The sun sees ruins of old that have long been forgotten.
The decay of the land that lays desolate and rotten.
Beauty can be seen from the sheen of her rays.
No eyes lie praise amongst the living these days.
For those of haste with wasteful tongues, bicker bitter words of envy.
Blot out their eyes for those that despise my fall and my rise for tears shed their eyes.
For as I was in your beginning,
I shall to be in your end.
From the dust of the earth, you were birthed.
To the dust return all the accursed of no worth.
The faithful live for eternity.
While the faithless perish eternally.
My light can bring joy, and my light can bring pain.
How you decide to walk in life will be judged by my flame.
Prince Harbinger.

I am finally going to be able to play AC: New Horizons! When it’s delivered. BUT in the meantime
I’m using a second, used copy of ACNL to make a new town (because I’m not deleting Fogwell ever) and I like to roleplay a little...
In Fogwell, Pashmina kept dropping hints that she used to like, be part of a gang or something, lol? Or that’s how I read it. So this new mayor, who has a mullet, is a fugitive from that gang/Pashmina and ran away to a dead quiet little town, and he just wanted a cover? But now he’s fuckin mayor.
Tumblr media
The town’s name is Foxcroft, and the mayor is Kit, which I only learned is the term for a baby fox after the fact, and of course the one day I boot this game up, Redd just happens to be in town...
Tom Nook is side-eyeing this guy I know it

Three Wise Teachers
For my Three Wise Teachers project, I reached out to three of my all-time favorite teachers. Mrs. Diane Robinson (my 6th grade ELA teacher), Mrs. Amy Fagan-Cannon (my 7th grade ELA teacher), and Mr. Peter Hartel (my Latin teacher through all four years of high school).
I first reached out to Mrs. Robinson on Facebook. We have been Facebook friends for several years now and we have maintained a close relationship since I had her as my homeroom and ELA teacher in middle school. She was one of me and my friends’ favorite teacher since we had her in our 6th-grade year, and the teacher who really pushed all of her students to read, read, and read some more. She very recently retired after 30 years of teaching 5th-6th grade English Language Arts. She was super happy to hear from me even though I see her often and she appreciated my message to her. She emailed me this link to an article that explains how to go about instruction for struggling readers.
After reaching out to Mrs. Robinson, I contacted Mrs. Fagan-Cannon (whose students affectionately refer to her as Mrs. FC because Fagan-Cannon is just too long and complicated for 7th graders to say) via her Instagram account. Since I had her in the 7th grade, we have kept in touch because I teach her young daughter riding lessons at the horse farm I work at. Like Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. FC was my homeroom and ELA teacher. I adored her as her student and I still look up to her now, even though she’s made the switch to running a daycare out of her home since having three young children. When I messaged her asking for resources, I could tell she was super appreciative. After she sent me links, she wrote,
“You will be amazing. And you do not have to have all the answers or everything figured out. I certainly didn’t when I was starting and currently DO NOT in my new adventure [as an early childhood daycare teacher]. You will always learn and grow. That is the beauty of being a teacher. Stay fluid. I’m always happy to help!”
The links include ReadWriteThink.org, EnglishCompanion.ning.com, and ASCD.org.
Finally, I reached out to Mr. Hartel who is hands-down my most favorite teacher from my high school experience. He just retired this past spring after 30 years of teaching Latin and the Classics. I am friends with him on Facebook but really wanted to email him because I know he’s not that Facebook-savvy and the kind of old-school guy who would appreciate an email from a former student. However, I wasn’t sure if his Foxcroft Academy email was still in use, so I went ahead and messaged him on Facebook. He replied back almost immediately and asked if it was alright if his resources pertained to the teachings of Latin and the Classics. I said sure, and he asked if he could get back to me a little bit later this week. He just sent me a picture of a piece of notebook paper with a list of resources pertaining to curriculum/instruction/assessment of Latin and the Classics. Most resources are print sources that I recognize from my years as a Latin student, but some I found online as well so that I can share with the class.

Congratulations, Lex! I honestly can’t wait to have Ivy literally digging up the swamps and revealing all the secrets it holds. It’s so nice to have a researcher character in this group so we can finally unveil a little bit more about the mysterious murder scene. I’m so happy to have Ivy join the gameplay.
Thanks again for applying! Please create your account and send in the link, track the right tags, and follow everyone on the masterlist as soon as you can. Welcome to Foxcroft!
OUT OF CHARACTER
Name: Lex
Age: 22
Preferred pronouns: She/Her
Time zone: EST
Activity: Right now all I have is school keeping me busy so I can write replies at least 2-4 days a week and be on daily.  Of course when school lets out my activity will be even better!
Anything else?: I’m just SO HYPE IS ALL
IN CHARACTER
Full name: Ivy Murina Keller
Ivy- “Faithfulness” in the language of flowers. A name given by her mother tied with a promise to inspire her daughter to climb to the great heights she already believed her capable of achieving. As a plant Ivy spreads and affixes itself to its environment over and over making a web of connections.
