Hello everyone!

We are so glad to see that so many of you are getting excited for the Jegulus Big Bang! 

It is now one week until Sign-Ups officially open up so we thought we’d share a little reminder of all of the important information about the fest in preparation for that!

As mentioned above Sign-Ups officially open on May 1st. You will be able to sign up as either an author, artist or beta reader!

The mod team has been working hard behind the scenes to prepare all of the sign-up forms, which will be available through Google Forms. For this you will need an email-address and we would recommend that you don’t use a personal one/one with personal information. The email-address will also be used for any future information that we might be sending out via email (like the link to our Discord server!). 

Speaking of Discord! We have worked hard on creating a space for everyone involved in the Jegulus Big Bang to have somewhere to talk, exchange ideas, hype each other up, do sprints with fellow creators etc. and we are so excited to be sharing it with you in the near future (spoiler alert: it’s pretty cool, if we do say so ourselves!)! 

As always we remind you that while joining the server is mandatory for signing up for the Big Bang, there is no pressure to be active within the server. 

Having all fest participants in one place will allow the mod team to make any important announcements and will make it easier for any queries to come straight to us. This will also allow for a clear line of communication between writers, betas and artists to collaborate once the pairings have been announced.

There’s nothing quite like a Big Bang to inspire you and we hope that all of the wonderful ideas floating around in your heads will be enough to convince you to join the fest and sign up next week because we cannot wait to see what you’ve come up with!

FAQ

Q: Am I allowed to sign up as both an author and an artist? A: Absolutely!

Q: Can I finish my WIP for this event? A: Absolutely, as long as it is completely unpublished (i.e. is not already up on AO3).

Q: Can I write a sequel? A: You can write sequels to already-existing fic! However, it must also be possible to read as a standalone. If you are writing a sequel of someone else's fic, you must have their permission.

Q: What kind of art is accepted? A: Everything! Drawings, paintings, fan videos, podfic, edits, everything in between!

Q: Can my friend and I sign up as a pair? A: You absolutely can! Can't wait to see your collaborative efforts.

Q: Are crossovers or fusions allowed? A: Yes, as long as AFTG is the main focus.

The Love Alarm AU where Harry is a student working at his mum's bakery and Louis is the unattainable embodiment of Harry's every desire. Their paths cross.

To distract himself from the cacophony of Love Alarm ’s notification washing over the room, Harry dedicates his attention to staring at the colourful doodles dancing on the sides of pages of his notebook. Undeniably, witnessing such situations enables developing the ability to sympathise with those lacking social adorations who are haunted by the awareness their being is drowned out by the existence of someone else, glistening, bold and vivid, among the crowd, while they remain unnoticed. Recognising whose arrival must have caused such a reaction does not require complex deduction skills, and simply the knowledge of the presence of this person has a blush bite into Harry’s cheeks. Despite his efforts to make peace and embrace his position, the noise carries an unpleasant reminder of Harry’s blandness and significance. He bites the inside of his cheek as his muscles turn firm because of the tension, and his body naively attempts to blend with the surroundings by remaining still.

If you do not receive an email within 3 days, please shoot us message here or on our discord (currently open if you'd like to join!) all we ask if that everyone be a bit gentle ~ the mods are all working full time or in school full time and so we might not respond as quickly as we'd like.

Note: you do NOT have to have completed a work in this fest before in order to participate, and you can participate even if you've had to drop out before. All we do ask that you check the timeline and measure it against your schedule.

heyo ninjago writers!! i put out a mini interest check about this a bit ago, but now it's the new year and it's time to get down to business :D

What is a Fic Fest?

A fic fest is an event not unlike a secret santa, except that instead of a mod assigning you a recipient, you get to choose the prompt that you write for. The event and all of its prompts are hosted on ao3. Anyone can submit prompts, not just writers, and you don't need to write for the event to submit a prompt or vice versa.

Traditionally, a fic fest is for fanfic writers. However, if artists are interested in the event, it could be neat to have them too!

So what's a prompt look like?

Prompts can be as open-ended or detailed as you like! Typically they include a character or two, but you don't have to. The more open-ended a prompt, though, the more likely that someone might claim it. Prompts can be submitted anonymously or not to the ao3 collection once it's made and prompting opens.

There is also an option to self-prompt, which is where you write your own idea that fits the theme (if any) and submit it with the others to the collection.

How long does it go for?

That's one of the questions in the interest check! Typically, though, a fic fest schedule looks something like this:

prompting (2-4 weeks)

claiming and writing (1-4 months)

fic reveals (1-3 days)

author reveals (1-3 days, a week or so after fic reveals)

What happens if I need to drop out?

It's super easy to drop out of the event! Since you're not assigned a recipient, there's no one you're letting down by dropping out since there's no guarantee that any prompt will get filled; most won't, in fact, just by the nature of the event.

Hello everybody, and welcome to the Jegulus Big Bang!

We are so excited to be bringing this fest to jegulus, and hope you guys will come along for the ride.

A big bang fest is an almost two decade old tradition throughout fandom, with its aim to bring writers and artists together to collaborate to tell one story in multiple formats.

If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of a big bang, here’s a brief description! These fests usually run for several months, typically with the goal to write a novel length works. An author will write a fic, in our case with a minimum word count of 20k, and provide a summary anonymously to the artists who sign up. The artist will then choose a summary that speaks to them, and they will create a piece (or multiple) of fanart as a companion piece to the fic.

Our hope for this big bang is to not only encourage authors and artists to try something new, but to help the community as a whole to connect with each other in a way we might not have before!

The mods have been working on this for a long time, and we are so delighted to be bringing it to you all now. We can’t wait to see what you will create!

Bad News: Despite what the name may suggest, this fest will not run for a full 3 month season, but instead, 1 month, from the first day of autumn.

Good News: Despite what the name may suggest, this fest is not just for writers! Other works are more than welcome - in fact - encouraged!

What now? Now, start your engines! This is a fest (as voted for by you), so everything comes from you. What do you want to create? Or more importantly, who do you want to destroy?

Rules:

Your creations do not have to be autumn themed but they do need to contain one of the many facets of the angst trope. Interpretations of this will be different for everyone and so-

Tag your work, thoroughly! Whether on AO3 or here on Tumblr, please make others aware of anything potentially triggering.

This fest is for those 18 years or older.

You should be able to join the discord server.

You must have at least one fic posted on Ao3.

This fest requires a minimum of 1k words. There is no maximum word count, but keep in mind the deadline when planning.

Multi-chapter fics are allowed. They will be posted in their entirety at the deadline.

Monsters will be approved by mods on May 12th

The deadline will be 2 months after sign ups close (June 30rd).

Collaborations between authors are allowed.

Beta-readers are also allowed, we just ask that you credit them.

Explicit and dead dove fics are allowed, but they must be tagged correctly. (no topics of incest or non-consensual acts)
