#fic where remus and regulus are besties

I told myself I’d write 1K words of my fic a day to try to keep myself on track and keep it light so I wouldn’t lose motivation and that has literally gotten me nowhere I haven’t written in four days. I swear writing slumps last for months and then you get motivation for for about a week and then it’s gone.

Things I don’t get about the marauders fandom as someone who’s been obsessed with them for literal years

1. How we let so many characters be only children?? like I get that people don’t necessarily want to make OCs but HOW did it get to this? James, Marlene, Peter, Remus, Mary, Barty, Dorcas, Alice, Frank and so many others! Idk maybe it’s just where I’m from but look me in the eyes and tell me you know that many people who don’t have siblings ALSO the ratio is so off and barely any of them have only child energy. It’s just not right.

2. How sooo many of you aren’t multi shippers. Like what do you MEAN you can only see James with Regulus and Regulus with James?? What about bartylus? what about sunrose? what about draksun/sunkiller? what about moonwater? what about jily? what about prongstail? WHAT do you read?? Aren’t you bored??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN you only have ONE ship for each character???? As a multi shipper, I can be convinced of any ship with anything ranging from a real good fic or a pretty edit to an enthusiastic rant from a random person on TikTok and it just makes things interesting. Maybe my adhd brain just needs more ships to focus on or maybe some of you just lack flexibility ( or imagination), but we need to fix this cause there aren’t enough fics with the ships I like 😭😭

3. THE SHIP NAMES. I can’t be the only one who thinks some of these suck right? Like why are we saying jegulus when starchaser and sunseeker are RIGHT THERE?? Same with jily and flowerpot, and bartylus and starkiller. ALSO some names make me wonder if some of you just haven’t grasped the concept of ship names or if I just got it all wrong cause marylily and jegulily are just annoying, why are we keeping the L in Lily? The point is to merge the names together not stick them one beside the other, I just say marily and jeguily because it rolls off the tongue so much more easily

4. The Peter erasure. I just don’t get it, it’s so easy to include him in things, you don’t have to make him a main character, but just mention him every once in awhile. Sometimes I’m reading an important scene in a fic and everyone is mentioned EXCEPT for Peter! It’s so easy, just make him roll his eyes at his friends being idiots or something. And it’s not like you’ll get his personality wrong, ALL THESE CHARACTERS PERSONALITIES WERE MADE UP BY FANS but I understand that some people lack imagination so here’s some things about Peter I like to imagine: he’s a HUGE gossip, like my man sees and hears everything and he takes notes!! He likes to randomly turn into a rat and take a nap in one of the other marauders’ pocket, he does it so much that they had to tell the girls that they had a pet rat cause they were asking too many questions. He’s really perceptive and his friends are all oblivious so it leads to funny scenarios like:

Peter: I thought you guys had been together since third year?

Sirius: I’ve literally introduced you to people I was dating?!

Peter, shrugging: look mate I don’t question you lot anymore, you do whatever you want, I don’t care what you’re into, I just don’t wanna know about it

He also pulls people, like he’s really nice and will gossip to anyone who’s in his vicinity so he’s friends with basically everyone and he’s funny and pretty and he’s got charisma so he just charms everyone and when I say everyone, I mean everyone, even the slytherins have a soft spot for him (that’s how he gets accepted among the death eaters during the war actually). In pranks he’s the lookout so he often has to distract the teachers so he asks them random things and spits out half-made up facts about anything so he’s besties with most of the teachers which means he doesn’t get many detentions.

5. The Black brothers, more specifically the way the speak to each other in most fics, like they call each other “brother” so often and as someone who has a brother I’ve never called him that. Is it an anglophone thing? Like do people who speak English at home all do that or are fic writers only children?? (That would explain my first point actually) Or is it more a rich people thin?? Cause I know it’s not a francophone thing that’s for sure (also special mention to people who don’t know anything about French writing Sirius and Regulus as French speakers, I can tell you don’t know what you’re writing about but I eat it up everytime anyway)

6. This is actually just about ao3 but I WANNA BE ABLE TO LEAVE MORE KUDOS!!! I just loooooove fics but I can’t leave kudos at every single chapter and I’m bad at writing comments so I can’t show the author how much I love their work, I hate itttt 😭

7. Why there aren’t more fics about the Black family, and not just Sirius and Regulus, but Andromeda, Bellatrix and Narcissa as well like that would be so interesting and maybe like a deep dive into the Black family ideals and all that (if you have fic recs I’m all ears!!)

