the concept is simple, four walls and a door, a room at the center that's not locked but you don't leave anyway a car in the driveway would start if you tried it the layout is something you should know intimately and yet not at all; pour over the blueprints like a study of self, an outline of body and psyche. Start off with basic schematics, ask the obvious questions, "how big is the kitchen?" the answer being about as big as your heart, "Does it have a basement?" sure but only if your childhood home did "what about an attic?" maybe, if you know that you are hiding something from yourself, "and a crawlspace?" well, you've got veins, too, don't you? and then lastly, redundantly, "how many bedrooms?" but you know that it doesn't really matter, your brain isn't to be trusted here

coming up with a fic where Tony is a ghost tethered to Gregory after GGY kills him and it's just Tony having watched Gregory be mind controlled and then free himself unknowingly and wake up with memory loss and survive a night at the pizzaplex all while Tony cant talk to him or even help him.

afterwards Tony finding out how to show himself as a ghost and Gregory seeing him and just being reminded of GGY and everything that happened and remembering it all and freaking out.

the idea of Tony being a ghost and stuck tethered to his killer + ex-friend but maybe hes actually good? and he doesn't know how to feel about it because as a detective he realizes that Gregory isnt himself while doing all of these things but also... Gregory killed him

trying 2 incorporate soapkonig into my soapghost headcanons and i just think that soap has an interest in open relationships and ghost isn't a fan of typical relationship conventions anyway so he's like "yeah go crazy i just hope you do it safely and come back alive" so yeah soap will occasionally go out to sleep with other people (but it's actually just one other dude-- konig) and as it turns out, while kortac and the 141 are fucking enemies, soap and konig have been sneaking around and fucking around. they met in the battlefield trying to kill each other, ended up seeing each other again nearby a bar, soap wanted peace (and also had every intention to climb konig like a tree) and BOOM. sex!

also they don't really try talking because soap wasn't initially interested while konig was too anxious to speak about anything else but as soon as they did soap developed #Feewings and konig also got attached because soap is sweet and charming so now they have to hash out what the fuck they're gonna do because kortac and 141 shouldn't know and GHOST ESPECIALLY shouldn't know and oops! all messy from here :3

I think for my main fic Hyrule and Wild Have a Hard Time I'm going to reduce the minimum chapter word count from 8,000 words to 4,000. I really don't want to do this but I'm at a lull in the story when I'm past all the fun stuff in the beginning of the story and I'm not to the fun exciting bits to come in the climax and when I open the document I just get so discouraged cuz I've only written 1k words for the next chapter and it'll take weeks to write the other 7k words. I know from my two 1k-words-per-chapter fics that short chapters get written faster and I have more motivation to write those stories. So I figure 4k words at least for this coming H&W HaHT chapter and maybe for a couple of chapters and then we'll see how things are going.

watched Kindred Spirits and like. I knew Vlad's writing was just gonna get more and more disappointing as the show went on and so I should'nt've been disappointed, and yet I still was while watching bc like,,,,, HE DESERVES A REDEMPTION ARC??????? In Kindred Spirits this man literally said "I only ever wanted love" and was absolutely DELIGHTED when Danielle called him dad, and in Maternal Instincts he legit teared up when Danny supposedly agreed to be his son and asked for a hug. the whole reason this man is evil is because he just wants a FAMILY and he's willing to go to any lengths to get it, and if that's not the textbook definition of "sympathetic villain" (and "sad little meow meow") then idk what is

so, I read the full fanlore page for that whole ‘fandom ghost’ thing about m/m and the way there’s this one character that keeps being written into every character over and over, across pairings, inserted into a usually minor or underdeveloped character, etc

and there was a section on a female ghost that also tends to show up in a lot of these m/m fics, a smart, sassy, beautiful female character who is also reduced to being an enabler for the m/m ship, etc. 

And while I don’t really read m/m, that does track with my limited exposure.

BUT, I think there is also a fandom ghost in f/f fic too. I honestly don’t read the wider f/f widely enough to articulate it as much, just what’s in my fandoms and I don’t really have an expansive set of them or add new ones that easily.

