FOOL MASK (GITM BY @venomous-qwille)

Handbuilt porcelain with slip, overglaze, glaze, and gold lustre accents. Paint and lacquer detailing added post fire. Handsewn fool's cap and bells added post fire.

This mask is a part of a (loosely connected) mask series, all hand-built and fired using a range of different temperatures and techniques.

My favourite mask to date, Fool from Ghost in the Machine by the wonderful @venomous-qwille !! GITM is absolutely incredible and I cannot put into words eloquently how much I adore it and Fool so instead I made this mask! Hi!

My word was this mask a struggle to make. The mask itself is entirely one piece, and entirely porcelain!! That's right, those long thin rays are solid porcelain!! The eyes and tips of the blades are done in 22 carat gold lustre. All colouring save for the black and the satin sections of darker red on the face were done with only slips and underglazes. The red colour was correct without the paint, but I thought a contrast from the rest of the gloss would look nice :)

Made to scale, the mask measures 50.8x60.96cm without the hat, and 50.8x116.84cm with it! (20x24in without hat, 20x46in including hat). He is Large, but turned out absolutely lovely and I send my many many thanks to the kiln gods for producing him unscathed.

going from left to right; harlequin sun has a gold, six pointed jester hat resembling sunrays, with a bell at the end of each point. he's wearing a black mask with a line through it following his crescent. his eyes are simple white dots on a gray-ish sclera. sun has large blue and red ruffles around his neck, with a blue frill under the ruffles. he's wearing a blue, long sleeved shirt covered in alternating red and yellow diamonds, with blue ribbons wrapped around his wrists with a single bell on each. he has a barely visible blue hip drape, that sits on top of his red jester pants. he's hanging off of the carousel pole, and standing leaned over with a bent knee to look at Columbine. his other arm hangs limply at his side.

Columbine themselves has their curly brown hair pulled up into a half-bun, with a crown of white pointsettias behind their bangs. large triangle shaped earrings hang from their ears, and they have long wavy eyelashes with brown eyes, a small amount of blush and brown lipstick. they have brown eyes with large black pupils and a small white dot in the center of each pupil. around their shoulders is a large fur half jacket, held together by a sparkly moon shaped clasp. they have long, fluffy pink sleeves with blue ribbons wrapped around their wrist. while most of columbine's dress is obscured by the wrap, a gold band can be seen underneath, with then flows into their dress skirt. the skirt is blue on the outside, with an inner strip of pink bordered with red ruffles. they're sitting on the carousel animal, with both arms extended. one is held out and the other is resting on moon's face. they have a smile on their face and their head is tilted slightly towards moon while they look over at sun.

the coyote is multiple shades of brown, starting out dark on the back and getting lighter towards the white underbelly and muzzle. the inside of the coyote's fluffy ears are also white. the coyote is standing in a half running pose, with one paw pulled up. each paw is wrapped in flowing red ribbons with two bells on each leg. a red bridle and rein sits on the coyote's face, held together with a star shaped metal piece. the bridle is embroidered with simple green and gold floral patterns. a long golden pole extends from the coyote's shoulders.

pierrot moon is entirely black and white, and he wears a long nightcap with two black puffs on the tail and one at the very tip of the cap. he has large eyelashes and three jester stripes cutting through his black eyes. he has a single white dot in the center of his eyes. he also wears large neck ruffles with fluffy black trim. his shirt resembles a long sleeved pajama shirt, with black trim. his wrist is wrapped in black ribbon. he has a black band around his waist and he wears plain white jester pants. he's looking at Columbine with his hand on top of theirs, holding it to his face. he has one eye closed and he has a large smile on his face with black lipstick over his smile. he's standing mostly behind Columbine, but he's leaning slightly to the side.

Hullo! I’m sending you some questions from your secret Santa as a mod for the DCASS event :D

Question: Hiii do you have some references for your AU? I couldn’t find anything in the ref channel nor on your tumblr (do you have an art tag by any chance?).

Do you have an OC or a persona that you want me to include, or would you be ok with just sun or moon (or both) in a drawing?

I posted some in the references channel tonight but i also have a tag for plass here it's just #plass :) as for art tag it's #lavenart , and my talk tag is usually #talkies

As for the second part, I also posted my persona (Fursona?) reference in the channel tonight but it should be somewhere in the lavenart tag as well. If i had to choose, I would say sum and moon on their own would be fine since I know not everyone might be up to the task of drawing such a complex design, but it's also fine if you do want to draw Oak in any piece you might make as I greatly love it's design.

Also, I hope you are having a wonderful holidays so far! And I'd like to personally thank eyenaku, cero-sleeps, chaoticgouda, enigmatic, dev, all of the event hosters, for hosting such lovely events for the community. They bring great joy to my heart. 🎊

hoiya! can u explain the plot of the anime soul eater please :3

It's basically a spooky horror-action anime, and a pretty good one imo.

The story starts with a young kid named Maka Albarn, who knows nothing about soul eater but has heard a rumor that it involves becoming a soul eater partner (a type of non-human partner for a soul eater, a sort of monster fighter) with one's crush. Her crush at the time is called Death the Kid, and so Maka decides to offer herself to him as his soul eater partner.

Her plan works.

Well, sort of. Death the Kid doesn't want to be a soul eater at all, but Maka is way too happy about becoming a soul eater partner, and tries to trick him into fighting some monsters with her. This, understandably, freaks him out, and so he runs away and Maka runs after him, being really into this whole soul eater gig.

Meanwhile, there is a top-ranked soul eater named Crona Gorgon who has gone through some shit. Crona was originally the twin brother of a guy named Jean, but his soul (basically his mind) got lost, and so his soul got put into Jean's body instead. However, Crona's soul is still floating around the world. Crona's goal is to find and reunite with his brother, but a lot of people in the soul eater world look for souls to put in themselves, and now Crona is being pursued by evil soul eaters and the like. So Crona, whose soul is inhabiting a "head" and is named Rob, is like "maybe i should have a soul eater partner and see if they can protect me." He meets Death the Kid, gets impressed by his badass sword, and asks to be his soul eater partner instead of Maka. The rest of the plot is essentially about their fight against evil soul eaters, robots, etc. while they figure out what the hell is going on with them and Crona's situation.

This all takes place at Death Weiss, a school for soul eaters. The villain of the show, a guy named Death the Kid's dad, is named Lord Death and has, at the start of the show, taken over and militarized Death Weiss. There's a whole evil agenda and this and that but that's the core of it.
