GUIDE TO MORI KEI!! 森系
mori kei is one of the many early 2000s subcultures that originated from the harajuku district inspired by living in the woods.
wearers of this type of clothing are usually referred to as mori girl (森ガール) or mori boy (森ボーイ). basically, forest girl/boy.
this subculture is based on nature and gives off a more elven/fae feel, its main color pallet consisting of earth tones, greens, whites, and other soft colors. plaid is a pattern that occasionally appears in mori kei fits, and sometimes baby blues and pinks will appear for a contrast to an outfit.
if you want to look for some clothing that would fit with this aesthetic, look for something loose and natural, and pieces that layer well together. such as a large cardigan/sweater vest that goes well with a frilly dress/skirt and leg warmers and tights. pants may also be used for a more masculine look.
"ゆるふわ" is what the loose layers achieve, hiding the curves of the body and therefore the wearer has a "fluffy" appearance. when layering, make sure to begin with the lightest/thinest layer first, and then move on to heavier materials.
lace, light materials, and embroidered clothes are musts, while accessories such as shawls, tights, and scarfs add to the layered effect.
linen, wool, and cotton are fabrics that are often used. fabrics that drape nicely will be your bff when creating a mori kei outfit.
mori kei is actually quite similar to cottagecore, but while cottagecore is focused on a rural life, mori kei is more based on forests and nature itself.
It also expresses a love of the forest, quiet hobbies, reading, drinking tea, herbalism, and a natural lifestyle.
hair and makeup often match with the almost whimsical and natural look of the outfits. makeup is kept relatively basic, with use of colors such as beige, pinks, and golds. minimalistic igari makeup is a nice example.
DARK MORI KEI/MORI GOTH
a subcategory of mori kei is mori goth, which uses darker, less saturated colors of the usually light color scheme of mori kei. it still follows the same layering scheme and relaxed silhouette, but as of now it has separated into strega, another subculture.
YAMA KEI
a more practical subcategory, usually for fans of the outdoors who love hiking/camping. this includes brighter and more vivid colors while also reverting to more practical clothes.
HAMA KEI
hama kei is a beach-based section, with uses of lighter clothing and less layers, as well as blues and yellows. you'd also see things such as stripes, anchors, and denim to add to the sailor-like outfits

Guide to Building a Classic Wardrobe
I was asked a long time ago by an anon for a guide to build a wardrobe. This style caters to someone mature, slightly conservative, NOT fashionnova-esque, something that will last a long time in all fashion seasons, provided you look after your items well. I live in a relatively hot climate and the coldest temperature I’ve experienced when living in a place is like 10 degree Celsius, so I will admit that I am not very well versed with living in cold climates for a prolonged period of time (I don’t think a 2 week trip to Switzerland in the summer counts as “cold”).
I have purposely built with keeping neutrals in mind. I’ve learned that its best to first build a neutral coloured wardrobe in mind, then start adding colour to it. You might find this wardrobe boring, but if you work in a corporate environment/ somewhere where you can’t showcase too much colour or creativity/ if you come from a relatively conservative/ high profile-but-not-entertainment /modest culture, you’ll find this useful.
ALWAYS keep an eye on the material of the item you are buying. If you have to buy a sweater and you live in a cold climate, buy cashmere. Yes, it will be expensive, but it will keep you warm and last longer. If you live in a hot climate, invest in tops and dresses made out of pure cotton. Material plays a huge role in the climate you live in.
I do not endorse fast fashion or over-consumerism but I understand that it is affordable. I would therefore recommend you to buy things carefully and with consideration, not just for the sake of the environment but for your wallet. It’s better to buy 1 quality item than 10 horribly made, short-lasting items.
Never mix more than 3 colours in your outfit at a time. That’s something my father taught me, and I recommend you stick to it, especially if you’re new to building a serious wardrobe.
Lastly, do not be enthralled by what influencers buy or wear. I can guarantee you that the clothes they wear on Instagram aren’t even theirs half the time. Don’t fall into the trap of micro trends.

🍮 How to start the "kawaii/cutecore" aesthetic!!🧁(in a cheap way..)
🎀 1-Clothes!!
For kawaii clothing, I would recommend stuff like frilly skirt, leg warmers, hairclips, sanrio merch, cozy socks!! And for the shirts & skirts, I recommend the brands mezzo piano, mother garden, daisy lovers, angel blue.(all of them can found in mercari japan.) You can get the socks and accessories from aliexpress & amazon!!
🎀 2-Figures & nendoroids!!
I started my collection with anime figures!! Decorating your room with them helps so much <3 I recommend buying from trustworthy japanese websites like mandarake instead of places like amazon!!
🎀 3- Wall Prints!!
Posters are cute.. but they're too expensive!! So, you can print out your own photos and put it on your wall!! You can make a pinterest board for the photos you will print ♡
🎀 4-Plushies !!
Cute plushies in a kawaii room is a must!! You can decorate your shelves, bed, couch or other things with them <3 As you can see sanrio has a big part on the "kawaii aesthetic" so I recommend buying sanrio plushies mostly my melody ones. If they are too expensive for you, you can buy them second-hand!! I also recommend San-X and gloomy bear plushies.
🧁Remember to be original and focus on what you are interested in!

The basics of the old money aesthetic
So, you need a guide to the old money aesthetic? Whether you see it as your soon-to-be lifestyle or just the way you want to dress? Well, I can totally help you with that but you should understand the basics.
The old money aesthetic is characterized with ideas of prestige families that have had money for decades. when you think of old money you have to take it quite literally, old. Money. Think of the oil tycoons are people who made weaponry in wars or people who have had government connections their whole life and lineage. That is old money .
There are multiple ways of showing old money through specific aesthetics. Each built to showcase a different type of family in a different type of wealth.
Academia
Think of private school, boarding school, etiquette class, coffee early in the morning, straight A’s, library dates, afterschool cafés, School in London, working to please your family. But in the fashion aspect of it all it is truly beautiful but also quite warm. When you think of Old Money academia fashion you will see sweaters, plaid, hounds tooth fabric and Chanel but most important, a bunch of uniforms.
Glamour
Yes, the glitz, glam, silk, satin, purses, dior and gold of it all. The glam look is for the dainty folk. Men included! Clean silhouettes, fresh off the run way clothes and NEVER a sneaker in sight. Glam old money is almost new money in terms of dressing. Switch out slutty for seductive and neons for royal colors.
Old Money Abroad
This is one for the traveling folks! Also kinda for the lazy ones. The old money abroad look is a little more relaxed yet still ready for anything. The cafe life, trying new things, looking around at the scenery and also conveniently renting out a gorgeous house on The countryside with two of your closest friends for 4k a night.

Rouje Denim Guide | Le Madeleine
The cut: A high-rise cut that hugs the waist, a straight fit that lengthens the leg and refines the silhouette, and the signature full-length seam fold.
For who? Those who want to feel like they're gaining a few inches when they put on their jeans. Like the Montmartre, the Madeleine is long enough to cover the ankle.
Size advice: Nothing to note on this model, take your usual size.
