Ashelia ~ Available RP Verses

{out of dalmasca} Here are some specific verses for Ashelia so that muns of muses from Final Fantasy games, not from FF games, from the MCU, from other fandoms, etc. can get an idea of how they might interact with her. If you have any questions or would like to plot in a specific verse, let me know! =)

{ princess of dalmasca } ᵖʳᵒˡᵒᵍᵘᵉ ᵛᵉʳˢᵉ

This is Ashelia before the death of her father and the fall of Nabudis, at age 17 and onward. She would start out very sheltered and naïve, and would not yet have gone through any of the main events of the game. However, from here, her timeline can deviate from canon, certain major events can be omitted or changed, and Ashelia would be available for alternative plots, such as being married to someone other than Rasler or being sent to Archadia to facilitate peace.

This verse takes place in the two-year interim after the death of Ashelia’s husband, Prince Rasler, and the assassination of her father, King Raminas but before she begins her quest to prove her legitimacy and restore Dalmascan sovereignty. During this time, she is in hiding as the leader of the Dalmscan Resistance, “Amalia,” with Vossler and other remnants of the Order as well as a few others who survived the fall of Dalmasca and know her true identity. They are duty bound to protect her and keep her from falling into Archadian hands, but Ashelia is headstrong, angry, and restless, and prefers to actively work against the Archadian occupation of Dalmasca, even if it’s very dangerous for her to do so.

This is canon Ashelia (age 19-20ish) in Ivalice after the death of her father and the fall of Nabudis, likely in Dalmasca, but location will vary according to what part of the Final Fantasy XII timeline you want your muse to be in. This verse is for those who have Final Fantasy muses or want to place their muse inside the FFXII world. Your character would be native to some part of Ivalice or the same world at least, and would then encounter Ashelia. Plotting may be necessary to discuss the timeline and scenario that you may want. Your muse can get involved in the canon plot of FFXII if you like or we can discuss a unique plot for our muses to follow.

(I am going to write up this verse in detail at some point because there are a lot of headcanons throughout the timeline of the game and the twins’ lives that need to be discussed. When I do,  I will place a link to it here. Until then, if you want to know more or have questions, you can always ask me!) This verse contains everything the main verse does, but then also includes a number of headcanons regarding Basch, his brother Gabranth/Noah, their parents, the Archadian empress, and Larsa Solidor that venture into very tragic and potentially triggering topics, including child abuse/endangerment, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, violent murder, and mental illness. So any threads with Ashelia that are in this verse or have this tag take those events into account. They also take into account more detailed headcanons about Ashelia’s childhood, and her relationships with her father, Basch, and Vossler. Most of this will likely not be described in detail, but it exists in the verse, should it come up in the muses’ conversation. The canon game was chopped up and had many plot holes and time gaps, so this verse fills in, fleshes out, adds headcanons, explains holes and gaps, and generally smooths out the plot to make much more sense, but with some darker themes in an attempt to make a more harshly realistic story for Ashelia, Basch, Noah, and others.

{ queen of dalmasca } ᵉᵖⁱˡᵒᵍᵘᵉ ᵛᵉʳˢᵉ

This verse follows Ashe’s main verse and includes anything that occurred after the FFXII main game but before the events of Fortress. So, anything from the epilogue of the game and in the years following the end of the war and Ashe’s coronation as Queen of Dalmasca would be covered by this verse.

{ royal avenger } ᵐᶜᵘ ᵛᵉʳˢᵉ

In this verse, Ashelia has been frozen in stasis by a spell cast by an Esper while fighting it with the canon adventuring group of FFXII. They didn’t have the ability to dispel the magic and free her, and so they were forced to leave her behind. She was found (likely by SHIELD or SWORD or some similar agency) in a modern day setting in the MCU, and much like Steve Rogers, she is a person out of time. Being a former princess and having experience with both weapons and magic, Ashelia was directed to join the Avengers, where she could be of use fighting for the greater good in various ways.

