It took you until senior year to realize you had feelings for Eddie Munson.
Starting at Hawkin’s as the new kid halfway through junior year made you somewhat of an outcast. You never really found a group of your own. You often sat alone at lunch and roamed the halls by yourself with headphones in.
It wasn’t until Eddie approached you one day that you found an amazing circle of friends.
He had been trying to get more people to join Hellfire, but it was proving difficult. He had spotted you digging through your locker, headphones in, bag slouched over your shoulder, and your hair a right mess. You had not been feeling school the past few weeks. It had been rough being alone.
“Hey,” he called to you. You hadn’t heard him so he waved his hand in front of you, making you jump. You looked up at him from your locker and took your headphones off and let them rest around your neck.
“What?” You asked somewhat aggressively.
“Hey, hey, I’m not here to steal your lunch money,” he teased, putting his hands up in surrender. When that didn’t even get a smirk out of you, he continued on, “Okay… Anyways… want to join an epic club full of fantasy, battles, unrequited love, and angry name calling?”
His energy level was way too high for 9 in the morning. You stared at him blankly, “Wha… This is a club?”
He leaned against the lockers and fiddled with his rings. “I might have led on a little strong. It’s a DnD club. We’re short a member for our next campaign.”
“Why do you want me to join?”
His lips pursed as he blatantly tried to think of a reason beyond you being someone that he had yet to ask and so far everyone else has shut him down—he was running out of options.
“No one else will join, huh?” You asked before he could rattle off some stupid lie. You actually smirked at this, finding this whole interaction confusing and amusing. Eddie had trouble reading you, so he slowly nodded his head, tentative about where this was heading.
“Okay.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Okay, what?”
“Okay, I’ll join your dweeby club.”
He feigned hurt as his hand came up and gripped his heart. “I’ll have you know, only the most chivalrous and righteous students are allowed to join the club!”
“Mhm.” You rolled your eyes at him.
He smiled, appreciating how you managed to match his energy while still appearing indifferent and disinterested.
“We meet when the sun braces it’s heart for the moon to stampede over—“
“Just tell me an actual time.”
He grinned, observing your stoic expression for a moment before answering you. “Three.”
“Alright. I’ll see you then for the promised angry name-calling.”
He smirked as he watched you walk away.
That was towards the end of junior year and you soon blossomed into a friendly relationship with Eddie and his friends. You didn’t see him much over the summer, so when school started again in September, you were surprised at how long his hair got.
He spotted you in the parking lot and hopped over to you, draping an arm around your shoulder. “Where have you been hiding all summer? Your parents finally let you live out your reclusive life in a hobbit hole?”
You rolled your eyes, looking up at him as you walked. “I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I actually missed your annoying voice.”
He pulled away from you and began to walk like a victorious king. “My life’s mission is complete, I’ve finally gotten you to say something nice to me.” He jumped in front of you and began to walk backwards as he spoke. “Are you starting to actually like me?” He gasped.
You noticed the way his arms seemed more toned and his stature was slightly larger. His hair had grown and he seemed to have let his stubble grow in ever so slightly. You felt your breath get hitched in your throat as you realized how attractive Eddie really was.
“Yeah, yeah,” you played, smiling at him.
A few weeks had passed and you found yourself getting nervous around Eddie. What was happening to you? Suddenly the way he spoke gave you chills instead of annoying you and when he would drape his arms around you, it made your skin burn. Were you seriously falling for him?
You tried to shove these feelings down, you couldn’t ruin the best friendship you’d formed in years. You saw the type of girls Eddie liked, and it certainly wasn’t you. You wouldn’t let this ruin your friendship with him.
It was late and you sat in front of a table, cards, and dice sprawled out on it as you played DnD as a group. After almost two hours, people began to leave. You and Eddie had ended up staying, both of you wanting to work out a way to win the campaign.
“See you guys tomorrow.” One of your friends waved as he left. It was just you and Eddie now, sat in the dark room, looming over the game board. You began arguing about the game, rolling your eyes at him as you always did. He was so fucking cocky, it drove you mad. He wouldn’t admit that he was wrong and you were right with the strategy you should take.
“Fuck you,” you cursed at him, reaching down to grab your bag. You would certainly get a migraine if you stayed any longer to fight with Eddie.
