More Obscure Facts About Fallout 4 Companions*
*Now with slightly more unverified psychoanalysis!
X6 gets anxious at the thought of large crowds.
Codsworth likes to imagine being a father to a little robot son. Hang on, buddy, I’m getting my six hundred pounds of scrap metal out of storage.
MacCready seems to have lived in Bigtown for some period of time, or at least visited enough to have memories there. Also, the Lone Wanderer (or one of their companions/Sidney) told him about their encounter with Button Gwinnett.
Despite having little empathy for the people of the Commonwealth, Cait often becomes distressed imagining the victims of the bombs, especially when children are involved.
Danse believes that pre-war healthcare and scientific research should have been publicly owned. He hates corporations in general, especially Vault-Tec.
Nick not only loves poetry, but he’s also able to recite several famous poems such as Ozymandias and The Raven. He’s very sad to see destroyed books at the library.
It’s been confirmed by a non-Deacon source that he spent a month as a ghoul. (Somehow.) NPC dialogue implies that he was telling the truth about disguising himself as a woman for awhile, too.
Apparently Piper was a complete nightmare as a child. She would steal her dad’s pistol, shoot the combat inhibitors off robots, and let them run through town.
There’s some sort of debate in the fandom about whether Curie was originally a Miss Nanny or a Mister Handy, but she confirms in dialogue that she was a Miss Nanny.
Nick can feel pain! :(!
Deacon likes molerats, hates killing them, and wishes he could domesticate them. He should visit Sloan.
A probably incomplete list of things Danse wishes he could do: Fishing, watching a movie, playing/watching baseball, seeing a show at an amphitheater, bowling, shopping
TBH I was wrong on the last post. Preston doesn’t like swimming, his dialogue is tagged as sarcastic there. In my defense, he’s got depression and tends to speak flatly. That means that not one single companion likes to swim, except Strong who doesn’t care.
Despite maintaining there’s a difference between robots and synths, Nick believes in robot rights and often encourages robots not to think of themselves as slaves.

Fo4 companions + Maxson react to accidentally falling into worm hole and getting sent to the past for a week and end up meeting their younger self. (Danse meeting himself as M7-97)
So this was one super interesting, lol! I had to get a bit creative for some because I didn’t want to leave anyone out + I added Strong and Dogmeat!!
Cait
The moment her former self was in currently, was what Cait then believed was the peak of her life. She felt the strongest she ever was due to her own raw strength and the unmentionable addictions keeping her going at a hundred-percent all of the time. Being loved was a foreign concept and there were no thoughts of ever inheriting a real friend or someone who cared enough to save her. Even if she were to speak to that version of herself, Cait knew she wouldn’t be able to get through to her then. There was really no point of exercising the thought to her that there was good in the world willing to take her in. That was left up to Sole, for she believed only they could ever be the one to get through to her no matter her state.
Synth!Codsworth
“Oh dear, was I always floating about this rusty in the beginning?” The new synthetic-bodied Codsworth stands ashamed of his former self. The robot floated before him with his rusty exterior and only motive to try and rid the world of its new radiated filth.
“Um, did you say I? I do believe you are confused, sir. Perhaps all of this radiation is altering your thought process. My Sir and Mum should be back any minute now and they would love to help you!” The robot version of himself gleamed at the opportunity to help someone in need, not realizing the person before him was actually himself in another time and body. He was also mistaken about the timing of which only part of his family would return to him. The synth decided it wasn’t in his best interest to tell the robot all of this information, as he always remained hopeful.
Curie
The synth looked upon her former robotic self with two strong feelings; one of relief and one of sorrow. She was of course relived to be able to roam free among the world and view it as a human, for which she loved humans very much. However, part of her was longing for the former connections she had while in this state. The scientists she was built up with and the experiments she held while as the robot were dear parts of her past that she held closely to her synthetic-heart. Though with all of the reminiscing, she is able to remind herself of why the change happened and how she can move forward with her new connections and experiments that she also appreciates.