8. How jegulily is a pretty popular ship (which I LOVE) yet SO FEW people ship Regulus and Lily outside of it! They are a power couple and I love them and they don’t need James to work!!!

9. Why there isn’t more background Minnie x Poppy cause they are my mothers and I wanna see them moooooreeee

Remus: gay, five years old was attacked by Greyback and cut up, gets tremors on chronic pain now, uses a cane to walk, nerd (will read anything but mostly loves textbooks/educational books), lowkey autistic (you don’t know til you know), always spouting weird facts when he’s uncomfortable, obvi super pining for sirius

James: pansexual, dating Regulus, plays basketball, does one on one with Marlene and they gossip/vent about their day, works out all the time, super smart but a dumbass, actual sunshine with abandonment issues

Regulus: trans (formerly Lyra), bisexual, dating James, nerd (big into learning like remus, he and remus hang out to learn random shit together) plays badminton singles, autistic af, very quiet until he gets comfy then he never shuts up, likes legos (touch and you’ll die)

Peter: aroace, everyone’s bestie, chill and just living his best life, closest with Mary (both just chill but always judging everyone together)

Barty: gay af, dating Evan obvi, graffiti vandal/lowkey arsonist, besties with Pandora, intentionally does stereotypical ‘quiet kid’ stuff just to fuck with his peers, everyone’s afraid of him just how he likes,

Evan: asexual but will ruin Barty sexually (doesn’t get any sexual gratification but enjoys watching Barty squirm and have the best time), collects animal parts in jars and has a ‘bone room’, is that creepy kid, has definitely been to the psych ward before

Lily: lesbian, poly-ish, dating Mary and Pandora, huge chemistry nerd, in the debate club, very popular/friends with nearly everyone

Mary: bisexual, poly-ish, dating Lily and Pandora, very cottagecore, quiet vibes, besties with Peter, vegan/all about saving the planet (but not in a awful way), forgetful and always has a million alarms and reminders on her phone

Marlene: nonbinary they/them, so lesbian they never had to come out, obsessed with gf Dorcas, plays basketball, them and James often do one on one and vent, loves movies and will watch literally anything

Dorcas: lesbian, dating Marlene, most said words are probably “wtf Marlene”, party girl, cheerleader, legit hates men except Reggie but only because they were close before he transitioned and she’d miss him

Pandora: unknown sexuality (always just shrugs when asked), very manic pixie girl vibes, heavy on the manic, sometimes commits arson with bestie Barty, Evan’s unused dead things’ parts are made into fertilizer for her garden (which is impressive btw, mostly flowers but a hidden section of poisonous plants), always has something creepy or downright unsettling to say

Also…

-James is Indian

-Remus is technically white but he does not look it (and it always surprises people), and he’s conveniently unattractive bc I love ugly remus

-Pandora and Evan are black (with naturally white blond hair ofc) and Pandora has vitiligo

-Sirius and Regulus moved from France as children

-Mary is black

-Dorcas is black

It takes place in Canada bc I’m Canadian and I know fuck all about European anything and am too lazy to do research.

idk i do feel like my heart isn't always *in* it w sirius so he is more in the back of my fics,, so most of the time the comments are normally "where's sirius?" or "i can't get over the fact that sirius and james aren't besties" or "this is ...different..." "why would you make sirius and james strangers?"

which is fine !! i get that!! there are many a sirius black enthusiast in our midsts,, i just fear that my fics will not be delivering that Brand of sirius black that some ppl want,,, which is the joy of fandom we're all doing our own funky thing!! i like seeing what it looks like when james knows regulus first 😋

I have so many because I'm genuinely obsessed.

In every universe Evan is french to me like he grew up in France in my eyes and Barty is OBSESSED with his accent and when he speaks French Barty almost has a stroke.

Barty being in love with Evan since the second he saw him even if he didn't realize that's what it was is my all time favorite there are WAY too many fics where Evan is the one pining and I love them don't get me wrong but obsessed Barty is TOO real to me.