Seeing the genuine frustration on your face, he wanted to bring you both back to reality, so he made a joke. “I mean, you could if you wanted.”
You looked up at him and he was wiggling his eyebrows. The way the light cast harsh shadows along his face made your heart pound. It only made him more attractive. Normally, you’d spit back a sarcastic remark, but looking up to meet his gaze had caught you off guard. After not saying anything back, you felt a blush creep up on your cheeks.
Eddie noticed your sudden flustered face and felt his own cheeks heat up. He cleared his throat, looking back down at the board and shoving the dice into a small bag.
You set your backpack down on the chair next to you, your anger from earlier washing away, and you started to help him clean up. In the silence, he began to hum. What was it? A Stone’s song maybe. It made you smile.
God, what was this boy doing to you?
You watched him shimmy around as he cleaned up, shoving things messily into a cardboard box that held all your pieces.
He could feel you watching him and he looked up. “Like what you see?” He teased.
You did, actually. You looked down to push the chairs into the table. “So, what if I did?” Your voice was quiet, making it pretty blatant that you weren’t entirely joking.
You realized your mistake and tried to laugh it off as you edged closer to him, tucking the remaining chairs into the table. When you looked up, Eddie was just staring at you. Your laugh died as you looked back into his eyes. Your hands gripped the table in front of you, his hands dangerously close to yours. As if you both could sense the close proximity of your fingers, you simultaneously looked down. His fingers ever so slightly edged closer to yours, just barely brushing your own. You felt your breath stop in your throat as you nervously looked up at him. His own heart was pounding loudly in his ears as he looked into your shadowed eyes.
In a sudden burst of movement, Eddie stepped into you, his hand grabbing your cheek. You stumbled back against the table, your hands catching you as Eddie almost pressed himself completely against you. You could hear yourself breathing loudly as Eddie’s face hovered only inches from yours. “Can I—?” He started to ask,  breathlessly.
You nodded your head, probably a bit too eagerly, and he wasted no time crashing his lips onto yours. His free hand found your hip and he pulled you towards him so your bodies lay flat against one another. Your hands gripped his shirt, trying to steady yourself, Eddie’s towering body pushed into you making you lose your balance. You whispered his name into the kiss, causing him to pull away. His eyes searched yours. Neither of you said a word, but for once, Eddie could read you. Your walls had been ripped down, your emotions laid bare on your face. He could see the way you looked at him with intense lust. And he looked at you with so much pent-up feelings; he had liked you since your first encounter. You hadn’t left his mind since that day.
His lips were back on yours and you heard him groan into the kiss. You felt a tingle slide up your thighs in response. Eddie gripped your hips with both his hands and sat you up on the table. Your legs opened so he could get close to you again, your lips never breaking.
Your hands squeezed his shirt, then roamed his chest, feeling his tone torso under his Hellfire shirt. Eddie’s own hands were placed on either side of your face, pulling you into him. One of his hands slid around to the back of your head, his fingers getting tangled in your hair. The kiss was hungry and sloppy, both of you not able to touch one another quite enough.
His fingers slid down your body now, resting at the hem of your shirt. He broke the kiss slightly to look at you, silently asking permission to take this further and tear your shirt off. You lifted up your arms in response and Eddie gave you a devious grin.
His eyes traced along your chest, the dim lighting creating intoxicating shadows and highlights along your curves.
You saw him gulp as his hands reached out and squeezed your breasts. You felt your eyes flutter as he did, which only turned him on more. You could see the tent in his pants and you desperately wanted to help him with that.
You tugged at Eddie’s shirt and his hands reluctantly came away from their spot on your chest to rip his own shirt off, flinging it off to the side. You almost licked your lips as you eyed his tattooed chest.
He was back in between your legs, kissing your neck. You pulled your bra straps down and his hand sneaked up your back and unclipped it. His lips quickly came down to your exposed chest and gently sucked at one of your nipples. Your head flew back and you thought about how insane all this was. You had so much desire building up for Eddie, a desire you never thought would be returned; so when you both saw it in one another, you had no time to take things slow. Maybe you both were a bit nervous the other would realize their mistake and change their mind, so if you just kept pulling at one another, maybe you’d stay, and maybe he’d want you back.
He released your nipple and left it glistening. Your hands began to fiddle with his belt and he helped, pushing his tight jeans off.