Danse
Danse doesn’t quite understand why he sees the synth with a blank personality, meant to take his own. He doesn’t remember his life before it was stolen, but meeting him, who took his own life. The version of himself now was standing before that same version. “You know you aren’t me.” He is still astonished with the entire thing, hoping this thing doesn’t yet have his personality.
“I am supposed to be Paladin—“
“M7-97.” Danse cuts him off sternly. “That’s who we are… We become Danse with time.” Though still struggling to understand himself after learning of his true identity, he doesn’t allow this to be a setback and instead finds satisfaction in seeing himself as a synth in an earlier stage of creation. It gives him peace knowing that he has the freedom to write his own story now.
Deacon
Deacon absolutely loathed seeing his past self. The younger leaving destruction in his path. He had no desire to speak to him or allow him to know of his future’s presence. Instead he only watched from the shadows intently, forcing himself to endure what he thought he deserved. Watching himself completing ravaging tasks was torture to his new role. He swallowed back all of the hate and anguish for that version of himself until this wormhole was done tormenting him with it.
Dogmeat
Dogmeat is overjoyed seeing himself as a puppy and immediately wants to play! He can’t even remember what it was like being that small, but that doesn’t matter now. He is content with just playing chase with his younger self until they’re both too tired to run any longer.
Gage
Seeing himself before the corruption of being a raider was like a punch to the gut for Gage. He saw optimism and light in his younger eyes, bliss from what he believed was protection then. What was soon to come for him was an awful awakening and the Gage now knew that, so he felt more sad than anything. He assumed anger would have been his first emotion, but he couldn’t bring himself to be angry with the past any longer.
“Things turn out alright for us… eventually, at least. You’ll meet so many shitty people ‘long the way, but one’s gonna come around and change all that.” Gage makes sure to tell his former self about his admiration for the Overboss, no matter their current relationship. He owed his newfound happiness to them.
“Thing’s get serious with this ‘one’?” His former preteen self giggled at the ‘old-man’, teasing at any hints of a relationship of some kind.
Gage chuckles and shakes his head, “They’re alright by us an’ that’s all that matters.”
Hancock
“Yeah, I figured the day’d come.” The smooth-skin John chuckled a his later state. His eyes scanned over the ghoulified version of himself dressed in historical attire, but wearing it with definite swagger. “Say, that brother of ours ever come around? This fight worth it?”
“McDonough’s a lost cause, but the fight’s always worth it. Lot’s a people come around for you because you never lose sight of what’s right.” Hancock smiles as he reminisces on the upbringing of his people. A lot was sacrificed along the way; his skin being part of that recklessness within the upbringing. In his mind everything happened in its place for a reason. He had to be the mortar for his people and for that, he absolutely held no regrets.
MacCready
There’s so many things MacCready thinks to tell his former self, but when it actually comes down to meeting him, he can’t bring himself to relieve the munchkin of knowing the future. Those unchangeable experiences couldn’t be passed through stories, so instead he interacted in the only way his 12-year old self knew.
“Hey butt-muncher, you got cave fungus all over your upper lip.” He chuckles, getting on his own nerves very easily.
“Can it, mungo! This is a mustache!” MacCready can’t help but to laugh at himself. Though he made plenty of bad decisions in his childhood, growing that ‘mustache’ was quite possibly his worst small mistake he ever made.
Maxson
Squire Maxson was quite the sight to the older; having only aged 8 years since then, however appearing to have fought many battles that physically aged him tremendously. The young boy was still in training by his predecessor Sarah, yet untouched by the cruel world. Two years to come for this boy before his entire world changed and he would become the war-machine that he now knows so comfortably. Elder Maxson was struggling to find the words to convey to him former self, knowing nothing would change. He cannot label feelings neither, for that was a difficult task. The younger fears the man before him but not because of appearance but instead his demeanor. There was a darkness that loomed over him and despite only being 12 years old, the younger knew things were not well for himself later in life. “I become Elder…” His voice trembles slightly only then realizing what that means for Sarah. “Oh.”
“I do what’s best for the Brotherhood. I know what’s best.” Maxson says to himself, though it comes out more as if he has to convince himself of that. There were a lot of battles in his life but none bigger than the self-battle he is always going through. He wish things could be different for the young boy, but with the greatest responsibility among his shoulders, nothing could ever change for him.
