i really should be working but for real the fascination i have with Felix as a character is so great because i genuinely think creating characters with that level of complexity is really hard and I think people thought Chloe would be more like that but the writers had more of a chance to flesh Felix out in a way that makes him fun to support and root for.
cause the thing is at his core he, like Adrien, just wants to be free. Adrien from the very start has been trying to break free from his bonds but is held back by his love for his dad and a sense of naivety (that isn't bad persay but he gives people the benefit of the doubt a lot, which is great in cases for like Mari but not so great when it comes to his dad)
But Felix, even though we haven't seen much of his background we can kinda infer it's the same ultimate goal. That sense of peace and contentedness that can only be achieved through freedom. I'm a fan of both takes where Felix's dad was controlling and when he passed that's when he got his freedom and also the one I had for a while where he has always been free and in control of his amok (though I think the former is the truth given Winny's tweets)
The point is that he is so very human in his desires but so flawed that it cause him to fall to the evil side. Like Anakin I guess (disclaimer: i have watched the prequels once when drunk in college so do not quote me on what I am about to say) where he sees injustice and instead of working with others to fix it he does what he can to save who matters most to him.
(side note: I am starting to wonder if the two rings are for Emilie and Adrien, because that would explain the strangeness of someone falling for that Insult-to-Garbage of a man and also why Felix stared up so fondly at that painting of her. He thinks senti's are separate from humans, and that is why he feels more affection for his kin than for the rest of humanity)
anyway im not sure what i originally set out to do here but i really hope that Felix continues to evolve into this complex character with a big role in the story. Ideally, I want him and Adrien to really fight it out but eventually come to an understanding where they learn it's possible to love both themselves and the world, and that Felix shows Adrien how to love himself as a senti and Adrien shows Felix the humans aren't as bad as they thought.
and the thing is even if this doesn't happen i'm so impressed by how they handled felix's character and made his motivations so clear that whatever happens next i trust the writers to continue making him just as interesting and fun to watch