You grabbed the waistband of his boxers, his stance between your legs not budging. “Eddie, I want to—“ Your voice was much softer than usual, Eddie really liked it. He understood that you were asking him to move so you could get down on your knees and take him in your mouth. And, yes, that sounded heavenly, but Eddie had other plans for this moment.
“No. I…” His eyes traced your frame, up to your swollen lips. “I want to be inside you... Can I…?”
You gulped and nodded your head. He quickly tore your shorts off your legs, your underwear sliding off with them. He needily kissed you again, grinding his hips against yours. You felt his hard length against your lower stomach as he did. He pushed down his boxers, unable to bother pulling them off completely and lined himself up with you. His forehead rested against yours as he looked down, his hand guiding his tip that was already soaked in precum against your entrance.
His eyes glanced at your own, making sure you still wanted this. You were practically begging him. Finally, he painfully slowly pushed himself inside you. You gasped in unison. When you took him in completely you were shocked at how big he was. He let you adjust to his size before you whined. He felt his heart flip at your need. He began to move in and out of you, going slow and gentle. He grunted in your ear as his hands grabbed your hips and pulled you closer to the edge of the table so he could get a better angle. Your hands clawed at his tanned back, stifling moans against his shoulder.
“Please,” he painted. “Let me hear you.” His voice was shaky and barely above a whisper, his hot breath tickling your ear. When he began to pick up speed, you let a moan pool off your lips. Eddie looked at you, his pupils blown, and kissed you, swallowing the noises you kept making.
His weight on you pushed you back so you were laying on top of your game board, his arm holding him above you on the table. Your hands snaked down to his lower back and pulled him towards you, wanting him to hit you harder. So he did. His thrusts were deep and strong now, the table’s legs dragging against the floor with each pump.
You weren’t used to Eddie not talking for this long, which surprised you. You thought he’d be more vocal. And Eddie would have, except for the fact that he was so focused on you and being inside you, this entire line of events leaving him stumped and shocked. His brain was mush as you filled his every sense, he couldn’t form real sentences even if he wanted to.
His head collapsed into your neck, your hair ticking his nose, and his moans coming out much louder now. You could tell he was getting close.
“Fuck,” he dragged out when you bucked your hips up to meet his.
His hand came up to the side of your face as he slid in and out of you. “God—Fuck—Jesus Christ—“ he blabbered aimlessly into your ear, his words muffled. You mewled in response, bucking your hips up again, allowing him to hit you as deep as possible. “Eddie,” you shallowly breathed.
Your eyes were squeezed shut as he began to thrust in unsteady and chaotic beats. Your voice was enough to push him over the edge. You let out a rather loud moan involuntarily when his hand began to move against your clit. That finished him. Eddie growled lowly against you as he came inside. His thrusts were erratic and messy as he continued to pump his seed inside you. His fingers never stopped moving against your clit, your walls tightening around his cock as you began to orgasm. He groaned as he felt you twitch and squeeze around his cock, dragging his high out as he emptied himself in several more messy thrusts. Your nails had dug into Eddie’s back, sure to leave red marks. As Eddie slowed, your shaking legs began to calm. He stopped rubbing you as your orgasm floated into hazy ecstasy in your body.
His weight was heavy on top of you as you both laid there out of breath. You could feel liquid pool out of you and down your thigh. Eddie looked up at you, his face bright red and forehead sweaty, smirking his stupid smirk at you.
“Shut up,” you said, giving his chest a push so he’d get off of you. He leaned in closer and you felt yourself go shy again. He placed a kiss on your pouting lips before sliding out of you and standing up.
He extended his hand and helped pull you up and off the table. You turned around to look at the mess you had both just made.
“We should definitely do that again.” His voice was back to its self-assured tone. You turned around, shielding your body from his eyes as you picked your clothes up off the ground.
“You should be so lucky,” you teased.
He smiled as he watched you, suddenly shy as he glazed over your exposed body.
“Shit. Where’s my shirt?” You cursed. God, the lighting in there sucked.
A soft material collided with your back and you turned to catch it. It was Eddie’s Hellfire shirt.
You couldn’t help but blush as you slid it on over your head, it smelt like his cologne.
When you two were dressed, you walked out with his arm draped around you—but it felt different this time.
“Won’t you be cold?” You asked, referring to his shirtless torso.
