#flertom is the straight one of chilchuck's daughters

"You did all that..."

"For free?!" All three Chils girls exclaimed at once. Staring at their father in disbelief as they leaned forward against the table.

Chilchuck choked on his drink, hitting his chest as he looked around the large castle dining table. All his former party members sat in their respective seats, each looking nice and well-mannered for once. His daughters sat in chairs to the right of him, all looking extra beautiful by all standards. His wife sat on the other side, looking equally elegant, and now as surprised as their daughters.

"We-well.. it wasn't really for free per se. They paid me before to help them get to the red dragon and they didn't defeat it the first time. So- technically I was still under contract since they needed to get back to the dragon." The burning in his cheeks traveled to his ears as the eyes of the whole room bore into him.

"You're not one for technicalities." His wife hummed softly, her fingers to her lips.

"Honestly, I was surprised as well. I thought he would take his money and go home." Laios spoke up. "But I'm glad he didn't, we would've never saved my sister without him."

The newly crowned king turned to his sister who sat next to him, smiling at her.

Chilchuck grumbled something to himself, itching his nose as his eyes darted around, trying to avoid all the big doe eyes of his daughters.

"I must admit it surprised me as well. Me and Mr. Chilchuck were never that close, despite working together for so long. We never really spoke." Falin spoke in her usual soft manner, adding to what her brother had said.

Chilchuck scoffed, "It wouldn't have mattered how close we were. I couldn't just let a kid like you rot away in some dragon's stomach." He grumbled.

"Ahah!" Marcille suddenly shouted, pointing straight at him. Startling most of the halfling family.

"I knew it! It wasn't for obligation! You came with us because you cared for Falin's safety! I knew it I knew it!" She yelled triumphantly, with a proud smile.

Regret immediately overtook Chilchuck as he simmered with embarrassment. Regretting ever opening his mouth he cursed himself, covering his ears and putting his head down. Trying to ignore the squealing from both Flertom and Marcille now.

"Aw, Dad's a hero! I told you, Mom! I told you he doesn't only care about money!" Flertom squealed, standing from her seat and wrapping her arms tightly around her father's shoulders.

Puckpatti giggled as she stood up as well. Throwing herself around his arm. His wife laughed softly as she placed a hand on his shoulder as Meijack a hand on his arm. All the while he covered his face with both hands, groaning and cursing incoherently behind them trying to keep himself from toppling over.

Chilchuck turns one way and sees Otta hanging off of Meijack (who isn't objecting?? his only daughter who doesn't cause him dating grief??) then spins around and sees Flertom and Puckpatti who he FINALLY pulled away from Liaos (unmarried KING), working their hardest to woo Senshi (bachelor DWARF that's extra hunky) (extra if you ship Senshi and Chilchuck so now he has spun to see his DAUGHTERS trying to flirt with HIS hunk of dwarf.)

Dungeon Meshi is made so we can put Chilchuck through hell situations

Please that would be hilarious. And it would catch him from left field too, cause the poor guy's probably been worrying about the losers in his party dating his daughters and the possibility of that mixture of work/life balance being erased permanently.

Then Meijack dates a criminal and all of that goes straight out the window lmao.

More modern university au thoughts

Laios (26)

- Masters in Wildlife Biology

- was inspired by Steve Irwin growing up, attempted the accent and everything (he got better at it but it's still awful)

- works part-time at the zoo; loves being with the wolves and plays with them like dogs

- joined the military straight out of high school to get out of his parent's house but left after basic training

- absolutely has a fursona (it's a gray wolf with eagle wings (✨️majestic✨️))

Kabru (22)

- PhD in Forensic Psychology

- has wanted to become an FBI profiler since his foster mother (Milsiril) used to be an FBI agent investigating terrorism before early retirement (he thought she was so cool if overbearing and over protective)

- working on his dissertation (how certain paraphilias are linked to violence and aggression towards women)

- lost his parents in a domestic terrorist attack (one Milsiril was investigating)

- can't cook to save his life and is generally messy (in multiple ways lol)

Falin (23)

- Masters in Herpetology (but likes to dabble in ornithology)

- also working on conservation efforts and educating the public of endangered species (she met Marcille while volunteering at one of these while in high school)

- nearsighted but is always misplacing her glasses so is always squinting (at some point Marcille gets her a glasses chain)

- also works at the zoo with Laios but mostly in the reptile house

- volunteers during her spare time with Marcille still

Marcille (24)

- PhD in Biomedical Engineering

- working on her dissertation (development of novel biomaterials for tissue engineering)

- lost her father at an early age due to organ failure

- has an interest in the occult

- a low key pyro

Izutsumi (17)

- senior in high school

- works part-time at Senshi's to take orders (she's not allowed to do anything else)

- Senshi kinda adopted her

- Shuro's father took her in, but she was always running away

-Senshi caught her digging through the dumpster behind Chilchuk's pub and fed and talked to her

Chilchuck (45)

- runs a pub near the university

- has trivia nights every week and workshops once a month on labor laws and employee rights

- divorced but on good terms with his ex-wife (they meet up for some gossip)

- his 3 daughters (twins meijack and flertom (25) and puckpatty (22)) live in the area and like to swing by

- multilingual (chats up some of the foreign exchange students)

Senshi (44)

- owns a food truck that likes to park at the lot across from Chilchuck's bar

- at first chilchuk thinks he has a rival but now regular drinking buddies

- likes to have the group stop by to try his more exotic dishes (Laios especially enjoys them)

- used to travel the world and eat whatever was available
