I posted this before but deleted it both because I was embarrassed and because I was worried I'd severely fucked up Astarion's age for the nth time, originally referenced from This Post. But I've seen many more analyses and I think it's right. I think it is. Anyway!

EDIT: I DID GET HIS AGE WRONG because that is the post I meant to reference. But I'm not fixing it. 232.

I'll put the above image chopped up below the cut so it's easier viewing for the curious. And I'll ramble a bit more (bg3 spoilers, discussion of vampirism and character deaths).

In my headcanons, Astarion neither remains a spawn nor becomes the Vampire Ascendant, he becomes a vampire, and some hundreds of years later he turns Étoile to a vampire as well (this post / these headcanons need reviewing after the epilogue changes with the Crown, but we'll see).

With this in mind, I was thinking of Halsin being the longest of their lovers and how Étoile could possibly handle his death:

Étoile and Astarion occupied on some adventure / business or other, and when they return, an unaffected or perhaps impatient messenger has come to deliver news of Halsin's death. And it is so long after the others of their relevant, initial, adventuring party has passed (or maybe not. Lae'zel is a wild card (no aging on the astral plane)). Still, i can imagine one of them snapping. I think it's more interesting if it's Étoile, saying aloud that the messenger is mistaken, that surely the message is that Halsin's ill and is calling to see them a final time — Astarion's near shouting in embarrassment and worry, telling the messenger to go, calling Étoile's name, grabbing their arm until Étoile says loudly that they heard them. They heard what they said. And also sends the poor messenger away.

But then I started considering an alternative which I felt was ooc for Halsin from the base game but which I think is more possible / within the scope of his character after the addition of the epilogue. Reminder that Étoile is a paladin of the neutral evil goddess Auril, started bg3 as neutral good but whom I consider neutral evil, and is an Oathbreaker by the end of their adventure:

Halsin at like 820 or older, life expectancy 700-1000, veering wildly between peace with the natural order of things and intense discomfort with things that feel unfinished, the way they always do. And sometime with Étoile leaned against his chest he speaks of Silvanus, the Oakfather, of children and elders in all families of creatures have come and gone, of how his druidic order has changed more slowly than a tree spreads its roots, and how never in all that time did Étoile ask him to abandon his god and his (god's) comfort for the sake of vampirism and eternity. Fondly, expecting Halsin to imagine it an irritation after his speech, Étoile recalls that Astarion did, three hundred or so years ago. Étoile points out that they know the comfort they found in their worship, and they would never have sought to steal that from him (Halsin). To be a vampire is unnatural, lost to his Oakfather. Halsin points out that he has felt that Étoile has wanted to ask before, even if it has always remained unsaid, in the emptiness in their chest (lack of heartbeat), in the slant of their mouth when his (Halsin's) movement is broken with age, in how they've (Étoile has) breathed in his silver hair the more it's overcome him, something that felt respectful once, but now he's past where his end should have been, and the temptation of rekindling old strengths, the hope of another thousand years, through vampirism, shames him (Halsin) greatly. The selfishness of an old mind. Why wouldn't it have felt like a possibility a hundred years ago, two hundred, more? How could he dare to think of continuing a protection of his forest, of caring for his kin, if he lost all connection to them, and even fears what makes them the same in their morality so much that he would dare forsake it. If he was going to lose his faith, why wouldn't he have done so when he was younger and different, except that he was stronger then, in body and in mind. And yet what difference would there be, feasting upon the wild in the woods? And Étoile would be blunt about the differences, and about how there are even laws now, that they helped put in place. "They" could punish them both greatly for this, but the transformation itself would be their shared shame. He could be their first spawn, and perhaps their only, but if he wanted this now — that it was no corruption of age, just a changed heart. And they would happily accept him into their home if all beasts and men turned from him as a decree from his Oakfather -- but he would have to be sure, because the fallout could be immeasurable. Étoile would try to do it permissably, but they would turn Halsin in secret, if need be. And what if "they" were like. fucking no???? and to ensure you don't do this thing we're going to keep you sealed, either in an area or in a fucking coffin until your druid has passed. (Astarion would lose his fucking mind.)

