What's your opinion about District 4 as Career District?

Why is there a difference between District 4 and other Career Districts (1&2) in supporting the rebellion?

From all known victors from 4, who do you think the first to support it?

I think that district 4 was a career district!

I haven’t done a re-read in a while but i think I always just assumed that the proximity (not geographical, I mean like the fact that they had close ties) of D1&2 to the Capitol probably has a lot to do with their lack of support in the rebellion.

like we know that D1&2 are viewed very favourably by the Capitol and get more food and resources from them etc so it makes sense that they'd be more loyal. however, i don't remember the same being the case for D4 (someone correct me if I'm wrong though). D4 has always felt more like D7, D10, D11 to me based on vibes alone.

In terms of supporting the rebellion, I feel like the first could have been Mags honestly. Or at least, I feel like she would have known about what was happening.

I can definitely see her being contacted by Plutarch and being asked about how likely the other D4 victors would have been to join. like,, mags was the first D4 victor and i assume she will have done a lot of the mentoring in the years to come. she would have been a great starting point for the rebellion. who else would have known/understood her districts victors personalities better than her? and also the fact that she's been around for so long would mean that she could also provide a lot of insight into victors from other districts and the workings of the games themselves etc

and yeah, i feel like mags might have needed a bit of convincing at first. we know that canonically she's half-raised finnick (and probably other D4 victors too, esp if they were careers) so i could see her initially being cautious about promises of rebellion and change. she's old enough to have been alive before the first games, (maybe not old enough to remember what life was like but she probably would have had some idea from like idk - her parents talking about it or something) and so i can see her being weary of the idea of putting the other victors in more danger on the hope of something better.

but we also know that mags is kind and selfless and caring and i think she also would have wanted her 'kids' to have a chance at living in a better world. so yeah! i think mags would have been the first D4 victor told about the rebellion and i think finnick would have come soon after.

i don't think ive read fics that specifically discuss this, but most of @finnicksannie (TheWalkingGrimes on ao3)'s thg fics are about D4 and it's victors so those fics are all a brilliant place to start! also i know @the-sun-and-the-sea also has lots of d4 centric fics on ao3!

4. favourite colour: I love all the colors. My favorite is sometimes blue and sometimes yellow and sometimes anything else.

i would say yes but i actually do kinda like jane spring. she's 100% not the best mum and i'll be the first to admit that but she's painted by the fandom as a villain who doesn't care about charlie and who is emotionally abusive to her children, which couldn't be farther from the truth. i really suggest you look up jane spring on @/finnicksannie's account or read this.

i would like this idea in any other case but jane spring is not nearly as bad of a parent as we've headcanoned mr and mrs nolastname to be, so im gonna have to turn this one down

most popular multi-chapter fic: Somthing of Our Own, or SOO, a WIP about Haymitch and Hazelle Hawthorne with peripheral Everlark, reconstruction, and other fun post-MJ things. 

favorite story you’ve written so far: gosh, Idk. I think I like SOO best because it’s my most recent writing and it’s my attempt at a mature slow-burn between two middle-aged people with shared history and a good deal of baggage but a good deal of hope, too. it’s just flat-out compelling to me and I care about it a lot which makes it more than a little painstaking to write, haha

fic you were nervous to post: my very first one, To Have and To Hold, back in 2011 when I was in the eighth grade(!). but it’s a nice, little, bittersweet AU about Haymitch’s girl, had she and his family survived.

how do you choose your titles: agonizingly. 

do you outline: for multi-chapter stories, I do. but they’re loose outlines where I leave room to let things happen ~ organically ~ in between major plot points. I tend to be very character-driven.

Best of Luck, Mockingjay - for a horror prompt, featuring Jackson toward the brutal end of the Squad 451.

bronze legacy - a prompt about Finnick & Annie’s son that sort of explores the genetic/societal onus of carrying a late parent’s legacy. there’s a happy ending though!

The Callers from the Coffin - my first multi-chapter story, where I used Markus Zusak’s narrator Death from The Book Thief to narrate parts of Haymitch’s life that either Haymitch remembers on his deathbed or Death witnessed itself. it’s not really a crossover but I labeled it as such because there are general spoilers for TBT. it was fun to write and the reception was pretty good, though much of the character backstory within is no longer my headcanon lol

cinderella man - a short and sweet multi-chapter story where I use the Cinderella fairy tale to tell Peeta’s side of the Everlark story (or one interpretation of it, anyway).

eat your heart out - about Titus, the cannibal tribute.

Gym Class - an Everlark oneshot where Katniss accidentally (but also not) hits Peeta in the face with a dodgeball, or the origin story of Peeta’s ‘not a piece in their games’ philosophy.

let the memories be good for those who stay - my one (1) story for another fandom. it’s an AU of The Book Thief where the main character Liesel dies and her love interest Rudy lives instead. I’ve gotten many an upset comment about it, which I accept warmly. :)

A New Way to Breathe - a prompt (for shesasurvivor actually!) about Johanna and Haymitch after the war, though in this story the war doesn’t end... well... for some beloved characters. imo, this fic is best read listening to “Alone Together” by Fallout Boy on repeat.

so this is your maverick - this AU where Thresh and Rue win can be considered finished but I’d love to come back to it and do a second, final part from Rue’s perspective. only trouble is, I’ve read several great fics with this same AU that cover them going through the rebellion together and so I don’t really know what I have to add to it. we’ll see (as if it hasn’t been 8 years lmao)

Unpopular opinion: Katniss is directly descended from Maude Ivory, not Lucy Gray.

Omg I can’t agree any harder! This is totally my personal headcanon! There’s like zero hard evidence one way or another but Katniss being the granddaughter of Maude fits. There’s nothing to contradict it?

And I know you didn’t ask for this long of an explanation but imma climb up on the soapbox real quick and say, that in all my fics and AUs, I allude somewhat to Katniss being Maude Ivory’s descendant. If Maude Ivory was nine during the 10th Hunger Games, then she would be old enough to have a child anywhere from the 19th Hunger Games (when she’d be about 18) and on. And so if she had a kid at like 27ish it could easily be Katniss’ father.

Anyways. Irrelevant but I love this concept. I don’t think there’s anyway Katniss is descended from Lucy Gray, considering she apparently never returned to Twelve and it’s too complicated to try and imagine a situation where she had a baby and somehow that baby made its way back to Twelve to have another baby who had Katniss who has zero knowledge of any of these events so nah. If she’s descended from anyone, it’s not Lucy Gray 😅🤣. I gave myself a headache typing that out.

LISTEN. when I tell you these fics changed me im not joking at all. in fact, gravity is the fic that got me into writing for thg so i am very grateful to it! i also really love sweet girl and whispers of light, and everything in long story short. basically, you should read everything that samantha writes bc she is the absolute sweetest and also an incredible, incredible writer! everlark centric

next is anything by @finnicksannie (thewalkinggrimes on AO3). you best believe that control is easily life changing one of the best works i have ever read for this fandom and maybe just in general . truly, like it is jaw dropping, stunning, amazing. i have nothing bad to say about it whatsoever. tales of district four is also an absolute treasure trove, so i really recommend that if you're looking for something finnick and annie centric! it was so good that I read it all in a day and then proceeded to talk to my friends about it for the next week. that's how good it was. odesta centric

After watching Heathers I can finally see the similarities it has with Solitaire, but that also means that Michael would be the equivalent of J.D. and I really don't like that ._.

(P.S. 2 Yes I've seen the art of Tori and Michael dressed as Veronica and J.D. for Halloween but I still don't like it 100%)
