Spirit thinks he and Marie are cut of the same cloth, not that you'd know it at a glance. They're both rather fixated on romantic relationships, but while Marie unjustly blames herself for their failures, Spirit tries desperately to avoid the blame that he knows is his own. They both seem dependent on other people to feel alive. So when Marie finds him trying to drown his divorce sorrows in a bottle and offers to listen, he takes her up on the offer. Maybe if anyone can understand his poor decisions and indiscretions, it's Marie.

But what would Sollux absorb? My first thought is maybe it would be Eridan's impressive vocab. Would Sollux start using words like ostensive and indomitable, without batting an eye?

usually it's like... "what kind of character have I not done yet" or "what role needs to be filled in this story" or "what would this characters kid look like" those are all my most common starting points lmao and then it's like "how can I make them as weird as I possibly can" and I try to give them pretty distinct styles and mannerisms when I can. often my characters are inspired by real people

19. Have You Ever Made A Self Insert

OH MY GOD..... *HAVE I* one of my first ocs was a gravity falls self insert 😭 I was like 11 and she basically just hated Pacifica and loved Dipper and she had super awesome magical powers 🤦‍♂️ pretty much every fandom I'm in I'll at least make a sona of, especially if there's a unique species (like for SU it's gems, for Gravity Falls it's dream demons, for fnaf it's animatronics, you get the picture) but even if I don't end up fleshing them out I do make a Lot of self inserts 😭 some are more obvious than others

I'm sorry. I hate to say this but it really looks like the new LITG writers hate LGBT women and women in general. This season is a pain to get through if you're on a loyal Claudia route. Bea stans have it worse since their gf was written to be Liam's babysitter.  It's exhausting. Season 1 wasn't all that progressive but at least gay people could still be involved in the ex drama. Season 8 just doesn't feel good if you're not romancing the guys. Gay women can't enjoy the drama with their LIs. Season 7 was so much better. I don't know why they took fifty steps back. I think the hate that Bonnie received has something to do with that. Instead of paying their staff to code a bi route that's separate from the exclusive fxf route, they made it impossible to have a relationship with a woman. You can still have a female lover and wind up with her if you haven't jumped ship by the final recoupling but you can no longer have a fxf romance. There were so many people begging them for a Hazel route. For some reason we can end up with Liam but we can't end up with Hazel or any of MC's female rivals. Liam's threesome was the writers rubbing salt into the wound. The moral of the story is that you can have a redemption arc if you undermine women but you can't have a redemption arc if you're a woman.

I will wholeheartedly agree with the fact that the female characters in the newer seasons (which I'm considering S5-8) are not written very positively. If they're not an LI, they're probably an antagonist to MC, and there's no in between. There's no redemption or character development, which, the latter has been a problem for most if not all the characters regardless of gender, but because they tend to make all the male characters LI's, those guys are always being presented more positively so tend to not need any development.

The routes I feel like have always not been great. I'm not the most well versed in all the LITG routes, but I can't really think of an exclusive fxf route aside from S3 (which I almost don't want to count because the storylines are all just "have fun with your LI the whole show") and S4 and that may be just because you get to couple up with a female character early on. So I don't really think this is a product of recent writers.

And that might be just down to the premise of Love Island being very heteronormative, but there have been some LGBT couples in the actual show even if just briefly, and the show seems to be able to adapt alright without breaking the format entirely. (And like,,, it's a fictional game with fictional characters, the writers can bend the rules to their will I think). Even in the game, S3 they just adjust by having two of the male characters couple up or in S1 having a different character introduced depending on if MC is with Talia or one of the guys. So there's definitely ways to make the routes work, albeit with more coding/branching needed, but I think the players would enjoy the effort.

Personally, I did think it was weird when Claudia sorta just disappeared after Casa and then the drama was just about the boys. But Claudia has some fun characterization and she has quite a few scenes with MC up until then, so I wouldn't necessarily say the romance is dead on that front, especially compared to S6, barely getting any time with the three interchangeable female LIs. (I haven't played S7 all the way through so I'm not sure what the characters there are like). I would love a rivals to lovers storyline with a female LI (which I guess they did with Gabi but mehh S5 is a mess), but Hazel's position in the story is absolutely just as a rival in case you wanted to go for Hari I think. And this just reiterates the fact that the non-LI women in the most recent seasons are competition.