Nick
Nick’s former self is a prototype synth, factory fresh and one of the first of his kind. As a prototype, his personality still wasn’t fully there as the Institute were attempting to develop prewar people into their synths. Nick realizes he never knew himself as a separate personality then, he has no memories before Nick Valentine. The image before him didn’t feel like him, so he merely watched as the Institute performed more experiments on him. Experiencing this wormhole creates more doubt in his mind as he tries to understand himself as his own Nick of his time.
Piper
The urge to approach her younger self and warn her of upcoming events was very hard to fight for Piper. She knew no matter what there was no changing the past but part of her hoped if she could just spiel enough knowledge to her younger self in this worm-hole, she would be able to break through the wall and change the order of events. Solemnly, she decides to instead nurture the young Piper as she needs.
“How different are things in the future? Is the grass greener? Do we find love? What is Nat like?” Her younger self, full of ambition and curiosity bombards her with several questions.
Piper cringes at the truth and does her best to mask the truth; “Uh, well, things are actually a lot different, but it turns out alright. There’s people there for us and we take care of them too… We’ll be okay.”
Content with this answer, the younger Piper goes back to drawing a portrait of her little family with the newest addition of baby Nat. Piper was only happy the innocence still had a few years before it would be lost.
Preston
In a nightmare-like tone, Preston was sent to himself at his lowest point. Though it wasn’t too far into the past for himself to see noticeable changes in his appearance, he was able to instantly notice the change in demeanor. His past self held no hope for the future or himself, he was lost in all ways and ready to give up. “The good fight is worth all of this sacrifice.” He tells himself. Seeing the future and what it holds definitely brings a twinkle of light to his former self, however he was still at a loss in his current state. “Good people give their all so the Commonwealth can stand for the future generations. You give your all.”
“What other choice do I have? These people are counting are counting on me.” The past Preston chokes back on his words. They come out a lot more confident than he felt in himself at that moment. He knew in his heart it was the right answer, as his fight will always be for the good of the people. Finding the courage was becoming onerous, but he was finally willing to accept the help of those around him to guide him.
Strong
“So this is what I become…” Strong’s former self wasn’t as shocked at the sight of his future as he was now knowing what would eventually happen to the world. “They actually did it, damned us all.”
Strong studies this human timidly, still not fully convinced at one point this was him. He decided to instead lecture himself for being sad about his current state, “HUMAN SHOULD BE HAPPY. HUMAN STRONG AFTER BOMB.”
Human Strong crosses his arms, “Human was strong before. I, er, you worked out a lot before… this. At least you still take pride in your athleticism.” Though the human version of himself was glad that teeny bit of self-sense was still there, he was still deeply distraught at his outcome with life.
X6-88
Depending on the path Sole takes, X6 meeting himself in his early stages of creation could be broken down in two ways;
A) Sole “rescues” X6 from the confinement of the Institute and he lives at a settlement after the Institute is blown up.
—X6 is faced with a version of himself that is no courser to the institute, but merely just a test subject of a synth. This version has plenty of training to endure before he could ever be a courser. While X6 thought he would be disgusted, or even envy the given fresh start, he felt nothing but pity for his former self. “One day you will be freed of the Institute’s reign. Your savior is powerful and compassionate enough to forgive a synth like you for all of the trouble you have caused them.” He tells his younger self, stating fact of what he knows now. However, this version would hear none of it and he knew that.
B) Sole becomes director of the Institute.
—X6 feels nothing when meeting himself in the early stages of creation. He knows from that point to where he is now, things would never change for him. This was his destiny after all; A machine made to serve and kill.

What do you think would be each Romanced!Companions + Gage biggest parenting screw up when it comes to raising Synth Shaun? Nothing traumatic, just those funny cringy “Yeah I screwed up” moments.