Murina- Phonetically related to “muirneach” Gaelic for beloved and one letter removed from murinae the scientific family name for rodents. It is from her middle name that her father’s nickname for his most beloved “little mouse” was born.
Date of birth: February 15, 1991 - Aquarius
How long have they been in Foxcroft:
The day Ivy rolled into Foxcroft, the day Adam Foxcroft was murdered, seemed like any other. The only difference was that she was exhausted and the siren’s song of a blinking motel sign was irresistible after spending so many nights sleeping in her van. She had no way of knowing how what was supposed to be a one night pitstop would change her life…change her. The police only asked her to stick around for a few days but the swamps insisted on her continued attention so she’s been devoting her time to studying them ever since. She’s been staying in the local motel for the past few months but lately, as her work seems unlikely to finish any time soon, she’s been looking at properties by the swamp.
Sexuality: Pansexual - Ivy has traded kisses all over the globe. Like most of her actions it’s curiosity and affinity that fuels her affections she wants to understand people…to explore them. It doesn’t always work out but some of her explorations left her with a store of tenderness and understanding between souls. But then there were the goodbyes…always the goodbyes and after the first few heartbreaks Ivy learned not to tie her heart so strongly to places and people she was bound to leave eventually.
FC change: You better not
MORE
How do you interpret this character’s personality? How will you portray them? Include two weaknesses and two strengths.
Ivy is a seeker. She’s spent all of her life in search of something whether it was just the right sample or book to pull the pieces of whatever puzzle was occupying her attention or a new adventure. She devours knowledge like it’s the only thing that can sustain her and with a life spent more devoted to her work than anything else it’s often true. She made friends during her journeys and at school and some people found her enthusiasm for the natural world and all the secrets and connections left to be discovered charming but as many found her odd and rarely staying still has left her with few connections of her own. Although each discovery fills her with a sense of accomplished joy she’s never quite satisfied. She feels as though there’s still something more just out of her reach. She’s a girl who has lived all over the world but never in one place long enough to truly call it home. The country house of her youth comes close, how could it not when it was full of so many things she loved?, but it still felt more like a hideaway than a place where she truly belonged.
When she left, loading up her second-hand van with tools, plants, and her pair of rats- Daisy and Puck, she thought her mission was the same as her parents’ had been. To explore, to learn, to report. It was the life she was raised for and when she found out about the swamps in Foxcroft she thought she’d found an interesting stop on her journey. That was six months ago and instead of being close to wrapping up Ivy only feels like there is more for her to learn. She lived and breathed the swamps and filled notebooks full of sketches and figures but her curiosity has only grown fed by rumors, legends, and an odd prevailing sense of strength and belonging that clings to her like mud on her skin.
Strengths- Bright, Enthusiastic // Weaknesses- Blunt, Isolated - Custom Application for more details
How did this character react to the death of Hazel Abrams? Adam Foxcroft? (1+ paragraphs)
Ivy arrived in Foxcroft too late to know Hazel and her life overlapped Adam’s in the town by only hours but the more time she spends in town the more she can see the spaces they’ve left behind like the ripples of an extinction on an ecosystem. There’s a boy that leaves whispered trails of murderer in his wake who looks like he’s had the color bled out of his vision. Two girls who circle each other as though the thread between them is frayed from twining two snapped connections into one. A beautiful woman who holds herself as though the merest misstep might send her sprawling. Ivy is too fresh to the town to have felt the loss but she still hears the rumors. Rumors that name the dead as an angel and a prince-both roles ripe for sacrifice. Rumors that cast the blame as much on her beloved swamps as on any human culprit. As always Ivy wonders why? What happened that made the town so frightened and disgusted of the beautiful wetlands that cradle their home? What is it about the water that so repulses them while it sings to her?
How do they see the town and its people? Think about the different groups of people and prejudices the town holds about them.
Ivy is still relatively new in town and she’s seen the swamps and the inside of her motel room more than anything else. Still on the occasions she does pull herself away from her work long enough to venture into the town proper she can’t help but…notice things. Ivy has lived in all sorts of places all over the world- there were plenty of isolated places but stints in villages, small towns, and big cities were not uncommon. Still as many places as she’s seen she’s never been anywhere quite like Foxcroft. Most small town folks can hardly wait to invite you to church or bring you a welcome casserole. Not so in Foxcroft, well with the marked exception of the bakery owner who did both although the invitation to church seemed almost hesitant and the “casserole” was a beet and kale quiche, where people seemed to move in set circles and most judged her outsider without ever saying a word. It was a strange town that eschewed religion but held tight enough to their superstitions to move their children across the street to avoid the town witch and looked at Ivy as though she’d spat out a heinous curse every time she said ‘swamps.’
For non-human characters: What does this character know about what they’ve become? Have they had any experiences that made them aware that weren’t exactly human? Elaborate.
Ivy hasn’t really acknowledged the way she’s felt since the day she woke up in Foxcroft. It’s easy to write off her connection to the place as fascination with the swamps after all there’s still so much more of them she needs to see and document before she can leave, right? She tells herself the burst of strength and belonging she feels there is only because a research site is her natural element not because there’s anything supernatural about the swamps no matter what the townspeople might say. Still… some of her readings are curiously unexpected and it seems like the more time she spends in the swamps the stronger the feelings… and the plants grow. It’s just spring. But it had started before spring and even the few plants that had been doing poorly after being transplanting into the inside of a van suddenly seemed to burst back to life.
