Ixora coccinea
(aka as jungle geranium, pauwenkers, flame of the woods or jungle flame, faja lobi)
“is a species of flowering plant in the Rubiaceaefamily. It is a common flowering shrub native to Southern India and Sri Lanka. It has become one of the most popular flowering shrubs in South Florida gardens and landscapes.
I. coccinea is a dense, multi-branched evergreen shrub, commonly 4–6 ft (1.2–2 m) in height, but capable of reaching up to 12 ft (3.6 m) high. It has a rounded form, with a spread that may exceed its height. The glossy, leathery, oblong leaves are about 4 in (10 cm) long, with entire margins, and are carried in opposite pairs or whorled on the stems. Small tubular, scarlet flowers in dense rounded clusters 2-5 in (5–13 cm) across are produced almost all year long.
Although there are around 500 species in the genus Ixora, only a handful are commonly cultivated, and the common name, Ixora, is usually used for I. coccinea. I. coccinea is used in warm climates for hedges and screens, foundation plantings, massed in flowering beds, or grown as a specimen shrub or small tree. In cooler climes, it is grown in a greenhouse or as a potted house plant requiring bright light.
The flowers, leaves, roots, and the stem are used to treat various ailments in the Indian traditional system of medicine, the Ayurveda, and in various folk medicines. The fruits, when fully ripe, are used as a dietary source.”
Accelerates wound healing and improves collagen tissue (excerpt from research:“ IxME ( I. coccinea methanol extract) treatment significantly accelerated the cutaneous wound healing as depicted by thick well organized re-epithelialized layer, dermis with compact collagen layering, and faster keratinization with intraepithelial cornification, ”) *see research link 5000 & 22118031
Antimicrobial=antibacterial, fungal & viral (excerpt from research :“ The different methanolic extract of flower and leaves of Ixora species showed a broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. Amongst all, ethanolic extract showed highly significant antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains used in this study when compared to standard. The aqueous extract showed moderate significant inhibition against all bacterial strains when compared to standard. ) *see research link 250 & 031
Antidiarrhea *see research link 321
Chemoprotective (Excerpt from research:” preventing body weight loss and maintaining near normal leucocyte and haemoglobin levels “) *see research link 765
Contains ursolic acid which has anticancer properties *see research link 15214483/ , wiki link
Contains lupeol which has also anticancer, anti-inflammatory and contraceptive (on sperm) properties *see research link also 15214483/ , wiki
Contains oleanolic acid which has sperm quality reducing/ infertility properties *see research 22231708, wiki

a sisa fu a faja lobi — 🌺 flowers gifted by @liliana_phenomenalwomanthatsme — P R O L O G U E - the alchemist by @paulocoelho when Narcissus died, the goddesses of the forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears. “ why do you weep? “ the goddesses asked. “ I weep for Narcissus, “ the lake replied. “ ah, it’s no surprise that you weep for Narcissus, “ they said, “ for though we always pursued him in the forest, you alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand. “ “ but ... was Narcissus beautiful ? “ the lake asked. “ who better than you to know that? “ the goddesses said in wonder. “ after all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to contemplate himself! “ the lake was silent for some time. finally it said: “ I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected. “ #SelfLove - #Beauty - #GreekMythology https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvl7JcQF-fX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=24wtsk64a4db
