Hi, my friend is asking why there are so many maribat fics, and especially with DamiMari.
Maybe you know about the history of these crossovers in Batman Fandom?
Hi!
(Fellow Maribat fans, feel free to add your own commentary or correct any of my mistakes.)
So @/ozmav created the Damian x Marinette ship in 2018, I think? It was just a fun little crossover that blew up and became really popular. I was not around either of those fandoms at the time, so I'm not sure about all the details.
Daminette was the first Maribat ship created, so it was around the longest, and thus accumulated the most works.
Eventually, the other Bat Boys got their own ship, and now the Maribat (or now, more technically, DCxMLB) fandom has so many more ships and crossovers -not necessarily between the Bat/MLB main characters.
Some rarepair ships (any DCxMLB ship not between one of the four main Bat Boys and Marinette) include Konette (Conner Kent/Superboy and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Timdrien (Tim Drake/Red Robin and Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir), to name a couple.
The Maribat fandom also crosses over with multiple fandoms, like DPxDCxMLB or MCUxDCxMLB.
Some pure MLB and DC stans definitely dislike Maribatters, especially during the beginning of the fandom, when the tags for both fandoms were cluttered with DCxMLB content. Now that it's grown so much and has its own tags, I think the hate has calmed down somewhat. (Although, I prefer to keep out of fandom drama, so I may simply have missed the hateful discourse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.)
Overall, the Maribat fandom has really grown from a crack ship to its own large, well-populated community. There are tags on Ao3 and many discord servers, which runs events such as "Jasonette July" and "Maribat? Get In! [a server] Civil War".
On a personal note:
As to my thoughts on the ships themselves, my favorites are Daminette (Damian Wayne/Robin and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Jasonette (Jason Todd/Red Hood and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug). It's always fascinating to rotate a character or ship in your head like a rotisserie chicken, considering their Canon and Fanon traits and then exploring them in whatever medium you choose (my medium of choice is writing fanfiction).
For Daminette, the ship you specifically asked about, I am drawn to it because I find the differences between the couple adorable. I personally have a fondness for the Grumpy x Sunshine trope, a Tsundere male lead, and relationship/character growth. (Of course, sometimes it's nice just to read a cute 500 word drabble with no plot, no specific dynamics, and no development, where the couple is just cute and happy.)
I think that is one of the beauties of Maribat. With so many various ships and characters to choose from, there's something for everyone, and we can all bond over belonging to the same fandom(s). Some of us have joined from the MLB side, some from the DC side, some just got dragged in by a friend and have no knowledge of either fandom, and that's okay! With so much to explore in both fandoms, there is constantly new content* being made with love (and tears. And laughter, both evil and joyful. And hornin-).
I've made some of my best friends through this fandom, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
I hope this helps, and I apologize if my ramblings detracted from my answers!💜
*Yes, I am aware of the popular Tropes such as "Akuma Class Trip to Gotham" and "Long-Lost Wayne".

Do you have any advice on responding on commenters on fics. I want to interact with commenters but I don’t know what to say and I feel awkward doing it.
Ooooh alright, I feel you LOL. Bad news is that it does still feel kind of awkward to me, because I'm BAD at taking compliments and I never feel like the way I answer can properly convey how excited I am that this person liked what I wrote... but, to be fair, I don't think ANY answer could really capture that excitement LOL.
Still, I do answer comments as a general rule, so hopefully I can be of some help anyway! And of course, if anyone else has any suggestions feel free to drop them in the replies or in a reblog.
So.
There is no real “rule” for answering comments, I think it’s important to remember that it doesn’t need to be a formal interaction, you are just two people with a shared love for some characters/ships (A LOT of love, I’m assuming, considering that one of you is writing fics and the other is taking the time to interact with said fics), so try to treat it like a casual conversation, not a performance!
Also very important to remember, what you are doing when you are answering a comment is, at its core, giving validation to the reader. You are letting them know that you appreciate their comment and that you wanted to take the time to say thank you, which readers, in my experience, DO appreciate very much. So like, even just saying “Thank you very much!” or “Thank you, I’m happy you enjoyed it!” is a good answer that is nice to receive. This kind of answer is a good baseline for answering comments imo, if you can’t think of anything else to say just leave it at that! Just like a short comment is very much appreciated and way better than no comment, a short answer is very much appreciated and way better than no answer.
And if you fear that you are being too repetitive in your answers, remember that you are the one writing ten answers in a row, the reader is only getting one thank you!
Still, if you want to come up with more elaborate answers, I’d say try to “mirror” what the comment said.
Meaning that, for example, if someone points out a line they liked, you can thank them for the compliment on that, or say that you are happy they liked that, or, if you can, add some commentary on it (which in my case would be about the thought process behind the line, or about what’s going with the characterization, or something along the lines of “LOOOL yes, they are idiots”).
Or, if someone points out something else that they specifically liked, for example a scene, or bits of characterization, you can discuss those, for example by sharing what you think was going on in the non-POV character’s head during that scene, or discussing how else that scene could have played out by changing certain details, or discuss headcanons that you have related to the fic, maybe what would happen after or what was happening during a time jump, etc (readers, as a general rule, do love to hear about this kind of stuff!).
And, again, it doesn’t have to be formal! Since I have the charming bad habit of writing a lot of pain, sometimes people leave me crying emojis and/or screams as a reaction (which, btw, is DELIGHTFUL LOOOL) and my answer tends to be something along the lines of “SORRY, MY BAD *collects your tears in a jar*”, so like. there LOL.
Also, I had never thought about this before, but you can add pictures/memes/gifs to your reply if those help you express your feelings, that could be fun! (Maybe I should try too loool)
It’s also nice, imo, when a reader leaves a row of comments, to let them know in one of your answers how much you appreciated that! Let them know if you grinned for an hour, if you kept checking for notifications and were delighted when you saw them leaving more and more comments, if you were having a bad week and that was an excellent pick-me-up, etc. (letting them know how they made you feel could be a good idea in general, even if you are answering just the one comment).
That is pretty much all that I can think of at the moment, hopefully there’s something useful in here loool Mostly I think it’s just a matter of trying to let yourself have fun with it, it’s not serious, it’s not a performance, you are fine! <3 (Said the extremely anxious bean, very hypocritically. I swear I’m getting better at letting myself go LOL)

DCAU Rewatch: Batman the Animated Series 10: Two-Face part 1
The race for District Attorney is putting a strain on Bruce Wayne’s friend Harvey Dent, leading to unpredictable bursts of rage. When the mob gets a hold of Dent’s psychiatric records, it may be too much for this heroic lawman’s fragile mind.
Tumblr media
Credits
Story by Alan Burnett
Teleplay by Randy Rogel
Directed by Kevin Altieri
Music by Shirley Walker
Animation Services by Tokyo Movie Shinsha Co., LTD.
Two-Face part 1 stands out as the first Great episode of Batman: The Animated Series. First and foremost is how incredible it looks. Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (TMS), one of the very best animation companies on the planet Earth, this is leaps and bounds above anything that came before it visually. Characters are expressive and move with a natural fluidity and consistency of model. It’s not perfect, the suits look extra baggy and TMS can’t help but add some extra lines to Timm’s minimal designs, but it works quite well when we get closeups of Dent’s face contorted in anger.
The two-part approach to the origin of this character benefits the story immensely. For the transformation to feel emotionally impactful at all, we need time to buy into the friendship between Harvey and Bruce. We have seen that a little bit in previous episodes, which helps sell it here as well. That allows the creators to weave Harvey’s descent into madness slowly over the course of 20 minutes and reveal that the rage and darkness was always inside him even before his face burned. Two-Face is not physically present in this episode at all, until the final 30 seconds, though his distinct personality threatens to break free all throughout the episode. All Dent really needed was a push–an excuse–to let “Big Bad Harv” out. Having nearly 20 full minutes of Dent as a sympathetic character struggling with his dark impulses makes the final moment of the episode–where Two Face is finally revealed–all the more powerful. There’s not much action in this episode (and what fights there are mostly happen off-screen) but the weight of that silent climactic moment of horror hits harder than any punch could. Of course, there’s also the poetic perfection of the Two-Face origin being two episodes.
