1. Favorite instrument?

I work at a music store u can’t just ask me this. When my coworkers play it’s the saxophone or the flute, when the boys in the repair shop are testing repairs and they harmonize with each other or try to outplay one another it’s the bassoon or the trombone or whatever they’re fixing at the moment. When I hear 🎺 give his lesson on Wednesday afternoons it’s the trumpet, and when I think about middle school it’s the clarinet, the flute, the French horn. When I hear the nutcracker pas des deux is the oboe and when I hear edith piaf l’accordeoniste it’s the remarkable human voice. Really my favorite instrument is all of them, it just depends.

Um okay so I’ll go with explaining BTS and TXT I guess, haha. For BTS it was DNA! That was the first mv I ever saw by them and I was instantly obsessed with everything about it. For TXT, it was obviously Crown since I was keeping an eye on them as soon as BH announced a new group haha. But I initially loved the super bright and happy concept from Crown and they totally got me hooked by their personalities and other music!!

This took way more digging in my mind than I would like to admit but when I saw 5sos live in 2016 my best friend and I had soundcheck, so we got to sit in the venue early and ask them questions and hear a few extra songs. At the time I had beef with Luke Hemmings (because the girl he was dating at the time was one of the most toxic people on earth) and he wouldn’t break up with her. So the girl sitting next to me at soundcheck raised her hand to ask Luke a question so of course he was looking basically right at me. We were like maybe 8 rows back from the stage and at this point in my life I had bright pink hair, so there was no missing me. So this girl is asking her innocent question, and naturally Luke looks around a bit and we make eye contact and instead of fangirling like a normal person, my anger at him boiled over and I ended up flipping him off. The whole band noticed and had to pretend they weren’t laughing at the oddly aggressive 9th grader who flipped off their lead singer. I still feel bad about it to this day lmao but all my friends think it’s hilarious and it’s definitely my go to party story.

The US education system has massive holes. I was lucky enough to attend a pretty good highschool and take good classes so I don’t feel like I was as robbed as other people, but there are curriculum gaps and misinformation everywhere you go. As far as college goes, I think it is wayyyy too expensive. Despite that, I still signed myself up for 8 years of debt so yes, I am a slave to the GPA. Gotta go hard for the dream job.

Appearance:

Head: Lola is what you call a tall glass of water. She’s refreshingly attractive. Her eyes are neither blue or green but a weird combination of the two colors, making them pop against her naturally darkened complexion. Her hair is soft and wavy and like to tangle near the ends by the time Lola is out of school and on the way to work. It’s color likes to change with the rare sunlight, meaning if she is outside in the sun all day every day natural highlights will appear in her honey chestnut tresses. Her nose is like a little button that deserves to be booped constantly. Her lips are full and plump- to that she owes genetics. Lola believes it is her only good trait.

Body: A natural looker. She stands at about 5'8, so be prepared if you’re tiny. She will tower you with her legs for DAYS.  She doesn’t have particularly large assets but they are there. And it’s a nice handful on either side of the equator. You just gotta look for them behind her non-stop barrage of sweaters. She likes to say she has a white girl booty- its cute && snooty. Her shoulders and cheeks are very, very, lightly dusted in freckles you can only see in the winter. Despiter her tall figure, Lola is NOT a bean pole, she’s slim thicccc weighing about 145 pounds and it’s not in her face.

Style: Lola dresses like she lives in Goodwill, trendy and thrifty. She would kill for knee socks and button up blouses. She aims to look like ‘The classic look of a teenager in the 90’s’. Her shoes will never don a heel for she believes she is 'too tall’ for them. She likes to keep a mellow color scheme for all her clothing items. Tan, green, white. Sometimes she looks like the first instagram post you see tagged * v i n t a g e. *

Personality: 

First off let’s get this straight, with Lola it’s not a personality but more of how she adopts a personality to fit each social clique she is suckered into that day. If you dig deeep deeeeeep down pass the meme references and pop culture shout outs- she’s awfully shy and hates making the first move in ANY kind of situation. She is sympathetic to most of the problems she hears- other than relationship ones. What’s a feeling for someone else other than your cat? She doesn’t get it. Skittish doesn’t even cover how much of a fraidy cat she is.. One little boo when she’s not expecting it is enough to get Lola to shriek and jump three feet into the air. She does have a nuturing instinct, finding it rather difficult to see anyone lonely or upset.

