head-canon For Ace Foundation’s Masquerade Ball

here are the head-canons of Choi Hajoon during his attendance at the Ace Foundation’s Masquerade Ball

As I sadly missed the deadline for the event, I'd like to share some head canons I envisioned for Hajoon's attendance, from his arrival to his departure. Feel free to use the timeline as knowledge for your muses.

7.30 pm - Choi Hajoon's tardiness to the event was attributed to a prior family gathering. Arriving solo, he strategically positioned himself behind other guests, seeking anonymity amidst the crowd.. 

8.00 pm - At dinner, Hajoon mingled with the other guests, engaging in casual conversations. Since it was his first time attending the ball, he was apprehensive about revealing his true identity. To avoid attracting suspicion about his political affiliation, Hajoon adopted an alias and portrayed himself as a businessman working in the import goods industry.

9.30 pm - With minimal enthusiasm, he observed the auction, for art had never held his attention.

10.00 pm - At the ball's live performances, Hajoon discreetly positioned himself in a tranquil corner. To pass the time, he enjoyed a few beverages and snacks. Later, in search of some refreshing air, he strolled out into the backyard.

Around 11 pm - During a smoking break, a Chessmaster approached Hajoon and requested his presence at a concealed meeting location. Several attendees expressed surprise upon seeing Hajoon, unaware that other Chessmasters had also been invited.

Taken aback by Go Jihoon's disappointment, Hajoon pondered whether his honest answers during the interview and his efforts to maintain the club's privacy were misguided. As the secret meeting concluded, Hajoon promptly approached Go Jihoon to address any perceived failures. However, instead of acknowledging Hajoon's efforts, Go Jihoon expressed his profound disappointment in Hajoon's inability to meet his expectations. He sternly warned Hajoon to exercise greater discretion, or risk jeopardizing his career.

Feeling deflated, Hajoon lost interest in the event and decided to leave before the mask unveiling session.

With the robe's belt securely fastened around his waist, Hajoon sat in the cozy confines of his family home, engrossed in the invitation letter. Jeju Island's summer was unlikely to be as pleasant, but at least it wouldn't be as dreary as Seoul, with its perpetual fog. The unrelenting grayness had a way of dampening one's spirits in an instant.

“Mr. Yoon,” Hajoon summoned his butler and returned the exclusive invitation letter expressly addressed to him. “Burn this.Make sure nothing remains..”

Hajoon didn’t forget to thank his old butler. Time had passed since his last invitation to a formal gathering of The King's Club members. As far as he could recall, being invited to an event was not uncommon, yet the exclusive access to the club had lost its allure over time. Despite once standing tall atop the world, his glory days now seemed distant, overshadowed by the memory and grave of an old friend.

However, they would not be overjoyed by the sudden alteration in plans, as Hajoon was once again compelled to concoct an excuse to postpone the arranged marriage meeting. Hajoon's parents, being fellow alumni of the club, would still comprehend his request knowing it would upset them if Hajoon missed the flight to Jeju Island.

05.45PM Upon checking the time, Choi Hajoon realized he had arrived earlier than anticipated. You'll notice a tall figure adorned in semi-formal attire from head to toe. He sports a sleek black deep round neck tee, offering respite from the summer heat. A set of black fitted suits and leather boots complete the ensemble, creating a cohesive and sophisticated look. To add a touch of personality, he accessorizes with yellow gold pieces around his neck and fingers, enhancing the overall aesthetic. However, the venue was already filled with familiar faces he had deliberately avoided for years. As their eyes met, Hajoon gave them his usual head-to-toe scrutiny, accompanied by his customary chin lift. He chose to walk away silently, seeing no reason to engage with individuals associated with his past.

06.00PM Stepping outside the stuffy room, he breathed in the fresh air and relished the open space of the pergola. The company of tolerable faces was a welcome change, and he found himself engaging in light conversation. However, an inexplicable unease lingered within him. The room's atmosphere, be it the air or the design, evoked memories of the tragic day when his friend, Noh Hyungseo, was discovered lifeless. Fortunately, he was not alone in experiencing this discomfort.

06.15PM After enjoying a smoke in the pergola with friends, Hajoon decided to explore the bar. While heading towards a room across the inner court, Hajoon unexpectedly encountered a familiar face he hadn't seen in a while. Filled with excitement, they sat together at the bar, engaging in an intimate conversation. During their chat, Hajoon mentioned the invitation he had received, signed by the 2019 Queen. However, to his surprise, the other person's invitation bore a different signature. This peculiar discovery left Hajoon perplexed, as he had assumed the event was organized by the 2019 Queen.

At around 06.55PM., Hajoon scanned the room, searching for Jihye, the reigning 2019 Queen. He approached her, initiating a casual conversation to break the ice. As the moment felt right, Hajoon delicately brought up the invitation letter, feigning gratitude to express his thanks. However, his gesture was met with a puzzling expression from Jihye. The question lingered in the air: who, exactly, had extended the invitation for dinner?

07.15PM Amidst the tranquility, a sudden splash and a piercing scream jolted Choi Hajoon. Drawn by the commotion, he rushed towards the source of the noise, only to find Zhang Xiaotian, fully clothed, having unexpectedly slipped into the pool. However, it was the panic-stricken expression on Bae Yunhee's face that truly alarmed Hajoon. He followed her gaze and his eyes fell upon a sight that sent a shiver down his spine - a body. The realization struck him that someone had thought it would be humorous to play a prank involving the tragic death of someone dear to him. Incensed, Hajoon screamed at the staff, demanding that they remove the toy from the water, causing confusion among some of the onlookers. It was clear that Choi Hajoon had lost his composure in the face of this cruel prank.

07.30PM During dinner, Hajoon's hands trembled with nervousness, haunted by images of the past that flickered like an old film, from the moment Noh Hyungseo went missing to the discovery of his lifeless body. He remained mostly silent throughout the meal, managing only a few bites before politely excusing himself to the pergola. There, he indulged in a cigarette before returning to the family house in Jeju.