Abbreviated:

Halsin: what if i've lived long enough to see myself become the villain. Étoile: well my ship has sailed, and you know, if i meet you in hell then it's not hell

I think though that Halsin's village would have warm, clean shelters under the ground, just below the surface as if to shelter from storms, but well-used and familiar to vampires after years of shared knowledge and resources. They'd be glad to claim him.

OH! And Étoile's birthday is Oct 20th (their date of creation during early access was Oct 20 2020), I gave Astarion Sept 22nd (first day of autumn), and Halsin May 13th (he seems like a Taurus and I figured he'd be worn and irksome about having a birthday that often falls on a day associated with bad luck (Friday the 13th)).

Shameless Self-Promotion Sunday

Despite not posting anything in a minute, I have a lot of WIPs I’ve been switching back and forth between this week. (I got glasses and I can actually look at a computer screen and not squint so I’ve been writing more). 99% of this is Veilguard related, but I do have one BG3 piece in the works as well.

Currently wrapping up chapter 4 of Think Nothing, Feel Nothing. Which I frequently refer to as “Rook is stuck in Fade jail and Lucanis is Not Okay”. I typically do long chapters (like 10-15k words per chapter), but I wanted to do something a little different and make them a bit shorter becwude I know not everyone likes a super drawn out chapter. Updates for this are unfortunately slow because I’m always super busy, but it’s a work in progress. I’m very exited for this fic and I’m hoping to post updates more quickly but don’t hold me to it because I say that and then it never happens. Hoping to have the next chapter up some time this week.

I won’t post it for a while, but I’ve written a little bit more on my Lucanis and Crow Rook almost smut piece. It’s a very hands on and up close demonstration from Lucanis on how Rook should properly sharpen her knives. This has been rotting my brain for like a month I’m very happy whenever I work on it.

It’s been a week since I posted this so I’ll mention it, but I made a little pre-Veilguard mini fic based on a Rook ask prompt that you can find here. I know back stories for Rook’s aren’t always super popular, but any chance I have to ramble about my Rook I’m absolutely going to take it because I love her. Anyway, Fates Collide is a pre-Veilguard mini fic where Rook, before she was Rook, and Lucanis quite literally run into each other the night of The Wigmaker Job.

And finally, and not Dragon Age related, I’ve also got a BG3 Halsin smut piece in the works. Halsin will forever be my favorite man of all time and I sometimes forget I can write smut for him whenever I want. It’s a complete PWP of Halsin getting a little sloppy toppy in a Baldur’s Gate park with Tav. You know, something to casually write about while on my lunch breaks. I don’t have enough actually written to justify a WIP Wednesday yet, but I do I have it planned out and I think I have like 10 sentences written for it. It won’t be posted for a long while, but it’s brewing in my WIP folder.

Anyway I think that’s it for this week! Hoping to get one chapter posted this week and keep working on all the other WIPs in the meantime.

so i'm gonna cheat and do the one person i can't really tag, because she isn't super active on tumblr - my irl best friend, audrey. i met that girl in seventh grade, and it's 10+ years later, and she's still my favorite person ever. she's the first person i tell about my new stories. she's (usually) one of my first readers. she watched me write my first fanfic at 12, and was the one sitting with me in a denny's at 3 am when i was writing shire. not even posting it yet. just watching me go insane about eddie munson, and being my number one motivator for still writing the story, even if i never posted it. i can't even name just one nice thing about her. she is so fucking funny, she is so fucking smart, she is so fucking talented. her mind never ceases to amaze me, and how she carries herself through the world? just - i want to be her when i'm older. i love her so much, and she's genuinely my soulmate. she has seen me at my absolute worst, has listened to ramble about the dumbest things possible, has made me laugh so hard i've cried when i thought i was just going to finally break for a final irreparable time or that the earth was going to crack open and swallow me whole.

i can only hope that i'm half as good to her as she is to me. she deserves all the good in the world, and i really hope i help offer her a fraction of the joy she deserves in this lifetime.

