I don't know why I delayed posting these for so long, but here are the twinning photos in Mille Rose with @fannyrosie 🌹
vkeiprincesse and I went for a house visit back in May, and we had a light afternoon meal with cold tea and lots of delicious cheese! And the lovely Madame Bissonnette was there❤️
Fanny's coord breakdown is here. My coord is much the same, except the underskirt is Mary Magdalene, hair comb Henriette (Japanese indie brand), and our shoes are Fluevog.
6: do you have a favorite lolita/does anyone inspire you?
Yes, lots of people! Maki and Asuka the designers of AP, the kera model Midori... As far as like, lolita who's style I really like... It's kind of weird because when you are new and 'young' to lolita, you look at people and are like 'oh they are so cool, I wish I was that cool', but like, after a decade, I look at people and I'm like "That's my buddy, so-and-so" or "oh my god, the newbies just keep getting younger and younger, I am so old". XD It's just a very different sort of dynamic. But like, all that said, people who really stand out in my mind as people who's style I really like, and have liked over the last like decade, include people like Beescuit, Arthael, idodeclare, MintyMix, FannyRosie, and aerynsys. I also really looked up to caro-chan as a younger lolita and now like, we just know each other? Like IDK. oh! Toshi is cool too! And Avina! And MilaDeBlois! and and and...
11: what's one item you have that you would never sell?
I have a little handmade book necklace that Caro-chan of Fyeah lolita made. Inside it are hand-written notes, autographs, etc from friends I've met through lolita. It's one of my dearest treasures.
19: do you remember the first dress you ever saw? do you still like it?
The short answer is no, I don't remember the first dress I ever saw. I saw the first episode of Le Portrait de Petit Cossette in about 2005 at Otakon, and I saw lolita in Nana as it was published in Shoujo Beat, and I saw advertisements in shoujo beat / at Otakon for Kamikaze girls. I want to say I had a Kamikaze girls poster on my wall, but like, for whatever was on the other side, the Kamikaze girls size was facing the wall. I had online friends who wore lolita and I'm sure I saw photos of them. I also was using lolita items as drawling references for dressup dolls before I was interested in wearing lolita. I have to be clear, in like... 2004-2007-ish? I was exposed to content with lolita in it and I just didn't care. I had no interest in it.
That said, I still have my hard drive from 2008-2009, and these are the things I actually downloaded in my my drawing references that I probably would have considered lolita. I also started to fall in love with lolita while playing poupee girl. But really, it was the OTT sweet prints and bright pink x red stuff AP was doing around 2008-2009 that got me into lolita.
Dream Magic I bought and still own and adore even though it doesn't currently fit me. The bodyline candy skirt I also bought, still have... have multiples of it because I bought the sax instead of the pink and went back to get the pink years later... Most of the rest of this isn't my jam anymore, lol. I like the red x white polkadot skirt?

Casual outfit to meet vkeiprincesse and @fannyrosie for tea.
I'm a real sucker for green tartans and have a number of pieces with this kind of green/navy, but haven't posted many photos of me wearing them for whatever reason.
I'm also a big fan of the colour and unique cut of this Mary Magdalene JSK which was a former wishlist item of mine - and I am very glad to have been able to obtain it!
(Side note - does anyone else who owns this piece know what the snaps on the inside of the hem are for? I thought maybe they would be for positioning the separate underskirt portion just right but mine doesn't have any snaps...)

I’ve been captivated by the idea of historical dress in everyday life since I was a teenager. I even dipped my toes into actually doing it a couple times by making Edwardian walking skirts and getting lacy blouses in my late teens/early twenties but peer pressure eventually made me stop. Fast forward to 2020 and I discovered the CosTube community and the amazing historybounding youtubers that are Bernadette Banner, Morgan Donner, Rachel Maksy, Abby Cox, and Karolina Zebrowska.
I’m 35 and living through plague times with an autoimmune disease so I find myself with a LOT of time alone in my house and the knowledge that this could easily be my last year on earth if I get sick. So screw society and their pressures, I’m gonna dress how I dang well want to. Might as well look and feel fabulous when the world is falling apart around you, right? It’s the little things that get us through. Let’s do this!
I started with a Pinterest board to try and decide how I want my style to look. I needed to narrow down my focus and create a capsule wardrobe to get me started so each piece needs to pair with at least 2 others so I can get multiple outfits out of each piece of clothing. Dresses are great but limit your pairing options so I’ll stick to skirts and blouses for now. But how historical do I want to get with my historybounding? I love floor length skirts but they’re a tad impractical and made me look like I was a super religious conservative or just wearing a costume which isn’t what I’m personally going for.
Okay, so shorter skirts. Maybe below the knee or tea length. The eras I love are basically anything from the Victorian era to the 1950′s. Edwardian shirtwaists with their ruffles, lace, and buttons in the back are gorgeous but I am not very flexible and have no one to do up my buttons for me so I’ll modernize them by making them front buttoning blouses. Yes please to all the lace, ruffles, and pintucks. If I make a couple waistcoats and throw in a couple 40′s and 50′s cardigans, coats/jackets, and accessories then I think my style is really starting to shape up.
And then something occurred to me. While doing these Pinterest searches for inspiration, I notice the blouses and skirts I kept being drawn to were actually Classic Victorian Lolita and Vintage Lolita styles. And when I thought about it I realized I was kinda trying to reinvent the wheel a bit, here. Historybounders are not the first to incorporate history into modern fashion. Lolita, Goth, Steampunk, and Vintage styles have all been doing this for decades already.
And when I looked at some of the outfits in these Classic Lolita substyles, I could see potential. If I lengthened the skirts to below the knee and tea length, got rid of the hoop skirt but kept a petticoat, ruled out super busy prints, and overabundance of accessories and trim... you basically get FannyRosie.

People, this lady is a goddamn style QUEEN! This is exactly what I want! So I’m gonna go on a sewing frenzy making all the Lolita skirts and blouses and pairing it with all the smart, elegant 40′s and 50′s hair, makeup, bags, etc. I’ll make sure to post updates and finished outfits as I go. I am so excited for this!