Cait:
As someone who grew up with severely abusive parents, Cait is an awkward mixture of “fun mom” and overbearing guardian
She spoils Shaun with toys and gadgets she finds on trips
However, she isn’t sure how to discipline him; fearing she’ll come off too much like her own folks, but also afraid if Shaun doesn’t learn any lessons that he’ll become prey in the Commonwealth
Since Cait realizes she doesn’t have it in her to ever punish Shaun, she decides to toughen him up and teach him to fight. Even though he looks ridiculous, Cait pads Shaun up with plenty of protective gear before teaching him to spar.
As she’s explaining how to block, Shaun mishears and thinks Cait asked him to punch. He hits her directly in the eye. She doubles over as he bursts into tears apologizing.
But Cait isn’t upset; she’s laughing. He gave her a black eye that’d make any veteran of the Combat Zone proud.
Cait and Shaun agree to tell Sole that Cait got it in a skirmish with raiders.
Next time Cait and Shaun step in the ring, Shaun suggests she wear protective gear. Cait wasn’t laughing then.
Codsworth (synth):
Shaun falls and scrapes his knee? Codsworth is spooling his entire leg in gauze. Shaun gets stung by an insect? Codsworth is holding him down to administer three stimpacks. Shaun and MacCready have a burping contest? Codsworth is making up a diet plan for Shaun to combat possible indigestion.
He’s the definition of a helicopter mom
“I waited over 200 years for your return, young master. I’m not about to lose you to the common cold!”
Sole finally draws the line when Codsworth wouldn’t let Shaun play in a light drizzle, claiming it was the “gateway to a full-blown radstorm”.
Unless one of Shaun’s limbs are literally hanging off his body, Codsworth is now only allowed to administer light first aid.
Even if he really wants to force Shaun on bedrest after falling off his bike.
Curie:
Curie is constantly assuring Shaun that knowledge is just as important as strength when navigating the Commonwealth
It’s hard for Shaun to believe when he hangs around the likes of Cait and MacCready all day
“Just because Monsieur MacCready lived in a cave does not mean you need to act like you do, too.”
Sometimes she takes his education too seriously. Curie makes up tests and lesson plans on everything from calculus to marine science.
Curie finally admits she is going too far when she unironically asked Shaun to name every pre-war state capitol.
To let him get silly revenge, Curie allows Shaun to make his own pop quiz for her to take. It’s filled with questions like “who was the most popular villain in Grognak the Barbarian?” and “what is my favorite flavor of Nuka Cola?”
She answers them all correctly :)
Danse:
Danse knows the best soldier is one who is prepared. That’s why -- against Sole’s absolute disagreement -- he takes Shaun on a routine patrol with other Brotherhood members.
Danse turned his back for just a moment, and Shaun slipped over debris and slid down a startlingly steep hill.
Danse literally shrieked as he watched Shaun’s little head disappear down the incline.
He went charging after Shaun on instinct, slipping on the same debris and falling flat on his ass.
When he reached the bottom of the hill, he quickly checked Shaun for injuries. When it was clear the boy was unharmed, Danse shook his head, face red with embarrassment.
“Lets head back to the Prydwyn,” he mumbled. “Don’t tell your father/mother about this. Now hurry. Sole packed us a really nice lunch.”
Deacon
Deacon had always wanted to be a father. When he was married to Barbara, he read every pre-war parenting book he could find.
However, the sterile pages of “make sure to speak gently but firmly” and “check your baby has reached certain developmental milestones per year” never covered what to do when you adopt the synth child of an Institute genius.
Shaun was constantly building (and blowing up) contraptions. Wiring strange blinking inventions. Asking Deacon to find textbooks on physiology and number theory.
Deacon’s biggest fault was giving into every whimsical request Shaun made of him. He was the first one to volunteer for Shaun’s whacky science experiments. Filled Shaun’s bookshelves with salvage from pre-war classrooms and hospitals. Let Shaun paint his face with weird ink the kid claimed would turn him invisible.
(The paint didn’t work. Deacon broke out in hives.)
He could just never tell the boy no. And he never would. Shaun was the son he always wanted.
Gage:
“Well shit, boy. Of course you got hurt. What’dya think would happen playing on a scrapheap?”
