How many works do you have on AO3? Presently, 24. (I joined AO3 3 years after joining fanfiction.net so there are a few more on there of questionable quality)

What's your total AO3 word count? 135,060

What fandoms do you write for? It varies greatly depending on what I'm watching, but mostly All Creatures Great and Small (2020) and Star Trek Voyager/Next Gen.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? My Dearest Lizzy (a Pride & Prejudice/Death Comes to Pemberley fanfic from AGES ago), Right Here (Mission Impossible, Ilsa/Ethan), Frozen Harmonies (hilariously, an overly dramatic Star Trek Next Gen fanfic, Picard/Crusher), For a Time Innumerable (Wheel of Time, series 1 aftermath, wrote this last year and kinda proud of it), Milk & Honey (All Creatures Great and Small 2020, in which Mr Farnon and Mrs Hall converse in the kitchen in the small hours of the morning, one of my personal faves)

Do you respond to comments? Yes! I love responding to comments and discussing my fics as well as commenting on other people's works.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? That is a good question... There are a great many. Potentially Some Shred of Goodness (The Crucible) which reflects on John and Elizabeth Proctor's relationship and if you know what happens in the play then the end of this fic, whilst sounding happy, is SUPER angsty.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Ooooh, um, either Little Ordinary Things or Knights and Dragons, both fluffy Siegfried & Audrey, All Creatures Great & Small fics.

Do you get hate on fics? I had one comment on a fic last year that was weird/not nice/super critical/generally confusing and it kinda freaked me out so I deleted the fic - until some lovely person came and found me on Tumblr asking where the rest was and to not give up writing it.

Do you write smut? Nope.

Do you write crossovers? I don't think I've ever written one? I do have a potential crossover in mind (added to the very long list of unwritten fic ideas)

Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No idea?

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not yet.

What's your all-time favorite ship? Good grief I can only have one? Most of my ships have not sailed, lol. RIP. Or have yet to set sail *cough* Siegfried/Audrey from All Creatures Great and Small, and then Picard/Crusher and Janeway/Chakotay from Star Trek. Also platonic ship: Moiraine & Lan, Wheel of Time. My original OTPs will forever be Aragorn/Arwen and Han/Leia.

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The Star Trek Next Gen fic I started writing 10 years ago which has 5 different versions and is over 40k words in note form *cries*

What are your writing strengths? I have not been asked this before... I like writing descriptively, describing locations but also emotions. If you've read my fics I'd like to know what you think my strengths are?

What are your writing weaknesses? Coming up with titles. I have a tendency to edit to death. And then ending up in the cycle of I kinda hate this/this is the best thing I've ever written and trying to find an end. Also, not planning everything out and getting lost in my chapters.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? If it's called for, go for it! I'm currently working on a Witcher fic and have done a stupid amount of research into the Elder speech and Skellige jargon.

First fandom you wrote for? Technically Scott & Bailey on fanfiction.net, When it Rains it Pours. It is terrible, the punctuation is everywhere, it's hilariously dramatic, and still my longest fic to date.

Favorite fic you've written? Oh no, I don't know! I really don't. Possibly Milk & Honey?

What fandoms do you write for? A lot of GoT (Game of Thrones), A few for Arcane, and just recently FF7 (Final Fantasy 7).

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't think there is any. They all have a happy/hopeful ending because I know nothing else.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? All of them, lul.

Do you get hate on fics? The only hate I received was recently and it's not even real hate. It was just a bot-generated guest comment. I was disappointed and my day was ruined. How dare no one hate me.

Do you write smut? No because there are so many other folks who write it better than I ever could so I just mooch off of them like I'm at a five-star restaurant (thank you for the food, besties)

Do you write crossovers? No.

First fandom you wrote for? If we wanna go way way back to my 14 year-old tween self, KHR (Katekyo Hitman Reborn).

Favorite fic you've written? Gotta be Paradox. Thanks to the lovely and talented writers behind GoT, I was at my lowest point post 8x03 like many others. The trauma motivated me start typing away for the first time in over a decade since my last fic on FF.net. Personally, I don't think it's my greatest piece, but it's definitely one that came from the deepest pit of my soul and jumpstarted everything for me on AO3.

