Easy Pace 7 miles Complete 🏃🏼♀️
I did not set out early like I’d planned, but at 1030 ish instead. It was hot. I got calf cramps. I ran the first half at a decent pace but then had to walk a bit as I took a gel and fiddled with my phone/podcast settings.
It just went downhill from there. Each mile I had to walk a bit. I could tell I wasn’t hydrated enough for the amount of sweat I was losing. So I finished the miles with a run/walk rotation. Shockingly though, I still finished this run 4 minutes faster than last weekend.
Looking at my pace in the first half, I may have gone out a bit too quick and was unable to hold that, and my legs quit on me. I think a good strategy on race day will be to try and hold a consistent 1230 ish pace from the start and see how I feel at halfway.