Gage was a loving parent, but also a blunt one. He was just as quick to point out Shaun’s strengths as he was the kid’s youthful stupidity.
Gage called it “tough love”. Sole said it was “asshole advice”.
He just didn’t want Shaun growing up in a way that wouldn’t teach him to defend himself. Even if that defense was against sarcasm.
Shaun is jumping on the couch when Gage enters his room, startling him. In Shaun’s panic, he falls to the floor and twists his ankle.
“Ya can’t jump on the damn furniture and not expect to --” Gage had barely started his lecture when Shaun burst into tears. The boy started babbling about always being a disappointment and never doing anything right.
Gage fell to his knees next to Shaun, his own face twisted in pain.
“No, no! Shaun, that ain’t what I meant, son. You’re smart and creative and all that wonderful shit. Please don’t cry! Here...” Gage took off the armor over his torso and flexed his arm. “Punch me hard as you can. Then we’re even.”
Shaun’s sobs turned to sniveled giggling. “Are you trying to get me to stop crying before dad/mom finds out? Afraid we’re gonna get grounded?”
Gage laughed heartily. What had he been thinking?! Shaun was his son, not a little brother who needed to feel equal.
“Your damn right,” Gage lied, smiling. “‘Cause if Sole won’t let us read past bedtime after this I’m blame’n you, kiddo.”
Hancock
Don’t judge Hancock’s parenting skills. Not many could raise a boy in a neighborhood known for its lack of goodness. Despite its name.
He was a hands-off parent. Hancock observed Shaun from afar, of course. But he wanted Shaun to make his own mistakes. Find his passions without any authority nudging him in a certain direction.
That all changed when he caught Shaun smoking a cigarette in his room. Hancock acted like the kid was snorting buffout.
“We raised you better than this, Shaun!” Hancock snatched the cigarette from Shaun’s mouth and stomped on it. “This stuff’ll kill you! You think smoking is cool? You wanna impress the ladies? Get a good head on your shoulders. Do something with your life. That’s how you get status. Not...” He gestured exasperatedly around them. “...drugs!”
Shaun bust out laughing. “You gave me a pack last night, Hancock. When you and dad/mom came back from the Third Rail. You were going on about me finally being a man and if I was going to do something reckless might as well do it in the house.”
Hancock was speechless.
“And you were, like, totally high,” Shaun added.
[Hancock disapproves... of himself]
MacCready:
MacCready is a family man. He loves Shaun like his own flesh-and-blood.
He’d do anything for the kid. Storm the Glowing Sea. Infiltrate an Institute 2.0. Join the damn Brotherhood of Steel if needed.
And MacCready shows it. He is the one who teaches Shaun to shoot his first gun, ride a bike and change the radio station by shooting a rubber band.
Which is why it is shocking every time........ MacCready calls Shaun by the wrong name.
“Hey Duncan! Shoot, I mean Dogmeat! Darn it. Codsworth! Um, no. Shaun!”
It’s a classic dad move to call your kid the dog’s name.
It’s an advanced dad move to call your kid after your partner’s Mr. Handy.
Shaun is always flustered but laughing. “Did you call me every person’s name in this house but my own?”
“Can it. And, um, please bring me a rubber band so I can change the station.”
Preston:
Preston was happy to teach Shaun to shoot a gun or repair a generator. There were plenty of mundane tasks and skills that needed mastered to survive in the Commonwealth.
It was the growing-up talks Preston needed to have with him that were the hardest.
He rather help Shaun scrub the entire Castle with a toothbrush than explain where babies come from.
Preston wasn’t some delicate wallflower. He hadn’t survived so long in the Commonwealth by being overly-sensitive.
But there was something about answering questions about bodily functions and puberty that twisted his stomach.
“Well, you see Shaun...” Preston coughed. “When a mommy and a... you know, when a...”
Shaun blinked. “When a mommy and a who do what?”
“Can’t you just ask Sole?”
Piper
The woman who profits off her kid sister’s labor is not the most ethical of mothers.
Piper lets Shaun get away with far more than he should, and pushes him further than he sometimes wants to go.
