☆ you anxiously woke up at 9am the morning of your first dance class at ni-ki's studio. it was a scary feeling to think that you would have to begin again, even with 10 years of experience under your belt. you were starting to outgrow your old dance studio; even with some great teachers, they were used to only teaching younger kids and you had just recently turned 18, making you unfit for the studio anymore.

luckily, you had been following nishimura riki, the greatest dancer you have seen, for some time and knew that the studio he went to was also open to older students, since he was only a few months older than you.

this seemed to be a great opportunity; in the past, you had wanted to go to his studio before but something, maybe fear, kept you from going.

the 2h class only started at 6pm, so you spent your morning and lunch fidgeting and pacing around the house like a madman. when it was time to get ready, you just picked a pair of sweatpants you had on your desk chair and a freshly washed baggy t-shirt. you packed your dance bag and made sure you didn't forget your water bottle and the black converse you were to change into before class.

once you arrived at the foreign building, you tried your best to go to the right practice room. after walking around the building for a good 3 minutes, you saw a group of teenagers around the same age as you huddled up at one of the rooms' doors. inside you could see through the glass door riki preparing the room for your class.

standing in between the unknown faces of the strangers that shared the same interest as you was a very awkward feeling. you wished to be a bit more open but it was just too hard. maybe once you start dancing it will be better; you've been told many times that you become a different person when you're on stage or dancing, so that calmed you down a bit.

the first thing you and the other students did, along with the teacher and riki, was to warm up really well. that's when you started to feel more at home. after that, the tall boy had to demonstrate the choreography you were about to learn in the following hour. watching his videos online was one thing, but seeing him so close and in his element felt like winning the lottery. it was almost an undescribeable sentiment; he looked so cool and charming while dancing and anybody noticing the way your eyes sparkle watching him smoothly move his body could tell you truly admired the boy.

now it was your turn to learn the combination of moves riki has previously showed the class. usually, you were a quick learner when it came to dance, but there was one certain move that you couldn't quite get. the teacher gave you a small break to take a breather and drink some water after she told everybody that if they have any questions you were free to ask her assistant.

suddenly, a small crowd of people was formed around ni-ki, so you waited a few steps further to ask your question. without meaning to, you heard the conversations started with the boy. "can we take a picture?" "can you sign this for me, please?" "would you be able to follow me back?" and so on.. that was until he let out a frustrates sigh and asked loudly if anybody had any questions related to the dance. "my moment to shine" you thought and stepped closer to ni-ki.

"hi.." you said quieter than you wanted to. the boy simply nodded waiting for you to continue. "i'm having trouble with this one move; i'm not sure what the timing is for it. could you please show me again?" the boy's gaze was so intense while you were speaking, maybe because he had a hard time hearing what you were saying over all the noise, but one thing you knew was that the stare made your heart race. "yess, of course! here, pay attention" and that's exactly what you did. "thank you so so much!!" "no problem!" and so, you returned to your place in the back with the whole choreography learned.

it took awhile for the rest of the dancers to memorize the entire dance and you were patient, as usual.

finally, it was time to be put into groups and for one lucky person to do the combo with the teacher and riki. some people don't get chosen at all, since there's too many people and too little time and that is what you thought your fate would be. but, ohh, how wrong you were. "now for the person that gets to dance with me and the amazing teacher we have here.."

ni-ki carefully scanned the place for the face he was looking for. following his gaze, you almost passed out when out of nowhere his eyes landed on you and the two of you made eye contact. "you!" what?! you looked around but everybody was just looking back at you. "yes, you!" it was the teachers time to speak. "riki and i decided you really compliment our dance style and we really love your fluidity!" wow.. you were ecstatic to hear that, especially since it was your first class after leaving your studio.

the recording went by in a flash and there you were now, checking to see if it was a good take. you were very satisfied with it, so that was your first and final take. after everybody else was done with their groups, the dancers listened to a few final remarks that were said and soon, you were all dismissed.

pleased with your performance that evening, you were heading to the changing room when all of a sudden someone grabbed your wrist in an attempt to stop you in your tracks. startled, you turned around, shocked to be met with the tall, charming figure of your favourite dancer, the one and only, nishimura riki.

"heyy!" he said in a tone meant to mask his nerves, but you could tell he was a bit hesitant for some reason. "hi.." you anxiously replied, thinking that maybe you had done something wrong during the class. "i was wondering.. are you interested in joining my team? i carefully watched you today and, i have to say, i really like your style and the way you prepare for a performance!" you looked at him in shock.