Before Evan and Barty got together they were delusional besties telling each other exactly like they would be so dead wrong in a situation and they'd be like well I mean I'd do it to for a check.

Barty is a flirt but Evan rosier is GORGEOUS he is the Remus Lupin of slytherin people are obsessed with him and he is so so oblivious to it and Barty's like damn everyone wants my man.

Both of them have the worst jealousy problems especially when they were in the realization stage but Evan was 10x more calm about it then Barty. Barty would throw the biggest hissy fit when someone even went near Evan and threaten to wipe out their whole blood lime while everyone else is like "and he still doesn't get it??".

I hate past bartylus we ALL know this I could write a essay on how it would only be possible if Barty didn't know Evan but Pandora and Evan are twins to me and the idea of Barty thinking he liked Pandora because he was confused and Pandora being like sweetie no cracks me up.

Evan is NOT a sweet little anxious boy to me he is just as if not more unhinged than Barty but in a slightly different font. Evan hates people except his core group and has a soft spot for james as well where as Barty is super socially unhinged so most people would think he's more unhinged but if people heard Evan's thoughts or conversations with his group they'd be like what in the actual fuck??

Evan and Barty's denial stage was so long and dramatic but them getting together was so simple they both felt stupid for not realizing sooner.

Evan and Barty were the daddy issues to Regulus and Dorcas's mommy issues.

Barty slowly built up to his realization but Evan randomly was like oh fuck I think I'm in love with Barty and then he kissed him and was in denial about it.

I have many many more but i got distracted trying to make this so it took 2 hours... I'll share some more later!!

here are some spewage of ideas to entice you:

(psa ik nothing about cars so pls don’t hurt me for the way i describe these scenarios)

Fast and Furious Remus/James x F1 Sirius/Regulus where the Black brothers are rich so they easily could afford track racing from a young age and honed their skills so that they were the best in the sport because that’s what the Blacks do and then James and Remus work for a mechanic shop (or something) and they’ve been building/driving muscle cars and street cars and got into street racing also at a young age. Then a black brother brings in his fancy street car and bam they meet and bam race fic.

Street racing jegulus au where James is the best but Reggie beats him in a race and the tension of competition leads to tension in other areas but no one knows who Regulus is or where he came from he just showed up with a cap and mask in a super nice fast car (idk anything about cars but it’s a nice and fast) to only drive against James who also has a nice fast car and then beats him so James and everyone is like who is this super talented person we’ve never seen and how did he beat the best!? And then James and Sirius are bestie-bros after Sirius left his toxic household so James does know of Regulus and Regulus does too and has the whole “you stole my brother” thing so bam, tension and bam, angsty jegulus race fic.

And there’s so much room for supporting side characters like Peter and the skittles etc!!

Throwing out a wish that someone who is a decent author (cause I am not) will write a story about James and Sirius finally getting their head out of their arses and getting together.

But the main thing I want is - Lily, Remus (and Regulus too if you please,) are so so jealous of these two.

Because Remus had been mooning over Sirius ( I do not subscribe to wolfstar but still feel that Remus is that wet sock of a guy who will feel attracted to the leather wearing god that is Sirius Black even though James Potter is the one who treated him the best. We do not get to chose who we crush on. So there is that.)

And Remus was okay in his silent pinning as long as Sirius didn't get what he wanted and that is James Potter. But now he has to be the audience of James finally pulling it together.

Lily because in all the fics featuring Marauders I have read, whether it being Jily or Jegulus or Prongsfoot or general fics of that era, every time it is James Potter proposing to her and her turning her nose up and declining him then we see that James is all grown up miraculously at least as far as she is concerned and they live happily ever after.

So, I wish just one fic where by the time she comes around, James is over her and they just past by because there was no time where they both had feelings for each other. Now, Lily is left with her feelings for James but James is now pinning for his bestie.

And Regulus because all the jegulus fictions have made me want a fic where reality is shown. Regulus left crying angry tears that not only Sirius got the best friend one could ever have but a best boyfriend too...

Ahhh. Why do we need to show that all the love interest skirt away as soon as the main pairing get together.

Let Lily, Remus spew years in their unrequited feelings. Let them be sad and not being able to get over it for once while James and Sirius are none the wiser and are living blissfully in their own little world....