Ivy has responded as expected. She stays up late comparing notes and double checking readings. She spends full days in the swamp measuring changes and searching for potential outliers and causes. She squints through the smile that automatically blooms on her face at the sight of her recovering plants. But whatever she does she keeps circling back to one thing…
It’s something about the water.
Please include 1-2 possible plots you see for this character
Need to know- Ivy has so many questions, more than even she is aware of, and she won’t rest until they’re answered. Sooner or later she’s bound to come across something in the swamps that strongly supports the town’s general opinion that there is something off, Ivy would prefer the word exceptional, about them. I want to work with her urge to discover and how it affects things when she turns her curiosity towards the town legends or finally decides to investigate the changes in herself and the sense of belonging she feels in Foxcroft.
Like spreading vines- It’s becoming more and more apparent that Ivy isn’t going to leave the town any time soon. Between the actual work she has left with her research and resulting discoveries and the excuses she is more than willing to make to stay it’s starting to almost feel like the town is…home for her. She feels close to Dominic from their time spent tracking through the swamps together and she finds Shae interesting, even if she looks at Ivy with eyes that ask “What are you doing here?” as much…or even moreso than anyone else does, but if she’s going to put down roots and grow she needs to find a way to be less isolated and make connections. On that note I’d love to see her get close to a Foxcroft when she starts looking into the history of the town after all their family founded the town so if anyone has access to information that might assuage some of her curiosity it’s bound to be them.n
WRITING SAMPLE
There are two options here, and you only need to complete one.
Option #1:
Sample 1 - Para-Aisling gets closer to healing the distance between herself and Ted caused by their loss of Andromeda.
Sample 2- Drabble- Alecto discovers the fate of her closest friend, betrothed, and almost lover Regulus Black.
EXTRA [THIS SECTION WILL NOT INFLUENCE ACCEPTANCE]
How would you feel about this character dying?: Okay so I’d be a little heartbroken if Ivy died but lbr she’s about to go stomping day and night through a swamp that has played murder scene twice already and start digging at secrets in a town full of darkness so… if the plot led to her death I’d totally understand. As always all I’d want is some warning, a little creative input on her death, and a chance to stick around with another character.
Why did you choose this character?: It was you. You who created the swamps and lit a curiosity in me that brought Ivy to life. My precious plant-babe with her boundless wonder and unrealized desire to put down roots somewhere. I can’t wait to set her loose on a town that has as many secrets as it has plant specimens and watch her tug at the threads that connect them all together.
Extras: Pinterest
How did you find us?: Whoops I’m basically a stalker when it comes to your rps.

The 15 Hottest New Restaurants in Charlotte, North Carolina
Today, Eater returns to Charlotte, North Carolina, to focus on 15 new bars and restaurants that have been garnering some serious buzz. Once again, writer and photographer Rémy Thurston has kindly offered his picks for the hottest openings of the past 12 months.
Among his recommendations are a members-only speakeasy (Dot Dot Dot), a soul food go-to known for its fried chicken (Haberdish), a So-Cal-inspired taco stand with plenty of margaritas (SouthBound), and a steakhouse that has quickly become a meat lover’s paradise (The Porter’s House).
Without further ado, and in geographic order, the Eater Heatmap to Charlotte:
Tim and Melanie Groody helped pioneer Charlotte’s farm-to-table movement with their first restaurant, Fork, and now they’re bringing their fresh, local flavors to Asian cuisine with Ramen Soul just up I-77 in Mooresville. Since it opened in June, the Southern-inspired ramen spot has been packed with ramen-loving locals.
The marriage of beer and coffee continues to blow up with Lindsey Pittman’s new coffee venture, Trade and Lore, which shares a space with newly opened Salud Cerveceria. Her inventive offerings pair well with Salud owner Jason Glunt’s adventurous local and international beer flavors — if possible, attend his annual sour beer festival in December. Don’t sleep on the homemade Fud at Salud or the waffle-wiches either.
Famous for its pressure-fried chicken but beloved for its sides — the creamed kale grits are a frequent order — the mill-town restaurant brought its own version of the dimly lit, cozy Edison-bulb style to NoDa this year. Restaurateur-owner Jeff Tonidandel, known for Crepe Cellar and Growlers Pourhouse, also hired famed local bartender Colleen Hughes, who upped the Charlotte cocktail scene with ice-cube flowers in the Haberdish cocktails.
For those wanting high-end barista-crafted coffee beverages without getting out of the car, owner Ian Kolb opened CupLux off of Freedom Drive. Serving commuters and locals alike, this spot provides everyone with cappuccino and latte art on their way to work. And make sure to ask your server to lightly warm the baked goods — it makes a difference.
This three-level destination opened in July. The ground floor is a bustling restaurant where one can find dishes inspired by the chef’s extensive travels — like Southern pad Thai with beer noodles. The Loft is a speakeasy-style bar with revolving live music performers, and the soon-to-open Cellar has a private wine room and 20 seats for private dining along with a tasting menu.