Once you get to know Lola, she is a sweetheart with a soul of gold. She would freeze in the frigid temperatures to keep her friend warm. She’s the girl who will sneak you into her house so you dont have to go home if you’re scared too or can’t. She is quite snarky however- as if a dam broke and every witty thought ever spun in her head rushes out. Once you get her talking about something she is personally interested in, good luck shutting her up. Lola is also a very superstitious person. Never one too step on a crack or split a pole. Her biggest quirk would have to be her need for reassurance that her jokes are funny. She thinks of herself as a comedian but is already sure everyone thinks she is trying too hard. She is a rather dull girl on the outside, moody and solemn. But if you can crack into her cold shell there’s an ooey gooey sweetness inside. Lola is often easily upset- movies to road kill make her tear up. Anytime she even gets mad the salry reminders if her lameness well up in her eyes. And that only pisses her off more.

Despite having a cool exterior she can and will snap- just push the right buttons. 

History:

Lola wouldnt deem herself an outcast yet she would always feel that way. Whether she was cheering with the girls or writing lists with Jenny, her feelings were uncontrollable. Her anxiety makes it impossible to determine if someone is being nice to her or if they have a plot to harm her. In middle school, Lola secretly dreamt of becoming a goth kid- going as far as painting her nails black for two years. But her fears never made her set out to do it. Plus everyone was a little then so isn’t that technically confirming? Her school work was the only thing Lola was ever certain in. Work was easy, you couldn’t fuck it up by being a complete oddball. It was practically memorization. After starting high school, Lola was practically a wallflower. Hell she was the wall and the flower all wrapped in one. She dropped every friendship and dedicated herself to her studies and her pets. After she got a job she was allowed to have them finally and her fur babies were the only things she cared about truly and deeply. For they could never hate their mother.

Things were always tough for Lola, socially or economically, but that didn’t mean her childhood sucked. It just meant instead of a Barbie dreamhouse for Christmas she got the summer edition Barbie. Not a house. Just the doll. Jealousy is an emotion often clouding her anxieties and judgement on people. It caused her to lose her best friend since.. Well, as long as she could remember. Lola grew jealous and almost possessive over Jenny. She probably didn’t mean too but when she saw Jenny getting along with people when she couldnt caused a burning rage to settle in her chest. It got so bad Lola didnt even speak to anyone for a week before blowing up and ruining her only real friendship.

Just because she looks innocent doesn’t mean the brunette is. There are probably a few flat tires and keyed cars residing in South Park that are Lola’s own doing. Not to mention she is a total bystander. You wanna skip school? Cool, yeah I’ll watch for a teacher. You wanna smoke pot in the bathroom? It’s all good as long as she gets a hit. These are all childish 'bad behaviors’ but as Lola sees it, there’s no point in trying that hard to be bad. After all the one time she tried it, the poor thing almost died from hypothermia after blindly listening to a slumber party dare.

You aren’t supposed to sneak out in slumber parties. Or streak in Wal-Mart. Or jump of a bridge into negative temp waters. But these are all things Lola did too prove she was cool. And it ended up with her grounded, being hospitalised for pneumonia, and gaining a large fear of heights. And a hatred for party games.

Of course, it was another cold blustery day. Chestnut tresses fluttered in front of her sight along the whole way home, it didn’t matter how many times she forcefully blew the bangs out of her face- they always flopped back down. Numbing fingers clutched tighter to the soft cloth lining of her jacket pockets. The index fingers and thumbs of both hands pinching at the materiel. Gosh- why is it always freezing? Dull orbs flittered around the blank scenery of the all too familiar path from her house to the school. The only sounds Lola could hear were the crunching of her flats against the snow and the wind whipping furiously around her. Boring. It was all white and boring. Lola was tired of being bored. She imagined that would be the only feeling she could muster for the rest of her life and it made the corners of her glossed lips tug down.