For what is ostensibly a children’s show produced in the early 90s, the portrayal of therapy and dissociative personality disorder are both handled with surprising delicacy. There’s a nice message about therapy not being something to feel shame over and that it is in fact a brave choice to accept you need help. To have those words come out of Bruce Wayne’s mouth is particularly powerful. Ultimately, Dent’s psychosis is presented as a tragedy and not a moral failing. I won’t venture to say it handles it perfectly, but it is certainly done intentionally and sympathetically. It’s heavy subject matter, particularly for a show that had to sell action figures....
Read the FULL commentary and analysis about what makes this episode so memorable and, dare I say, groundbreaking on PATREON!

I was going to add a comment to your post about ST:PIC, but I felt maybe this was too long and personal of a comment. And I don't even need a response if you don't feel like giving one. But I wanted to say, I understand, at least a little. When the DS9 episode with Jadzia's same sex kiss aired the first time on live TV, I was watching, and my mother turned it off and said it was disgusting. It's not like I was a little kid either - I was a teenager. I didn't see the end of that episode until it was streaming on Netfix decades later. My mother watched TOS when she was younger, so you would think that she would've understood that Star Trek likes being on the cutting edge of social commentary.
Anyway that was almost 30 years ago and I wish the real world had changed more in that time. I'll also add that my mom turning off the TV that day didn't stop me from eventually thinking that both Bashir and Jadzia were the best looking actors on the show. That weren't Romulans.
Thank you so much for sending me this, my friend. 💜 I hope you’re okay with me responding to this publicly (if you’re not, please let me know and I’ll take it down asap). Seriously, this message and all the other responses I’ve gotten have been really positive, so thank you! 💖
I’ve been trying to think of a reply to this beyond a simple ‘thank you,’ because I definitely want to make sure what I say is meaningful (especially given the personal nature of your message). Because this message 100000% deserves a meaningful response. This is a really important topic.
It’s nice to know I’m not alone. I mean, obviously, I’m sorry you had to go through that, of course, but thank you for taking the time to tell me about your experience. Moments like both yours and mine aren’t pleasant, but they do serve to illustrate a couple points.
I’m gonna pop them under a readmore. This is just a little dig for a silver lining to all this. Feel free to ignore if you like. I just felt rambly and had a few thoughts bouncing around in my head.
1.) Reassuring Non-Uniqueness - Almost anything you go through has been gone through before. I’m not downplaying anyone’s experiences by any means! Own your story! It’s your own! Your experiences are important! What I do mean is that if you’re looking for a solution to a problem you’re facing, there are likely a lot of people who can tell you what they did/how they faced a similar problem. You can learn from their experiences and take comfort in the fact that someone knows how you’re feeling (or at least have a pretty good idea of what you’re going through). You’re never alone. There are people who’ve been where you are and who will stand with you. (Also, you can make some pretty awesome friends in the process.)
2.) Failure To Replicate - Hatred and bigotry are obviously bad things. Do I even need to say that? Hopefully, people know that already. For the sake of my sanity, I’m going to assume people do know that. Once you get to a certain point, you start to realize that if you’re recognizing hatred/intolerance in your parents that you don’t share, while the hatred is bad, by simply recognizing that you don’t share it, that means their attempts to teach you to be intolerant like them have failed. Instead of raising their kids to be exactly like them, the goal of every good parent should be to raise their kids to be good people. As long as people keep failing to raise their kids to be hateful like them, the number of kind people in the world will keep growing. [insert “Task Failed Successfully” meme here]
I know this isn’t like...a super comprehensive essay, but I did want to toss out my two cents in case it helps someone.
...Also, on a less serious note: You’re very right, Julian and Jadzia are both SUPER ATTRACTIVE. *giggles in bisexual*

hey! im quite new here and i have seen a lot of talk about readers interactions and i was wondering what is the best way to support my favorite writers (like you) because i think i have been doing this wrong and i really want to support writers who do this<3 ps. sorry if that was confusing, english isnt my first language
not confusing at all babes! you're 100% clear.
also can i just say, i very much appreciate you asking this. i would much rather more people speak up and be like "hey, we dont know the best way to support our favorite writers so how can we?" other than just. Not Knowing and Not Doing Anything.
so, im going to speak from my own personal experience but also what ive seen many of my mutuals/writers i follow talk about. this might get a little long but i wanna answer as thoroughly as i can because people should know!
im putting it under a read more because it got hella long, but please i encourage everyone who reads fics but don't interact to read and consider these things.
fellow writers i encourage you to reblog and add any other commentary you think is helpful!
before anything else (this is absolutely not directed at you, anon, you're perfect), i just want to get this out of the way. never come to a writer's blog and get angry with them for complaining about lack of engagement. like jesus christ. writers are putting hours of work on tumblr for you for free. the least we ask is for comments and reblogs. that's it. if you go and act shitty towards writers who ask for more engagement, yet still follow and wait for the next fic, like what are you even doing bro. just stop.
anyway. now let's get to the actual question!
basically all writers on tumblr will agree, reblogs are vital. and i feel like that gets said a lot but maybe people dont actually understand how impactful it is so lemme give an example.
so let's say hypothetically i have 100 followers. that is 100 potential people who see a fic that i post (i say potential because timezones exist so you might not see it as it's posted)
and let's say one of my followers (Person A) reblogs it, and they have 50 followers. that's 50 more people that can read the fic.
and let's say Person B followers Person A and they also reblog it to their 50 followers.
with only two people reblogging a fic, that's already doubling the number of people who have read the fic.
now imagine Person C followers Person A and reblogs the fic, and Person C has like, 1,000 followers. that's so much more exposure for the writer.
and that's only from two followers of the writer. so imagine if all 100 that read the fic reblogged it? the numbers skyrocket at an exponential rate.
plus, more people reading means that the writer could get more people follow them. so they get a more consistent audience.
likes, on the other hand, do not guarantee this exposure. i would say that most people don't have their likes public on tumblr. and also, even if they do, i know that I'm not about to scroll through people's likes rather than scrolling thru their blogs. likes up the notes, and that's about it. of course i understand liking a fic so you can come back to it later, i do that all the time. but if I've liked a fic, i always reblog it once I've read it.
now, say you're reading hardcore smut that you might not want on your main blog for whatever reason, so that's why you don't reblog a fic. look, i get it. sometimes irl people follow your blog, or sometimes you just don't want people to know what you're getting up to. but that's why i made a sideblog specifically for fics.
this entire blog BEGAN as a way for me to reblog fics i liked. and then it grew and grew and grew into all this. not saying that you have to start writing if you do that of course, but i guarantee, i'd rather see a small sideblog blog with like 3 followers reblog my fic than a blog just like the fic and leave. because that's still 3 more people who will see my fic and possibly read it and reblog it. 3 is better than none.
comments. reblogs are important, but comments are really what keep writers writing. they inspire us with new ideas, help figure out what it is that people enjoy from us, help us improve our writing, and most importantly, they make us feel good. and like writing and posting is worth it.
now, i know that sometimes it can feel awkward reblogging with a comment directly on the post. i even usually don't do that unless it's with a friend. but here are some alternatives/tips!
send an ask or DM! if you're really intimidated, sending an anonymous message is by far the easiest way to bypass that awkwardness.
write in the tags!! i cannot express this enough. comment in the tags. ramble about the fic. just put three tags worth of screaming. literally ANY comments in the tags are my favorite thing. i promise you that writers will scroll thru like basically every tag.
also, if they post it on both tumblr and ao3, don't feel weird about giving a little comment on both! i do that all the time. you can even be like 'hey i read this on tumblr first but wanted to say again how much i enjoyed it' and that is like, heart burstingly nice to hear.
also, if you're having trouble coming up with something to say, my like top commenting tip as both a writer and a reader is point out something specific that you like about the fic. when i comment on a fic (this is moreso when i comment on ao3 bc my comments are always longer there) i try to point out a particular line i like. literally if you just copy and paste it and go 'wow i really really like this line especially' that is the number one way to a writer's heart. seriously. it's the simplest thing, but it makes SUCH an impact.
however, if your comments are only asking for more fics, then that's not a comment, that's a request (which not all writers take).
saying something like 'hey i loved this fic a lot! if you have more in store for this in the future, i'd be really excited to read it!' is a million times better than 'will you do a part 2'. i know they don't sound that different, but i promise you that the tone makes a big difference.