"oh wow.. are you serio- really?" "mhm!" he nodded cheerfully. "oh my god.. this is crazy but yes. yes it would be an honour to be part of your team!" "thank god!" ni-ki exhaled relaxed, as if he had passed the hardest exam of his life. "i was really scared you would refuse; a dancer like you must have many teams wanting to scout you" "you would be surprised to find out that i am actually on my own right now!" you laughed. "not anymore!" ni-ki brightly smiled at you.

who knew that this one singular class could change your whole life...

Libraries and Adult Lonliness

As we all know, making friends as adults is hard. And while the internet has made it easier to make friends with people around the world, actually meeting people you can meet with on a regular basis and just hang out with us tough. The common answer to meeting new people is to find people who are interested in the same stuff as you. As such, finding places to meet new people who may have similar interests to you is important. And that’s why I think the library is a great resource!

As a children’s librarian, one of the things I try to point out to parents when they come in to sign their kids up for the library is that we offer adult programs too. Obviously we have book clubs - my library has 4 different book clubs for people who read different types of books. I’ve posted about it before with knitting/crochet circles. But for people who have or want to explore different interests, and meet new people via that new interest, you may want to check your local library to see their programming. For example:

Hiking: Many libraries offer things like hiking kits. These can be things such as maps for local trails, hiking sticks, a water resistant backpack, binoculars, bird guides, and the like. But some libraries having hiking clubs, such as the Poughkeepsie Public Library Distruct in NY.

Language Learning: Many libraries have access to language learning platforms such as Rosetta Stone or Mango Languages. But many other have dedicated classes where adults can come and learn languages. If you’re in L.A. county, the public library offers classes in beginner Russian, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Armenian, etc!

Music: there are many libraries that have maker spaces where you can go and record music. There’s one in the Newark Library and at a branch of the Brooklyn library. There are also ones that allow you to check out instruments. But there are also ones where you can receive free music lessons, such as the Dallas Public Library (this program was online during the pandemic but is now also offered in person!)

I could keep going.

Singing, dancing, theater, yoga, sketch comedy, creative writing, RC Cars, foraging, cemetery tour groups, jewelry making, baking, woodworking, painting, etc. If you have a niche interest or would like to get into a niche interest, there is a chance your library has had or will have a program about it. And if you’re looking to meet new people, it is a great place to start.

Oh, what if Fuyumi's scar thing happens while she's at school? Like, it’s a total accident, but it’s pretty bad, & they have to either call somebody, or drive her over to the hospital, & then we have "The Incident", after which Enji shows to pick Fuyumi up, & goes "I'm sorry, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY DAUGHTER!?"

I think I'm sticking with the kitchen incident if only because the image of Enji pulling up to see an ambulance in front of the house and freaking out is fantastic.

This actually makes me swing to the kids' schooling because like.

Canon implies that they're not in regular school and I do kinda roll with that. Like they're in online classes or something.

I'm gonna go into this in the next chapter of Road to Hell actually but I'll talk on it here a bit!

So like. Toya and Fuyumi do go to school for a little bit. This is mostly when they're kindergarten age, because Rei can't watch both them /and/ take care of Natsuo because newborns are a full time job.

By the time Shoto is born, Toya and Fuyumi are old enough to be left to their own devices to an extent. Though Natuso still needs watched, Toya and Fuyumi are old enough to be able to watch him and/or Shoto for a few minutes while Rei gets something done.

(Theoretically at least. Rei's mental health starts it's decline here so she's leaning on them a bit more than she should. Thankfully this is just the beginning so the kids don't get real neglected but it's still a problem).

Now this isn't /why/ Toya and Fuyumi got taken out of public school, but it is part of the justification to do so.

I need to hammer out all of the reasons because it's kind of a combination to me? Like, Toya is the kind of kid who would def get bullied and Enji is already so worried about the kid with his Quirk being Like That™ and the stubbornness where he keeps pushing to be trained so yeah he wants the kid to be safe where he can control. Fuyumi def has an incident of like, freezing a boy who was pulling her pigtails and the school staff is all 'oh come on he's teasing you because he likes you the freeze is an overreaction!' and he does not like a school like that.

And it's a handful of other little things especially when he's decided his original 'best' school option wasn't good enough. But hey online classes exist and there's good research into it. Yeah it's less social than a classroom but it does let them focus on schoolwork which is the important part. They can get socialization elsewhere they're not like. Locked in the house they can go to the park down the road if they want to make friends and if they want to sign up for some hobby like dance or a sport then sure yeet them in. (Shoto's probably the one the most isolated because of the Hero Training starting right off the bat. But even then if he has an interest that can be worked around in the little free time he has between school and Enji getting home from work. Or even a combo like ice skating where it can be utilized for Hero work so he counts it as a training day).

Anyway!

The kids stay in online school for elementary and middle school, but then we get to high school and well.

