLE!!!
As stayed before, she’s definitely in my top three in terms of favorite characters. Shes such a cutie, I love her!!!
#10. Favorite episode?
Probably a bit of a cliche/boring answer lmao, but I personally really love the post covid specials and bigger, longer, uncut!
Tbh though, there’s a LOT of episodes I’d consider favorites of mine, it’s not letting me link it here but I’ve made a whole list of them in a recent post of mine if you scroll a bit back!
#11. Least favorite episode?
Mr Garrison’s fancy new vagina 😭 not only does it skeeve me out, but the transphobic themes are just…eugh 💀
It does have some funny moments to episode though, I will admit.
This part in particular KILLS me 😭😭😭
#16. Least favorite ship? (Keep it respectful)
I mean, unless we’re counting the obvious ones, like anything with incest, pedophilia, etc, there’s none I can really think of? I’m chill with most ships. Even if I don’t ship it myself, I’m not gonna stop people from enjoying what they like, so go ham!!
#17. Least favorite character?
Okay it’s not letting me include a photo of him but the dad from the elementary school musical episode?? I HATED him, he pissed me off sm omg. Whenever I see that man it’s on-SITE 😭😭😭
#20. Hopes for seasons going forward and specific episode tropes you’d like explored?
Honestly? I just hope to see them go back to the old format of episodes, with the boys getting up to their old shenanigans again. I miss that!
I feel like the show has lost a lot of its whimsy overtime. The newer seasons, while not bad, are just way too meta for me?? Sure, South Park has obviously always had SOME degree of meta/political satire to it, but it’s only ever been PART of the equation. Lately however, it’s gotten to the point where it no longer feels like a parody, just real life, and it just feels so…boring to me. The characters don’t even feel like actual characters half the time, just stand ins for when the creators want to make a point about something or to provide exposition. Even the way they interact with each other now can feel so boring and stale. Of course, I say all this pretty loosely as they absolutely do still have their moments, and there are still absolutely episodes and plotlines and character moments that I feel ARE very well written and enjoyable!! Hell, even some of my FAVORITE episodes come from these seasons!! But compared to a lot of other seasons?? I just don’t really care for these ones, for the most part at least.
The end of obesity special did give me high hopes however. I felt like that was the closest we’ve gotten to a really good classic episode in a while, with a few others before that having come pretty close as well!! The season 27 trailer also gives me high hopes! It definitely seems like they’ve been gradually easing back into the old format with time, so I’m excited to see what they’re going to come up with!!
#21. Favorite background or non-main character?

This was a tough one because I feel like it sorta depends on what your definition of “non-main character” would be? So I just went with characters that appear outside of the boys’ friend group and have had limited appearances/episode focus throughout the series!
#22. TFBW or SOT?
Mannn, that’s a TOUGH one! They’re both great! I think I am a little more biased towards tfbw though, as it was one of the first things that got me into the fandom. I also just enjoy the plot line slightly more! (not to mention all the creek moments we get hehe)
I definitely like tsot better in terms of aesthetic though, the character designs/concepts are sm cooler to me in that game!!
#23. If a new game is in the works, what theme would you like to see? Such as fantasy, superhero, futuristic, or so on?
Hmm, perhaps another superhero themed game? Since we got another fantasy themed one with snow day! It would be cool to see them explore other options too though, instead of just sticking to those themes. Perhaps they could make a game based off of any of the cards we see in phone destroyer! I think any of them could be fun, really! :))