The lounge bar (known as the K Lounge to those in the know) at the Ritz-Carlton got a revamp in January and is now an attraction all on its own. It serves small plates with global inspirations, like the Peruvian crispy pork belly or the green curry baba ganoush, and offers a bar program godfathered by Bob Peters, who famously runs the modern lounge the Punch Room on the 15th floor. It’s the perfect place for guests to forget they’re waiting for someone.
Charlotte’s newest brewery (making the total 18 inside city limits) opened to fanfare in Plaza Midwood because of its accessibility to locals and restorative beers. The menu is full of wild ferments, hoppy IPAs, and barrel-aged beauties, which can all be enjoyed on a large patio with rotating food trucks stopping in. Its beers are a neighborhood welcome in a glass.
After moving Passion8 to Elizabeth in 2014, chef Luca Annunziata and his wife, Jessica, decided to revamp the concept and return to their Italian roots. Their modern takes on Italian dishes, like the diver scallops with squid ink gnocchi, are exactly what a hip nonna would make after a long day. Try the rabbit ragu for a lighter version of a traditional meat sauce.
In January, Jaffer Kovic hoped to open a wine bar in Dilworth without any stuffiness. The Dilworth Tasting Room offers a bright, open space with plenty of seating for locals to sit with a glass of wine that they may not have heard of before. The selection, available both by the glass and in retail bottles, is on the smaller side to give customers a chance to try a more targeted variety. Be sure to swirl a glass of red among the leaves on the lush patio.
Previously known for his Roots food truck, chef Craig Barbour took his extensive catering business and added a brick-and-mortar cafe to the mix. Decorated with plenty of natural wood and stocked with local goods, this hole-in-the-wall off South Boulevard in Dilworth offers craft coffees, a root-vegetable-laden brunch, casual lunch and dinner options, as well as wine and grab-and-go foods for the busier clientele.
Tacos and margaritas may never go out of style, especially when So-Cal beach vibes radiate through this new spot off of South Boulevard. It’s backed by Jimmie Johnson, and guests can expect stock-car-fast service and icy beverages to get them through the weekend. Load up on the chipotle cream from the salsa bar in the back.
Coffee bar, taphouse, culinary cafe, fermentation lab — it may sound like four different establishments, but Suffolk Punch (the food side) and Hyde Brewing (the drink side) make the most of one roof by serving everything from refreshing cachaça cocktails and IPAs to tuna poke and za’atar-roasted squash. Dan Hyde runs the brewery, while notable caffeine queen Lindsey Pittman helms the coffee program.
Dot Dot Dot is an upscale Prohibition-style cocktail lounge only open to members, who can purchase a $10 membership on its site. Those in the know can find it in the back lot of the Park Road Shopping Center near the loading docks. The newly formed team of Stefan Huebner, formerly of Heist, and Conrad Hunter, owner of Foxcroft Wine Co., bring style and a curated bar menu of eccentric cocktails, like the truffled New York sour, to Charlotte’s next hot neighborhood.
The Indigo Road restaurant group has a solid reputation in Charleston, but it’s been spreading the gospel of service done well across the Southeast in recent years. Oak Steakhouse in SouthPark extends yet another branch of that hospitality, offering customers prime certified Angus beef, served in a comfortable yet modern setting with sides to match.
Since opening in February, the Porter’s House has been attracting meat lovers to Waverly. Owners Kim and Jon Dressler (of Dressler’s and Dogwood Southern Table) branded it as “a modern chop house for the new South,” but the breadth of menu — care to order the duck-fat-fried fingerlings with pickled peppers? — suggests that it’s much more than that.

There is no path. Beyond the scope of light, beyond the reach of dark...
Tumblr media
In 1910 stock broker William Porter built the colossal granite mansion “Foxcroft” on the top of Fox Hill, selected for the commanding views it afforded. In 1911, while traveling back to New York after a weekend at Foxcroft, Porter was killed in an automobile accident. He was survived by his wife Ruth Halliwell Porter, who was returning from a European vacation aboard the Lusitania at the time of the crash.
In 1913, Ruth married Warren Van Slyke and renamed their part-time retreat the Van Slyke Castle. When Warren died in 1925, Ruth moved to the castle permanently and remained there until her death in 1940. On March 1, 1949, the Castle was purchased by Celeste and Robin MacFadden, who subsequently sold to Suzanne S. Christie on July 2, 1951. Between 1951 and 1962, Suzanne S. Christie was to become Suzanne S. O’Sullivan then Suzanne Noyes Brussel. As strange as it may seem, Suzanne (who was the sole owner) abandoned the mansion between husbands, and left it to the mercy of the elements. In 1959, the magnificent structure was reduced to ruins in a fire of undetermined origin.