She ticks 'women'. Adds 'men' to assuage the sickening feeling that instantly takes root in her stomach.

It doesn't particularly work.

A day at the beach, sleeveless shirt showing off tanned skin and lean muscles—Suki can see the hint of a tan line where the strap on her t-shirt has tumbled down over one shoulder. Sunglasses, a beaming grin, a backwards cap hiding sweaty, windswept hair. Longer, Suki notes.

Really, she should just block her number and have done with it. Eve overstepped a boundary. That can never be forgiven.

Eve is so close to her, so close that she can pick out the flecks of colour in her eyes, the dusting of freckles across the bridge of her nose. Her breath is warm against her cheek, and Suki feels as if her whole being is on the cusp of igniting. Of burning the world down around her.

Fandoms I write for: Ugh... I only ever wrote for Game of Thrones.  Two-shot: Don’t have one. Have this untitled one instead. It’s Jorah with the objective to look for ships in Qarth (season 2) and it’s the first thing I ever wrote. A very short one. Most popular multichapter: Errrr it’s a gifset/minific in one: Lost and Found Actual Worst Part of Writing: GETTING STARTED. Ya got the outline, the ideas, and then you have to start... and hope the flow goes smoothly. How you choose your titles: Something that is climactic or summarizes the theme of the story... at the start. If I cannot think of anything, then some cliche phrase maybe. I’m just gonna take a minute and enjoy @fandomsbyladymelodrama‘s response on this one:  

With a sword (pen) in my hand and determination in my heart. And if the end result is a line in French, that means I definitely lost the battle 😂

Do you outline: Yes. Is it coherent? Does it make sense though? Errrmmm.... Ideas I probably won’t get to but it would be nice: The old-Jorah and old-Dany prompt by @youcancallme-ray still keep ringing in my mind but I never got to do an outline for it. Just the idea is interesting. But as I begin to form ideas, I get a little sad. The ‘growing old and still falling in love with you’ part though seems wonderful to explore. Best writing habits: Ha? Hahahahahahahaha! Spicy opinion: I don’t know if it’s spicy but I think anyone who follows me at this point knows none of my major ships have come true, and yet I still feel they belong together, given the chance... whether to stay close to each other or to fall in love with one another.

I could probably write an essay here for Ted and Rebecca, individually, and if romantically linked, but a lot of people already share the same sentiment and they could write down their thoughts more articulately than I ever could. I guess just this once, I hoped the ship would actually come true with all the signs... I hoped too much and probably watched a lot of cast interviews that also fueled it. Their friendship is still something so precious that I wished even a glimpse of that string tying them together was hinted at to continue, instead of the lamentation that Rebecca went through, making it seem like they’ll never cross paths again.

JAMES HAD LITERALLY HEART EYES EACH TIME SHE WAS AROUND HIM.

Look at THE DIGNITY with which he accepts that Elizabeth will NOT be by his side, you can see the moment his HEART BREAKS.

Such Gentleman. Such an honorable soul. You have right there a YOUNG COLONEL BRANDON, standing on the sidelines, watching the love of his life falling for a man that's not him, AND ALL HE DOES IS WISH THEM BOTH VERY HAPPY. He just wishes to see Elizabeth happy, even if he is not the reason for that happiness.

I mean.

Good gods, where are my tissue, because this man deserved SO MUCH MORE. SO MUCH MORE.

If you will ever write a fix-fic for them, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THE GODS, DO TAG ME IN IT, because I need this like I need the air I breathe!!! I HAVE THE POPCORN READY.

I feel like I poured myself into the "True Love Comes Softly" fic and I'm so glad I finished it. It's wonderful to hear that others like it so much!! <3

I had so much fun with that pioneer OUAT world that I've got a sequel half planned out and I've started to write it but it's got a long way to go. Your comment is almost providential because I've actually been back to writing a bit for the first time in forever (for another fandom) and it makes me hopeful I will get back to writing Red Cricket.

20 Questions for Fic Writers

I haven't been tagged, but I saw @fandomsbyladymelodrama do one of these a few months back - so of course, I wanted to give it a try. 🙃 Also, I haven't done any personal posts on here in forever. Time for a change!