(i honestly have more thoughts about good ways to get over commenting fear/know what exactly to comment that doesn't feel generic, so if people would like me to make another post about it i'd do it.)
and last but not least, if the writer has a way to donate, like a ko-fi, that always is so appreciated. of course, take care of yourself first, but if you have a few bucks and wanna show some support to your faves, that's a great way to help :)
oh! also, if the writer ever reblogs those little ask game things, just send them something! engagement outside of writing is also so much appreciated.
i think that's about everything i can think of! i hope this is helpful and that my explanations weren't confusing (if i need to clarify anything let me know). and again, thank you so much for asking! even doing that shows that you're a reader who cares, and that means the world ❤

Two guilds, one cause group commentary
Tumblr media
Super sorry for being super super late.  Here’s the commentary about the guild colab cards.
Tumblr media
@dumbellsndragons First of quite a lot split/aftermath cards for this contest! I was quite surprised! Beast is not much but it’s an honest spell. The real deal is Breakfast! It essentially doubles the power of your board, by splitting it to 2/2 bodies that can in turn trigger various etb effects. Temporary buffs, (bloodrush anyone?) can play a huge roll on how many tokens you can make!
Tumblr media
@i-am-the-one-who-wololoes Misjudged this one, took it for an Izzet Simic spell, while it’s actually an Izzet Gruul one that plays into the destroy to create mentality of the two guilds. While witty and creative, this spell feels a little too specific. It definitely has a fun side but I fear people would use it more as a combo piece.
Tumblr media
@abzanhero Sel-gari was a very popular combination and Rotweaver is a very nice example on how those two guilds could interact. It fills the graveyard, cares about the graveyard and has the potential to make HUGE tokens for you to populate. All that in the expense of immediate impact on the board, but I asked for kitchen table EDH cards, and this fits the category very well.
Tumblr media
@helloijustreadyourpost I love the throwback to popular EDH cards like Savra and the first print of Teysa that care about the color of creatures you control.  That said, I am not a fun of the limitations on the card, as I view more like a Yu-gi-oh design than an mtg card, where usually the only limitation is the cost of the card.
Tumblr media
@bioodprice Great control card but the two triggers feel conflicted as the one taps a creature, and the other punishes the players for having untapped creatures. Either way, it has good pillowfort potential as it can hinder both voltron strategies and punish token based decks.
Tumblr media
@dimestoretajic Great tempo card, would do wonders in limited enviroments. Lorewise, it’s sad to see that guilds consume their messengers. If this trend continues, Vivien will surely pay Ravnica a visit XD
Tumblr media
@ghoulcaclulator64 First of all, congratulations for going the extra mile and made your own artwork for the card! It’s really cool!
On to the ability of the card, its very well stated and it has great combo potential with all the copy effects of blue and red that can help you create an army of deadly blasters. I am not sure whether you wanted the trigger to work with spells any player controls or not, but all in all I find Whip-Walker an interesting design!
Tumblr media
@kytheon4-4 Great flavor text that fits the theme of the design challenge 150%! Also a quite impactful card on a tri colored creature deck of all shapes and sizes. If mentor returns, it could definitely appear on Green creatures, or creatures of any color, like Exalted
Tumblr media
@hypexion When you’re a Gorgon with a Biology major, there’s no need to stay in the undercity XD In general I like the use of ability counters, and this applies here as well. The +1/+1 counter would serve as a reminder for the deathtouch counter, though I must complain that Mila herself doesn’t have deathtouch but has to work for it like a guildless peasant.
Tumblr media
@yourrightfulking For GGUURR you get two cards and at least a 2/2 body plus 2 damage wherever you want. This is an insanely good deal, and this being an instant means that you can also mess up combat big time. I wouldn’t call the card broken in any way but I feel there should be some moderation, maybe the damage affect players and planeswalkers? But that’s me nitpicking, all in all pursuit of perfection was a very nice entry for the contest.
Tumblr media
@nine-effing-hells In a similar vein, from a mechanical standpoint, chorus of battle offers +4/+4 , with the additional trample and lifelink. Comparison with Titanic Ultimatum is inevitable, and it offers a lot more for an additional mana. I think here it should be safer if the play was asked to offer a single R and W to get the bonus and not the double colors which add a lot of weight to the card without clear benefit.
Tumblr media
@misterstingyjack The design challenge was meant for you to design tri colored cards. There were a few color matters submissions, but this is the best “rulebreaker” and who’s a better rulebreaker than a goblin gang that pays homage to Shattergang Brothers A really cute card whose effects are relevant  in an EDH game, especially the green one. Death to the mana rocks!
Tumblr media
@grornt Great revisiting of Graft and I love the fact that with haste, the total damage you can do to the opponent doesn’t change as you pass around your counters! Interestingly, Riot and Bloodthirst also operate with +1/+1 counters so this beasty truly unites Simic and Gruul!
Tumblr media
@hiygamer If there’s one thing “cannon” in this challenge, it’s that the Selesnya and the Golgari will rebuild Vitu-Ghazi! The abilities and the overall flavor of the card are super sweet, but I think we should be wary of lands with the potential to generate tons of mana. For example, as much as I love symmetry in design, the graveyard matters part of the card shouldn’t be on equal ground with the other ability as it’s easier to produce more mana with mill shenanigans.
Tumblr media
@col-seaker-of-the-memiest-legion This pricey enchantment is so splashy, Kiora would probably try to steal it. Good thing you considered planewalkers on the second ability, because then you would have certainly crossed the line. I don’t know what kind of deck is the true home for this card, but even one turn with this card on the battlefield will decide the course of the game.
Tumblr media
@dabudder For 2WUG, you get a 5/5 flyer and you draw one card. It’s not much, in EDH at least, but it’s definitely an honest play. Again, the fate of Vitu-Ghazi is on the spotlight, and here we see the Azorius care about it! Who knew Ravnicans love Selesnya that much?
Tumblr media
@koth-of-the-hammerpants Scavenge 6 for merely two mana is a tremendous deal. The Second activated ability takes an A for creativity and flavor, as we see the pinnacle of recycling in this combined Simic Golgari project. I feel a few balance tweaks are required here and there but the idea of a creature “reforming” itself through +1/+1 counters is damn cool.
Tumblr media
@narkis24 Puns and memes are always appreciated but the abilities, while interesting, they have me wondering whether this is too oppressive for your opponent. The free treasure token every now and then is pretty innocent and it may be the token of an unofficial alliance made on the kitchen table. However, the potential of multiple counterspells with little investment  seems a bit scary. I would rather it somehow required self sacrifice in the ability so people don’t gang up on you.
Tumblr media
@thedirtside I love the name and its connection with the bouncing nature of the card. While overall this spell feels weak or requires a lot of mana, I feel there are decks out there that would appreciate the utility this card offers.
Tumblr media
@bread-into-toast Selesnya and Orzhov is a wild combination from every perspective but as the flavor text suggests, all woodshapers are welcome XD
The 5 toughness guarantees that you will make a good number of tokens before this thrull enters the soil, and it might deter a couple attacks while on the battlefield because it can potentially make 10 or more tokens with a good block. An Abzan token deck will have dozens of ways to utilize this small army, and the deat trigger gives you yet another one if there are not any available at that time. All in all, a stellar design. I didn’t do a runners up post this time, but this could be easily included.
Tumblr media
@gollumni A solid utility 4 drop that shines more at late game than on curve because as the challenge suggests we’re playing kitchen table edh. For the full colored cost you disable three potential blockers. I love the tiny detail that unlike other creatures in the original ravnica that cared about different colors of mana when you cast them, Enlisted Banisher represents all three colors for the sake of devotion and color matters cards, like the beloved Knight of New Alara.
Tumblr media
@shakeszx A very unique design that encourages different tribal strategies in an attempt to unite everything under its glorious pincers during combat. I feel a deck with Gedj as a commander would be both fun and challenging to build. I suppose it would contain a lot of Slivers and Allies. If anybody makes this deck please let us know!
