The first, when Felix fell down those stairs. He was a clumsy kid, but he always managed to get up after his spills. As he laid there, silent, making no moves to right himself, Escell felt something was off. He crossed the room with long strides, lips moving in a silent prayer of their own accord, as realization sets in that his worst nightmare has just begun to play out before his eyes.

He hadn't seen Felix in years when he caught word that the Varela boy had passed. And yet, his heart ached with such a heaviness that he could only whisper a prayer into the ether that he wouldn't lose Felix a second time.

Casimir's Beast HCs

I said it would be a while before I posted something, right before I just sat down and wrote an entire scenario/imagine/headcanon thing. Strike while the iron's hot, I guess!

I haven't edited this much, I just wanted to post this while I still had the attention-span. Shoutout to anyone still into Monster Manor, I sure am. ✌🏽If you have any ideas or requests, my inbox is open as always!

-It’s hard to see on certain occasions, as Casimir tends to crouch and bend lower to the ground during his transformation, but he has a heart-shaped pattern on his abdomen, towards the side of his ribcage. It’s a pattern that shows on his fur more prominently, and shows up as a small birthmark in his human-form. 

-He’s embarrassed to admit or acknowledge its existence. 

-Casimir tends to walk on all fours, but standing up, reaches ~7 feet tall, and his steps are very long; He can close distances very quickly that way, which makes for a more terrifying thought. 

-According to Casimir, the deity that cursed him planned for him to act as “prey”. However, in the main story, and according to the tales of the Beast of Gevaudan, it seems more of a “predator” type of attack. So…I headcanon that Casimir was meant to be a prey animal, but his anger, grief, and frustration twisted the curse’s effects until he was lashing out at himself and others for years. 

-When confronted with your nature, a little bit of that aggression dissipates more and more, thanks to your self-preservation and the House’s refusal to let Casimir hurt you. Not that he would want to, anyway. 

-For the first few times after that first transformation, Casimir hides away until the curse passes. It’s hard to find him, as he moves to the more unkempt parts of the House to withdraw from you, not wanting to be seen, or risking hurting you. 

-However, as time goes on, you’ll find glimpses of the beast lurking around corners and walls. Not threateningly, but….Almost hesitant. Scared. He recoils from your attempts to reach out to him, and sticks to sniffing your hand and growling, before slouching away to sulk. 

-It takes a while for him to finally approach you…Looming over you in wait. Waiting for what? He doesn’t know, and neither do you. So, with caution but kindness, you talk to him, keeping your physical touch away. You assure him you’re not going to hurt him, you’re here to help, just like you always have. 

-It takes even longer for him to sit next to you, to sniff your hair and hand, keeping the sharp horns away, his teeth hidden and claws curled. The untransformed Casimir knows you, and knows your intentions. This beast does not, and so it’s building another relationship from the ground. Just….With a little more danger. Neither of you want to be hurt. 

-When you tell Casimir your progress, he’s…Baffled? Flabbergasted? Shocked, horrified- You get the idea. 

-”You’ve been doing what??” 

-He is not aware of any of this, and can only imagine glimpses of you if he really tries. When he transforms, it is out of his control, and his mind. 

-When the initial emotions simmer down, he’s not sure what to feel, or what to think. For 200 years, more than that, he’s been a threat and a danger to everything and everyone around him. And now, what you’re telling him is….He’s changing. For the better? It sounds impossible. 

-But, somehow, you’re a master of the impossible. And so it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. 

-He makes another vow, and takes the effort, too, to make the House a better place. It’s the least he can do, but he wants to do something. 

-He still has many thoughts and feelings about his curse, too complex to get into. It sends him into bouts of silence sometimes, as he ponders over a project or task. He does what he can to make you feel safe and comfortable, and reminds you to please…Be careful. 

-And you do. The beast seems to understand that as well, still shy of your touch and apprehensive at best. But you can’t help but smile a little at the progress, seeing Casimir sleeping in a block of sunlight through a window. 

-There are things you might not ever understand, or see for yourself. But you can at least attest to one thing: 

-One step at a time, things are getting better for them both.

Nicky Valentino was an interesting man, anyone could have told you as much. Enticing, attractive without question. Witty and intelligent, always seeming to know just what to do. Respected by nearly everyone you had met, and while he tried to keep those parts of himself hidden from you best as he could you knew more than a few feared him as well, for good reason.

Yet to you he was the sweetest he could be, having been by your side since the day you came here. With you he was gentle, honest, there wasn't a question he wouldn't answer you. Except one: Why? You weren't part of his circles, his world, or even his time. You had shown up one day out of thin air and he had simply gone with it. Even when you told him everything – in hindsight it's a miracle you didn't make a fool out of yourself – he had simply accepted all you told him. You only realized it later – he had accepted it. You had told him you're from the future and he believed it immediately. Certainly no one else would have, not without requesting proof (you had thought that was his intention when asking about baseball, he didn't seem to care you couldn't answer him though). But he believed it. What was it that made him so open to the idea? He was certainly not a naive man, but he didn't even seem to have so much as considered you might not tell the truth.

That day you learned something – Nicky Valentino was a dreamer. Ever since then you started paying more attention to it, and you realized it wasn't a hidden trait at all, in fact it was quite obvious if you didn't let your idea of him as a charming mafia boss from the movies blind you. He was realistic and calculated in terms of business, but in the brief moments it could be forgotten about he almost seemed like he would stop at a flower to smell it (well, not quite – he did stop at florists to get a bouquet for you multiple times though so you'd let that count).

It was most obvious when you both talked about the future. He wanted to go to Hollywood, live a new life, and to have you with him throughout all of it. Though really, he let you decide if to do it or stay in New York, so perhaps the only thing in this future he seemed to be fully set on was having you there. The way his eyes seemed to sparkle as he pictured this life he imagined for the both of you showed glimpses of stories you hoped he'd one day tell you. You could not speak their language, but you saw something in them you didn't expect. Recognition.

While you were wondering why he would so simply accept your story of having been brought here from the future, he must have been wondering why you were so willing to leave that life behind. But he wasn't wondering that, you realized, because he knew. He understood. Why would he question how and why you were brought here when you barely even did so yourself? You didn't really question it, you didn't want to. This straight-from-the-movies life and Nicky gave you a heaven sent chance at getting all you had wanted and waited for for so long, like hell you were gonna ruin it by overthinking. Maybe it was the same for Nicky. Maybe he had wanted and waited for something a long time as well.

Maybe Nicky Valentino truly was a dreamer.

And maybe, just maybe, you were his dream.

Alternate take on Star's human form and personality in the concept for "Wish"

For the uninitiated, Star from Disney's most recent film "Wish" was intended to be able to take human form and have a romance with Asha. His personality was inspired by Genie and Peter Pan, being a comedic and heartfelt character. I really love this version of him, and I wish he had become a part of the final product, but I did want to introduce an alternate angle to him, both in designs (but I can't draw so I'm using images) and personality.

Design--While a lot of people love the gold aesthetic Star has, I'm actually surprised that blues, whites, and silvers weren't considered. It definitely matches the sky, as well as being different from how you usually see yellow/golden stars. IMO, I'd want Star's appearance to be similar to Astrellio's in "Fictif," and use similar shades to the glowing magic seen during Giselle's transformation in "Enchanted."

Personality--In contrast to the naivete and goofiness of his intended personality, I'd argue for a wiser, albeit playful personality, owing to his (supposed) age and Asha and co. rubbing off on him. I imagine he teases and charms Asha without coming off as sleazy or annoying. Howl from Studio Ghibli's "Howl's Moving Castle" is definitely a similar personality I'd akin him to.
