47 - How easily does your OC forgive?

(taralin was particularly mean in this one, they 95% of the time don't actually think of the party like this. i think they're just grumpy and unhappy about aisling)

Forgiveness sits heavily on their shoulders, it's something they should do more. Judgement has always rested behind their teeth, consternation ready to be spat at a moments notice. They're harsh in it, reveling where they shouldn't. It's far too easy to dip into that place of scorn and linger there.

It's not like they are any different with themselves though, often they recognise being much harsher on their own actions, their own foolishness. It's easier to sit there than move on. Motivating, is what they call it. Not that it makes them more likely to change. It's far, far too easy to wallow in that anger, that disgust. To stare at their bloody hands and think of improbable consequences.

No, their hypocrisy rests on their friends. That implies that it's their fault, which, Taralin thinks, is unfair. No, the fault still remains on their shoulders. Their friends' flaws are always so easy to forgive, because Taralin can see where they're coming from. Things that would make the old Taralin leave in an instant, have new Taralin begging at their heels. Like a dog kicked too many times, but starved of any other comfort. It's not a kind comparison, and probably not a fair one either, but their grovelling is pitiful. They know why they do it, of course, they trust the group, they care. It hurts, though. Sometimes. They still consider leaving, on the rough days. The bad ones. The good ones, they're happy, mostly. As happy as they think they can be, considering.

50 - What secrets does your OC have?

Secrets, Taralin thinks, are the essence of fae. They have many, of course. No one survives being a warlock without, let alone a vassal, but underneath it all they just want to rest.

There are so many. Aiden's death lies heavily on their shoulders, murmured to only three. Ester, of course, knows everything, then Amaurea and Khajimel, learning when they arrived in Freehome. It's an aching secret, one that begs to be heard and understood. It lingers between their fingers, up their wrists and into their shoulders, tensing them as it whispers. They desperately want someone to hold them, let them grieve openly, and tell them that they did what was needed.

Some secrets are softer -- like folding a pinch of sugar into the dough for cinnamon rolls as a child, or hiding dandelions underneath their parent's bed. The last one got them scooped into Khajimel's arms and swung around the kitchen while they giggled. It was a sweet secret, like the smell of fresh linen and grass drying in the sun. Amaurëa watched with a fond smile. They had to only be five then, Amaurëa back between ventures.

The big secrets, though, bigger than Aiden, even, are sharp, and harsh. The ones that whisper in their ears, and tear at their feathers like thorns. The ones that slip between their teeth like ash, and wind into their lungs until all Taralin can breathe is rotten. Those, they dare not speak aloud. Those, they shall take to their grave.

63 - How does your OC display love?

When Aiden asked to court them, Taralin began to embroider a ribbon. He wore it around his wrist for months after they gave it to him. It was left with his body, too bloody for Taralin to take.

For Ester, it is a scarf. They're better at embroidery, and being along on watch gives them time to sew love into the silk with every stitch. It takes longer than the ribbon, partially because they're quiet about it, slipping away to sit in daylight while their companions remain nocturnal. It's easier to embroider, in the light, and the gold of the sun catches the blue silk in such a lovely way. (They decidedly don't think about how it will look wrapped around Ester's shoulders, or tied to her waist.) Fine flowers decorate the edges, in the end, in shimmering gold thread, and the center becomes a moon.

With the party, Taralin finds themself checking entrances and exits, guiding rough conversations, making quiet threats. It takes a while to pick why they feel the need to do it, but eventually it hits. Whatever it might mean, Taralin has chosen them as friends, as family, even. Family takes care of family. So they do what they can. Give Gex information and help him write things down. Guide Kit through town, sing softly along side him, voice growing steadier with each song. Kadana gets their silent support, steady as they see in her. Torvold, their tired guidance, as much as he didn't want to accept it.

Fitting the gnolls into this, was almost too easy. Mediation is rough, of course, policing issues, stepping in when those outside the clan are too set in their ways. It's Aisling's actions that make Taralin realise why. The clan are theirs, their responsibility, sure, but theirs in a way they cannot truly put words to. Murgg has slipped into the fragile place inside their chest, alongside the party, Ester, Aiden, their parents, and the clan have slipped in with her.

In seasons 1 and 2 of Juno Steel, there's been a recurring theme of neither Juno nor the main villain (however you decide that) getting what they want: Miasma doesn't get her solitude & Juno doesn't get s1 happiness; Perrea doesn't get their Freehome, Ramses doesn't get to be right, and Juno doesn't get closure\support in relationships. I am very afraid for what this means for season 3: the "villain" may not be Dark Matters like I thought\has been presented, and I'm not sure what Juno's episodes will hold

Some excellent thoughts, especially about that pattern. 

I’m gonna bounce it back at you, though: in that pattern, the villain mostly succeeds before that victory is pulled out of their hands. Miasma does get to be full Martian like she wanted, and she does get to set off her bomb-- unfortunately, she’s in the room at the time. Ramses and the THEIA get to make that beautiful flawless NewTown, right before Rita and Juno send it crashing down. 

I do think that we’re a bit late in the season to bring in a new villain, so my money says that the arc villain probably will be Dark Matters (though it is possible that Peter and/or his creditor will usurp that title).

Which makes me think that DM/Mr. ____ will swoop in and claim the four relics and the Curemother Prime, after which our crew will wrestle it back at the last minute.

But all this time Juno’s been really struggling with trust and vulnerability, especially after what happened with Ramses. Finding out that Peter’s been lying to him and plotting against his new family for a solid year, after all the times Juno’s risked his relationship with the others to defend him-- that’s going to hurt him bad.