In conclusion: yeah I fucking wish they wrote the women better too

Whumpers, what are your earliest memories?

Mine is from when I was about two or three. I was in a stroller, at my cousin’s Irish dancing recital. After the recital, my aunts were talking down to me in the stroller, and to each other. I was experiencing extreme anxiety because I couldn’t understand what they were saying, when I felt I should have been able to communicate with them like they were communicating with each other. I was also very tired and dazed. I did not cry though… I probably looked normal on the outside.

I also remember when I was about four or five, I went to the beach with my dad and one of his friends. I somehow found my way onto the dock, planted my little rear end on a jet ski, untethered it from the dock, and started floating into the sunset. There was an old lady lounging in a donut inflatable out some way; she said something to me, but I couldn’t understand what she said, despite trying really hard. I’m assuming it was something along the lines of “Oh my god get off that jet ski you’re going to fucking DIE, kid,” but again… couldn’t understand a word of what she said, and got frustrated because she was speaking English (without an accent) and I should know how to understand adults speaking English to me.

At this point, my dad is yelling at me from across the water, and a young lifeguard drags the jet ski back. On land, my dad lectured at me very harshly as he led me back to the car. I didn’t know I had done anything wrong, and was very confused. At some point this guy starts quoting the Bible at me, and the only thing I could pick out were the words (spoken very emphatically), “Your days are numbered.”

“My days are numbered?” cue a vivid mental image of a calendar, with dates listed for every day of the week, “What does that mean?” Later on I figured out this was the Bible’s way of referencing death at God’s hand which just made me even more confused as to what I did, until at age thirteen, I figured out, “Oh a baby who can’t swim floating on a jet ski is terrifying, actually.”

Make sure the arrow of the filter is pointing down and click on the “all furniture” tab

you might have “craftable only” on filter and maybe that’s why it’s not showing up if you don’t have the materials, otherwise im not sure why it’s not showing up.

So maybe putting “all” or have all the filters on “all” and dorm on “diasomnia” might help.

6. what's something good that's come out of being disabled?

A sense of identity & a strong interest in the disability community. I've learned so much about the way people with all kinds of disabilities live, because I gained an interest in disability studies when it became my reality. I worked at a school for the blind because of this interest while I still had more physical strength (btw, I have no visual impairment myself that isn't fixed with my glasses) and it was one of the best times of my life.

15. what does disability pride mean to you?

Disability pride means having a strong sense of identity as a disabled person and seeing that as a good thing. Not your disability or symptoms necessarily, but your identity. This unique experience that belongs to you and a bunch of other people, but not most of the population. It's really cool and I'm glad a lot of us can embrace it.

How would your TES characters fare as characters in a fighting game?

tanis is by far the fightiest and the best choice for competitive players

coradri would be relatively underpowered but have INSANE combo moves

anaht outsources all her fighting to undead thralls in my story but she's got the edge. rapid fire ranged attacks that give her opponent little time to recover

crabigail would make it on the cover art and be a fan favorite because Buff Lady Big Hammer but probably not the most effective especially if you're a button masher like me. She's not fast and her fighting style leaves her wide open a lot.

seadnha's not a fighter but she's scrappy. maybe has a special move involving explosives >:)

🎨 - What's their favorite color?

Val's favorite color is red, hence why she's had her hair dyed for so long.

👗 - How comfortable would they be wearing a skirt or dress?

Extremely uncomfortable. She hates skirts and dresses and will do anything to avoid wearing them. Not only does she think they're impractical (since she's always dressed for merc work) but she also feels exposed in them. The only way she might wear one is to an event to torture Johnny.

🌳 - What's their extended family like?

To Val's knowledge, she doesn't have any blood relatives that are still alive/she knows. So to her, family isn't blood. Instead, she considers Mama Welles, Jackie (😭), Misty, and Vik her family. Later on, it grows to include Johnny (ofc), Panam, and Kerry. (I'm still trying to decide if I want her sister to actually be alive after all her time missing or not).

🎲/💀 - How do they feel about horror movies?

They don't scare her. Real life is much scarier to her than anything paranormal. She does enjoy watching them, though, just to make fun of the characters and the dumb decisions they make.