How many works do you have on AO3? I have 18 works so far. And when it comes to ships, it looks like I have a "type." 😉

What's your total AO3 word count? Oh boy. 660K+ right now and growing all the time because when stories speak, I write.

What fandoms do you write for? Mainly Once Upon a Time (starting in 2013), followed by Game of Thrones (2024, baby!) and then that 1 Greek myth collection thingy. I was a die-hard Once fan back in the day and watched episodes religiously, so all the canon lore was seared into my brain until season 6 (when I dropped the show because the writing was so off the rails). Surprise, surprise - I haven't watched GoT in its entirety. Everything I know is through my own research, watching videos, reading, reading, reading, and the contributions of the wonderful Jorleesi fandom.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? All Captain Swan fics, in order from the most to the least: 1) Heart Bound 2) Only the Beginning 3) A Cobbler's Life For Me 4) Be My Angel, Be My Demon 5) Nevermore

Do you respond to comments? I try! I used to be less strict about replying to comments, but with my resurgence in fanfic after years of absence, I have replied to each and every one. Currently, I am behind on replies, but I will get around to it again. Soon.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oof. I don't do angsty endings because I will die on the hill that is Jane Austen: “My characters shall have, after a little trouble, all that they desire.” Probably my angstiest ending is in Trader of Hearts, which is a really dark fic. I do have a one-shot that is semi-angsty, though: Thinking of You.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? *deer in headlights look* I make it my business to give my beloved characters the happiest endings I can. Seriously. I don't know how to rank endings against each other, since the characters always end up together. I currently think my happiest ending is for The Old Curiosity Shop, my Jorleesi fic.

Do you get hate on fics? I have, but these were readers telling me how I should write my stories "the right way." I also have gotten spam comments. Overall, people are pretty nice.

Do you write smut? Hoo-hah! 😏 Let's count: I have 3 fics rated Mature and 5 fics rated Explicit. That's half of my fic repertoire. And when I do Explicit, it's ❤️‍🔥. Enough said.

Do you write crossovers? No. Not happening, cannot do, end of discussion.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Well... There was a scandal back on FF.net in 2014 or 2015? Websites were copying all fanfics to scammy websites or selling fanfics as ebooks. Not cool. I used to have all my content on FF.net, but now only my in-progress fics are there. All my fics are up on AO3.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, not that I know of.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Hey, if someone is offering... But again, no. No one ever wanted to co-write with me. 🥺 But maybe it's because I'm sooooooooo bossy!

What's your all-time favorite ship? Oh crap. All-time favorite?! WHAT. I have to cheat here and say there's a tie: Captain Swan and Jorleesi. Emma Swan and Killian Jones had a long journey to love and happiness, both in terms of their individual character growth and their relationship as a couple. The more I learned about them, the harder I fell in love with them. It helped that the CS fandom was HUGE as the ship became canon, and Tumblr was so active then that #captainswan was all over the place. We were one of the largest canon ships for that show. Now, as for Jorleesi... Jorah Mormont's loyalty and devotion earned my attention and respect from the first, and then when I found out about his love for Daenerys and her repressed love affection for him, I was a goner. My 2 OTPs: both women are BAMFs who are survivors and warriors, while their guys value love above all and are willing to die to protect them (*sobbing for Jorah because noooooooo* 😭)

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Heart Bound. This fic... I love this fic. This is my Jane Eyre/Jane Austen fix. It's my 2nd period piece and I adore some of my prose in this one. It. Needs. 4. Chapters. To. Be. Complete. Can I do it? Yes. Do I want to do it? *cries* Of course I do but it's hard...

What are your writing strengths? Hmm. Some would say it's my prose, while others would say that I know how to channel emotion into my writing. I like to incorporate literature and historical references into my fics (historical AUs or not), so I think I've done well with that. I've also been told that my characterizations are fantastic and unique. You do notice that I'm not claiming credit for any of these observations, right? Usually, I believe my writing is awful and I could have done so much better. I have a hard time acknowledging my strengths. You could hand me an Olympic gold medal for Writing and I would still insist that it's all lies. My self-belief and confidence have not improved over the years.