BUT in my experience, and from what I see in summaries and tags on ao3 and posts here on tumblr, there is a common character archtype wedged into characters regardless of if they fit, across a lot of femmeslash stories.

I can’t give a solid point by point as I write this at 5 in the morning, coming off stewing over the thoughts in my sleep, or so it feels, but like:

the m/m fandom ghost is a type a personality, controlled and tsundere and hypercompetent and gets wrecked by the messy guy that comes in and destroys their carefully crafted life, etc.

The f/f fandom ghost that I’ve seen is actually the opposite. That is, when given two characters that seem like a viable ship, one of the characters is whacked with a hammer until she fits a mold: an often clumsy or perhaps more accurately careless, butch (and made more so than her canon presentation), very muscular (again, more so than her canon presentation), often quite a ladies woman, very toppy, definitely plays opposite a more repressed or controlled character (but usually one who is bettered rooted in canon as being that), and destroys that character’s neat little world. They are usually, despite their butchness, a lot sillier or softer outside the bedroom, again, and they think sunshine comes out of the other character’s ass even before they get together and -

I’m starting to run into some limitations on the specific words because I just don’t read this enough to stop and articulate it (because I often close out of F/F fics that get too into wedging the characters into archetypes like this rather than the characters themselves (because it does happen a lot) but I very much do have a ‘I know it when I see it’ thing happening here.

I’ve seen it crop up in Buffy/Faith, Kara/Lena, Regina/Emma and in others I have read less extensively (there are F/F ships I’ve never seen it in, like Tara/Willow) that I’m not thinking of specifically

And like, there is a bit of a difference between the m/m fandom ghost, which is really the same character being dressed in a new skin over and over, and that skin usually being a minor or secondary character, etc, and this f/f one, which is more likely (but not always) to be fit into a fairly prominent character, and is less like one character wearing different skin and more many square characters being badly bashed into one round hole, but

I feel like I’m on to something here. For some femmeslash writers, there really are a lot of fics that feel like they’re not writing the two characters. They’re writing the one character and an archetype that may not actually fit the other character all that well, but damn the Torpedos and full speed ahead.

Well I'd say go for it. Your L/emm fic already has more actual notes than mine got lol (tbf, yours has a more interesting concept, whereas mine is basically 2k words of generic vore fluff). I personally would be interested in a continuation; you've proven to have some pretty unique ideas. Not all, but some ;) /lh /hj

And for the question, that's the end result I'm most comfortable with. I'd maybe be okay with another option or two, so long as it remains classified as nonsexual and safe. like I'd maybe be okay with digestion and reformation, if the digestion doesn't go into too much detail. plus h/k already has a built-in mechanic for how Ghost could come back, so

Dp x Dc fic idea that wouldn't let me sleep:

"No, you don't understand! I need my powers. I'll die without them!" Danny pleaded with the officer in front of him.

"Sure, kid, and I need a burger. You'll be just fine without your flight or superstrength or whatever. Look, I see kids like you all the time nowadays. You think just because you have a few powers, you can become some kind of hero. You run away from home, cause trouble in the name of 'justice' or whatever. Then reality hits. You start stealing. What's a few stolen bucks or candy bars in the name of the greater good, right? It's a downward spiral from there. Seems you were pretty far down the spiral. Beating up government agents? Kid, there is no way in hell I'm letting you out of here without the meta power suppressant collar. You're lucky Mr. Wayne was so generous and decided to foster you until we find your parents. I would've sent your troublesome ass back to juvie."

I was thinking this was a bad timeline where the Fenton parents died and Danny ran away. The power suppressing collar does work on him somehow, and cuts him off from his ghost half, which stops the ectoplasm that was keeping him alive since the accident.

I pictured Bruce as the foster parent that decided to help the troubled teen, but it could be anyone. Imagine if Lex Luthor decided he wanted to "help" (read: manipulate the young meta into doing his bidding) Danny instead. Extra angst.