Toya wants to go to UA. He still wants to be a Hero but he has A Plan to get Enji to agree but he needs to be at UA for it to work. So he makes a point of it to point out how the Gen Ed course is still a very good education and would look good on any college applied to.

This does work because UA is a safer option. Enji knows the school well. He knows their values and policies. They'll keep the kid safe. They'll deal with any bullying or harassment that comes his way.

So he's fine with letting the kids go to UA. He does make a deal with Toya to try and stop the whole 'wanting to be a Hero' thing. But he does offer it when Fuyumi and Natsuo get old enough. Obvs Shoto goes and /technically/ it's an offered choice because you don't have to go to a Hero School to be a Hero and Enji's training routines are enough that Shoto should be able to pass the licensing exams (unless some nonsense happens like it does in Canon). But he thinks UA would be good for Shoto as a Hero because learning different techniques from different people is a good thing.

Fuyumi and Natsuo both obviously go to college which is. Fun. They choose that themselves for the most part because ya know they're adults now it's their responsibility. Though the "fun" part is that Enji is paying for both of them but because of Natsuo's previous experience with both Enji's mistakes but especially the PR team the kid keeps expecting the funding to get yoinked out from under him.

Random Lookism Thoughts that I Get During Class:

(Whenever I daydream during class, I always think of these random scenarios or if they were real, they’d probably do these things IRL.)

Vasco: He would be heard singing One Direction with the rest of the Burn Knuckles crew in the hallway at school, especially the song What Makes You Beautiful.

Daniel Park: He’d be fine with helping his female friends out, by making him their makeup model to try different shades of makeup whenever he gets dragged into a makeup store with them, like in Sephora

Jay Hong: He’s the type of guy who’d gladly help you in finding puzzle pieces for a picture. Also, he’d be good at playing charades. (Only when acting out the topic.)

Samuel Seo: The type of mf to act like he can beat the shit out of everybody in a MMA ring but then cries at home after just losing one round to a professional. (Or maybe he’d get disqualified off the bat for not following the rules because we all know this man is a walking time bomb.)

Johan Seong: This guy acts like he’s the shit but then doesn’t even know what’s the shit. For instance, he claims to know all of the Tik Tok trends that Zack shows him, but doesn’t even have Tik Tok.

Zack Lee: The type of guy to think that Africa is a country. (Or England is his city. Mira had to correct him every time. LMAO) Also, he might think Drake’s music is top tier and you might catch him trying to sing “One Dance” to Mira.

Vin Jin: Let’s be honest. We all have a feeling that he’d be a rising underground SoundCloud rapper with his 50 followers on SoundCloud. His inspirations would probably be K-Hip Hop rappers such as ZICO, Jay Park, Flowsik, etc. (or anyone in H1GHR Music). And his fashion sense would probably be inspired by Dumbfoundead, who was inspired by American East L.A. hip hop. (You can see from Vin Jin’s previous outfits in older Lookism chapters, with his snapback cap, black hoodie, plaid shirts and gold chain)

Jake Kim: This dude would definitely bring the entire Big Deal crew to Disneyland, but they would be stuck in the entrance checkpoint since he was thinking of just barging in there for free. Even Jerry wore Mickey ears and was hoping to get into Disneyland that day.

Kouji: This kid would have trolled people online by causing unnecessary arguments and debates on Reddit, and would later dox them and expose their personal information on Reddit, 4chan, etc. (And maybe sell people’s personal info to shady people on the Dark Web for a good amount of cash.) His hobby would be looking into internet mysteries, such as Cicada 3301.

Eli Jang: He’d be Insta-famous and would probably have like 100k followers, getting a bunch of promotion offers (Men’s Fashion Nova). Sally and the rest of the Hostel girls would help Eli dress up for his “photoshoots” even though it’s just them taking pics of Eli in different places. One of his main hobbies would be looking at popular hair trends on Instagram, to try them out at his work.

Joon Goo Kim: He would secretly be an anime fan. If he started watching anime, he’d definitely choose Demon Slayer first then become a fan. He’ll even buy and collect weapons from anime that he’d watch including those from Naruto, Bleach, and Jujutsu Kaisen. (Update: He’d definitely be a Gojo fan. They’re similar in a way.)

Jong Gun Park: You’d probably catch him in the UFC gym, training and working out. But then will end up causing a blood bath in the gym when he goes on a crazy fighting spree, just by punching people who he thinks are strong. You might see this man in a video on Worldstar or on a random Tik Tok video by an ordinary civilian.

Carmen Anthony Berzatto, do we have a mental health problem?

You might wanna read this for context first.

I’m gonna get academic boring for a whole minute here, so feel free to just skip right to my point at the bottom.