“Not if you keep me warm.” That earned an eye roll from you. How many have you done that tonight?
As you walked out of the club room, Eddie laughed. “That’s gonna be a hard one to explain tomorrow when someone inevitably finds your shirt.”

Steve, Robin and Eddie, walk through the Harrington's front door, bags of food in their arms for tonight's festivities. It's October and it's Friday the 13th. They've been talking about it all week, now that Eddie works at the Family Video with them some days, when he doesn't have band practice or DnD. Not only did they grab the first Friday the 13th, but the next three as well, keeping them hidden in the back so they'd have their copies ready when all the others inevitably got rented out the next few days. Now Friday was here, and the only thing they were going to do was veg out and enjoy the horror to come.
As they make their way further in, all three are hit with the very intense smell of fake lemon Lysol cleaner. Both Robin and Eddie wrinkle their nose, but Steve seems unphased.
"Uhh, Harrington? Wanna explain why it smells like the inside of cleaning bottle in here?" Eddie sets the bags of food down, going through them to find whatever stuff needs to go into the freezer. Steve's working on preheating the oven.
"Oh, our cleaning lady who usually comes Wednesday's couldn't this week, so she came today," the nineteen year old shrugs, obviously used to the manufactured smell.
"Well, it smells gross, and she should use like eighty percent less next time," Robin adds, setting the VHS tapes down over near the Harrington's large television, at least, the largest most of them have seen in someone's living room.
Eddie loves teasing Steve as much as he can about it, and really about anything he can, in hopes of catching one of those signature Harrington smiles. Every time he gets one, it makes him feel a little bit lighter, like the world almost ending was worth it to have met Steve and actually get to know him. He'd thought he was a mindless jock back when they'd gone to school together, but he was still a hot mindless job. And now they're....friends? He hopes Steve considers him a friend, after all they'd done together.
Eddie rubs at his nose with the crook of his finger, a vague, barely there buzzing in sinuses as he shrugs his vest and leather jacket off, revealing an old long sleeve black shirt. It's worn, soft, and usually reserved for sleeping, but watching movies is close enough since they'll all be sitting and enjoying for over five hours.
As they all talk and joke around, Eddie watches Harrington, who looks like a natural as he pulls out Totino's pizza rolls from the oven, a whole large bags worth sizzling on the tray. Eddie wonders if they should have bought more, but then he remembers they still have chips and cookies and candy and soda. He sees the small box of Honeycomb that he'd grabbed for himself after much deliberation and grins, knowing the whole box will be gone by tomorrow.
"I don't see how you eat those things Munson, they're literally just sugar."
Looking up, the guitarist sees Harrington snarking at him, so he sends him his most flirtatious smile.
"You are what you eat I guess," he winks and then smirks when Harrington's cheeks go red.
It's no big secret that Eddie likes guys and girls, and he's been beyond grateful everyone here seems pretty chill with out. Robin had even come out to him earlier in the month, and he's made sure not to talk to anyone else about it, not when she seemed so worried.
As he watches Harrington try to come up with a reply, Eddie can feel an itch start to unfurl in his head and sinuses. Sniffling does the exact opposite of what he's been hoping, and the intense lemon-y smell hits him full force. He tries to follow along with whatever snarky comment Harrington finally shoots back at him, but the ticklish feeling is cresting, making his eyes want to close. Quickly, he brings his left arm up, nestling his face into the crook of it.
"n'GKt! h'GKkt! h'NKt-uhhh!" He keeps his face buried the whole time, even though there's a few seconds in between each sneeze. The last one is hard enough that he lets out a thick sigh after. He's always sneezed in triples, for as long as he can remember. His parents would bless him the first time, but by the third time there was usually a 'shut up' or 'can you stop' thrown into the mix. Not his fault his nose takes more time.
Dropping his arm, Eddie sniffles again and takes the bandana he has in his back pocket, rubbing his nose gently with it before sticking it back in its place. He doesn't notice Harrington staring at him while he does so, but once he's bringing his head back up, the other man gives him a sort of smile.
"Bless you."
"Oh, thanks," Eddie nods and heads to the sink to wash his hands before making himself a plate of pizza rolls and Doritos.