Agahdgdjd I just finished reading it and I loved it soooo much. Remus and regulus friendship is EVERYTHING to me. The platonic kissing!!???? As an Aspec gal this means so much to me bcs ahhhdghdhd and let’s be real those two deserved a little song after all that tension and then just cute little kisses bcs they both need a good loving friendly kiss aww. And I loved the flirtiness bcs I just know those two would constantly have such good banter and get along and I SOBBED when reg became a part of the lupin family. Also. HOPE LUPIN.!?!??? Fake Dating

Chapter 1 — Bad Ideas

Regulus enjoyed admiring James the same way a person marvels at the stars. He watches from a distance, knowing if he got too close he would only get burned. Today was no different. Regulus sat in the back corner of the library, intending to study but losing focus when he noticed the messy-haired boy sitting with his friends. Regulus stared longingly, a spark of jealousy for his brother balling inside him, leaving a sour taste in his mouth. It wasn’t fair. Sirius got to get as close as he wanted, immune from James’ burning aura. Regulus desperately wished he could approach him and open the floodgates of his feelings. But Regulus knew James could never like someone like him and decided it was pointless to stay in the library when he had schoolwork he desperately needed to get done. He settled on packing his bag and leaving, refusing to give the man he desperately wanted another glance.

James adored the red-headed girl he shared many classes with. She was lovely to be around, had a witty personality, and was selflessness down to her core. James enjoyed her company; plus, his parents would adore her as well. She was sweet when she wanted to be, but also had a bite. James supposed this was what love felt like.

There was only one slight issue: Lily didn’t seem to reciprocate James’ feelings. Not that James would ever force someone into a relationship, that would be awful, but he believed people occasionally need a little nudge.

James had tried many ways to nudge the girl and was quickly running out of ideas. He was brainstorming a new way to ask out Evans when Sirius spoke up interrupting his thoughts.

“Did you hear my darling baby brother is crushing on someone?”

James looked at him quizzically, not sure where this was coming from.

“Since when do you keep up with Regulus?” he asked curiously.

“Doesn’t matter. He’s apparently after his best friend Barty, but that man is so far up Evan’s ass I’m surprised they aren’t a thing yet,” Sirius replied with a grimace.

“Sirius, I’m sure others think the same about you when you’re with Remus,” Peter chimed in, causing the boy Sirius had his head leaned on to snort.

“But Petey dear, I am dating Remus. I get to follow him like a lost puppy,” Sirius declared, throwing in a wink “Anyways, I just thought it was quite funny. He would be the one to fall in love with someone he can’t have.”

James was running out of options and fast. He needed to get Evans to like him before the end of the term. It was already 6th year, and she wasn’t budging. James was so deep in thought he didn’t see the boy in front of him, knocking the books right out of his hands, the impact ripping him from the little world in his head.

“I am so sorry I wasn’t paying attention this is all my fault,” James rambled, not looking at the person he ran into, instead bending to gather the things he caused to clatter to the floor.

“You should walk with your eyes open Potter,” Regulus snapped, his usual venom faltering.

“I’m sorry baby Black,” James joked with a smile, handing the items to him.

He was going to walk away but realized Regulus' face had tinted a shade of pink. He blinked a few times, convinced he was imagining things.

“Great, well, I’ll be going.”

Regulus pushed passed James, and the taller man watched as he made his way down the hall and around the corner. James was trying to process what just happened when he got a brilliant idea.

Regulus had thrown himself onto his bed, staring straight up at the ceiling. His heart was beating out of his chest, and he thanked Merlin he had finished his classes for the day. Running into James was a terrible accident, and Regulus wonders if the universe thought it was funny. One second he’s daydreaming about the other man and the next he’s helplessly watching him gather the belongings he knocked out of his arms. And to ice the cake, he had called him baby. Well, ‘baby black,’ but the second word was irrelevant.

James had gotten too close for comfort, and Regulus did not appreciate the lasting burn it left on his body. Usually, he could control his emotions; he had a lot of practice. But when it came to the tall, messy-haired boy Regulus lost his grip. He couldn’t tell if he loved or loathed it.

Once Regulus’ heart began to beat at a normal pace again, the boy gathered his things and headed to the library. His potions essay would not wait for him to get over his crush on a boy he couldn’t have.