Whilst Carmy definitely has mommy issues, and even daddy issues as well, plus he has sublimated his sexual attraction for Syd in getting a bullshit star for her as explained and predicted here, which triggered a relapse in his addition (workaholism), as I described and predicted here. That behavior, like any addiction, is in essence a repressed sexual impulse (according to Freud). According to other experts, addiction can, in essence, be considered a neurosis (more based on Jung’s concept, which is more advanced than Freud’s but does integrate it) and all of those concepts are Freudian and thus psychoanalytical, there’s a reason why IRL psychoanalysis is not the line of treatment used to treat neither addiction nor any of the other conditions Carmy has, such as C-PTSD, burnout syndrome, etc., all the other stuff I mentioned here in the extended version. What I didn’t mention there is Carmy’s neurodivergency, AUADHD (educated observation based on Carmy’s monologue in S1 and basically Carmy’s behavior during THE WHOLE SERIES and his untrained and innate talent in the arts that leads to alienation, etc) because neurodivergencies are not mental health issues, necessarily, so they shouldn’t be put on that list.

Carmy’s case is a clear case that IRL would be treated with a combo of Systemic Therapy + the classic line of treatment for addiction based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) + what nowadays is starting to be also paired with neuroscience therapy (NT) and giving very positive results. I won’t bore you even further with the figures but they can easily be found online.

My point is: The Bear, the name of the show, represents not just Carmy Berzatto, The Bear, but also the place where many souls come together to interact with each other and all those lives are going to intrinsically be changed by that experience, that has The Bear in common. Thus the show as a whole, including all of its characters, of course, is SYSTEMIC, which is the opposite of the Psychoanalytic approach. And it's super important to take this into account because the systemic approach in mental health and in every other field where it's applied, like in business, or even education, etc is an approach in which everything is viewed as part of a whole, it's basically like a continuous dance between the individual personal perception and it's environment and how they both affect each other, whereas the psychoanalysis' ultimate goal is getting as deep in the individual psyche as possible, dive into the individual's deepest unconscious.

In case you are wondering, I do have the credentials but I'm also and most importantly, one of those who believe that you don't need credentials to discuss mental health, and this show is among other stuff very much about mental health. What you need is the desire to be aware of it and as a matter of fact, I strongly advocate IRL for mental health to be actively talked about in class since elementary school and included as part of the curricular activities throughout the entirety of the school years, all the way to Senior year. Basically, I'm all for even kids with no Elementary education credentials talking about mental health. Mental Health shouldn't be an elite topic, or taboo, or necessarily a "problem". That doesn't mean that misinformation should be spread, clearly, and I have seen A LOT OF IT AROUND HERE LATELY WHICH DROVE ME NUTS, but it does mean that the fact that I have plenty of credentials to talk about this matter, is not the point.

So, back to my point: when those kids go out into the "adult world" they not only have an accurate self-awareness about their own mental health, but they also have more empathy for others and tools to cope with what we all know they will have to cope at some point in a world that is far from perfect, but most importantly have compassion. All of this to say: cases like Carmy's, Donna's, Michael's, Chef Fields, etc could be prevented or not as dramatic if we'd look at mental health as "a must" to be dealt with from a very young age, at home, school, later at work, etc. We shouldn't talk about it only if there's a problem that moves us to go and get help, or that makes us wanna go to therapy. NO! Mental health awareness can be as simple as a breakfast at home where we actually talk and listen for a few minutes while we have that cup of coffee or dig into that bowl of cereal, mental health awareness can be us watching The Bear as a family and using that space to vent about how we see ourselves or our families represented by that scene on the screen, mental health awareness can be us choosing not to lash out at someone WHO DESERVES IT BC THEY ARE BEING A BULLY or trying to get attention in a passive-aggressive way and rather set healthy boundaries, this can be practiced online or offline, of course. Mental health awareness is understanding -or trying our best to- that the person we are interacting in one way or the other with, can very well be in this headspace:

I said understand, not necessarily tolerate. But that understanding based on compassion can change it all. That is my point.

Bonus track: I am still mad at Storer but I forgave him, kinda like what Syd keeps doing with Carm because she gets what I just said, she's a natural. BUT Storer is still, and will always be, my spirit animal because he portrayed mental health like I have never seen on TV before. No misstep he takes, and he did take a few this last season, will ever undo the amazing job he did in the past, and I will always be grateful to him for that. He started a conversation that was loooooooooooong overdue.

Mun, give me your shot on Usagi Headcannons :crying & fire emoji: the world needs it

Of course! Here's what I got so far in terms of backstory and tidbits about him too:

Usagi's parents are Robert Alohaoe and Donna Therese Alohaoe (née Nakashima). Both are Japanese-Hawaiian descent and Usagi is their only child. Usagi had a twin sister that didn't make it to term but neither of his parents told Usagi her name or that she existed, not wanting their son to feel guilty or sad about the matter in any way.