WIP whenever!

@deputyash @strangefable @cassietrn & @inafieldofdaisies all tagged me to do WIP Wednesday over the past few weeks 😬 but it's 10 minutes into Friday for me so it's a whenever with apologies for the somewhat giant delays! 💙💙💙

This WIP isn't art or writing it's cosplay cause that's what I'm working on! I do have a little written thing coming together but it's all in my head, almost fully formed but I haven't done any typing. Oop.

Anyway! I'm working on a Gale BG3 cosplay & wizard robes for my Dark Urge wizard Mercy. At the same time cause they're the same robes, Mercy was a test of the pattern & it turned out fantastically so it's time to start on Gale. I like to cosplay my video game boyfriends. Don't judge me.

Patterning this belt made me want to cry so many times but Gale's is now done except the press studs to close it & Mercy's is ready to be riveted together tomorrow.

Front & back view of Mercy's robes! They were supposed to be a practice really but I went a bit nuts, overlayed a floral black lace over a colour shift purple for the sleeves, same purple for the little sash-y thing on the front. Metallic copper for the back panel/belt & gauntlets (which are nowhere in any photos cause I haven't patterned them yet)

Mercy is a necromancy wizard so I wanted dark & a bit creepy, so the purple/green shift was perfect. It's curtains I picked up from Savers a while ago. The lace was also thrifted yeeeears ago from a theatre sale, black was destined for some forgotten project, Jedi robes maybe? I only bought the copper leatherette for these robes, very good job if I may congratulate myself a little. ☺️

Closer view mostly cause I love how this shows the colour shift in the purple. The gold buttons are temporary placeholders til the actual fastenings arrive, ordered them from an Etsy store called IllustrisModels! 2 sets one for her, one for him.

Finally, & I know this one is boring, fabric choices for Gale! It's a purple linen, a red velvet & 2 brown suedes, the darker one the belt & gauntlets are made of & a lighter brown for the shoulder/back piece. I did have to buy the linen for this & linen is expensive but it was on sale. I realise I'm talking a lot about purchases for seemingly no reason, I had a goal this year to destash as much fabric as I could instead of buying fabric but I did give myself allowance to buy some cause specific projects need specific things sometimes!

That's it! That's my current project! With a lot of rambling. I'm excited to get them done & have nowhere to wear them. But I might wear the black robes out to lunch or something if we go somewhere fancy. Technically *not* cosplay. Just *inspired* and therefore acceptable. Says me.

notes: I did change hellbeast to gnolls because they almost ended my duo run in BG3 and I'm still processing the insanity that was that fight. I thought Astarion and Lae'zel could waltz right through but boy was I wrong. Next time, it's on sight.

Exploring the Risen Road, you and the party hoped to find treasure and camp supplies. Not chaos.

The day had been going so well. The pesky goblins in the Blighted Village proved no match for the group of you. While Shadowheart and Lae'zel had decided to return to camp to rest after an unfortunate incident with a grease bottle and a series of flaming arrows, you decided to press on a bit father with Wyll, Gale and Astarion. Your familiar, a wolf you called Lupus, trotted faithfully behind you.

Wyll was keeping his focus on tracking down some horned beast in accordance with something that he was tight lipped about. But alas, what would a good traveling party be without secrets. Well, secrets that even the mind flayer parasite you all were infected with couldn't dig out. Surely, all would be revealed in time.

After all, last night Astarion's secret had. The pale rogue was actually a vampire. And you have sated his desire. You did need him strong, and he seemed to fight better, almost happy. On the other hand, you were woozy from the blood loss. Arrows that once seemed to strike true were missing their mark. A good nights rest and it will pass. That was what Astarion had said.