She doesn’t understand why Sole won’t let him get a part-time job at the water treatment plant.
“When I was his age I was cleaning chimneys and bartering with caravans!”
Piper encourages Shaun to work hard, and so when Sole deems most jobs in Diamond City too dangerous, she lets him sell papers with Nat.
Unfortunately, Shaun is garbage at it. He’s more occupied with pointing out Piper’s typos than actually advertising.
Piper eventually drops the whole “child labor” thing and allows him to be more of a kid. She knows he deserves a break after all he’s been through.
Nick:
As someone who has encountered many cases of missing children, Nick can be a little overbearing.
He’s adamant about enforcing curfew and knowing exactly which friends Shaun hangs out with.
However, he struggles to understand Shaun’s youthful desire to be “normal”
“One of your parents is a gen-2 synth detective and the other is a pre-war popsicle, Shaun. You were never going to be boring, that’s for sure.”
He really tries to make Shaun feel like a regular kid. Nick introduces him to crime noir comics and a respectable wardrobe. Even if Shaun feels like an outsider, the kid has developed excellent taste.
X6-88
Coursers were designed for killing. Not parenthood.
X6 tries his best to be a sensitive father. He listens to Shaun’s problems and, only when asked, offers solutions.
He even researches games Shaun might like to play, just so they could experience some traditional pre-war father-son bonding.
However, Sole banned sports in the house. An errant baseball through a window could be blamed for that.
X6′s biggest mistake was trying to impress Shaun. He didn’t realize Shaun loved him unconditionally. Coursers only knew the value of usefulness. If he wasn’t actively showing his worth as a father, he felt like he was failing.
Shaun finally begs X6 to stop his constant posturing. “I don’t love you because you give me toys and take me on cool trips,” Shaun explained. “I love you because you’re my dad.”
X6 felt like Father of Shaun was a better title than even Father of the Institute.

Hi! ❤️
How do you think the companions romanced or not (and Maxson) will react if you give them a portrait of themselves that you drew?) maybe Sole is artist or smth like that)
OOoooo good Idea!
(Im not the best with *all* the characters, but im tryin here!)
Because I mainly Write for like just deacon and a few others, also I did it in my usual format so I hope that's good enough!
(Also I did both romanced and non-romanced because HEHEHEHEHEH also non romanced is assumed Sole reached Idolized with them.)
Cait:
(I don't know that much about Cait, so I'm trying my best [: )
Non-romanced:
Would probably be irritated, but also flattered
"What're ye given me that for?"
Secretly thinks thats pretty nice but she's not telling Sole that.
Romanced:
Would be a bit more appreciative of it openly, but still act tough about it.
"Its alroight, eyh guess-"
Would probably fold it up and secretly keep it stashed in her corset or something.
But if anyone asks she never had it.
She sneakily gives Sole a quick smooch on the cheek.
Maccready:
(Idk that much about him but Ik he's a dork)
Non-Romanced:
"Oh that's pretty cool-"
Probably hasn't had a friend draw him before.
Probably pretty impressed because I think he likes to doodle too.
Romanced:
Probably would ask for more drawings after he sees that.
Like a drawing of him and Duncan
Keeps that drawing in his pocket, happily.
Smiles like an idiot, then gives Sole a little kiss.
Danse:
Non-Romanced:
"What is the purpose of this, soldier?"
Genuinely confused on why they drew him, Is it because they're just practicing their drawing? Is it a symbol of affection?
He would be critiquing the details and where Sole can improve, even if they didn't ask him to.
But thats just him showing he's interested in Sole's improvement.
Romanced:
"Oh, Thank you. This is a rather detailed depiction of my likeness."
He would be more invested in Sole's improvement if romanced, 100%.
Keeps that drawing in a nice safe place, he doesn't want it to get lost.
When he realizes it's actually like.. a sign of affection, he's got a big ass smile on his face.
Deacon:
Non-Romanced:
"Guessing you like my face then, huh? Don't get too attached it though!"
Actually very flattered that he's being drawn and not just on wanted posters because he goofed off too much.