Tumblr media
@wolkemesser A wild project uniting Gruul and Izzet. This is probably the most intricate design I’ve seen in a while, utilizing XYZ, three colors, two kinds of tokens. But what about the kitchen table? The options this card offers are insanely good, so much that I think it’s undercosted. The red ability, essentially lets you save up mana, and treasures can also help you generate mana for the other two options of the card.
And while the power level is definitely high, I have to commend you for considering when the player is allowed to do these crazy mana sink shenanigans. Having a specific time window is important and setting it on main phase 2 means that you give both yourself and you opponents time to figure things out.
Tumblr media
@teaxch Excellent build around potential and I like that the optional copying trigger as you can utilize a deck with both buffs and single target removals. The spiciest thing about this card is that it has the highest cannon potential because actually Izzet and Boros collaborate to create advanced soldiers. It’s Captain Amrica all over again :P They even got the right colors
Tumblr media
@masternexeon I love the irony of a card that obstructs your opponents playing cards during your turn has flash itself. It’s a real solid hate bear. The haste hating is more of a trinket text than a relevant ability, but it’s better to have a rare ability than not having it.
Tumblr media
@partlycloudy-partlyfuckoff I don’t know why this doesn’t have a straightforward adapt X ability, let’s move past that. Any numbers of counters are always welcome, but in this design it’s easier to get a good amount of counters early game, for example going for 4 on turn 4 is a really nice play and you can swing for 7, which will have a long and memorable impact on the kitchen table. On the other hand, if you topdeck this late game, there’s a chance you won’t be able to pay 11 for the 11 creatures you might have in the graveyard.
Tumblr media
@davriel-canes-tea-supplier Another aftermath card. You surprised me there! Get down is a slightly more expensive freeze two spell, but that’s customary for dual purpose cards like this. On to business, we got a selective wrath effect. It’s more disruptive than an actual sweeper because odds are the opponent sees it coming (except if you discard it on purpose to head straight to business) Overall I feel the whole card could be a bit cheaper but I appreciate the impact it can have in the game, and it also helps me create an image of the Ravnican lobby that’s in the hands of Orzhov with the assistance of the Azorius

@reaperfromtheabyss Ending, with a flashy comeback of Fuse! Both halves are great cards in their own right, Body is a tad better than life’s legacy because it also gives life at the price of one black mana instead of any mana, and Soul can produce a respectable amount of flying tokens while wiping a player’s graveyard. The combined effect isn’t as explosive as other fuse spells, but the utility it offers is much appreciated. And while the card frame for fuse isn’t flavor text friendly, I really like the story it tells, about how the two guilds care about death and how they utilize it for their advantage.

Okay I have so much to say. Like a lot. Feel free to add on or send me asks because I wanna talk about this!!!
Precautionary warning: TW:Death TW:Mentions of death TW:The words kill, killed, & killing
Also again, this is long, I talk way too much here. This is like a play by play of the episode with a lot of incoherent commentary.
The Falcon & The Winter Soldier spoilers under the cut
Alright I'm gonna try and go in order.
Fucking john walker is delusional at best at this point. Your best friend was killed, yes that is horrible, I get your outburst. But there is no actual justification for killing that particular person. Karli killed Lemar, not random flag smasher #62 so you're wrong. Next, why in the hell was he so intent on continuing to have the shield after such a monumental and incredibly public fuck up? Why did he think he could just keep the shield like nothing happened after committing a murder in cold blood??? You are not above consequences asshole. But as a straight white man from america I can see why you'd think you were - let's not get into that though.
Bucky. This bitch.... okay so at this point he was still being a little bit too much of an ass for me. I don't like that after he and Sam got the shield off of Walker that he dropped it next to Sam and then just walked away. Like???? You're not gonna help him up my dude??? Just gonna walk off like a dick??? At this point homeboy was on the thinnest ice he's been on (for me) through the whole series because it just felt extra disrespectful after everything else that happened between them.
Joaquín!!! Baby boy is back!!! So not only is this man adorable and loyal and just amazingly supportive. He's so smart and just a delight, and he makes my day. And I wanna hold his hand🥺
walker's dumbass having an outburst in front of congress was laughable and just like?????? Are you dumb??? You killed someone - it was witnessed live - and it was recorded. Ya done son. Also nice quick lesson that the government doesn't give a shit about you. The other shoe just dropped for ya pal. Welcome to enlightenment. But also I don't really feel bad for you because you're an arrogant piece of shit. You keep trying to justify your actions and paint yourself as the victim but that is soooo far from the truth. Lying to yourself and everyone around you doesn't make it true. AND WHO THE HELL IS THIS VAL LADY??? Hydra is that you??? What evil corp/government are you whoring yourself out for???? Nothing good will come out of this shit.
As for Karli. I really can't deal with the lack of accountability. When you decide to kill people, you should know that some of your people will also be killed. You fuck with any government? They can and will fuck you over. It's really as simple as that. Idk what she expected??? Of course they took down one of your hideouts. You're considered a threat so you're gonna get screwed. You're stupid if you think there wasn't gonna be some form of retaliation. Like I get the purpose of your movement but the way you keep reacting to the consequences of your shitty decisions is laughable my guy.
Zemo little stupid ass bitch. You get to go to jail in Wakanda and I've never been happier. Send tweet. In relation to that though BUCKY APOLOGIZE TO AYO AND ALL OF WAKANDA CHALLENGE. Yea sure you helped get Zemo in their custody but you need to say sorry for being a whole asshole. And this bitch asked for a favor and they graciously obliged. We really don't deserve them.
Isaiah Bradley got to tell his story and I am soooo damn happy. It's fucked up, as we all expected, but it was good to have it highlighted. I will say though, as a black person in america I get both Isaiah and Sam's points of view. There is always going to be an undercurrent of bitterness in me toward this country. That will never change. I also am with Sam on the idea that things need to change and that I won't stop fighting until they do.
And then the next part with Sam and Sarah and his nephews and seeing the community🥺🥺🥺 And while I was still annoyed with Bucky at this point, seeing he and Sarah flirt a little made me hella smug not gonna lie lol. This was the point that I thought they were gonna try and equate Bucky helping with the boat to an apology and I was gonna fucking RAGE. But, that's not what happened thank fuck.
walker's stupid ass lying to Lemar's family about "the guy responsible" ?????? That's the family of your best friend and you lie?????? Karli killed him you fucker. This is gonna come back to haunt you, mark my words pendejo.
"When Steve told me what he was planning I don't think either of us really understood what it felt like for a Black man to be handed the shield." No, you fucking didn't you idiots. But thank you for finally removing your head from your ass and acknowledging that it was not the same for him as it would be for you. Although next time sort out your shit before you go and try and put the blame on someone who is absolutely not at fault. Sam here was so gracious and just amazing as per usual. And after that he did a better job in helping Bucky than his own damn therapist. "You gotta stop looking to other people to tell you who you are." GIRL THE POWER IN THAT STATEMENT. Also can we talk about how open Bucky finally was here? Didn't lie about the nightmares just kinda bared it all. That's a huge step. And Sam being the angel that he is - asking for consent to give his advice or tough love as he put it? That's how this kind of stuff should be. Only give what the other person can handle and make sure they've agreed to it first. Sam is just the best and we don't deserve him. Government appointed therapists are trash apparently because oof. Anyway, I would have liked a little bit more in-depth apology from James, but I don't think it's in Sam's nature to push for more than what was given. And if he's okay with it I am too. Although James would still get a back hand from yours truly🤷🏾‍♀️
Sam and Sarah having their moment to talk about the boat, their family legacy, Sam's choice for the mantle of Captain America? Sparked joy. I really like that we got so much more of Sam and the people important to him. I want more, but this was still nice.
OKAY AND THE BEST PART OF IT ALL!!!!!! SWEATY SHIRTLESS WORKOUT MONTAGE OF SAM MOTHER FUCKING WILSON!!!! HOW ARE WE FEELING?!?! Just... the muscles. I- That's my fucking Captain you guys. I'm so proud and very hot and bothered.