She shook her head as if to clear the thoughts instantly, humming a tune to distract herself as she continued on her trek.

One step, two step, three step…

…Sixteenth step-

Lola really needed a friend. A small sigh lifted her chest and as it billowed past her mouth she noticed movement in her peripherals. Was she really looking down this whole time like an idiot? How embarrassing! She clenched her hands into fists, further rumpling the jacket from its own pockets. Avoiding any kind of eye contact she swayed over to the side near the street and hurried her steps along. Too fast to count now. She passed the figure and her hands slowly unfurled. The blood rushing to her digits made them quite warm and her face flushed as well. God she was awkard.

Just as she thought she was in the clear, Lola felt a tap on her shoulder and her heart stuttered in its cavity as she stumbled to a stop. Fuck.

-    Bigbang: my og group, they got me really into kpop. What I love most about them is probably how incredibly creative all of their work is. They’ve gotten to a point where you never really know what to expect, all you know is that it’s going to be good. They can go for any style of music from soft ballads to hella pumped up beat drops and still kill it every damn time. Each member has their strong points and interests so they’ve all gone off and done their own thing but they can still come together and do amazing shit, their unity amazes me. Also ji and tabi have such interesting minds I wish I could crawl into their fascinating minds and just live there

-    Day6: tHESE KIDS!!!! Words cannot describe how much I love day6. I would die for them 93895 times over. First of all, can we please talk about the music?? I love how he’s basically three people/perspectives jammed into one body all interacting with each other. It’s bonkers

His speech is black box, echoing white text (so, kinda the inverse of RGB) and I love how clock hands act as tails, joining boxes from one to the other to easier follow the flow of his speech

His domain is apparently outside of the Make Believe? like, in this weird inbetween-

BUT BACK ON TIME’S HANGOUT BEING INBETWEEN WORLDS- Hate’s hangout is also like this. we enter/exit the Make Believe through these golden doors, Dial ALSO exits the comic by walking through a door. a far more hidden one, but same principle. Makes you wonder if Time also has a method of cutting you out of the story like Hate did to Jules and Melody

Is Time literally telling me that the reason RGB bleeds out of his face is because he is emotionally constipated on a chronic level? That’s amazing. That’s incredibly on brand for RGB

So, honestly, paying for Madras’ wares with pints of color is probably kinda good for him. Let out your feelings a little

this is also a super neat example of using page composition to tell us which Time is speaking, and using the growth state of antlers as another visual cue.

Do you prefer traditional drawing, or digital?

I used to start my drawings on paper, then scan them in to finish, but I’m pretty much strictly digital now. Sometimes I’ll still sketch a thing on paper first, but I much prefer digital.

How long have you been drawing?

I can’t really pinpoint when I actually started, but somewhere between 10-12? Though I didn’t seriously get into it more until I was around 14 or so, I guess. So quite a while.

How many classes have you taken?

None. Self taught from the get go

Do you have a DeviantArt, personal website, or art blog?

I started with dA, I had several accounts there. Tumblr is my main source now. (though I guess Instagram too, but I’m using that for WIPs, mostly)

What’s your favorite thing to draw?

OC’s, in general. But specifically I do like doing eyes a lot.

What’s your least favorite thing to draw?

Animals, and wrists. I can never really grasp wrists lol.

How often do you use references?

A lot of the time I do. I have a folder full of stuff.

Do you draw professionally, or just for fun?

Just for fun. I don’t want to turn it into a career, despite everyone around me telling me to. It would ruin it for me and kill the motivation. I’m fine with just taking commissions.

How much time do you spend drawing on an average day?

It’s very sporadic. It could be several, it could be one. Usually one big piece takes me a couple days because I’m always on and off with them.

Are you confident about your art?