+ + +
Steve and Eddie sit next to each other. Well...Steve sits down, Robin sits on one side and after he looks around for a moment, Eddie choses to sit on the other side of Steve, for which the middle man is half excited and half nervous. Never in a million years would he have ever thought he'd be attracted to Eddie Munson, yet here he was, his stomach full of butterflies as the curly haired man sits next to him. Steve can smell his cologne and it's intoxicating to say the least.
He's embarrassed to say he's always thought Munson was kind of...dirty and grungy, even if back in classes he'd never talked to him or paid him much attention. Now though, now he sees just how nice and white his teeth are, how good his skin is, how soft his curls look. He always smells good, and for the most part his clothes are always clean. Even when Steve had worn his vest back months ago, it had smelled good even after being out in the woods for god knows how long.
As the movie starts, it's silent aside from the movie and everyone eating. No one talks, mostly focused on the food. Five minutes in, however, Steve picks up on a few soft sniffles coming from his left. And god, if Munson sneezes again, next to him, he might combust. Sure he finds sneezes hot, that's just...a thing he's always known. Nancy's sneezes had been surprisingly not dainty like he'd imagined, but they suited her and were definitely cute. But Munson's sneezes...he's never paid attention to stifled sneezes much, at least, not until twenty minutes ago. Something about it just...wow.
The sniffles don't get loud by any means, but they don't stop either. Steve's pretty sure his whole body is thrumming with some kind of weird energy, half watching the movie and half listening to Eddie. Finally decided to chance a glance at the guitarist, he notices he's sitting with his legs drawn to his chest, arms resting on them in a way that doesn't look super comfortable, but hey, to each their own. What really catches his eye though, is the way Eddie's nose is scrunched up, like he's trying not to sneeze. He gives another sniffle, this time rubbing his wrist that's hidden under his soft looking shirt against the underside of his nose.
Not able to look away, Steve's heart starts beating hard, watching the way Eddie's nostrils twitch and he rubs at them again. It's like watching someone lose a game- they twitch again, and then finally his eyebrows knit together, and his eyes flutter shut, showing off his long eyelashes. With one more twitch of his nose, Eddie inhales, his chest expands, and his arm is brought up against his face again.
"h'kGktt'uh! hh-gkXT! hih'KXxt'uh!"
A sniffle and then Steve watches him rub his face into his arm, quickly turning back to stare at the television the second he sees the arm move back down. He decides not to bless him this time- he has a feeling Eddie cares more about horror movies than a simple gesture.
Shifting, Steve moves enough that he can see the screen, but also can easily see Eddie and his movements without being obvious, or at least, he hopes to god he isn't. How awkward of a conversation would that be. He thinks maybe he'd rather get eaten by a demodog. Not three minutes later Eddies scrubbing at his nose with his knuckles, his shirt sleeve pulled up over his hand, his fingers only barely visible. He looks ridiculously cozy. Steve kind of wanders if he's a good cuddler, he looks like he would be. Lost in his thoughts about cuddling Munson, Steve doesn't realize anything's happening until-
"nkGxtt! h'dKGt! ihgKT'uhh!"
Steve's not sure if it's just his imagination or if the sneezes sound stuffier, but the sniffle after definitely confirms he's congested. It's thick and soupy and before Steve can do anything, Eddie's snagging his bandana from his back pocket and pressing it tightly to his face.
"h'GKt! hih'gKtuh! ihh'KTsch'uhew! Fuck..."
His insides are melting, he's sure of it. He can already feel his pants getting tight, and his palms are sweaty. The fact it's all happening beside him too, it's making him jittery. He wants to ask if he's okay, wants to ask if he can help. Hell, he wants to ask if he can jump him, but instead he misses his opportunity.
"Are you okay?" Robin beats him to it.
Eddie looks up, big brown doe eyes meeting hers and then flickering to Steve's. He's still holding his bandana, but it's resting against his lap for now. Steve notices that his nostrils are still twitching in allergic anticipation, and if he really zero's in, he can vaguely see a light sheen on his cupids bow. Eddie blinks and his hand that's not holding his bandana comes up and rubs at his eyes, making him look far younger than he is.
"Y-Yeah, sohhmethings...just," he sniffles but this time it's more desperate. "Just gehhttihng to me..." His eyes are fluttering and his nostrils are twitching like crazy, quivering and obviously itchy. Steve shifts, trying not to just blatantly stare, if only for Robin's sake.