Robert was a construction worker who was also the local construction union's president. Donna works as a receptionist for a retail tax office in Downtown Honolulu. After Robert's death, Donna quit her job due to grief and now stays at home. She's able to manage the payout for Robert's death so she and Usagi could live comfortably and more and is rather frugal too.

Growing up, the Alohaoes were a close, loving family. They were actually involved in a local church in Honolulu and Usagi's early years were him being involved in things like the children's choir and plays done in celebration of Christmas and Easter. The church itself was a nondenominational Christian church that the Alohaoes met through and got married in.

Both parents wanted Usagi to have some exposure to the arts but lacked the resources to give him professional classes or have him try out auditions for agencies, so Usagi's time in the performing arts involved him taking free community classes or attending volunteer-run events. It's there that he learned how to dance, sing, and act.

Usagi was a rather popular kid with many friends from church, despite his father worrying that being a theater/dance kid would mean kids were going to bully him. His rise to fame among the church kids was when he showed that he could do the splits during a free ballet class. He was also, at the time, strong enough to lift the girls trying to pretend to be ballerinas.

Robert's death threw more than just a wrench into things. Despite the church doing what they can to help and comfort, both Donna and Usagi lost their faith and stopped attending services like before. Usagi briefly stopped doing theater stuff and stopped seeing his friends at church. He became a loner in school that people thought was weird. He often brushes off his father's death as a means of coping with it. But, secretly, he misses his dad a lot.

Usagi himself isn't religious anymore as he started getting involved in scientific research and not agreeing with sentiments that various religions have towards marginalized groups (women, lgbtqia+, indigenous, etc.). But, when he misses his dad or really needs divine intervention, he will say a little prayer and hope it gets answered.

To satisfy his itch for performing later in life, he turned to learning Kpop choreography and making Kpop content. He has a secret social media account where he dresses up with his face and body covered and films himself doing dance covers. He would also attend Random Kpop Dance Plays anonymous as well to talk to other stans. Everyone knows him as his dance persona but no one really knew who he is under the all-black fits and surgical masks he wears.

He's massive in the forums related to BTS. Online, ARMYs knew him as an i-lovely with wacky theories about the BTS universe and his love for Suga. His biaswrecker is Jimin and he eventually bonds with Charming Man over BTS as the two start to become more friendly with each other. Usagi also runs an anonymous stan twitter account to help him keep up with Kpop news and is really involved in voting during awards season.

Since his father's death, Donna has been way more overprotective than before. Usagi himself was a sheltered kid and sometimes feels suffocated by her actions. He does understand that he is arguably the only physical reminder of Robert and her intentions are well-meaning, but it has caused him to rebel secretly. It's part of why he accepted work from Meryl Mei and experimented with drugs. He does it behind her back because he doesn't want to disappoint his mom in the end.

Usagi wishes to be a researcher of sorts after high school, but he's not sure what field to go into. He's considered being an ornithologist because he loves birds but also a pharmaceutical scientist, hydrologists, research physiologist, and, when he was younger, he thought about being a marine biologist. His passion in being a researcher led him to learn a lot of stuff online and that's why he has so much information.

His experimentation with drugs came from his initial desire to be a pharmaceutical scientist and curiosity on how chemicals can affect a body's function. He also wanted to see which drugs would enhance his academic performance the most, so he extensively researches on the drugs and how to safely use them before actually trying it on himself. It's also where he gets his extensive medical knowledge.

Donna used to be someone who wanted to make sure Usagi has a home cook meal and the family used to bond over cooking. However, since Robert's passing, Donna stopped cooking out of grief and Usagi can't bring himself to cook for similar reasons. He's mostly eaten takeout fast-food or quick meals like instant ramen since then. Donna is trying to get back into cooking meals again for Usagi's health but it's still a struggle.

Usagi doesn't know much about his dad's past but is interested in Robert's dadlore; Donna herself only knew so much. The bits and pieces of the lore Usagi knows is that Robert used to be close friends in high school with some guy name Dean. The two separated after a terrible fight but reconnected months before Robert passed away. Usagi knows it was this friend who helped his family receive the insurance payout but he doesn't know Dean's full name.

Usagi only knew Dean by the nickname Robert supposedly gave to him and the two had nicknames for each other; Robert was called "Fripp" and Dean was called "Belew". However, Usagi misheard these names and thought the nicknames were Pink and Blue.

Usagi vowed to be like Dean, someone who goes out of their way for others, and hopes to find his own Pink that he could help the way Dean did. What a coincidence that that Pink ended up being Dean's own child: Dragona.

