Marzanna / Śmiertka Marzanna / Śmiertka is a straw - dummy that symbolizes winter and death. Polish kids drown it in a river. Or they burn it, and then toss it into water. This tradition happens on the first day of spring. Polish winter is very dark, long and depressing, so no wonder this custom is so enthusiastic. A very pagan holiday which I admired as a kid. --- An illustration from "Góralskie Czary", Leksykon Magii Podtatrza i Beskidów Zachodnich" by Katarzyna Ceklarz i Urszula Janicka-Krzywda. published by @tatrzanskiparknarodowy -

I offer you a new interactive! Dress up OC in your national costume. Those who draw - draw, those who write - tell.
I'll start. I decided to dress Beulah von Valancius in Belarusian folk clothes - "stroy". (she looks so weird without all those warhammer augmentations and aquilas xD)
Tumblr media
This type of clothing was common in the late 19th - early 20th centuries and each region had its own differences. I decided to take the average version of the western part of Belarus.
The outfit consists of a "kashulya" shirt decorated with ornament embroidery , a "garset" vest also with embroidery and bright metal buttons, and an apron also with embroidery and skirt "andarak" made of homespun fabric. A scarf "khustka" was tied on the head. The neck was decorated with beads and a beaded decoration "garlyachka"
I also decided to draw a moment of the ritual from "Kupallya" - the summer solstice holiday. According to tradition, girls told fortunes by launching wreaths down the river. Tagging @brloche @cawyden-gaming @laurelindis @hyenamurena @vitanithepure @gildhartt @natchart @undeadfrog @kshert @shadrell @nagarashi @andrigyn2 @pycnolite @pheedraws @chunkymonkey @fenlirias and everyone who wants to join in!

Tongues & Teeth - The Crane Wives
soo...anyone here heard or the life series/hermitcraft :)
For real tho this song and the crane wives in general are amazing i love their songs, it gives off the vibe of "dancing with someone dramatically in the forest while wearing a long dress" and its SUCH a vibe i adore