James paced up and down his dorm, waiting for his friends to return from their last lesson of the day. Soon the barking laugh of Sirius could be heard ascending the stairs and James took a deep breath. A vital part of this plan included the approval of the raven-haired boy.

“Prongs! What are you doing here instead of the pitch?”

“I have an idea, but I need your approval before I go ahead with the idea,” James explained, running a hand through his hair and fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.

Sirius narrowed his eyes at the other boy, instinctively moving towards Remus who had accompanied him to the dorms.

“And why do you need my approval?” he questioned with a suspicious frown.

“It involves your younger brother.”

A pause in the conversation turned into a long silence, the older Black brother’s face holding a look James rarely saw anymore. He began to fidget even more, scared Sirius would never speak to him again.

“And how exactly does it include him?”

“You won’t like that either.”

“Spill.”

“So, you know how I really, really want Evans to reciprocate my feelings for her? Well, I thought, y’know, since Regulus also seemed to be struggling with getting Barty to like him, we could maybe help each other out?”

“And how exactly could you two do that?” Sirius questioned, anger slipping from his words and replaced with curiosity.

“Wecouldfakedate”

“Prongs I’m going to need you to tell me in English.”

“Regulus and I could pretend to date each other. I’d make Lily jealous and Regulus would make Barty Jealous. It would be perfect.”

Sirius stared at James for a while, his face blank. Slowly a sardonic smile spread across his face, and a barking laugh tumbled out of his mouth.

“I approve, only because he’d never agree to it,” he smugly replied.

James deflated. “You really think so?”

“I know so.”

“Sirius-“ Remus interjected, flashing James an apologetic look.

“What? It’s Regulus. He’d never agree to this. Plus, what would my parents say?”

“Sirius…. Regulus doesn’t live with them anymore.”

Both James and Sirius’ heads snapped to look at the amber-eyed boy in disbelief.

“What do you mean Rem?” Sirius mumbled.

“He’s been living with the Rosiers Darling. He left at the end of last year.”

“How the fuck do you know this?”

“Sometimes we have prefect rounds together love. We don’t usually talk but one night he just spilled everything. I thought you knew.”

Sirius looked at the other man, an expression of hurt painting his face before quickly flashing away.

“Oh,” is all he said, leaning his face into the other man’s chest. Remus wrapped his arms around him, whispering an apology to James. James stood there awkwardly, not sure what to do with himself.

“James?” came a muffled voice.

“Yeah, Pads?”

“Just don’t hurt him, yeah?”

“I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Regulus was in his usual corner, mind lost in the text his eyes scanned. He was so focused he didn’t notice the man that plagued his every moment standing across the table from where he sat.

“Regulus?” he heard, snapping his head up at the familiar voice.

“James?” he responded, completely caught off guard.

“Can we talk? I think I know a way we can help each other out.”

What?

“Potter I highly doubt you could be of any help to me,” he seethed, hoping he would get the hint and go away.

Regulus scoffed when he instead plopped down in the seat he was standing by.

“I heard about your crush on Barty. And I think just about everyone knows I have my eyes on Lily. So-“

“Who told you that?”

“What?”

Regulus had to fight desperately to hold in a laugh.

“That I have a thing for Barty?”

“Oh um, I’m not sure. I'm guessing you don’t then?” James responded, a slight frown painting his face.

Before Regulus could stop himself he spilled the first thing he could think of that would make the other man‘s smile return.

“No, I do,” he blurted with a grimace. “I just need to know who to silence is all.”

James’ bright, sunny smile came back, Regulus feeling it burn into his memory. He loved that smile, and to have it directed at him made him feel lightheaded.

“Perfect. I have a proposition.”

It took everything in Regulus not to pull a face, keeping his calm, nonchalant demeanor intact.

Did I hear that right? I’ve lost it. I’ve finally lost my sanity. I’ve gone crazy. There is no way James just asked me to pretend to date him. Am I just a pawn to him? No, he thinks he’s also helping me. It wouldn’t hurt to say yes, would it? I mean… if it’s my only chance to ever experience his burn and not feel the pain, why shouldn’t I take it? This is going to hurt. Fuck it, I’ll deal with that later.