Are you named after anyone? not really? My mom wanted to name me some other (primarily russian) name but my dad said "no we name her Victoria because it means victory and she will always win". idk if I'm always winning but that's a nice sentiment.

When was the last you cried? I am genuinely not a crier so I don't remember???

Do you have kids? nope.

What sports do you play/have you played? always have been a sporty kid. I used to do dancing with some mild acrobatics, then moved to basketball (until I got cut out of the team for being SHORT i hate my school for that) and then I started to play tennis. I am still playing, twice a week and it's really my favorite sport.

Do you use sarcasm? wish I wasn't

What is the first thing you notice about people? hm. in real life it's hair. online i guess it's the way they write out messages.

Favorite subject at school? my faves were PE (i was that Not Like The Other Girls kid trying to beat every boy in class), history, social sciences and English. By the last two years of school I have learned english (mostly with a tutor) to the level where my english teacher (who was the head teacher of our class) said that I could skip the actual classes, so I got to sleep in a lot ahaha. I lived very close to my school, could see it out of the window.

Dream job? Unfortunately I have not been able to find out.... maybe when I finally grow up or smth.

Malaya had made a doctor’s appointment for that coming Saturday to determine if she was pregnant. In the meantime, she tries not to dwell on it, and spends time with her girlfriend Casey, both of them having completed their finals and turned in the last papers and projects. They hang out by the family’s pool, and goof around in the water before Malaya paints for fun and Casey chats with her. “You look beautiful, Mal.” Casey says softly, and Malaya blushes. “Thanks Case, you too.” She says. "I just want you to know I respect whichever choice you make, but if you do keep the baby I want to raise them with you and maybe not now but eventually move into our own place and go from there." Casey says, and Malaya smiles, blinking back tears again. "I'd like that, Case. And yeah, I'm so unsure right now, but I'm so glad I have my moms, and Fin, and you." She says, and Casey smiles.

Malaya actually met Casey a few months ago during a group hangout and Malaya hadn’t been sure if Casey was the one for her at first. Sure, she thought Casey was gorgeous and liked talking with her, and they’d even gone to Newcrest Children’s Dance Academy as kids around the same time, with Malaya doing ballet and Casey having done ballroom dancing, but they were different. Malaya was so focused on becoming a principal dancer at her favorite ballet school, and working on her skills and improving her dancing. Casey was more chill and laid back and go with the flow, even by choosing a random major for college and taking classes to learn and have fun, which Malaya couldn’t figure out at first. But now, Malaya likes their relationship, and she feels like they balance each other out well. They're even attending Foxbury together from home, with Casey taking two courses online and one in person and Malaya commuting by bus to the campus three days and having two days free. Since Casey's in-person class is on Fridays, she usually comes to Malaya's house and stays Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning and heads back home to her dads apartment in San Myshuno for the other part of the week. It works well so they see each other a lot but also have some space.

“Turkish March -It’s Over- \(^o^)/” - Miku gets serious nerves when the group has to perform a concert for a very influential classical musician.

“A Song of Wastelands, Forests, and Magic” - After a few weeks of having no free time because of crimefighting, Miku becomes determined to make the class trip to the mountains a relaxing one, come hell or high water.

“ONLINE GAME ADDICTS SPRECHCHOR” - Rin, Len and Miku gets hooked on a new VR MMORPG game that’s hit the market, but they end up having to go inside the game itself when a mysterious virus starts holding players hostage inside the game.

“Panda Hero” - When Gumi’s school softball team starts falling behind, Gumi creates some robots to help them improve their game - except the robots go rogue and try to become the new softball team, causing her to enlist the Cryptons’ help in beating the machines.

“Ai Dee” - Miku and Luka get a chance to model for a popular fashion designer holding a show in town, Chika. However, Luka starts to notice something’s very off about Chika.

“Weekender Girl” - Miku tries every trick she can think of to get into a newly-opened club in town that doesn’t allow robots.

“Paris Cinema Girl” - A foreign exchange student named Kokone arrives on the scene and hires the Cryptons to star in a commercial for her family’s chocolate company. Meanwhile, hearing about Kokone’s upper-class status, Dex and Daina attempt to get involved.

“Nostalogic” - Miku stumbles upon a video disc in the basement of Meiko when she was a one-hit wonder teen idol. The kids then team up to convince Meiko to take the stage one more time.

“Happy Halloween” - The kids join the Kenmochi Investigation Club in a ghost hunt at the school for a supposed spirit haunting the gym.

“Dance Robot Dance” - The Crypton Crew take a trip to a robotics exhibit in town as part of Crypton’s showcase, but things go awry when Dialtone hijacks the headliner mech robot.