Pretends to throw it away, but actually sticks it in his pocket.
Romanced:
"Damn, you must realllyy love my face then, huh?"
Trying so hard to not giggle like an idiot at that moment.
Smiling like a dork, big goofy grin.
Maybe blushing a little bit, but definitely trying to hide it.
Hancock:
Non-Romanced:
"Suprised you got my ugly mug is so much detail heh-"
Taking a nice good look at it, definitely putting it on the wall later.
Where everyone can see it, like a public buletin board.
Romanced:
Sole's 100% getting a big ol' kiss from him for this.
Still putting it on a public buletin board but will like publicly announce that theres a cool-ass drawing of him done by his partner on the bulletin.
"Thanks, Sunshine. Looks just like me-"
Piper
Non-Romanced:
"Thanks Blue! This looks great!"
Putting it on her wall next to her terminal.
Really appreciates it, she might even consider getting Sole to make illustrations for the Publick.
Romanced:
"Aww, Thanks Blue! I love it!"
Sole's getting a smooch on the cheek for this.
She's definitely showing it to Nick and her sister.
Nick Valentine:
Non-Romanced:
"Huh. Thanks kid, looks great."
Would probably get lost in his files and papers.
But he still appreciates that Sole took the time to draw him.
"Maybe you can take the time to make some wanted posters. The ones around here ain't the best".
Romanced:
He's putting it on the wall, immediately. Right over his desk.
"Thanks, Sweetheart, I love it."
Really happy Sole took the time to draw a beat up old Synth like him.
Longfellow:
Non-Romanced:
"Huh? Whatcha draw me for?"
Doesn't really think it's worth the effort for Sole to draw him.
But he's flattered. Probably keeps it on a table in his cabin somwhere.
Curie:
Non-Romanced:
"Oh thank you! Zis is very nice of you!"
Puts it in with her medical notes, folded up and paperclipped in the folder.
Big ol' smile.
Romanced:
About the same, But gives Sole a sweet little kiss on the cheek.
Codsworth:
Non-Romanced:
"Thank you Sir/Miss, I shall treasure this drawing always!"
Doesn't have a place to put it really, so he just kinda holds onto it for a while and maybe puts it with his cleaning supplies.
X6-88:
Non-Romanced:
"I do not understand why you would draw me, Sir/Ma'am."
Really doesn't get it.
Even if sole explains that it was a sign of affection and appreciation.
He really tries to understand why, but logically it doesn't make sense to him.
Romanced:
Still doesn't really get it, but he's trying his best.
"Thank you, Sir/Ma'am."
Keeps it in his pocket anyways.
Very tiny little smile.
Preston:
Non-Romanced:
"Thank you General, This is really nice of you-"
Keeps it in his coat pocket happily.
Big ol' smile on his face.
Blushing a bit that Sole took time and effort to draw him in such detail.
Romanced:
"Oh wow, Thanks babe!"
Sole is getting a smooch, right on the lips (:
Gage:
Non-Romanced:
"What the hell, boss. Why'd ya waste yer time on that?"
Throws it away, he's a raider, ain't got time for sappy touchy-feely shit.
"Tough shit boss, suck it up." when Sole gets mad at him for throwing it away.
Romanced:
Same kinda reaction, but he picks it up outta the trash later and sticks it in his pocket.
Ada:
Non-Romanced:
"Oh. Thank you. This is rather nice."
Doesn't have anywhere to keep it, so Sold holds onto it for her.
Maxson:
Non-Romanced:
"Well, Soldier. That does catch my likeness very well, doesn't it?"
Cocky bastard about it, but in a "Im your elder" way.
Thats getting put into his man diary (That he 100% has because I said so.)
Romanced:
"Well, that is very nice.. Thank you Soldier-"
Puts it into his pocket for later, with a smile on his face that goes away once he walks away from Sole, because it's serious time now.

Data from Vault 95 confirms that The Chair is not a magical-fix-all-your-problems machine — at the very least, it can’t cure the psychological side of chem dependency. It’s not stated in Cait’s quest because of fo4’s aversion to loose ends, but her story definitely isn’t over. (She references this if you do drugs in front of her afterwards.)