"hih'Ktschh! ihh'gTCH'uh! h'kgt'uh!"
"Dude, do you w-"
"Nohht done H-Harri'gton...h'GKkt! Jesus Chrihhst..n'gXKTuhew! hihdKXtch! hah'KSTCHuhew!!"
As soon as the small fit ends, Eddie blows his nose roughly into his bandana, rubbing his nose over and over. Steve bites his tongue almost hard enough to draw blood so he doesn't let out any other noises.
"You want some benadryl? My parents keep some in the cabinet, I think it'll help. Do you know what's bothering you?" Steve finally manages to come up with words while Eddie scrubs his face with the neck of his shirt.
"Uhh, sure. N-Not suhhre, think mahhybe the cleaner?" Eddie sniffles and rubs a little harder. Steve nods and gets up, going to find the pills. As he walks, he tries to think of things like his parents, or showing up to class naked, anything to help get him to calm down. He comes back with water and two pills, then freezes. Eddie is looking at Robin with a curious expression, eyebrow raised. Robin is half blushing.
"-n't know that was a thihhng- kTSCH! hih'GXKtt! h'ixschh'EW!"
The last sneeze is louder and surprisingly...girly? And Steve squirms again. Then he notices Robin looking even more weird and Eddie smirking. And...oh. OH. Is this a joke? Some kind of new hell? But then again, he and Robin could always have fun with it...but. Really?!
Steve thrusts the pills into Eddie's hands and then mumbles something about going to the bathroom, needing a minute to himself.

Do you know how to play dnd? I've been curious how it's done. isnt it like an rpg boardgame conglomerate?
Yes I do!! I’ve been playing Dnd for a few years now, and have been in 5 campaigns (currently in 2 right now). Now, theres a few ways you can play depending on which edition and what the theme of game is, but I’m just gonna explain the basics of 5e (5th edition) and stick to a fantasy setting.
READ MORE BC THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG POST!
Dungeons and Dragons is a role-play based game, the core of the entire thing being story telling. You can play online with your friends with the use of websites like Roll20 and DnD Beyond!
When going into a game, you get to make a character, and this character must have a CLASS and a RACE. A Class is what the primary definition of what your character can do. It isn’t just a a profession, it’s your character’s calling and ties HEAVILY into their personality.
Examples of classes: Wizards, Sorcerers, Barbarian, Rogue, Bard…. etc etc.
i.e. Personality wise, typically Barbarians are more strength based and tanky while Wizards are more intelligent, and  magically inclined. they’re usually in the backlines casting spells.
Races are also a fundamental part of your character’s identity! Each race has a distinct appearance, behavior and often range of statistics associated with it. Some examples of faces are: humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, Goliath and ..etc.. literallllllyyyyy so much more. You have a lot of options.
These are important to choose since you will be playing this character for weeks, depending on how long your GM wants to run the campaign. Choose wisely. SO now that you have your race and class, time . to make your CHARACTER SHEET, which looks somethin’ like this…
Tumblr media
You fill this out based on your CLASS abilities (and you most likely have race abilities too!) A lot of sheets are different, but they all have the same stats, just in different places (Personally, I’m used to Roll20′s 5th edition format). You can usually find out what your class can do by looking it up on dnd wiki. Same with with spells! Dnd Beyond has good options.. theres a ton of websites. It’s a matter of preference.. you dont have to go out and buy the 80 dollar book, don’t worry. Some classes don’t have spells, some do, some classes don’t fight with swords, some do! Some are close combat, some re ranged fighters.. So just make sure to read over what you wanna play :]
https://dnd5e.fandom.com/wiki/D%26D_5th_Edition_Wikia here’s what I use . just search (example) “bard” and it’ll get the page for you. Same with spells.. just type in “bard spells”
Once you have all that, you’re ready! Go on and play! You play as your character in the world that your DUNGEON MASTER / GAME MASTER (usually abbreviated as GM / DM ) describes for you. Depending on what you’re doing in and interacting with in your game, you might have to use a set of skills..
Tumblr media
A skill is a capability a character may have, and a specific aspect of an ability score! This is a blank one. This is a picture of my bard’s (Mind you, she is a LEVEL 20 VALOR BARD so this is maxed out. It’s more to give an idea of what it’ll look like when filled out.)