Not very, but what artist is truly ever confident tbh lol.

Ehh... not many tbh. I kinda forget who I’m even following in the first place.

Is it okay for people to ask you about your process?

I guess so, if they really want to see how scattered and unprepared it is.

Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people?

I like drawing for myself, mostly, but I’ll sometimes draw for others or do trades etc. I don’t mind it so much. I just have to be reallllllllly in the mood for it.

Do you ever collaborate with others?

Like I said above, I’ll sometimes do trades or collabs, though they’re pretty rare. All you gotta do is ask, lol. The worst I can say is “not right now”

How long does an average piece take you to complete?

Again like I said earlier, it can take a couple hours or a couple days. Depends on my motivation, which fluctuates a lot.

Do you draw more today than you did in the past, or do you draw less?

I stopped drawing on average for a couple of years in my early 20′s because I was busy with life and doing other things of interest, so I’d say I’m doing a whole lot more than I did then. Comparable to when I was a teen, I guess.

Do you think you’re justified in giving other people art advice?

Lmao no, not really. I hardly even know what I’m doing myself. If I’m asked how I do something I’ll share, but I can’t give any like.. real anatomy or composition advice.

What are you currently trying to improve on?

Uhhh... posing, expressions, I guess. I’ve always stuck to static, boring, standing poses. I’m not really into action stuff as much as I am concepts and outfits etc.

What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?

Two people together, kissing poses, certain sitting poses, dynamic angles

What is the easiest thing for you to draw?

3/4 facing left headshot/bust of slightly smiling OC

Do you like to challenge yourself?

Sometimes I try to, but I usually fall back into my comfort zone. I’ve never really pushed myself too hard.

Are you confident that you’re improving steadily?

Though I’m still not happy with where I’m at, I know that I am further than where I was, so there’s that.

Do you draw more fanart, or more original art?

I did do a lot of fanart for a time, but I’ve always stuck to original stuff more. I get more satisfaction out of it, even if it hardly gets any notes.

Do you feel jealous when you see other people’s art, or inspired? (Be honest!)

I’ll be very honest and say that I do get extremely jealous (or maybe envious?) of art that is better than mine, sometimes. Especially if the person is a lot younger than I am. It’s no fault on them, but it makes me think of how I should’ve spent more time practicing or just drawing in general after all these years and like I’ve just wasted my time fiddling my thumbs. (so it’s basically just my fault)

It’s really petty, I know, but I am a fairly jealous person to begin with tbh. I do get inspired other times, though. It’ll make me want to get up and start a new piece and try something new.

Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?

Always have music on. If it’s dead silence there’s no inspiration for me. The music I have on heavily influences the outcome or theme of a piece.

Ehh... I’ve definitely gone over the SAI layer limit so.. a lot.

What inspires you to not just make art, but to be a better artist?

I don’t really know. I’ve always just done it for fun, never professionally. I usually just do OC’s and nothing very dynamic. I just like seeing the things I think up have an actual manifestation in shapes and colors. That’s really how I’ve always seen it. I only want to get better so that I can pull off some of the more harder things my mind comes up with.

I got that all the time when they had it during the summer. its pretty tasty.peruvian lily: what are the names of your pets?: I have two cats named Josie and Jewels and a crowntail betta named Mahoney. me and my roommate share another crowntail betta named Nemo (because his tail fin is fucked up. I think it was almost completely ripped off or he chewed it off out of stress, but we aren’t sure. we had to rescue him from Walmart because he was floating on the bottom of his dinky little cup and he barely had any energy. thankfully, he started eating almost immediately when we brought him home and he’s swimming around a lot better.). my roommate has her own betta named Bartholomew, and we are also trying to adopt a fourth betta, as well. so we will have Bart, Mahoney, Nemo, and whatever the fourth fish is named. we are trying to adopt the fourth betta from a woman who doesn’t treat the betta very well and wants to get rid of it anyway.hyacinth: do you name your plants?: yup. the older cactus is Ghurt, the younger is Ellha. French fries are so dry on their own.