You all jumped over a broken bridge to where the road split three ways. To the immediate right, you saw utter carnage. Crimson stained the dirt, bodies strew about. Gale recoiled at the sight ahead while Wyll quickly identified the creatures before you.

"Gnolls. Savages who eat others. Barbaric."

Wyll muttered under his breath before readying his weapon. You nodded your agreement, as a ranger you were no stranger to the wilds.

What should have been a straightforward fight turned into madness. Gale's spells, Wyll's bladework and Astarion's sneak attacks did damage, but not enough. Especially when reinforcements arrived in the form of hyenas for the gnolls. It seemed like you blinked and your entire party was downed.

Your hands move quickly, trying to cast a Hunter's Mark spell. One target to choose as your quarry to deal extra damage to it. In your pained and bloodless state, your mind muddled and instead you cast Speak with Animals instead.

A breathless, terrified voice filled your head. Begging you to stay back, you hairless goblin!

"It's okay. We're not goblins. We're humans. Well, three humans and one high elf. We don't like the goblins either actually. We need to fid better equipment before we take on the entire camp though."

You rambled on, hoping to appease the creature towering over you with greenish-gray skin and their furry hide a light brown hue dotted with spots. The creature's dirty yellow mane stood straight up as it studied you. Finally, it spoke. Or rather you understood it. It called you friend.

"Yes, friend! If you would like to help us, I can promise you all the Goblin meat you could ever dream to taste. The camp is just over that hill."

You pointed over to the distant, shabby camp you'd previously spotted. Once a temple of a goddess, now it housed ruckus and drunk goblins. The creatures immediately took off, your own fight forgotten. Shoulders relaxing, you helped Wyll and Gale up before moving to Astarion.

A spare healing potion tipped lightly into his lips from your slightly trembling hand. His red eyes met yours as your free hand carded through his messy white curls.

"You know, darling. I think from now on we shouldn't call you wolf heart because of your furry friend. How about gnoll tamer?"

You laugh softly at his jest, hauling him to his feet. You blush from his teasing, his hand darting out to catch your wrist. His voice is a low purr only for you to hear.

"Here's my little treat with their cheeks all flushed. You will come to my bed tonight, won't you?"

Hello everyone!

I planned doing this a while ago already but the last 2 weeks have been crazy - and there are a lot (soo many... 👀) of new followers here. Which I’m thankful for btw bc after the anon mess that feels like a really positive thing to me so: welcome lovelies.

I’m Anna, I’m in my mid 30s, bi, poly, from northern Germany and I do a lot of stuff, but primarily I write (and video game). I have two kids, one serious long term partner at the moment and a writing wife. ;) (term coined and credited by kemvee) Meaning I write a lot of stuff together with my best friend @elveny​

I have an Ao3 account under the same name here and an 18+ twitter account for sharing adult art and the absolutely not safe for work screenshots I take in FFXIV over here. Oh and a blog specifically with elveny for our shared writing over at @intoourmultiverse​ 

This blog is a multi-fandom mix of all sorts of things, but a majority of posts might be about the games I currently play and the things I write. Games including but not limited to FFXIV, some Dragon Age (though I tend to stay on the very fringe of the fandom) and recently some BG3. Also I am very into old school rpgs and modern ones that emulate the feel aka PoE, Dos and Dos2, Pathfinder:Kingmaker and so on. So if you want to yell at me about those feel free to! You also might get the occasional music rant. Current themes: Soken is a musical genius, Mika’s music is what my soul sounds like and Taemin is better than all of your favs. (I’m sorry, I did not come up with that rule...) I also have some controversial opinions about modern day opera performances and most of the who is who of the last 300 years of classical music history - so if you have a really specific shared interest there hit me up I guess. (If it’s about Verdi: go away!)

Kunstpause rambles about stuff is my personal post tag, Kunstpause writes stuff is where all my writing is (surprise). Everything else should be self explanatory.

Oh, and I have several OCs and ships I love dearly and I am really determined to finally get a decent OC page done buuut that’s still under construction for now.