Karli you're a dumb bitch for bringing that prick back in for "the opportunity to" kill Sam. Fuck you for that. And clearly some of your people are not huge fans of being associated with actual bad guys. Tread softly, this is a dangerous path.
I wanna see the new wings!!!! And if Wakanda made them? Do you know what that means you guys??? Super powerful Wakandan made Falcon wings on our rightful Captain America??? It's over for you hoes.
And again with walker being an idiot. You're not cap, you never were. You didn't deserve the title before, and you sure as hell don't now. Now we gotta worry about mister imposter walking around with his damn superiority complex and fake ass shield🙄🙄🙄
The last episode needs to be like an hour and a half as far as I'm concerned. This was rushed enough as it is. All the shit that's bound to happen needs more time for development. Like what was Sharon doing???? If they make Sharon a villain I'm gonna be pissed.
That's it I think. That was so much, if you read all of this you're a real one lmao

The Great Internet Debate
Since the tail end of 2020, many Australians were informed by Google of a political stoush between big news corporations and the tech company behind our favourite search engine. The open letter to end users read like a doomsday spiel – spelling out the encroaching disaster if a mandatory news code came into effect. The proposed legislation – the News Media Bargaining Code – was explained as a means of paying for news content when all that Google did was provide the necessary links for people to ‘choose’ what content they actively consumed. Google also advised that the News Media Bargaining Code would make it unfair for small businesses as larger media companies would be informed of algorithm changes ahead of time and be given data on users to maximise coverage.
A grim picture was painted. Why should big news media companies receive data and information about everyday users of a search engine? Why should their links be propped up higher than other smaller outlets?
At the start of 2021, after a Senate hearing, Google also warned that the proposed legislation might lead to the removal of Google Search in its entirety in Australia. Why? Because why should it pay to just provide a multitude of links based off whatever a person is searching for?
I know that as a writer, most of my searches aren’t news related. In fact, they’re mostly about things people wore in the 18th to 19th century. I ask the internet when doorknobs were invented or the nature of horse care. There was even one enquiry that might have put me on alert lists across the world: how long does it take for a body disposed in water to rise to the surface?
But that was important for a very singular scene in my story, all right! Murder happens in my stories! I just want to make sure that I’ve got all the facts right as well as the science!
What Google, and by extension Facebook, failed to address was the uneven distribution of ad revenue when it comes to large news media. With the advent of the internet, it’s become much harder for traditional newspapers and television stations to accrue the wealth they had.
The news media Bargaining Code however would force huge tech giants to negotiate with each individual news corporation and find a way to ensure a ‘fair’ means of distributing ad revenue by entering into commercial agreements or be subjected to arbitration. In this way, jobs could be kept and journalism could be regarded, once again, as the respected profession that it should be. So, to be honest, it does sound like a noble thing to do in order to support struggling companies.
As for my personal opinion? Well, I’ll be honest with you. I’m not entirely swayed by any one side. There are pros and cons to each.
My own experience with the search engine is indicative of this. The only time I’ve used Google to search for the news is when I’ve been too lazy to memorise the actual link for ABC News. Otherwise, it’s very easy to simply type into your browser: news.com.au or smh.com.au
Often, I feel that the one great problem with these news websites is their inability to modernise and to accommodate a generation that prefers immediacy. A lot of news websites, based off the newspapers that are still being published, have arbitrary gatekeeping with regards to the number of ‘free’ articles that can be viewed each month and an exorbitant subscription fee.
Let’s, for the sake of argument, use the Sydney Morning Herald as an example. Most of their articles on their main website have intriguing headlines and a small excerpt for what the article is about. One can easily get the gist of the content readily available simply by skimming over the content. There’s no mystery or anything too attention grabbing.
If one were curious and wished to learn more, they’d simply click open the article.
But this is where the Sydney Morning Herald falters a little.
Ad revenue, as most people know, is driven by clicks. The more clicks an end-user makes, the more money a company can make. Perhaps, it’s true, that news corporations could make a few more dollars by partnering with search engines to ensure that ads on their website are linked to whatever other websites that the end-user was previously poring over. After all, I’m not as interested in say a NAB home loan than a new game that’s come out.
Yet the crux of the matter comes from the very fact that the Sydney Morning Herald only allows five ‘free’ articles per month. In order to get around that, one needs to ‘subscribe.’ And the subscriptions aren’t very cheap. Particularly for the younger generation. $3.50 a week sounds nice, but if you add it all up, it can be quite significant. Annually, the Starter Digital is $160 per year.
Not a choice most people are willing to dip their toes in when they also have to pay for Netflix, Stan, Disney+ and a whole host of other things that catch their eye.
So, how does something like the Sydney Morning Herald make money when paper is all but dead? One thing they could implement is additional ads on their website and perhaps at the top and bottom of their articles. They could also stop hiding their articles behind paywalls. No student has the money to pay for it, particularly when they’re only using the website for a school project.
Lower your subscriptions and give more back to the consumer. Make it more appealing.
News.com.au might not have the cleanest reputation, but their headlines catch the eye. It might be click-baity as all hell, but in this day and age, it’s what helps it to survive.
It’s not a perfect solution, true, but it might give them a little bit more of a boost.
And instead of only relying on the written word, it might be prudent now to create more videos to elucidate the topics they want to explore. Particularly when it comes to news that most consumers want on a more instantaneous basis. These days, video streaming is the way to go. Three-minute or five-minute videos are pretty easily digestible. And a lot of it can be monetised. It might not be a huge amount of money, but every little thing counts.
Investigative journalism, on the other hand, would need to be well researched and thought out. You can have a written article and transcript or you could have a well-plotted fifteen-minute video. The dialogue needs to be snappy yet informative. News needs to learn how to target their audiences instead of catering only to the older generation.
As for recaps of movies or television shows? You can’t go wrong with James Weir and his commentary. I might not watch Married at First Sight or the Bachelor, but I’d almost definitely read his recap of the episodes because of his biting comments and snide observations.
APPEAL TO THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR!
Make your websites lively. Make them relevant. Grab the attention of millennials and Generation Z instead of pandering to baby boomers.
Beyond that, find ways to adapt in the current marketplace. So many YouTube creators have to constantly find ways to get around changes to the YouTube algorithm. They complain, sure, but in order to be fair, no one content creator should be told what the changes will be beforehand.
Above all else, negotiate in good faith. And stand your ground. Google and Facebook should not just threaten to remove their services from the good people of Australia just for few million dollars in ad revenue. But, there’s also no need to demand algorithms or have your links unfairly pushed to the top of Google Search and quashing smaller independent voices.
Even if Facebook were to take away the ability to share links, though, I’m sure people will still be able to make do. I know that I, for one, could very easily summarise an article that I’ve read. And if someone wanted links...well...I’m sure I could devise a method to provide an alternate solution to do so.
In any case, depending on how Google reacts, this humble blogger might have to think about investing in a VPN. Which, unfortunately, might see local Australian businesses suffer because the massive search engine I’m using would be defaulted to another country somewhere in the vast piece of rock we call home. Of course, in saying that, we do still have Bing. So, you know what? Everyone, it’s time to put Bing on the map and make it a serious contender against Google.
So, despite my limited understanding of the entire kerfuffle that’s been kicked up between Google and traditional news media, that is my two cents on the situation. Greed is not good. And don’t use a good honest people as hostages to the regulation of the wild west internet.
Edit: By the time this post goes up, Google has come to several agreements with major news corporations in Australia whilst Facebook has removed all news content for Australians. Which means no sharing of links to news websites for all of us down under.
Unfortunately, news wasn’t properly defined and so many other pages had their posts wiped, such as emergency services and a member of parliament. Here’s hoping that Facebook will also put a stop on conspiracy pages and anti-vaxxer propaganda.
Further edit: After a week of removing news content, Facebook has reversed its decision.

A3! Event: Starring Party ‘Let’s Plan a Party 2′ Translation
All of the troupe members, including Izumi, gathered at the lounge to discuss what they should do to celebrate their milestone.
Tumblr media
Izumi: Help yourself and eat as much as you want! I made a lot. Today’s menu is gathering-celebration curry!
Banri: What kind of curry is that?
Azami: It’s a curry made to celebrate everyone being able to gather here.