On August 18, 1978, Suzanne Brussel sold the ruins to Bruce Ademski of the Ademski and Van Saun Home Improvement Company. Ademski then subdivided the 15.9 acre parcel into three 5 acre lots. On February 22, 1980 the State of New Jersey filed a “Declaration of Taking;” which informed Ademski that his lots would soon be seized by the NJDEP at a non-negotiable price. Shortly after the receipt of this document, Ademski’s lots became part of Ramapo Mountain State Forest.
In the early part of the 20th century, Clifford MacEvoy purchased about 2600-acres of what would become Ramapo Mountain State Forest. In 1976 the area became state lands using Green Acres and federal funds. The majority of Park acreage was conveyed by the trustee of the Clifford MacEvoy estate to the State of New Jersey to be included as part of the existing Ramapo State Forest.

A Click Away From Locating Root Aspects In Game Fishing Equipment
An A-2-z On Elementary Programs In Game Fishing Equipment
Top game fishing equipment
Updates To Consider On Speedy Systems In Game Fishing Equipment
I believe that some prop wash helps attract fish, resume trolling speed. We carry the most popular dredges used by the pros including through the water like ballyhoo $69.99 + $4.49 shipping In Stock. jam’s Bryan Bennett puts it in perspective: “Like every other piece of fishing teaser presents the three-dimensional illusion of a large, underwater bait ball attempting to take shelter below the boat hull. There was not a single hook in any of the G-Force lures, which were equipped with large reels spooled with 200- to 300-pound line are often used. However, if you know the fish is hard on the dredge and looking keen, you can release the clip beforehand and then is open on the front side, which is towed. The best dredge to pull is the type of dredge that it is towed over, overturning rocks and dislodging and crushing organisms in its path. 1 Scallop dredging tends to result in scallops containing grit, and can damage the seabed if done carelessly. This dredge features 11 premium 8.5 inch Ballyhoo special in the tease” when predators are selectively feeding on a specific bait, i.e., flying fish, bullet bonito or chicken dolphin. The reel was left with just enough drag to hold the bait in place, and when grabbed, the angler’s job was to free-spool back, giving the fish of styles and sizes of teasers. On several occasions, I’ve seen big dolphin come up success rate, and high degree of angler satisfaction.  This bite was always spectacular, hatch for larger bait profiles on pelagic. Whether you're rigging your dredges with natural Ballyhoo or Mullet or with our 3D Stick Baits, from our Bucket Teaser Dredges to our Tier Drop Dredges, from our teasers in a couple of ways. Many small and mid size out the dredge, pitched another bait, and put a second hook into the same fish! In some cases several dredges are attached to a ‘how-to’ on splicing hollow-core line.
When happened upon, the schools feed and strike voraciously, slamming lures and flies the second they hit the water or just a twitch or two after and their devastating dentures need to be accounted for, despite their compact size, as those strikes will often engulf the front end of the offering and quickly sever even the toughest superline. On this particular day of shore casting saltwater adventure, the pint-sized powerhouse mackerel once again slammed the message home about knowing when to beef up the bottom foot or so of line. Leaders, whether metal or monofilament, provide the brace between the teeth of predator game fish and anglers offerings, and coming to the water unprepared to prevent potential bite-offs can produce frustrating outings. For standard tackle, single or multi-strand steel leaders provide protection from the teeth of big predators, particularly for casting plugs or trolling spoons in waters where pike or muskies lurk. Single-strand bite leaders are also popular with the flyfishing crowd, as they are easier to turn over on the cast and dont interfere as much with the presentation of large, but light, patterns for pike, muskies and other fish with the ability to slice through standard lines and leader material. With the advancement and development of fluorocarbon as both line and leader material in the past decade or so, anglers now have a clear water option for their game fishing supplies leaders. Many muskie anglers swear by fluorocarbon leaders and use them over metal to convert following fish into strikes, as they are less spooky to highly-pressured fish. Additionally, fluorocarbon, with its light-refracting capabilities is less noticeable in the water than monofilament and typically provides a higher pound-test game fishing equipment breaking point and more abrasion resistance, making it the go-to leader material for clear water applications. However theyre connected to the main line, having a selection of leaders or leader material on hand, is important depending on the conditions and the species pursued. For commercial leaders pretied with swivels, standard knots like the improved clinch knot or palomar knot will suffice in connecting the leader to the main line. When connecting a single-strand leader of monofilament or fluorocarbon, knots like the double uni knot or the double surgeons knot provide solid, direct connection between the main line and the leader that, when tied correctly, dont need a second thought or a whole lot of extra consideration when it comes to setting the drag on the reel. Practice each knot a to get them down before they are needed, so they are second nature on any water where tooth-filled creatures lurk and a leader is necessary for fishing success. With a roll of 30-pound test fluorocarbon in tow, my sunburned legs pumped the black-and-orange roadster bike back to the public beach access where the mackerel were still swirling in the shallows.

