ok ok but imagine a fic where toey goes to phum instead of peem and the gang for help in wooing Q. Oh my god that would be such a shitshow. Those two would either be too competent because Phum has the power of shameless flirting and Toey has destiny on his side or they would be too lost to realize what they're doing.

But just -- Phum trying to confront Q so he can see what makes that man tick for scheming reasons and facing The stare and being as intimidated and awkward as he always is when Q squares his shoulders at him. I NEED THAT.

Then he goes to Toey and he's like "I'm kind of scared of him-"

And Q going to Peem and casually saying "Why is your crush tailing after me like a scared puppy?"

Peem, blinking at both the word crush and tailing after Q like a lost puppy, "He's what-"

also uh while i'm writing something in this era of s2. are we ever going to talk about that time at the very end of the season that tucker literally murdered a bunch of defenseless children that were the last of what remained of ianite at mianite's behest and the only reason that any survived was because jordan and martha agreed on something for once in their goddamn lives and worked together to hide one where tucker couldn't find it? because im gonna be real right now: what the fuck was that. What the actual fuck. It didn't even lead to anything. Ianite wasn't even revived afterwards so narratively it was all for nothing anyways. Genuinely, what the fuck man.

I always see posts saying “Here’s who Jimmy could team with next time so he can actually survive and why” or “Here’s who we can team (X) player with to nerf them”

But like. What if instead of making things balanced or preventing Jimmy from dying, Jimmy instead teamed with people who are also incredibly death prone. 

Like give me a team of Jimmy, Skizz, and Scar. (Scar does usually last a while, but he has the reputation) Like, hell, let’s throw Joel in their too. He dies and does dumb reckless stuff all the time! And we know from Limited Life that putting him with Jimmy makes them both die 10x faster. 

“I want Jimmy to survive” Yeah, but clearly teaming him with competent people doesn’t work. Instead let’s see how fast an alliance can start a fight with someone else and than die in the DUMBEST WAY POSSIBLE. Will Jimmy have the shortest series ever? Or will somehow all the death prone people cancel each other out and survive until the end?

brief hater moment i did not like the limited life game mechanics at all. i think i've actually gotten progressively one step less interested with every life series game mechanics shift after 3l but you know what this time i'm intrigued

so i'm writing a DCU fan fiction, and (as I often do) I got so stuck in my own head about writing the DCU characters "accurately" that I ran myself straight into a creative brick wall. To combat this, I started reading the comics of the characters I'm using and oh my god...

I've made a lot of jokes that DC "writes fan fiction of their fan fiction"—like, it shouldn't be called The Detective Comics Universe. It should be called the Detective Comics Alternative Universes. But I had forgotten how truly inconsistent and difficult to track some of these stories and arcs are. Don't get me wrong—I absolutely love DC. I'm a die-hard DC fan, always have been and always will be.

BUT OH MY GOD

I SWEAR

I'm convinced the writers have like, a singular piece of scratch paper and they're essentially playing a game of narrative telephone between comic issues. It's absolute whiplash sometimes. I got through a major arc and am still not entirely sure what I just read.

And I feel much better about writing these characters.