“Ohedo Julia Night” - The team gets a gig performing at the local obon festival, but Miku’s attempt to join the festivities before showtime becomes interrupted by Dex and Daina pulling a raid. Meanwhile, Gumi and Kokone wage battle for getting to see fireworks with Len.

“Dramaturgy” - Miku and friends visit a theater in town to learn more about musical theater and opera. Unfortunately, it becomes more of a showdown against their teacher’s snobby star student, Prima.

“Super Charge Macher” - Miku gets the opportunity to guest at a grand prix race that Rin and Len happen to be participating in, but ends up having to leap in when she realizes two rival racers are trying to run everyone off the track.

“Newly Edgy Idols” - Miku, Rin, and Luka participate as guest judges at a freelance idol contest, with the winner getting signed to a popular label. However, the girls quickly realize that the idols are acting unusually hostile to each other…

“Burenai Ai de” - Dialtone attempts to take over every screen in Sapporo with the help of some new tech during an important televised concert, causing Miku to go inside the infrastructure of Sapporo’s TV waves to save the day.

I think I know why I have trouble making close friends now. To me, friends come and goes like flowers bloom then dies out. They don't last very long.

I made friends with a kid in kindergarten cause he was the first to talk to me. Even when other kids demand I stop playing with him so that I can join their group, I denied. I then watch as we go primary school and he completely ignore me to play with the other boys. (1)

In primary, I met another boy who I sit next to. We would play in the bicycle parking and pretend we were in a large maze. Even when other kids kept saying weird stuff about us and calling us lover dove. I then move to the city and never meet him again. (2)

In the city, I made friends with the girl next door. We would pretend we were actual siblings and play pretend and dance all day long. One day I suggest that I should go first on a game and ask why she never go to my house to play, we argued and she never answer my call at her door again. (3)

After a couple of years, a new neighbor move in. They had twins and the kids would ride bicycle all over my front door, leaving dirty tire tracks then screams and laughs loudly. I tried to tell them off and make friends with them in the process. They ask me to meet them at an empty area near our house to play badminton and I agreed. When I arrive, they swarmed and beat me with their badminton rack. I grabbed my racket and swing as hard as I can against the side of one kid's head and ran away(my parents used to participate in badminton competitions for their company so they taught me and my brother how to play). They never come over to my house again. (5)

In the new primary school, I meet a girl who seems to always brighten up whenever she see me. She would always ask to walk with me after school. Then my birthday came and she didn't show up. The next day I go to school to ask her why and she said that she felt guilty and that the only reason she made friends with me is because she sees that I have allowance and use me to buy her things. She said that she was moved that I cared so much about her and that she won't do that again and ask to be my real friend. I agreed but could never see her in the same light again. Ultimately, I avoided her for the rest of the school year. (6)

The year after, I met a girl. A loud and bold one. She would make me do things that I don't like and say embarrassing things about me. It didn't last long as on the last day of primary school, she pushed me down the stairs. I ran up the stair into class and threw a small plastic chair in her face. (7)

In the same year, a girl approached me and ask me for help delivering food to school(her mother sells breakfast food and my house was close to her). I agreed. She then call on me everytime she needs something like needing to cheat on some tests, needing to wake up at 5am to help her make food and shove food into my backpack cause there weren't enough bags. Needing me to design a poster for her breakfast food place for free. I cut ties with her not too long after. (8)

Secondary school, the teacher separated the class into small groups and I met 2 girls. A bold one and a quiet one. The bold one would always ask me to help her cheat on tests and skip classes with her. She scammed me almost 117 USD by the end of secondary school(my entire saving plus lucky money from primary to secondary school). The quiet one was kind but would never do anything she deemed too bold. Like going out to eat even though I offed to pay for her. I would go to her house and we would then vibe over Fairy Tail and Genshin Impact. We're still somewhat friends but I don't know for how long. Eversince we went to uni(different school btw), we haven't talk that much. I see her on her tiktok and facebook page and she did a 180°. She's now bolder and so much happier than before. I'm afraid that I will just hold her back if I reconnect with her. (10)

At the same time, I met 2 person online. Person one would always gusts about my cartoony artstyle at the time and say that I am brave for showing my drawings instead of just drawing anime like everyone else. I know person 1 meant well but it just seems like an insult at the time. We did become close but then I get jealous because they made a public post about who inspired them to become a cartoonist. I was not one of the people they listed even though they would always say it was me in private chat. That ended up with me blowing up and saying bad things to them and blocking them off. Person 2, who was also a fan of my artstyle at the time, was caught in the crossfire and the moment they showed that they like a different artist, I blocked them. You two are not on this site but I would like to apologize for my actions. It just feels like gaslight whenever you two praise me.(12)

In highschool, I meet a girl who is more like me than I thought. She's an artist, loves games and anime and somewhat socially awkward. That is until I found out that I'm depressed and try to keep a distance between us so I don't repeat my mistake like with person 1 and 2. (13)

I have been keeping friends at an arm's length eversince. I haven't try to make friends now that I'm in uni, even though this is the most important time to make connections. It's all going down hill from here. I have been more and more depressed to the point the praise "Die" or "kms" have become normal everyday talk.

