The invention/inventors of Black Forest Cake are definitely disputed. Some people think it was named after a specialty liquor from the Black Forest region, others claim it was inspired by by the traditional women’s costume…. Guess how that inspired me? This design is very much derived from the folk costume of the Black Forest region, famous for its red Pom-poms called Bollenhut. The red pompoms = the red cherries essential to Black Forest cake. I mean the liquor is essential too but this is a fashion/character design challenge, c’mon. The Bollenhut has been worn since 1750 with unmarried women wearing red pompoms and married women wearing black Pompoms.

Winter slav girl! The folk costume (Czech region of Slovácko)is from my father’s village, and even though I’ve never lived there, I always felt quite a strong connection to that place
Of course, the final dog has to be our dog Rituška!🦴
She is a mix and wears whatever I’m usually wearing when I take her for a walk.
I would like to thank again to everyone who bought some of the dogs. In the end, we managed to gather about 930USD which I donated yesterday to these three organizations (to help wild animals, dogs, and humans) - @hajnyzmakova @packaproutulkace @charita_cesko
THANK YOU SO MUCH! 💖
And in case someone still wants to adopt a dog, these are left -
Afghan Hound, Australian Cattle Dog, Xoloitzcuintle, Husky, Brabançon, Brittany, Pekingese, and Chihuahua 🐕🐩
This illustration is based on Nausicaä. I think she’s the strongest and bravest Ghibli character. Years ago, when I read the manga, I wanted to become like her. She’s kind, brave, and independent; she’s an idea that has transcended this world. But now I realize she’s also the loneliest Ghibli character.
She’s also the character who loses the most: her father, her village, the Ohmu, Lord Yupa, Teto, and her adoptive child, the Giant God Warrior. And she has to put aside all her sorrow and move on because the whole world relies on her. ❤️🩹 The weight she carries on her shoulders is way too heavy. I hope she finds happiness.🥺
Redraw of an old idea I had, the gaang if they were Bulgarian/South Slavic.
Aang is inspired by shepherd's clothing mostly as well as some North- and Central- West Bulgarian clothing. Same for Sokka, but mostly CW (from the Shop region). Katara is a mix of Rhodope mountain and again CW styles. The butterflies are just so they don't stare in empty space lol
Folktale week!!
Rebels - with witches !!!
Costume - which is actually based on my village’s folk clothing. Sadly there weren’t much resources about it.
That was all for me this year. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to properly plan ahead :’)