What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue. It's always dialogue. I want it to be realistic but my vocab gets in the way and it starts sounding like prose. Not good. But I am getting better! No way to go but up.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Maybe I'd do it, but it would have to be necessary for me to put in the effort. I don't purposely bamboozle my readers. 🤣

First fandom you wrote for? Once Upon a Time (of course *rolls eyes*). One Against the Wind is my ultimate period fic - pirates, the Caribbean, my tribute to PotC and pirate novels I've read. I created character backstory when there was no canon backstory. It's also my longest fic at 147K words. So proud of it and it still holds a special place in my heart. 😍

Favorite fic you've written? Ugh, no no no! I always, always say I cannot have one favorite because that is BORING. But okay, I will say that at the moment, it's The Old Curiosity Shop. I just did a full read of the entire fic and my heart absolutely melted. Adorable, heartbreaking, angsty, and so romantic. Jorleesi, I love you and I will die for you. You own my heart a thousand times over. ❤️

WIP Word Game

My word was: MAGIC.

I've currently got two 60k+ wips on the go that I've been working on for over a year. Help. M & A are from a Happy Valley wip, and G, I & C are from a Witcher fic.

Milton avenue is as quiet as she left it the day before. Deserted. As if no one had set foot on the cobbled path she was walking down for a very long time.

A

And she knows that if she dares, if she looks beyond his quiet grin, she'll find the same sadness that had stolen years they might have otherwise spent together.

Guilt blooms in the pit of her stomach as Tissaia braces herself against a pillar, a heaved exhale creating a solitary tear in her evergreen composure.

It is not long before the other follow, cocooning themselves in a ring of defiance, drawing strength from their collective chaos and the coveted presence of their sisters.

Chaos gathers in the hollow dome above their heads, drawn not from the tempting flames but from the cool fabric of night.

10 (and what is the ringtone?), 18, 24 and 34 (I know, you gave me like 4 dates in "With A Bit of Luck" but I want more, Khaleesi) - for Jorah/Daenerys <3

10. Who sets the other’s ringtone to something loud and obnoxious behind their back?

Daenerys changes Jorah’s ringtone to “Call Me Maybe.” He basically has to beg for mercy because he can’t figure out how to change it back. 😂

18. Who gets the window seat?

Daenerys, for security reasons, as Jorah prefers to be sitting between her and the public (also his legs are longer). She loves the views, she dreams of flying all the time.

24. Who’s the better cook?

I honestly suspect this one is a draw. They both ate horse jerky for a pretty extended period, after all, so anything tastes better than that! Daenerys is probably very good at grilling out. 😆 However, everything else is just not that great, and she doesn’t seem to always notice that it isn’t very good, because she was never really able to be picky about food when she was younger. She’s more likely to eat snacks and graze rather than make bigger meals. She does have a sweet tooth but prefers to just buy things because she doesn’t have the patience for baking.

Jorah, on the other hand, was never all that interested in cooking. When he was a soldier he was more interested in just getting fuel into himself as quickly as possible, since he never knew when something could come up. It takes a while to shake that habit. He has learned to make some dishes from Bear Island, which can help if he’s feeling homesick. They’re pretty good but on the heavy side (and Daenerys thinks they’re kind of bland, but it makes him happy).

34. Do they go on dates? What are they like?

Oooh, of course they do - we’ll say this is Dany and Jorah from that particular story, to make my life easier. They’ll always like going out to their favorite pub, especially when there’s music for dancing, and they try different Essosi restaurants all over the city. Daenerys often has social events she needs to attend for work, and sometimes afterwards they get dessert at a cafe in their neighborhood, or even just take a walk together (Jorah keeps a pair of comfortable shoes for her in his trunk). They love having a chance to just talk and decompress. Of course they also go riding together in the countryside with their horses - they like taking a picnic out to a very secluded spot for some alone time. 🐎

Sometimes of course, they just prefer to stay in and cuddle up on the couch. The goal is to cuddle up alone but they always end up with at least one cat interfering. 🐈🐈‍⬛

One time they went with Tyrion, Missandei, Grey, and Doreah to an escape room and the less spoken of that incident the better. 😂
