You find yourself lost in the enchanted woods, a dark and treacherous place full of monsters that may eat you and wicked fae that seek to trick you. You must return home before sundown, or you may never get out again.
You come across a cottage with smoke curling from the chimney’s square mouth. You rap upon the door, fear creeping along the back of your neck. Your heart beat quickens to the tune of your rapid knocking.
At last, the door opens, and an elderly woman lets you in. The creases in her face and hands show her wisdom, and her gray hair is kept in a nice, tidy bun with a hand-carved wooden skewer through it. Her thin smile is kind, but it doesn’t reach her green eyes. Something mischievous lurks beneath them, and perhaps a flicker of magic.
“Weary traveler, I shall offer you one object of mine to take with you to aid on your journey. But be warned, if you choose what the majority of those before you have chosen, you will be trapped here forever. Choose wisely.”