Ashelia would be about 30 years old in this verse. This verse incorporates the scrapped storyboards, setting, and timeline of Fortress, the canceled FFXII sequel. Any events that take place just before, during, or after the events of this would-be game are including in this verse. You can read more about Fortress and its story here.

Hello my lovelies! 🦈 You might be asking yourself 'Sea, this is weird, You don't update during the week!' and you would be correct. I was supposed to push this update out by the end of my long weekend as an addition to this; however, due to a bunch of irl stuff I won't go into here, it was delayed. FAQ.

I want to put my community on the compendium but we have an application process. Is this okay?

Yes! Just note somewhere in your application that's a requirement. The only thing that is mandatory for the Compendium is that you must be open to new members or have a public-facing/accessible facet. There's no point advertising a community if no one can join it in some way!

I want to put my community on the compendium but I only have x number of members —

Also totally okay! People don't start with large communities. Activity is a must but, whether your server has two or two thousand members, if you're looking for new people to join, I'd love to help you find people.

I want to put my community on the compendium but I worry its too niche?

Okay, and? If your Eorzean Fishing Alliance has four members but you roleplay every second weekend, I still want to know about it.

What resources/communities can I add if I'm not the owner of them?

Mutual consent is extremely important to me, so anything that isn't a large-scale community OR a publicly accessible resource must be endorsed by the owner/admin/moderators in order to be added to the compendium. I operate under the assumption that a resource posted to a public space (tumblr, googledocs, youtube, etc) is open to all. A large-scale community is one with a significant member count or openly advertises itself as being accessible to everyone for whatever purpose it serves. If in doubt, please get in touch with me. I'm happy to contact your community owners for you!

How active does a community need to be?

If you find a community has not been active in about two/three months, send me a message and I'll take a look at it. Communities have ebbs and flows, especially event spaces that may take hiatuses depending on member interest/life events. I'm not strict in my implementation provided a space isn't dead. If a link or anything is broken, absolutely contact me about that.

sO the main reason why I fell off from this blog is because I unintentionally ended up bastardizing Fae when I started a private rp with my best friend, and we just went ham with what we wanted to do since it was just us lol. Fae evolved into a different character and now she's so heavily tied to that version and to my friend's oc that I,,, have a hard time separating this Fae with that one, even though I ended up changing her name to try and further separate them, ahah. I also got hella into ffxii so my muse has been primarily over there, but I do want to come back to rping in the tolkien fandom since I'm still very much so attached to the idea of Fae's character

with that said, it won't be soon. I'm slowly trying to move blogs over to becoming all side blogs and attaching them to a hub, and I plan on doing the same here. However, with the issue of Fae, I'm gonna take some core concepts and redo her again! I'm gonna take my time with it to figure out, and I'm gonna be going on vacation at the end of June and will be gone for almost two weeks, so I'll probably be chipping away at this on my downtime! I still plan on keeping her heritage the same, as her being the original ringbearer for the three rings, but I'm debating on whether or not keeping Ost-in-Rínas as part of her main verse or making it an au again. Also I may or may not change her name, heh. I still love Faegalad, but I also like looking for names sdjfghdf

Have you had to scale back or give up any ideas for your WoL Aeryn Striker? I started my WoL with a FFVIII idea but the more I tried to work with it, I realized it won’t work. 😭 It’s halting my gaming progress and not making playing her fun. By advice?

I had to think about this one; while I've added plenty that I initially never intended, I don't think I have scaled back or reworked an OC from realizing a story idea wasn't working; if I don't catch it during or soon after chargen, I usually let them change naturally over the course of a story or quietly retcon small things away while focusing on other aspects. This sounds similar but different.

So let's step back; what exact "FFVIII idea" and how is it implemented? Is it a core feature of the character, or can it be adjusted to a side aspect or background detail? While there's plenty of FFVIII that could work in FFXIV, given they're the same franchise (and indeed, we've quite a bit in the MMO now), there are aspects that fit that world better.

What else about the character is fun? What else is there to love? I doubt this one FFVIII element is the only thing to the character--and if it is, she wasn't "ready" as a character yet anyway.

