I believe Mario initiates the forehead touch during the reunion hug (and any forehead touches before and after), because he refuses to believe his brother is right in front of him until he has physical proof.

He won't believe anything until he's certain Luigi is right there in front of him. Close to him. Until he can see his eyes and hear his breathing.

I absolutely just had to commission a pic of those two, because there really is just not enough content for them! Which is sad, I think, given I find the ship quite wholesome. Or rather I see a big potential for some wholesomeness there.

I have by now written quite a bit for them, especially this year so far. You can find my fics for them in this collection.

The ones I am very proud of are Five Games of Chess (the getting-together fic) and A Gilded Cage and Clipped Wings (a fic dealing with Hector's trauma from everything that has happened to him in the series).
