i love bloodweave because it really is just the two most pathetic men in the world. a malewife and a trophy husband. both simultaneously the definition of sex appeal and sopping wet losers with no game. they want to rip each other apart and it's not even sexually. neither of them know how to do taxes. i want to study them under a microscope.

I just love how irredeemably terrible Astarion is as a person, it's my favorite thing about him. I love Gale who is so easily corruptible seeing the darkness in Astarion no matter how his route proceeds, yet loving him all the same, flaws and all. I love him feeling guilty for how terribly they mesh together at times, how distant Astarion gets, but being the only one to stay by his side despite it all.

I love Astarion telling Gale that he should leave him, but in the same breath telling him that he'll kill them both if he tries. I love Gale finding that so, so romantic, even with the pit in his stomach. Somehow, they're worse without each other than with each other. A single mortal's life, or more, or seven thousand, will never be worth more than the one Gale has placed upon a pedestal. Gale is the only one capable of making his lover feel entirely adored, even if Astarion so often fails to do the same.

I can't imagine a pairing that represents two characters that love each other deeply, irrevocably, choices or circumstances be damned. They will always get each other in ways only a mirror of themselves can understand, so much so that it is infuriating.

They will die for each other readily. They will kill each other. They will kill for each other. Gale will write them a beautiful, almost Hannibal-esque suicide note before they decide to go out with a bang, and their souls will weave together as they stare upon their beautiful corpses. That is Bloodweave to me.

Going back to Skyrim I've realized I'm not an Astarion to Gale Dekarios romance Pipeline person. I'm a Lucien Flavius to Gale Dekarios Pipeline person.

Hubristic mages who are different only in that Gale is older and more experienced than Lucien. They're both bookish nerds with a special interest in a culture that disappeared off the face of the planet due to hubris and want to uncover the secrets of those civilizations.

Tell me I'm wrong. TELL ME I'M WRONG.

genuinely love that in my mind Gale has become the defacto person people go to for information on things because now my brain will not let go of a scenario like Astarion, appearing from the ceiling like he's doing a spiderman cosplay: Gale- Gale: -immediately dropping everything he's holding and shrieking at the top of his lungs- Astarion: Stop screaming it's just me. Gale: How did you get in here, and more importantly; what do you want?! Astarion: I broke in, and whatever information you have on dhampirs.

thinkin about if act 3 mystra romantically pursues gale again when she realizes his ambition threatens her. when she remembers the easiest way to have control over him.

thinkin about gale’s having to choose between Mystra and the new paramour he’s met on the road. the choice he’d like to think he’d make—and then the choice he actually would.

Look, I love Gale for his enthusiastic info dumping, his charming puns, his verbosity, his dorky rizz, that sexy voice, his boner inducing action lines, his loyalty, his absolute passion; I could go on but you get the idea.

His looks do help and I'd still find him hot any which way.

That said, not too crazy about beardless Gale. Don't get me wrong, I definitely still would hit that with the force of a thousand suns. But I prefer the beard. And the long hair for that matter.