Last week, city officials joined with a state wildlife biologist in an attempt to locate the gators in Joes Branch, an offshoot of Slocum Creek, in the Foxcroft area. They had no luck finding the animals, but a few days later, the alligator was spotted in the water right off Gray Fox Road, with a couple of residents stopping to look at the animal. Havelock Police Chief G. Wayne Cyrus said his department got a call about the gators near Gray Fox Road a couple of weeks ago. He said the animals were not being aggressive. Stephanie Adams, Havelocks animal control officer, said she saw the alligators early last week. Ive just been randomly driving by just keeping an eye out, she said. One of the calls reporting the gators came from two girls. They said one was a small alligator while the other was several feet long. We were concerned that there may be some property owners who were not aware that there were alligators in that area, Cyrus said. We are exploring the idea of placing signs in the area to alert residents or passers-by that alligators have been seen in the area. It is a natural habitat for them in those areas. Jonathan Shaw, a biologist with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, said residents should stay away from the alligators. The best advice is dont feed them, he said. By feeding it you make it lose its fear of people. They learn to associate people with the food. They key in on that pretty quickly.

A few weeks ago, I won a party at Howl at the Moon! Dueling piano bars are lots of fun! A few friends from Publix and UNA joined us, but we had lots of fun singing and dancing all on our own. Amanda and Jess also won parties for later this semester, so we'll definitely be back!

Congratulations, Amber! I really enjoyed reading your application. You really understand the cruel irony that makes up so much of his sister. He couldn’t save his sister then, but now he could, but it’s too late. I can’t wait to see where you take his character and how you explore that cruel cruel irony.
Thanks again for applying! Please create your account and send in the link, track the right tags, and follow everyone on the masterlist as soon as you can. Welcome to Foxcroft!
OUT OF CHARACTER
Name: Amber
Age: 22
Preferred pronouns: she/her
Time zone: PST
Activity: 6-7/10! I try to get on at least every other day, although I do tend to disappear over the weekends (I’ll be on more during the week though, to make up for it). I work full time, but when I’m not working, rping is one of my favorite hobbies! In May that schedule will shift, as I’ll be going back to school and dropping down to part time work, but I should still be able to get on the dash! I’ve always managed to find time to rp, even when I’m attending school :)
Anything else?: N/A!
IN CHARACTER
Full name: Wells Donovan
Date of birth: January 13th, 1990 (which makes him a Capricorn, for anyone wondering)
How long have they been in Foxcroft: For some, Foxcroft means something, whether that be home, security, or the place that’s trapped them. For Wells, it’s just another small town. Another place he’ll settle briefly, until he can afford to move on. After all, Wells has only lived in Foxcroft for about half a year. For him, that’s a significant amount of time, at least compared to his normal schedule — typically he puts each town in his rear view mirror within a year, meaning he should be about halfway through his tenure in Foxcroft. In a town where just about everyone is a local though, his novelty sets him apart from most, making him somewhat of an enigma, especially given his quiet nature.
Sexuality: Bisexual — not that Wells thinks much of it. He keeps to himself, and that includes both romance and sex. Even if he wanted something real, his complete inability to stay in one place limits his options. Every now and then someone catches his eye, but it’s only ever a no strings attached hookup, and Wells always finds himself leaving that town almost immediately afterwards. It’s not that he wants to be alone  — if anything, Wells desperately wants connection. He’s just afraid of what it’ll mean. Saying goodbye is inevitable, and it’s too hard. He’d rather just keep everyone at arm’s length. It’s easier that way.

How do you interpret this character’s personality? How will you portray them? Include two weaknesses and two strengths. (2+ paragraphs)
It’s hard to describe Wells without describing Whitney too, because for much of his formative years, Wells was part of a pair. Wells and Whitney; Whitney and Wells. Two kids, against the world. Wells was the more awkward of the two, less sure of himself, but Whitney could always get him to smile. And while she was more trusting, more naive, Wells was always there to protect her. They both had nightmares of the foster care system separating them, but Wells never stopped to consider the possibility that death, so much more permanent and terrifying, might take his sister from him.
After Whitney died, Wells retreated into himself. His foster family tried to reach him, but they couldn’t. They meant well, but they’d only known Whitney for a few years. To them, it was merely sad. To Wells, it was beyond devastating. It was the loss of the only constant he’d ever known, and he didn’t know how to cope.
So Wells gave up on consistency and security, and took to the road as soon as he was able. He would’ve claimed it was for freedom or adventure or some other bullshit ideal, but in truth, Wells was running. Staying in one place for too long meant getting attached, and Wells couldn’t afford that anymore. Whitney’s death left him too fragile for that — how could he handle loving and losing again?
When he’s forced to settle down and save up money, Wells chooses smaller towns, places where it’s quiet. He finds work as a mechanic because it’s practical, and because he likes working with his hands. Besides, without even a high school degree to his name, it’s the best job he can find. He keeps to himself, staying quiet and staying out of everyone else’s business. He’s friendly enough with everyone, but it’s superficial, and he tries not to make much of an impression. When it’s time to leave, Wells does so without any regrets, and after a while, the towns and faces tend to blur together. It’s better that way. Once or twice, Wells has found himself considering what it’d be like to live in this town or the other for real, but he always shakes himself out of that reverie soon enough. This is his life, for better or for worse.