Banri: The heck is that?
Sakuya: The curry is full of colorful ingredients!
Juza: I see, so that’s why the name is gathering-celebration curry.
Izumi: Like I said before, now that all of our troupe members have been cast as lead roles, I want to do something to celebrate itーー.
Misumi: I have a suggestion! Let’s make a veeeery big triangle and take a photo of it from the sky!
Itaru: That sure sounds like a commemorative event, for making a triangle that is.
Masumi: How about visiting a shrine?
Tsuzuru: Oooh, like offering our thanks?
Masumi: Director and I will go on your behalf. I’ll be wearing haori and hakama, while she wears a white kimonoーー.*
Tsuzuru: So that’s what you mean! You fooled me for a moment there!
Kumon: How about fireworks?
Kazunari: Nice idea! Let’s launch ten thousand fireworks, and invite our friends too!
Sakyo: How much do you think it'd cost? Rejected.
Citron: When talking about commemorative ceremonies, of course it’s gotta be a party at the castle! I’ll invite royalty from many countries and hold a dance party!
Muku:  Whoaah, it's my dream to attend a royal dance party!
Chikage: The scale is too big.
Itaru: And the fact that you have the connections to make it possible is terrifying.
Azuma: Since we’ve come this far, I want a lavish celebration.
Yuki: Like living it up in a luxury liner?
Homare: I can prepare a cruiser.
Azuma: I can also ask my acquaintance for help.
Tenma: Hiring a chef and going on a relaxing cruise sounds great.
Sakyo: Stop coming up with things that cost lots of money.
Taichi: Heeey!
Izumi: Feel free to throw in your suggestion!
Taichi: I want more curry!
Tenma: That’s what you’re asking?
Sakyo: Are there any realistic ideas that we can do at the dorm?
Juza: How about a sugoroku contest?*
Banri: Why sugoroku!?
Omi: The suggestion turns simple in an instant.
Hisoka: Let’s fry marshmallows in the courtyard.
Banri: Just say you want to eat marshmallows now.
Tasuku: I think throwing a party at the dorm is the best option.
Azuma: Isn’t that the same as usual, then?
Izumi: We don’t have any other good ideas though.
Hmmm… Since we have concluded our sixth plays, I’d like to do something related to that. What could be good...
Tsumugi: If that’s so, I have a suggestion. This is nothing special, but how about looking back at our plays up until now?
Izumi: Looking back at our plays…
Manager: Huh!? You’ve already had dinner!?
Why didn’t you call me~? I’m starving~.
Izumi: You haven’t eaten manager?
Guy: Come to think of it, he hasn’t.
Masumi: I just realized that.
Itaru: You have so little presence.
Manager: How cruel! I was carrying the video recordings we just organized to the warehouse all by myself!
Izumi: That’s it! Video recording!
Manager: ?
Izumi: Since we have a lot of video footage, how about looking back at our plays while watching them?
Sakyo: I see… We can add commentary too, then. How’s that?
Misumi: That sounds fun~!
Guy: Watching a whole play takes a lot of time, so it might be better to choose a particular scene.
Tasuku: The lead actor should be the one choosing the scene, then.
Azuma: I second that.
Kumon: But that alone isn’t fun. I think we should write several topics on a dice and use that to decide what kind of scene we will choose. How's that?
Chikage: So like the scene where you screwed up your lines, the scene where you fell, or just make it all about NG scenes.
Taichi: The dice is scary!
Sakuya: How about sending a video message too?
Muku: That sounds nice! It’ll become memorable.
Omi: Though I’ve gotta admit it’s a little bit embarrassing to watch a play that we led.
Juza: It might turn into an evaluation meeting.
Tsumugi: That’s because to each of us, the plays that we led were meaningful and became our precious experiences…
For that very reason, I think it’s worthwhile to look back at our plays once again.
Tsuzuru: You have a point.
Kazunari: I’ll compile the videos.
Omi: We can use my camera for the shooting, but who will be the cameraman? I don’t mind being one…
Azami: You'd get to watch the videos first that way, Omi-san. It wouldn't excite you anymore.
Omi: But wouldn't Kazunari be in the same position as me then?
Azami: Well, yeah.
Yuki: We can just film by ourselves, then.
Tasuku: Can we even do that?
Tsumugi: ...I’ll do my best.
Azuma: Now that we’ve come this far, it’s such a shame that we have no one to film us.
Sakyo: And we can cheat if we throw the dice ourselves.
Itaru: That’s a great idea...
Izumi: Okay, I’ll be the cameraman to be fair.
Let’s watch the final product during the party!
T/N:
*Masumi is talking about marriage
**Sugoroku is a Japanese board game which has become a tradition for kids to play during the New Year's Day.

17. Shy kiss - Malcolm/Jay/Vaughn go go go!
I’m not saying this is canon but I wouldn’t mind if it were. It’s probably best summed up by this meme Sars made:
Tumblr media
I hope this is some comfort (or torment?) to those I shipwrecked.
It hadn’t been an easy sell. For most people, a road trip across America sounded like a dream summer vacation—or at least the plot of a decent movie—but, because it was her, Vaughn had taken some convincing. He hadn’t come at all at first, actually, and Jacinth had taken Malcolm to see Cape Cod and up to the Maritime Museum in Maine alone. By the time they were headed to New York City, he had repented of the idea, and she had picked him up at the airport.
Vaughn’s luggage was full of books. That had made her laugh—it really seemed far more like an Alfred thing—but eventually he explained that he had intended to spend the summer reading through the Griffin’s library in the hopes of figuring out the planeswalking that Acacia had mentioned.
That had stung a bit—echoes of the same old regret that had pricked her when Vaughn had asked why she couldn’t have broken her news while the portal to Naribran was still open—but if he had wanted to stay well clear of her, he had had that opportunity.
And given it up. Had left New Hampshire so that he could join them on this road trip. Jacinth hadn’t been entirely sure what to make of it; she had no idea what any of it meant except, perhaps, that she was selfish.
When she had mentioned it at confession—at the cathedral in Philadelpha—she had been quickly absolved. It was not a sin to desire the companionship of others, the priest told her, nor to delight in their company. When she told him she was tempted to seek a second opinion, he had laughed gently and told her that Saint Liguori directed the faithful to trust in their confessor, for to accept his judgment was to follow the direction of God.
She had left Philadelphia gladder for it, and for Vaughn’s companionship, even on long, landmarkless days where he stretched across the back seat, reading from the Griffin’s notebooks aloud. Malcolm would provide context and commentary from time to time, teaching them more about his world even as they introduced him to Earth.
It was hot in Flagstaff, though not nearly so much as one might have expected in the Arizona summertime. It was the elevation, she supposed, and the cloudless night. From Mars Hill she could look down on the city below and see only a few lamps illuminating crosswalks and service stations. Most of the rest had been extinguished around 9, when they had left the bar where they’d eaten a late dinner.
Tomorrow, the Grand Canyon waited. For now, there was the quiet forest of Mars Hill and the Lowell Observatory atop. Even without the aid of the telescope they had come to see in the after-hours, the night sky was brilliant overhead. Malcolm’s hand rested in her own, and they both gazed upwards. His awe was naked on his face—and more so still when the attendants had directed his view toward Pluto—discovered at this very observatory all those years before. He had asked a thousand questions, and although the astronomers seemed amused by the enthusiasm he showed, they had gamely answered each.
And now they stood in the dark night, watching the moon peek through the treetops. Vaughn was a little ways away, his gaze turned upward too, hands thrust into the pouch pocket of his maroon sweatshirt. He cleared his throat. “I’ll get the car,” he offered. “Jay?” He held out an expectant hand, waiting for her to toss him the keys.Malcolm nudged her ribs with his elbow, and she glanced over to find him smiling. She smiled back, raking a hand through her hair—grown a bit shaggy on the road, tickling at her neck now.“Actually,” she said, letting go of Malcolm’s hand, “I’ll go with you.”“You sure?” Vaughn asked.“I’m cold,” Jacinth told him, drawing abreast of him.Vaughn looked at her, shoulders bare in her tank top, and then over at Malcolm, who was little better off in a tee. His runic tattoos peeked out beneath the short sleeves. Vaughn sighed, peeling out of his sweatshirt and thrusting it at her. “Here,” he said.