Types of People: Board Games 

Monopoly- wears velvet suits to prom and top hats as a joke but loves it unironically, listens to opera, drives downtown late at night and listens to people while they talk, has seventeen credit cards and yet always manages to get out of jail free, eats at fast food restaurants but only on Tuesdays when they forget to make reservations, sleeps in a four poster bed and having a radio collection, wears shoes, smiles like they robbed a bank when they see someone they love, wears simple and elegant jewelry and is the best tour guide in all of town especially when it comes to the places you can’t afford. 

Chutes and Ladders- random calls at three am, car rides through haunted corn fields, maybe eats rotisserie chicken at the back of math class, likes to have painted nails but they’re always chewed down to the quick, swimming at the local pool and playing mermaids with the random kids whose parents are busy chatting, simultaneously trying to save the world and just have fun while they can, fun sock patterns, plays too much on their phone, they take people for granted and miss them too much when they’re gone.

Clue- long hair that gets frizzy in the rain, sharp angles and floaty scarves, threatens to kill people as a joke but their eyes tell you maybe they mean it more than they’d let on, cracked lips from the cold and Vaseline in lil dollar tree pill bottles, plays Barbies with kids and makes the drama way too intense, watches the moon more than they watch the sun because they know that night is the best time for mysterious creatures to come out, is a sweet person but only until you lose their trust, nothing is as it seems because with them, you never know exactly where to look. 

Guess Who- seems to try and be a lot of different people at once without ever losing themselves at the core, likes to cut their sandwich crusts off and feed them to the birds, wears clothes a size too big or three sizes too small because while they’re pretending they know what they want, they’re still trying to find what’s worth having, they eat skittles like it’ll solve world hunger, empty red booths at 50’s diners because they’d rather be dancing with a stranger than sitting with the people most important to them, a person of many hats and accessories, may wear wigs or glasses, everything’s up in the air with them and while you’re not exactly comfortable with that, you know they’re steadier than they seem at first. 

Russian Roulette - loves winter holidays, likes spending time with family and friends, yells at you when you’re doing stupid stuff because they want you to be safe, kicks over trash cans when mad or in love or mad because they’re in love, shops at thrift stores but only when buying lamps and dolls, has a million things to say but they don’t always match the situation, can end up sounding out of place but when they time their jokes right is one of the most hilarious people you know, collects quotes and runs of out of storage space on their phone, plays word games with people online, you know there’s a lot going on in their lives just by looking at them and that makes you want to be their friend. 

Trivial Pursuit- puts their academic awards up in their room and likes to explain what they’re all for, has shoes lined up neatly in their closet and when one gets misplaced they search high and low before returning it to its home safely, likes to read poetry in graveyards but sometimes watches Netflix all weekend instead, has busy fingers always clicking away on a keyboard or against their desk, handwritten notes and post it stickers all over their fridge, late night walks, over coffee and biscuit talks, drinks tea and watches the sunrise while plotting how to make people feel intimidated that day. 

The Game of Life- is younger than you but seems older, hates driving in the rain, always has new friends, new jobs, either loves kids or wants to stay as far away from them as possible, carries around insurance information in case of disaster, dresses like their father/mother, likes drama films and foreign book, traveling, making huge decisions in the spur of the moment, regretting things but wanting to move on, buying too many paper towels for the weekend and throwing parties while they’re parents are away in hopes of making an impression be it positive or negative. 

Jenga- unbalanced but always grinning, means well but makes a mess of things, crookedly learning how to play the piano because they want to be part of the high rise apartment world, wears long dresses at night time and sips Diet Pepsi from champagne glasses, stares at cars while they go by and wishes they had somewhere to go, jumps into conversations too soon or misses the hint and leaves too late, honestly a sweetheart but doesn’t get invited to a lot of places because everyone’s scared they’ll break a bone, fun to around, has a bit of a temper but keeps it in check until the end of the day, loves to make cakes but burns their fingers on the pan. 

Catan- bighearted gestures, loves travel sized snacks and toiletries, always on the road, makes new friends easily but loses them just as soon if they aren’t careful, wants to leave a mark on the world but isn’t sure how, joins a lot of clubs and goes to protests every other weekend, wants to rule the world but in a subtle way where they can be in charge and still hang out with their friends on the weekend, has a cat and a horse and probably an imaginary pet owl somewhere in the mix, is magical and down to earth all at the same time.