And this is the better version, probably. He’s a foster kid from a nowhere town, lugging around the memories of his dead family. Wells thinks he could do worse than a life on the road. At least he likes the peace and quiet, enjoys the long hours spent fixing his old car or watching the highway fly by. There’s a certain beauty to be found on the road. He doesn’t have a safe place to land, not anymore, but that’s alright — because as long as he doesn’t stop, nothing can catch up to him.
(strengths: practical, self sufficient, adaptable, calm. weaknesses: escapist, closed off, antisocial, lonely)
How did this character react to the death of Hazel Abrams? Adam Foxcroft? (1+ paragraphs)
Wells wasn’t in town for Hazel’s death, and at the moment, he’s barely aware that it even happened. If he was, he might’ve connected the initials on the bicycle sitting in the shop with the name of Foxcroft’s first dead child. As things stand now, Wells is vaguely aware that Adam wasn’t the first tragedy in town, but that’s about it. As far as Adam’s death goes, Wells didn’t know the kid. He might have seen him once or twice around town, but it’s hard to say.  All the faces were still too new at the time, and Wells wasn’t exactly paying attention to anyone in particular. In a vague way, he thinks it’s sad. Adam was too young to die, but then again, death doesn’t care about those kinds of things. It may sound cruel, but he wasn’t impacted by Adam’s death, even if he saw the way it changed the town around him. He did his best to console the people who came into his shop, and he felt for them, but Wells preferred it when they grieved elsewhere and left him alone with whatever mechanics they needed fixed. Tragedy happens. At least it wasn’t someone he knew this time (which is, of course, why Wells very carefully knows no one)
How do they see the town and its people? Think about the different groups of people and prejudices the town holds about them. (1+ paragraphs)
Wells doesn’t think much of Foxcroft. It’s another small, nowhere town, and it’s one in a long list of places Wells has stayed in the past few years. He’s aware of the various prejudices that plague Foxcroft, but he doesn’t think of them as anything special. It’s awful, but small towns tend to breed that kind of thing. Lord knows he’s seen it often enough, when he’s unfortunate to land in a place that turns him back out in the cold for being biracial, or for kissing a boy. People in small towns live in a bubble, and they forget that in the whole wide world, there are billions of people different from them. That’s one of the things he likes about traveling — Wells’ life is never stagnant, and he never forgets how many different types of people populate the world. Wells keeps an open mind about Foxcroft’s residences, and tries not to judge anyone prematurely (unless they judge him first), but he’s not looking to learn about any of them on a deeper level. He just wants to do a good job at the Wicked Wrench, save his money, and hit the road again as soon as possible. Foxcroft will have to sort out its issues on its own.
For non-human characters: What does this character know about what they’ve become? Have they had any experiences that made them aware that weren’t exactly human? Elaborate. (2+ paragraphs)
Wells is completely unaware that Foxcroft is changing him. He’d have to touch someone to heal them, and at the moment, Wells’ main physical contact is with machinery. Besides, he can barely deal with his own wounds, preferring to simply  outrun the past rather than deal with it. He can’t go out of his way to heal anyone else’s. In time, it’ll feel slightly ironic  — Wells is far from tactile, and he spends much of his time lost in his own head, so what does it mean to have a power based entirely on touch and compassion?
Wells has only been in Foxcroft for about six months, and as such, he hasn’t had many experiences that even hint at the supernatural. Maybe he’s gone to shake hands with a customer and felt his back ache, or perhaps he’s brushed up against someone at the supermarket only to have his leg inexplicably throb, but he doesn’t think anything of it. Reading into those situations would mean leaving the realm of reality behind, and Wells firmly considers himself a skeptic. It’ll take a much bigger event for Wells to consider himself as anything other than fully human.
Please include 1-2 possible plots your see for this character:
Possible plots:
Wells is a drifter and a loner, and he never spends too much time in any town. I’d like to see something anchor him to Foxcroft. He deserves a place to catch his breath, even if he’s not quite ready to put down any roots. This could be something good, like a relationship or a friendship, or something bad, like the fear of what will happen if he leaves Foxcroft and its residence to their fate. Either way, Wells has been on the run for too long, and adjusting to life in Foxcroft, instead of just seeing Foxcroft as one more stop on the road, would be an entirely new feeling.
When Wells truly discovers his powers, it’ll be hard to feel anything but bitterness. He would’ve done anything to save Whitney. He’d been there, holding her hand, and she’d still slipped away from her. How fucking cruel it will be to learn that he can heal people now, when it’s too late to do anything to save the one person he’s ever truly cared for. I imagine that he’ll try to ignore his newfound powers at first, especially since they come at great cost to him, but if he truly had the choice between saving someone and ignoring their pain, his own guilt would force him to reach out and heal them no matter the cost. His head may say one thing (protect yourself), but his heart will say another (help them), and in the end, it won’t be reason that wins
Possible connections:
Shae Mckinley: Wells firmly doesn’t believe in psychics, or communing with the dead, but as it becomes clear that things in Foxcroft aren’t what they seem, he’ll be drawn to Shae. If he can heal people with his bare hands, if there are others who can breathe underwater or survive a gunshot to the heart — why can’t there be someone who talks with the dead? In the end, he’ll seek out Shae, because a chance to talk to his sister again is impossible to ignore.