Jacinth murmured her thanks, shrugging into it. It smelled like him—not just hotel soap or the splash of cologne he wore, but like him in a way that nothing else ever would, and the fabric was soft and warm against her bare arms. He watched her as she lifted the hood and let it fall, toying with the drawstrings, and there was a private war going on behind his eyes she could see only in the set of his lips—as though he was trying too hard not to smile.“I’ll meet you out front in a minute,” Malcolm said.“Come on,” Jay urged. She wanted to reach out and take him by the arm, but that seemed like a transgression.
When it was Vaughn’s turn to drive, sometimes it was Jacinth in the back seat, stretched out and dead to the world. Acacia came and went as she pleased, but wherever she was, Jay could reach out and speak to her. It was kind of nice to have a faerie godmother, if a bit surreal, and since Wyoming, she had relied on her guidance more and more.
“So,” Vaughn said. “Where to next?”“The Grand Canyon tomorrow,” she said. “After that, I guess I was thinking Vegas? We have about a month left of summer before we should get back east.”“Don’t they card you in Vegas?” Vaughn wondered. “My roommate was going to go sophomore year, but they wouldn’t let him play. Be a problem for Malcolm.”Jacinth flinched. “Maybe not, then.”“Well,” Vaughn said, “unless you think we could pass him off as Alfred.”She laughed, and it echoed off the stone path underfoot. “Sure,” she said, “just some light identity theft. It should be fine.” She sighed. “Honestly, I haven’t figured out what to do about that. Sooner or later it’s going to be a problem.”Vaughn shrugged.
Soon they passed the rotunda and were headed back toward the visitors’ center. The parking lot waited just beyond, and that hardly seemed an appropriate place. “Hey,” Jacinth said, stopping short.Vaughn stopped too, turning back to look at her. “Yeah?” he said.“I’m glad you’re here.”He gave her a funny sort of look. “I’m glad I came, too, in the end.” It wasn’t an unalloyed happiness. She took a deep breath. Mars Hill was covered with pine trees, and she could smell them on the night air. “Do you still like me?”He seemed dumbfounded by the question. “Of course I still like you. You’re still a good person,” he was quick to say.Jay laughed, nervously, and felt her smile dimple her cheeks. “No, not … this is awkward,” she said after a moment. “I don’t think there’s a way around that. Just … since Yellowstone, Malcolm and I have been talking. I think he brought it up back in Chicago, but … Anyway, so, the thing is …”“Jacinth,” he said, in that firm, grounding way that he always had when her thoughts ran away with her in Naribran.“Are you still in love with me?” she asked instead.Vaughn looked pained, and then turned his face up toward the heavens, as though the Milky Way contained the truth of the matter in its smear of stars. It was a long moment before he said, “Yeah.”“That’s what I thought,” she said. She reached out to take his hand, but he tugged it away.“Things with Malcolm not working out?” he wondered. There was no bitterness in his tone that she could detect.“Things with Malcolm are fine,” she said, feeling her cheeks grow hot. “It’s just …”“Just what,” he said.
Jacinth sighed, trying to tuck her hair back behind her ears. It didn’t work—how often had she forgotten she didn’t have long hair in this body? “I never felt nothing for you,” she said. “I just wasn’t in love with you. I didn’t really have time to figure that out before you died, and I couldn’t really figure it out after. But now you’re alive, and you’re here. It’s still really confusing, but I’ve started to figure some things out.”He regarded her warily. She knew that look—had worn it a few times herself, guarding against hope in the assumption that would protect against disappointment later.“Do you remember,” she said, “when we were negotiating with the Nordics and Volkepf was explaining how things worked in their band?”Vaughn’s brow furrowed. “Yeah,” he said. “I didn’t think you’d want to. Wait, are you trying to set me up with Malcolm?”Jacinth laughed. “No,” she told him. Then she cleared her throat and said, “This isn’t about you two, uh, sharing honor or whatever their euphemism was. It’s more about the part where I said that in my homeland, men couldn’t marry men, and he said that where I came from sounded really … not oppressive, that wasn’t the word, but what he meant was that people should be free to just be whoever they are and pursue who they like?”Vaughn nodded, but he didn’t relax. “Where are you going with this, Jacinth?”
She glanced skyward a moment, then turned her gaze on Vaughn once more. “I wanted to walk back with you because I wanted to ask you a question.”“So this is just, what?” he teased. “Opening arguments?”“Sort of,” she admitted. “Malcolm knows about my feelings, and he supports them, so I wanted to ask …”He waited. There was no impatience in his body language.“We’re not breaking up,” Jacinth hastened to add. “Malcolm and I, we’re still going to be together, but if that’s alright, I wanted to ask: would it be alright if I kissed you?”
Vaughn looked at her a long moment, dumbstruck. She couldn’t help but feel exposed—not to the night air, but to him. His examination of her and her feelings; his judgment. It was only a moment or two, but it felt like a thousand stars rose and died overhead in that instant. “Yeah,” he said. “Yeah.”
This was not something she could just throw herself into, so she reached for him, cradling his face in her hands. She could feel the day’s growth of stubble against her palms, and she smiled. He wrapped his arms around her in turn, and Jacinth leaned in, tipping her head to one side.
His lips were warm and soft against her own, and although this was not a deep kiss she lingered over it, breathing in the scent of his skin, and the warmth of him; the safety she had always felt in his presence.
When she drew back, she couldn’t help the giggle that escaped her. “I’m really glad you’re here,” she said.“Yeah,” Vaughn said, smiling. “Me too.”

RWBY 7.05
Almost caught up! I wanted to fit 5 and 6 into one entry, but this episode is just too dense, so I’m giving it its own. That said, I have seen episode 6, which is going to color my reading of this episode—so fair warning for vague spoilers for that episode.
I’m trying to keep all spoilers under a cut as a courtesy. If you reblog with added commentary, please use a readmore so I can reblog it back without spoiling my followers.
Again, disclaimer that my knowledge of RWBY lore is not nearly as extensive as my knowledge of RvB; I’m working on it. Feel free to politely correct me.
I love Ruby’s enthusiasm for Huntress work! It’s a nice reminder that while graduation may have been anticlimactic, being a Huntress has always been Ruby Rose’s dream, and that part hasn’t changed.
Ironwood’s plans for Amity tower means diverting resources and protection away from Mantle. So, I’m sure that’s going to go well. RWBYJNR are helping out around the perimeter, as well
On a rewatch something caught my attention in the working/training montage. Clover’s voice-over gives them their briefing. “I think you’ll find everyone appreciates having a Huntsman around,” he says, over a shot of several citizens fawning over Jaune and one giving him a homemade casserole. “You’re of course free to enjoy your time off as you see fit,” Clover adds, in a knowing tone. “Whatever helps you take the edge off.” A statement which connects to nothing in the montage. His next statement, and the next snippet in the montage, are about training.
So I can’t help but connect that remark about taking the edge off to the one about people in Mantle—poor people desperate for protection.
That reads to me like Clover likes to use his Huntsman status to uh, enjoy the company of Huntsman groupies grateful for protection. And that’s. well. Yeah, I do not like that. I still like the rest of the Ace Ops, but I’ve lost any respect I had for Clover.
Nice to see a cameo for Team FNKI!
Ren’s irritation with Nora continues.
Qrow’s tension with Clover also continues. And Clover delivers Qrow a genuine compliment, which is at least one point in his favor. Qrow also verbally acknowledges he’s given up drinking, which is really great follow-through from last season. I’m proud of him.
Here we meet Robyn Hill, confronting the supply convoy on behalf of Mantle. She seems prepared to take the truck by force, but Penny’s intervention stops her.
Clover doesn’t really seem interested in the fact that from Robyn’s point of view, her concerns about the supplies are one hundred percent justified. His tone says he considers her no more than a common criminal. Robyn is using what we call direct action. That said, she does seem to want to avoid unnecessary violence—especially when she realizes Penny is protecting the truck.
