watching fancy fast food where i learned olive garden straight up does not salt their pasta water, so as a olive garden hater i did the math, and it's cheaper to buy ingredients for spaghetti and meat sauce at walmart that can feed a family of four versus a single portion of olive garden's spaghetti and meat sauce, and the food will be guaranteed to taste better, even if you suck at cooking.

watching mythical kitchen and u kno something i rly appreciate is how they talk abt cheap & processed & additive-heavy foods in like, a positive way?

like so many cooking shows are like 'here is the authentic and real and healthy and pure ingredient, always go with this one it's just better' and like, bcos of that sometimes i feel like when i buy cheap & easy shit that means i'm settling or getting lesser stuff

but for example rn i'm watching one of the ones where they compare ingredienets from nicer stores and cheaper stores and they'll actually stop and talk abt like. how a cheaper version of something tastes good & is good for you. like yeah, there's grains or w/e added to the meat, that doesn't make it less that adds a different texture & different nutrition. yeah, there's extra salt and fat and chemicals added, and we love those, they taste good and make cooking easier. oh, this cheap thing is actually very similar to an established dish that we love, isn't that great! wow you can get unusual flavors of stuff at dollar tree sometimes! etc.

and it never feels fake it's all very genuine abt what they actually like and the dollar-for-dollar breakdown of things is helpful and the like, comparison of hey, here's what's actually worth it to get the pricier version of, here's what you can get the cheap one and still enjoy it just as much. it's good i'm having a good time.

i'm starting to get the appeal of restricting & fasting tbh. Idk which I prefer yet. I dont know which would be better for avoiding binges. It feels nice to not be on a constant sugar rollercoaster tho. I feel crummy sometimes, kinda tired, and theres a lot of food noise in my head, but I just keep distracted, give it time, and then when I can feel the cravings getting too loud to do things I eat a bit but not much... its kinda working. It feels nice tho to be kinda more empty. Even tho the food noise is really loud, I like the fog that comes with it. The hunger isnt even that uncomfortable. Imaging the fat bubbling and dissolving is enough

Ok so here me going on my GMM tangent. One of my favorite series on GMM is Frozen vs Fast vs Fancy Foods where they try different foods from different price points and see how expensive their taste is. On that show there’s this fancy cow in a red dress named Moochelle who dances with Rhett and/or Link whenever they pick the fanciest food. People would alway comment that she’s just Chase in a red dress and cow mask and there was some drama about that but that’s not what I’m here to talk about. Real quick if anyone reading this cares about this series and hasn’t seen the newest episode them major spoilers ahead.

Anyways Moochelle is dead. She got blown up by a stick of dynamite attached to her back. Now when that happened I shit you not I was in shock, on the floor, screaming my ass off. Now before this happened there were other attempts on her life, there was a bear trap, a meat hook, an arrow and other things. Now when this first happened I was kinda confused bc I was like who would want to kill Moochelle and I’m ngl the, I started to enter my detective era. I started coming up with theories of who it could be and why and I think I’ve figured it out.

Ok now we’re getting into my theories so buckle up. So the first person I suspected was Chase because of the accusations of Moochelle just being Chase in a costume. But the more I thought about that the more I realized that doesn’t make sense, why would Chase want to kill Moochelle for people mistaking her for him if anything it would make more sense if Moochelle wanted to kill Chase because of that for “stealing her act.” There was a point where Moochelle literally left because of the accusations. Anyways that theory didn’t make too much sense so I moved on to my next one.

In one of the episodes where Moochelle is attacked, I forgot with what, Link takes it and licks it, because he’s Link, he say “It’s kinda sweet” referring to the weapon and when I heard him say that I shit you not I stood up and yelled “COTTON CANDY RANDY!!!!” When I got that idea I thought it makes perfect sense! Whenever Cotton Candy Randy was on screen interacting with Rhett and Link he wanted, to put it lightly, get their attention. He would also be aggressive toward people who would try to steal that attention, kinda of like Stefon from SNL. So because of this Cotton Candy Randy has much more of a motive to kill Moochelle then Chase.

There is probably more evidence either for or against it and more evidence to come with more episodes but for now that’s where I stand, I think Cotton Candy Randy killed Moochelle. I’m probably not gonna post like this too much bc Ik it’s a lot to read but if I ever enter my detective era again get ready for more long ass tangents like this one.

Today was tough. I lost count of how many stressful phone calls I had to deal with, and already posted about how hard that was

But I managed to recover from that stress enough to do some dishes, feed my boys, have a thorough and refreshing shower, and attend to a few other small matters

The me from 10 years ago would have spent the rest of the day wallowing in self-pity and frustration, probably in bed, accomplishing nothing. It's good to see how far I've come

I have physio extremely early tomorrow, so I'll be heading to bed soon, but I am proud of me for surviving today. And tomorrow after physio, I will do something nice for myself. Not sure what yet, but i deserve some kind of treat I think

if it's possible, could you recommend some other cooking/food related youtubers that are also at least normal about cheap ingredients? for personal reasons.

alas, i'm afraid i don't know any; i am only an occasional youtube watcher and the like, three other cooking ones i've watched with any regularity (as well as the various ones i've watched once or twice) are more fancier and/or experimental (but with fancy equipment). mythical kitchen stands out to me specifically bcos of this difference.

I’ve been donating 1/30 of my income to Indigenous groups and/or projects (actually more but the 1/30 is the amount I explicitly keep track of) and I gotta say... it is such a tiny amount. Like I just added up all the money I’ve made since *May* (not including this or last week) and calculated the donation I need to make, and I really thought it would be a big amount, but it’s really not. We spent more than this on cupcakes for our wedding.

(Before you judge me for my cupcake expenditures, summer & early fall is very slow for my work (tutoring)!!! this is more about low income than absurd food budget)
