It’s amazing how quickly plans change in #fostercare. A #fostermama has to be completely flexible to put the needs of a child first, but others in a case seem to only look at what’s convenient. Every placement change a child experiences causes anxiety when trauma has already caused instability. The removal itself is trauma. Our Adoption Story Rob and I met though a sports social club he had organized, Rob approached me and made me feel comfortable right away, it was the first time I ever went to this type of event, which was a social party for baseball fans. After getting to know each other, we found many common interests such as being being sports fans, having similar musical tastes, and being involved in community betterment. We started dating and after a couple of years, Rob proposed to me on Valentine's Day when he surprised me by placing the engagement ring in the flower arrangement he had brought for me. We soon after got married outdoors under a gazebo in #statenisland at a beautiful country club on a gorgeous summer afternoon. A few years later we brought our house in #statenislandny which is located near a beach community. Rob and I have traveled to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Florida, South Carolina, Washington, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Niagara Falls, Hamptons, Boston, and our home away from home Atlantic City which we usually try to go a couple of times a year, while we are not big time gamblers, we enjoy the beach, boardwalk and the fun atmosphere it always provides. We live in a lovely home in quiet neighborhood, we try to keep our home clean and in good shape, right now, what is missing from our lives is a beautiful young life to raise with strong family values Rob and I were given from our parents. We now begins our adoption journey with hope someday of finding our child. 10 months later we are still looking for the missing #puzzlepiece. We may come into parenthood with all sorts of expectations. ⁣ “𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵...” ⁣ However, if you are 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮, you don’t know their history. You don’t know how that behavior was necessary to simply survive. ⁣ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 and can prevent emotional growth. A child may be a certain age chronologically, but emotionally be much younger. ⁣ A child having a meltdown, in that moment, is a toddler emotionally.