“Okay,” he replied, leaning back into his chair.

“Okay?”

“We can pretend to date.”

regulus definitely had a crush on him though, and i feel like remus finds him attractive but sirius would murder him if he ever even voiced that.

like,, ofc with all my ships that involve remus (seerwolf...) remus is too in love with sirius, which he is oblivious to, to focus on the person they do love, just never enough, never more than sirius

so each other's first kiss/proper crush. have made out numerous occasions since.

they so run away from home all the time and just travel to where each other live to grab them on their like 3 day adventure

they're so the time of friends that would date. like if they weren't dating anyone or had a crush on anyone else, they'd get together. but you know what? universe hates them. when lily is crushing/dating, marlene is waiting for her. when marlene is crushing/dating, lily is waiting for her.

it's years of just waiting for the right time but the right time never comes.

peter/regulus- 6/10

the way i view their relationship is quite different to i think how ppl that ship the two view it.

the idea of them two in a relationship or even close friends is ultimately giving me war times where they're both (terrible) death eaters (maybe cause of my fic idk.)

like,, morally grey outcasts that have no one but each other but struggle to trust the other since they know they've both betrayed everyone they love in their life so why wouldn't they do that to each other, they both value their own life above all and are trying to change bit its hard??? such a vibe.

Tell me about the crime fic

oh I love you so much for asking about this!! ok so 'be gay do crime' (this name is truly growing on me maybe ill just keep it) where do I even begin???

ok I think I will just start by writing some of my ideas for it and see where this goes...

right so one of the story lines I am most excited to write about, funnily enough, is Peter! I have so many ideas for him. first of all he has a mad scientist vibe in his lil poison making underground bunker lab. this guy has zero fear. like, there are no windows in this bunker. he is experimenting and creating new poisons. no fucks are given he is just down there living his best life. OH And his friendship with jamesss!!! god I am so excited about this it is so fucking intense but like in a very weird way. when I finish working on regulus's pov chapter and start working on peter's just know that I will be sending you extensive voice notes about them. (I don't want to say too much here because yknow, gotta keep some things a mystery). I will say though that I am very excited to write his childhood bits because the scene where he comes out as trans to James is so precious to me.

oh and JAMES. god what a mess. he thinks he has everything under control. he thinks he is such a chill guy. honey... sweetheart... I love you... I adore you... but you are a MESS. like, there are so many complicated things going on for him and I will be focusing quite a lot on his relationship with his parents. I know that probably some people will not like that they aren't portrayed as the perfect family but that is just not them in this. the fact that Effie is in the assassin network but Fleamont isn't?? like thats just such a fucked up situation. because when the moment comes for him to choose whether he will also 'sell his soul' to the network he has to betray one of them. and already his parents have a complicated relationship because of their crazily different views on morality and just life in general so being in the middle of that? yeah James has a lot of things he needs to address in that brain of his. it also doesn't help that his bestie sirius is also a MESS so together... yeah

ANYWAY MOVING ON

I wrote this whole thing without even mentioning regulus who's chapter I have been working on this whole time... but YEAH so regulus is a force to be reckoned with. you know how in the vampire diaries they can just switch off their emotions? yeah so that is what regulus thinks he has done. he is very delusional. but it works for him (I mean, it doesn't, he is fucked. but he thinks he is in control so thats all good... it isn't... but-) what else? oh yes how could I not mention how fucking sexy this lil guy is when he murders people? fucking hell. oh and also him and James. lol. hehe. giggling.

ok I really do need to go to sleep soon so I shall do remus and then perhaps another post for the girls tommorow because I have PLANS for them and they are all so sexy and smart and insane and psychotic and - <3 oh and also Evan and Barty!!! i love them In this so much and you will love Barty. OKAY obviously theres like The Big Stuff that happened in this chapter (REGULUS i was rly hoping he would come in and i like. weirdly had an image of this scene happening where he just Shows Up at siriuss place the other day when i was thinking abt ywlm and i was hoping it would happen!!!) but also i love siriuss little outfits this chapter SO MUCH the thumb hole shirts!! the MESH DRESS!!!!! james matchmaking the LOOK he gave sirius when remus came to the thrift had me cackling we all know that LOOK!!

