post purge trooper / rebels era night makes me…so soft. im not saying this is the most peaceful point of his life, but it is absolutely the most peaceful point in his life and he deserves it.
night went a long time living on his own along the outskirts of a quiet seaside village on a small rainy planet. he maintained their rundown lighthouse comm tower and was their first defense against any possible raiders. he mostly kept to himself and only occasionally went into town for supplies and groceries. for a while, that’s all the locals ever saw him come around for. they just called him “the lightkeeper”.
but of course, its a small town, so they were always curious about newcomers. besides, ever since he moved into the lighthouse, fewer ships went missing and solo raiders who thought they could make an easy job were swiftly taken care of. sometimes the townsfolk would ask him to fix their machinery or help transport merchandise. in return, they started dropping by the lighthouse to share with him their catch of the day or crops from harvests.
the town’s willingness to welcome him into their space took night aback for some time, but as years passed, he blended in nicely. even the children eventually flocked to him whenever he visited, asking him to tell them more spooky stories or tales of heroes with swords of light.
though he still had a hard time showing it, night loved nothing more than to be with the people he protected. “this isn’t the easiest place to live,” they’d say, “the winters are harsh and the rain always turns to ice. that’s why we’ve got to help each other out. we don’t care who you were or what you did. all that matters to us is who you choose to be today.”
The 82nd find themselves responding to a vague distress signal from deep in the wastelands of Drasyr. Separatist occupation and experimentation with biological weapons has rendered much of the planet bare and uninhabitable. In an attempt to recover intel and survivors, will they discover a way to possibly reverse the damage that’s been done?
thinking abt night dual wielding false “darksabers” 😳 like what if these were imbued with sith magic, and like a parasite, they slowly possesses the wielder if used long enough...the shorter saber functions as a dagger, with the other as the primary sword.
fun fact, long exposure to the sabers triggers the host to not only undergo a unique kind of rapid “decomposition” but the inky tar their bodies turn into develop force neutralizing properties. attacks like force grab, choke, or lightning are relatively useless. these properties will fade if the host is kept away from the sabers. if an opponent attempts to dismember the host with a lightsaber, the lost limbs can regrow or reattach. the kyber crystals of lightsabers that come into constant direct contact with the tar become prone to “infection”, which would eat at the crystal itself. infected crystals eventually become unable to be ignited.
what other little information exists of these sabers have largely been lost to time. palpatine once expressed some interest in them and wanted to see what they were capable of, but of course he wouldn't test them on himself. so what better candidate to do so under the guise of “relocating an asset to a secure location” than commander night- a reclusive and disposable clone who already operated more or less out of the public eye. however, when even palpatine himself was unable to control the sabers after they’d attached themselves to night, he decided to lock them away in the ruins of a sith temple. if he couldnt have them, no one could.
centuries later, night isn’t much more than a mindless vessel of sith goop and a myth. it’s in the sabers’ prideful nature to seek out challengers, and so they lie dormant until a new, fresh and living host enters the temple. stormtroopers or even scavengers who make the mistake of setting foot into the temple simply never come back out.