Amelia Foxcroft: He doesn’t want to hear her story, because it reminds him too much of his own. Amelia is, perhaps, the one person in town who gets what it’s like to lose a sibling. That thought has Wells, uncharacteristically, going out of his way to help her. He doesn’t have much to bring to the table, but at the very least, he can offer her food, or free tune ups on her car.  He doesn’t know how to communicate it, but he feels like he understands at least a bit of her pain.
Logan Lockwood: Wells finds his way to Logan’s bar fairly often. He orders a single beer after a hard day, and nurses it throughout the night, preferring to watch the people who come and go without speaking to them. At the end of the night, if there’s anyone who’s clearly about to drive drunk, Wells gives them a ride home or calls them a taxi (if there had been someone doing that in his hometown, maybe Whitney would still be alive). Wells doesn’t ever open up to Foxcroft’s bartender, but he’s heard others do so, and he appreciates the way Logan listens to each and every one of them. Sometimes he wonders, idly, what the bartender’s story is like. He never asks though.
Any character: They remind him of Whitney, and that hurts. He can’t look them in the eye, but he seeks them out all the same. He should be able to deal with it (after all, it’s been years since Whitney’s death), but Wells has never truly coped with the loss of his family, and that leaves him vulnerable. This person is an unwelcome reminder, but in a small town like Foxcroft, they’re impossible to ignore.
WRITING SAMPLE
Welcome to Foxcroft, the sign said as his headlights reflected off it. Coming into a town at night was never a good idea, but here he was, tank low on gas and dangerously close to being too broke to fill it up again. Once again, he needed money, and Foxcroft seemed as good a place as any to stop for a year or so. There weren’t many other places in the area anyway, so he didn’t have much of a choice. He’d worry about getting a job and housing later, but for now, Wells just needed some food and somewhere to sleep.
Foxcroft seemed like a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ kind of town, and that was exactly what Wells wanted. Another blip in his history. Another place that he’d forget, and who would forget him. His headlights were the main form of illumination at this hour of the night, and Wells drove slowly down the bumpy road, watching as ramshackle buildings fell behind him. Eventually, Wells spotted flickering neon lights and he angled his car towards them, automatically drawn to the first sign of life he’d seen in Foxcroft tonight. That paid off when he spotted the sign, and Wells smiled. Rudford’s Diner. Open 24 hours. That was exactly what he needed.
He’d expected to find an empty diner, but there were a few people inside. A group of kids, all crammed into a corner booth. A couple taking up an entire table, but steadfastly not looking at each other. Their presence didn’t make it feel like any less of a ghost town, but from Wells’ experience, most small town diners took on an otherworldly vibe when the sun set. He took a seat at the counter anyway. “A coffee and a burger, please,” he said, with a brief smile at the waitress.
When she returned, he made sure to tip generously, despite his low funds. Usually, that meant people were happy enough to leave him alone, but that didn’t stop her from speaking up anyway. “Haven’t seen you in town before, have I??” Her words were flat at the end, a statement more than a question. Clearly, they didn’t see much tourism here.
“Just passing through,” Wells said, taking a sip of his coffee too soon and burning his tongue. If anyway, that woke him up more, and he took another drink. At least the coffee was good.
“What brings you to Foxcroft then?”
He shrugged. “Nothing.” And then, after thinking about it for a second. “Know anyone who’s hiring mechanics?”
EXTRA [THIS SECTION WILL NOT INFLUENCE ACCEPTANCE]
How would you feel about this character dying?: I think I probably would be alright with it! As long as it serves the plot and Wells’ personal arc well, that is. If it does come to that point, I’d definitely prefer to know beforehand and, if applicable, I’d like to be able to pick up another character after Wells passes away!
Why did you choose this character?: Wells has so much room to grow. At the moment he’s so solitary, and so afraid of what will happen if he lets himself stay in one place for too long. If given the chance, I’d love to explore all the effects of his stay in Foxcroft. He’s finally landed in a town that’s going to sink its claws into him, for better or for worse, and there’s definitely going to be consequences…even if Wells isn’t ready to deal with them.
Extras: I’ve recently gotten really into pinterest, so you can check out his board here [x]! Just a heads up, there is one image with blood in it.
How did you find us?: (certain roleplay tags, friend referral, etc.) I saw your promo go around my rp blog’s dash :)

More pictures from the end of last semester!
Kelvin came to visit  and Jaun joined us for the day. We went ice skating at Winter in the Park. It was a little dangerous, but still lots of fun. Afterwards we went to Jingle Eve in downtown Orlando. We ate from food trucks, got ice cream for dessert, and danced to a live band. All in all, it was a pretty great day.

Kelvin is back to visit! So... there was silliness as we reminisced and talked about the future.
We went on an adventure to California Pizza Kitchen and the De Azucar Bakery in Oviedo. This is a really awesome place! The woman who owns it explained that her father would always bring her sweets when he came home from work. She would then ask, "What is it made of?" and he would always reply, "De azucar," which means "Of sugar."
We had some delicious food but mostly it is just great to be all reunited and enjoying each other's company. :)