Ryne, Gaia, and the Eden storyline work cuz the characters are realized parts of the FFXIV world with FFVIII flavor thrown in; it's a garnish. Meanwhile, over in Bozja, Fran, the bangaa, the city of Rabanastre, and several Garlean characters are lifted more directly from FFXII/Tactics...but still grounded in Eitherys in many ways, the story of FFXII/Tactics adjusted and altered to suit 14's setting, history, world, etc.

Also there's no need to play the character with their story fully formed and crystallized; I rolled Aeryn in 2017 and I am still changing and adding on to her character. Same with Dark, who's even older. I know folks like @scrollsfromarebornrealm playing as long or longer, who due to circumstances, have only just now sorted out their characters' stories, reworking them and figuring them out anew. Also @driftward had some initial ideas for both Zoissette and Nyx, even written down and posted, that have now entirely changed as the characters are revamped. They can both talk more on those aspects of reworking a character.

But it took time, and sometimes just playing the game as a player without worrying too much about the characters' RP or storylines. Letting it sort itself naturally and other ideas into the space.

So take a breath, and determine if the character's really unsalvageable; what else is it about them, what grounds them in the FF14 world, and how much of that other game is an inspiration/springboard/garnish to their story. Nothing's written in stone; we have the ability to rewrite, revise, adjust to our heart's content. Try to fit those other game elements into FF14's world, but if doesn't work, focus on the other key parts of the character, build from there, and be willing to fill in some spaces later with new, improved details.

Target Practice || open

{ This starter is for Basch’s MCU verse! =) }

Basch was out on the archery field alone again. It went largely unused, since the Avengers’ archer retired after the birth of his third child. Another did not seem to be needed, with Basch mostly being deployed for other reasons or to fill other roles, but... he missed it. He missed the feel of a bow in his hands, the connection to the arrow one felt as it was drawn back, its flights held close to his cheek. He missed the sound it made when it contacted the target. Weaponry was a necessity and the use of it was his profession, but it was more than that to him. It was an art form, and training served the same purpose for him as yoga or meditation did for others.

Arrow arching over bow... nock, two fingers on the bowstring, one on each side... one finger to guide the shaft... draw as you lift... thumb to your cheek... finger down... let your form hold the arrow to the bow.... elbow down, not inward... breath in... aim... loose the arrow... hold... breath out...

He took his time, going through each step in his mind, feeling everything with his hands and arms. This was not a combat situation, and so he could enjoy he act of shooting instead of stressing about his aim or trying to shoot as many arrows as he could in a short amount of time.

The Avengers had been very accommodating to him as well, acquiring him a traditional longbow similar to the ones he was used to with which to train. The bows that their archer, Barton, used were... strange, complex, irritating things to Basch. While he understood that technology had come a long way since his time, intricate compound bows did not serve to relax him the way traditional longbows did. It was Natasha who had noticed Basch didn’t know what to do with a compound bow, despite stating that he was an accomplished archer. A little research and the right requests made to the right people, and soon Basch was shooting with a genuine antique English war bow made of yew. Still not exactly what he was used to, of course, but close enough to scratch his itch. He’d been very grateful.

After loosing his last arrow, Basch lowered the bow and looked at the target, all his arrows clustered dead center. Although certain he was alone, Basch still looked around to make sure no one else was shooting before he walked to retrieve his arrows. That was when he noticed that he was not alone. “How long have you been there?” he asked, slowly turning to walk to the target. Had they been watching him? He didn’t necessarily mind, although it did change his mindset a bit from meditation to social interaction.

I actually am way behind on FF games, unfortunately. Due to financial constraints, I haven't been keeping up with the new Playstations, so I haven't played any of the newer games. I have played 1-10 (at least a little bit; I didn't get very far in 1-3), a little bit of 10-2, Crisis Core, and some of 14. I have FFXII, but I've never actually played it. My favorite Final Fantasy is probably either 4 or 7. 4, like I mentioned before, was my first FF game, and 7 I played at a time in my life where I was way deep in my teenage angst and related very strongly to Cloud. As it stands, I actually have Zack and Cloud RP blogs, although I don't use them very often.
