Rundown of the current protests, rioting and state crackdown that have erupted in France over the police murder of a 17 year old brown boy.
I've seen way too many Europeans on here insisting ACAB is just a USAmerican thing. It's really important y'all know that it isn't. Cops as an institution is fundamentally fascist, and in the Global North, white supremacist.

Americans: * watching the French riot in the street because the government raised the age of retirement with a homemade catapult*
Americans: Why can’t we protect at like that?
BIPOC: That literally happened in 2020, after the televised death of George Floyd. BLM? You know… that group you called ( let’s be honest a lot of y’all still do) thugs? They were met with police in riot gear and tanks.

Here we go again with the “I wish Americans protested like the French” shit again.
I don’t know if some of y’all have memory loss but we did protest “like the French” in 2020 (George Floyd Protests) and got shit on and called thugs by the public, the media and politicians. People were seriously injured by police and other random people who wanted to be violent. We were told that peoples property was worth more than justice for a wrongfully taken like. So don’t bring that shit over here. Y’all just like the idea and look of protest but let it inconvenience or the message calls you out then then it’s not the right way to protest.
Just say what you really mean with your chest.

French Unions came together in protest. They cut power to their billionaires and gave it for free to people who need it.
Unions work. That's why there is so much propaganda trying to convince you otherwise.

as you probably know, france is going through a period of violent protests. here is a probably better explained version of why it’s happening than whatever i can come up with.
to make it short, the French government forced a law to make the age of retirement at 64. since 2017, the macron government passed a lot of laws destined to break the social system that we have (even if flawed).
this retirement law is extremely unpopular, and had been forced by the 49.3 article (i think the US equivalent is executive order). this means that the assembly couldn’t vote it. the voting attempt to dissolve the assembly and kill the law in the egg didn’t work out. it missed 9 votes in favor of the dissolution.
people have been protesting outside for weeks. the government doesn’t care, and police brutality is rising exponentially. the prime minister thanked the police yesterday as a lot of protesters are put in custody for nothing. they put in custody innocent people, even tourist kids. people lost limbs too.
what is happening is borderline unconstitutional, and amnesty condemned the French police brutality.
what can we do? as the protesters outside sacrifice their work days to fight against the government, money is getting scarce.
to help the protesters and to help them continue to protest, strike funds have been created.
even a dollar will help them fight the government, so if you can, please donate or share. our lives are on the line.
Caisse de solidarité
this is the link to the strike funds. to donate, click on "faire un don en ligne"

then you can choose "PayPal" for international folks.

France sucks (neocolonialism in West Africa, anybody?). But the French are great. They don’t take shit from their government.
The French are protesting harder for a 2 year increase in retirement age than my country does when our democracy is under immediate threat.

BRITAIN BEING AN AUTHORITARIAN POLICE STATE YET A-FUCKIN-GAIN
https://www.versobooks.com/en-gb/blogs/news/joint-press-release-by-editions-la-fabrique-paris-and-verso-books-london
So incase you haven’t heard, yesterday French citizen and radical leftist Ernest Moret, foreign rights manager for the French publisher Editions La Fabrique as well as science fiction author Alain Damasio were arrested in England on their way to the London Book Fair. They were taken aside by police under Schedule 7 of the UK’s terrorism act of 2000 (this act basically allows a pig to stop and question anyone entering or leaving the UK).  The reason given was that Ernest Moret had participated in France’s recent protests. He was not allowed not allowed to speak with a lawyer, was detained and allegedly demanded to give up his phone and passcodes. He has now been officially arrested and tranferred to a police station for the olden goldie of “Obstruction”! Remember, just because the british pigs can’t shoot you, doesn’t mean they aren’t also the absolute worst ever and will do everything to protect the interests of the status quo, including the arrest of a man expected to meet the FRENCH AMBASSADOR in london.

Long story short, our presidemperor Macron I the Detestable made a speech live on broadcast television and a vast number of French cities hosted a frying pan & casserole concert outside of town halls which would last for the entire duration of said televised allocution.
In case anyone was wondering, the Presidumb spoke of 'appeasement' and of moving on from this difficult period, so even more people took to the streets to burn things—we're on Day Three now and I don't believe anyone is feeling particularly appeased.
In an unfortunate move, some communication genius suggested that Macron made a big announcement of 'a hundred days' to 'rebuild the country together' (or somesuch silly platitude) and conclude this whole affair with the pension system; apparently, a bunch of French citizens still happen to know their Revolutionary history a bit, since some have made peculiarly snide comments about the last time one of our monarchs did a Hundred Days thing.
I mean, if he's giving us instructions now...