I think the next step for Cait is going to have to be expanding her circle of trust past The Player Character (All Hail). The Sole Survivor is wonderful and their relationship is lovely, but they have a lot on their plate, what with being responsible for every political and personal issue in all of Boston.
But… the team has a former addict on it! It’s Deacon! (Unless he was lying. Honestly it’s 50-50. We’ll assume for now that he wasn’t.) We also know that Hancock is really supportive about addiction! I really like the thought that he stops doing/talking about drugs around Cait (or Mama Murphy)(or the kids for that matter). Preston and Piper aren’t bad about it either. Other companions… well, we don’t see how they handle it past the intervention stage. I’m sure they try.
If I knew more about addiction, I’d write about how Cait handles it all. But I definitely do want to write more about the companions supporting each other, because the game’s limitations leave a lot of room to explore that.

Uh, ✨her✨
Mateo just met Cait, he's terrible at lock picking so she's been proving herself quite useful so far. However, they don't share the same principles and philosophies of life, which tells me things won't go too well 🗿
We'll see!

note: i do find it unusual to see Piper not wearing her scarf, but she had to remove it for the injection.

Cait feels like she owes you her life and will be at your beck and call, waiting for anything she could possibly do to even make an attempt at paying you back for sticking with her for as long as you have, even if you tell her none of it's necessary, and you love her for her.
Now that she's officially off the chems, she'll try and do more community service-type deeds to clean up her act. She's not much of a fan, but she does need something to do, and what's more exciting than helping Preston and Sturges set up a few more houses? (everything, but she's still grateful to be a part of it)
She's the first to volunteer whenever you say you're headed off to do a quest, and the first to grab a bat whenever someone says something even slightly negative about you.
Every Sunday, she'll drag you down to the Dugoutt Inn, throw you in one of the booths, and offer to share a bottle of Moonshine. Usually, the two of you just talk, but sometimes the Bobrov brothers will come over and tell you guys stories of things that had happened throughout the week. It always reminds you of those Football nights you used to have before the war when you'd gather in someone's basement and just hang out with everyone.
Cait's not the best at it, but whenever you're beaten and bleeding, she'll do her best to try and patch you up. There will always be people out there who're way more qualified than she'll ever be, but she knows the basics.
She definitely makes her opinion known when she thinks you've been drinking too much or have been taking too many drugs. You'll be kept in line with her around, she refuses to let you fall into the same rabbit hole that she did.
Whether you romanced her or not, she'll still jokingly flirt with you all the time. She'll run her hands along your shoulders and whisper the most lewd comments until you start blushing or get a tad flustered.
One of these days she'll take you aside and teach you a few more effective self-defense methods just so you're better prepared in any sort of fight you find yourself in.
Cait may still put up that tough-Irish-girl front of hers, but behind it all is a genuine friend who would stop everything she was doing to sit and listen to whatever it was that was bothering you.
She's so willing to throw down for you. You give her the word, and she'll gladly make someone 'disappear' for you. You guys are like the secret service of the Commonwealth, anyone does anything to either of you, and they're gone.
The jokes she makes are almost always horribly timed. Like you'll be sitting in your room all sad and she'll say something like, "It's totally your fault". She intends for them to be sarcastic quips of some kind, but they don't really land. She's just not that great at cheering people up, but she definitely tries.
Her drug habit might've stopped, but her thieving practice won't. It's for better or for worse, but you can't deny how relieved you get when you notice the extra hundred caps that'd been snuck into your pockets when you weren't looking. They save you in most situations and you almost have to be grateful she hasn't kicked the habit yet.
The one thing with Cait is that you're gonna have to teach her some healthier coping skills before she punches a hole in your wall, or anyone else's for that matter.
She loves to sit with you on the bridge right outside Sanctuary and toss stones. She likes the edges of the rocks in her hands and finds it a bit soothing when they sink and cause ripples in the water.
Overall, Cait ends up being the best friend you never knew you needed. She's there for literally everything and couldn't ever imagine her life without you.