“The Protector of Mantle, huh?” she says pointedly, and judging by the flicker of regret on Penny’s face at that, the jab lands. Mantle has been left in the hands of a team of brand new Huntspeople while its supposed Protector is too busy protecting supplies diverted away for some other project.
Robyn has a point here.
And the fact that someone like Robyn Hill has made it all the way to the Council election speaks volumes about where Mantle’s political climate is right now. I don’t want to get into comparing RWBY characters to real-life political figures because none of them are perfect analogs and they aren’t meant to be. But suffice it to say that a populist figure like Robyn Hill gaining mainstream popularity is a harbinger of social unrest, and a politically-savvy person would recognize that from a mile off.
Ironwood, unfortunately, is not a politically-savvy person. That, I think, he has shown in spades. Remember last episode, when Penny commented that his speech conclusions were getting better? That indicates this is something he’s been working on. Ironwood knows he’s not a strong public speaker. He’s at least that self-aware. But it’s really just the tip of the iceberg where his political failings are concerned.
Ironwood’s heart is in the right place, but he is paternalistic and bullheaded in his methods. He believes that if he can just get the tower built and share his message with the Kingdom, everyone will understand why he’s done what he’s done. He’s deeply underestimating the damage this unrest can do in the meantime, and the potential allies he’s alienating.
I love the sister moment between Winter and Weiss. Even though Winter’s path is not the one Weiss wants to follow, it is very good to see Winter supporting her in distancing herself from their family.
And here, at last, we meet the Winter Maiden, Fria. Who is being kept in complete isolation except for Winter Schnee, who is meant to take her place. Winter has embraced that destiny with pride. Even so… there is an increasingly theme of isolation around the Maidens. Amber was alone when she was attacked. Pyrrha was offered the succession in secret, and it drove her to sacrifice herself alone without her team. Raven… well, she’s a special case, but she’s a solitary figure in a sense too, never letting anyone get too close to her, and those that get close seem to suffer. And here is Fria, dying alone. The Maidens seem to be assigned to the four Kingdoms, so it’s not like they work together. Though they are four, they are not a team. They inherit a gift they never asked for, bear its burdens alone. And die alone.
Man, that’s a downer.
But once again, we see this theme emerging in volume 7: isolation vs. family. Winter is willing to bear this burden alone. Weiss, again, chooses her new family. But she and Winter, at least, have been able to choose their own way, and they find common ground in that.
This is one big reason I’ve gotten so much more enthusiastic about RWBY in recent years. It’s not just that the story is stronger, that the characters are getting stronger arcs, that the art style is more professional and consistent. It’s that the show is growing more and more thematically tight. The writing isn’t just compelling within the arc of a season or the mini-arc of an episode. It has direction. It feels purposeful.
And that’s why I’m so excited about where the story will go next.
Last episode concluded with Watts making contact with Jacques Schnee and this episode wraps up with Jacques making a startling announcement: on the eve of the Council election, he is closing down SDC operations, putting countless people out of work. Jacques himself, of course, is wealthy enough to ride out what will probably be a brief gap in his profits. The same cannot be said for the working class of Mantle. Jacques is walking the line right between blaming Ironwood for his decision, and effectively blackmailing voters with their own jobs, over which he has complete control, to vote for him. It’s an ugly move, and it’s so overtly ugly that it could, in a fair election in this increasingly populist climate, cost Jacques the election.
In a fair election.
But we’ll get into that in the next episode.

Planet Alert April 2020
By Mahala’s Astrology
Welcome Spring! Thank goodness we are on the way to some nice warm weather and more sunshine. I am writing my article a little early this month because of all that is going on in the world. I was totally surprised how fast the whole earth was shut down. I never believed it could happen that fast. For those of you who are staying home; I hope you are enjoying your time off. For the service workers who are still working; I thank you for being the great Beings you are as you continue to help people. What would we do without the nurses and doctors and the people who keep the grocery stores open so we can still get food, and many others who help in many different ways. I bless all of you.
Here is a quote from Kitty O’Meara. “And the people stayed home. And read books and listened, and rested and exercised, and made art and played games, and learned new ways of being and were still, and listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people begin to think differently. And the people healed. And in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed”. Thank you Kitty!
In my last article I talked about the 24th chapter of Matthew where it says “when you see a man standing in the Holy Land giving a speech (that would be Trump when he gave his speech in February) then it is time to take to the hills because there will be a time of tribulation like there has never been before.” We are now in that time period because of the Coronavirus. It has affected the whole world.
The Bible also says that this time period would be shortened to save the Elect. This must mean that the virus will not be in effect for as long as the leaders are saying it will be. Right now, the energy of fear is running rampant and this is why we are in the time period of shut-down, which needs to happen to stop this virus.
March is the 3rd month of the year and the word fear adds up to 3. I guess that is why they say March is the month of madness. Maybe the energy will improve when we move into April because that is the 4th month. Passover starts on April 8 and continues until April 16. The full moon is the night of April 7th.
We are experiencing the repeat of the Moses drama right now. Think about what happened in the movie The Ten Commandments. (Hollywood style of course.) Moses went to the pharaoh and said “Let my people go, they want to be free.” Don’t we also want to be free from control right now? Then in the movie many people died, which is happening right now with the virus. Then darkness came upon the land.
In Matthew Chapter 24, it says “At the time of the great tribulation the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from heaven and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” What will cause this darkness to happen? Could it be the planet Nibiru? I almost forgot about that planet because people had stopped talking about it. Then the other day I received a picture of Nibiru (the Red Kachina) and the email said it is approaching Jupiter’s orbit right now which will soon make it visible to the naked eye. Link Jonas Passos March 16th.
Another prophecy is that the rivers will turn red as Nibiru gets closer to us. This is from the red oxide that comes off the planet. Then I received another email about how the rivers all over the world are turning red right now. Link Rivers and Waters are Turning Red. This is the only thing I can think of that could cause the sun to be darkened and the moon to not give its light, and the heavenly bodies shaken.
The Bible seems to put things in order of how they will happen. First it talks about the man standing in the holy land (USA) then the great tribulation (virus) happens and everyone becomes fearful of this virus. That sure has happened. Then it says that the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.
Right after that happens, it says “the sign of the son of man will appear in the heavens and the people of earth will rejoice because we will see the son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory”. He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather the elect from one end of heaven to the other. This is when we move into the new earth.
I think this time period is getting close because Passover happens in April and so does Easter. If this darkness does happen at that time, are you ready? The conspiracy theory says that the darkness starts on April 1st and will continue until April 10th, which is Good Friday. I don’t know exactly when this will happen but it is the next thing on the agenda. I know I have repeated much of what I said in my last newsletter but I thought it was important to repeat it because we are now in the great tribulation and the darkness could happen at any time.
Many planets have been lined-up in Capricorn since January 12-13, 2020. Capricorn rules structures and governments and look at what has happened since January. The structures are coming down big time. I have never seen anything like this happen in my life- time, have you?
Mars went into Capricorn on February 18, 2020 and started triggering all of the planets in Capricorn. Mars is an energy planet and is good at triggering events. When Mars made an aspect to Jupiter, the stock Market started to go down and is still going down. This is so the new money system can come onboard, which is already set-up and ready to go.
Pluto rules viruses and that is why the pandemic got so bad in March because Mars had been approaching Pluto. Mars and Pluto are exactly conjunct today. This means that a crisis has happened, and now Mars will start moving away from Pluto, although it may take a while before the virus leaves.
Mars will be in Capricorn until the end of March, and then Mars will move into Aquarius and join Saturn. This will be an entirely different energy because Capricorn rules control and Aquarius rules freedom. We will then move out of the control energy and start manifesting freedom. I think April will be a very intense month because the sun will be in Aries which is ruled by Mars until April 20. Then the sun moves into Taurus and everything changes.
Light manifests the energy of 11/2 and the word dark manifests the energy of 16/7, which is the Tower Struck by Lightning in the Tarot. I think the towers are starting to fall. If we add 2 + 7 it adds up to 9 and that is the energy of love which is the glue that holds our Universe together. Love encompasses everything so “Think with your Heart “and we will make it through this great tribulation with flying colors. Maybe everything will change for the better by Mother’s Day. Wouldn’t that be nice.
So Be It.