ALSO sirius and lily trans besties agenda!!!! one of the canon things that gets overlooked that annoys me is that sirius was close to lily as well as james!!! i love that moment where they were just squinting at each other and i love that they swapped numbers i hope we see more of lily and mary 💚💚💚

SO, yes, regulus was always going to just - show up unannounced. i’ve had a few ppl ask me about how he knew where sirius lives and it’s gonna be explained in the next chapter, but like, yeah - he’s had a weird few years while sirius has been gone. AND the mesh dress might make a comeback later xx

we will def see more of both of them - more lily than mary, bc her friendship & solidarity with sirius is so important. trans ppl seeing each other and just - knowing, is a thing i’ve experienced a lot and it just feels so good. to be seen in a way that matters like that. their friendship is really special & they’ll get to hang out more!

remus is down so bad like - we’re in sirius’s head, so we don’t know what’s going on with remus but like he is also starin at his phone all day, and leaving for work early to see sirius and has already told his parents all about sirius. they are so mutually into each other.

i didn’t want this fic to get heavy - at the core of it, it’s a lighthearted little romcom - but it was also important to me to talk about the day-to-day things that we deal with, and how sirius is navigating that.

to be honest, i literally just decided that last minute and stuck it in bc it felt weird that i never specify where the fic is taking place. there’s no real reason for it other than my wife loves seattle and wants us to settle down there someday!

NO EXACTLY!!! like i'm truly and genuinely not opposed to romantic prongsfoot or wolfstarbucks, i've read some great fics with both, but in a wolfstar or jegulus fic (or even jily) i really don't need it emphasized OVER AND OVER that remus & regulus are 'second choices' or not as important. might be just me, but i don't tend to rank my relationships with people?? so i don't see why it's so commonplace for this to exist where prongsfoot is concerned?? AND YES!!! i think people have to realize that affection is not inherently romantic. i'm not a very affectionate person in general, but holding ur friends hand or cuddling them or giving a kiss on the cheek or playing with their hair... these aren't things you can only do if your relationship teeters into romance. i truly think we'd all be a lot happier if we all agreed upon and accepted that lol. not every friendship has to end in friends to lovers to be valid.

GOOD MORNING ANON, I JUST WOKE UP AND I'M READY TO HAVE OPINIONS ALL OVER MY BLOG.

I'm going to disappoint you with this one, though, because my opinion is that I don't care about Pandora and thus don't have any opinion on this fanon friendship 😂

I am actually not interested in any of the characters who don’t appear in the books, or who only get a one-line mention. Pandora, Evan, Mary, Marlene, Dorcas. Barty gets more than a one-line mention but he’s a Slytherin and we all know I don’t like Slytherins. Regulus is the only valid Slytherin and that’s because he’s basically a Gryffindor (hello, he tried to destroy a Horcrux and bring down Voldy as a teenager???). 

But yeah, does Pandora even appear in the books, or do we only know about her through the wiki? I honestly had to look Mary and Evan up when I started seeing people writing about them, because I just thought that they were fanon OCs that everyone was writing about now. Marlene and Dorcas get mentioned once by name by Moody in OOTP, right, and then never again? Sorry, but I don’t have interest in characters that are basically OCs. I already write original fiction, where I have to construct a character from scratch. I’m not interested in doing it in my fanfiction writing too, and I don’t really care for other people’s OCs in fanfic. 

If we actually do see any of these characters in books 6 and 7, sorry, I don’t remember those books because Sirius was dead and Remus was straight. They weren’t worth keeping in my memory, except the R.A.B. bits.

And I know I’m gonna have an anon in my inbox now complaining that we don’t see Regulus or James on page technically, either, but at least we know a good deal about those characters. I know nothing about Pandora or the others, so I don’t care about them. 

And when it comes down to it, the only character I actually care about is Sirius. Am I interested in reading fic about Remus, Regulus, Harry, or James on their own, without Sirius there? No, I am not. 

None of this is to say that people shouldn’t be writing about these characters, or shouldn’t be writing OCs in their fanfic! You can do what you want! But you came here asking for my opinion, and this is my opinion 😂 If you like reading and writing about the Pandora & Regulus friendship, I hope it brings you much joy. Sorry you have awakened my kvetching this early in the morning.