Tumblr media
Depending on the class, what points you put into your ability modifiers (Charisma, Wisdom, Intelligence, Constitution, Dex and Strength) will effect your skills and saving throws.
Tumblr media
Your party is heading into a creepy looking building and you wanna check for traps.. you’d usually roll a PERCEPTION CHECK or an INVESTIGATION CHECK. If your wisdom isn’t as high, you might not roll as well as someone who has their wisdom higher than you! Say you wanna trick or lie to a NPC, your GM may ask you to make a deception, and if your charisma isnt high, they might catch you red handed! It all depends on interaction and roleplay based gaming :) Your GM describes places and situations and people around you, and you choose how to interact.
Now, fighting… when you get into fights, the first thing your DM/GM will say is “roll for intuitive.” It means how fast your character reacts, and this is usually based on your character’s dexterity. Armor class is what the enemy needs to roll to hit you with a melee ability
Here’s my bard’s stuff again!
Tumblr media
Speed is speed. They have 30 ft of moment unless you take your full action to make a DASH ACTION to take 60 ft. When fighting, you get MOVEMENT, an ACTION and a BONUS ACTION. Usually you have to read your class and your abilities which will determine what you can do for these three options. You can swing swords, shoot arrows, cast spells, or even heal your teammates! There are a variety of different things depending on the class and subclass you choose to be .
Anndddd yeah! those are some basics to DND. Its a LOT of reading, a LOT of memorization, but tons of fun. Be patient because it does NOT come easy.. hell, I’m still learning. You really only use the boardgame aspect of it when you’re in a battle. The cool thing about having online games is that you can have visuals to help better the imagination and more detailed maps , or “game boards” to play on. It all takes time, but be patient and willing to learn. Be interactive and be willing to mess up sometimes, because thats all the fun in playing! Sometimes, messing up is the funnest part because it leads the party into ridiculous situations, which has potential for shenanigans :3c . I have a dnd blog if you wanna hear more about my stuff / see my art from my campaign which I’ll slide in here —-> @gay-aasimar . Again, this isn’t everything, But these are the basics to the 5th edition! I hope that helps give you a little insight on how to play dnd, or at least get started. ❤️

Detroit: Become Human - Funny story...
Okay... so Story Time because my friends pointed this out and it’s been fucking with me ever since.
This is the story of how I kinda...sorta wrote/ predicted parts of DBH about...2 years ago. Just hear me out...okay?
So this all started similarly to how DBH started, with that dope-ass demo back in 2012. My 15 year old self became enthralled in it, much like I am now enthralled in the full game. I’ve always loved story telling and had a sort of soft spot for digital modelling. So that demo was a masterpiece to me, it had a great concept and beautiful design. It was a short obsession but it had an impact.
And that was the last piece of news I’d ever hear about it until a month after they released the full game. I remember hearing some rumour that they weren’t gonna make it a full game or something and left it at that. I didn’t hear anything about it’s coverage at E3 because while I like video games, I become absorbed in different obsessions from time to time.
And two years ago I was obsessed with Dungeons and Dragons, the thought of creating a whole world and having others enter it was fascinating. And while I tried to create worlds from scratch, I had a problem.
I had never been too interested in Fantasy things, I liked fantasy characters but tended to focus on too much of the political aspect of fantasy worlds and not the fun stuff like slaying dragons and stuff.
The return of an old obsession began to try and take my focus off of DnD but I wasn’t ready to let it go yet.
So I merged them, DnD didn’t have to be fantasy, I didn’t have to invent a world from scratch and luckily my old obsession had a world pre-designed. Marvel, specifically MCU had a treasure trove of lore and I could take a number of rules from DnD 5e and tweak them to suit the change in genre.
So I started off with a one shot campaign, set in a HYDRA base. My three player characters would be playing themselves and making decision based on how they’d react. They ‘woke up’ in a white plastic robot body. Singular, all three were in the same body, looking through the same eyes and rolling for control over said robot body. It was entertaining to watch them figure out what they hell was going on organically. They quickly met the first NPC an old doctor/sciencist who was a very nervous person. He explained that they’d all been loaded into the same body by accident and that he was just testing out that his creation (the body itself) was working correctly. So my players decided to answer the jumpy doctors questions and let one of them take control as the doctor got them to walk around while still connected to the computer around them by a bunch of wires connected to the back of their neck. The doctor left the room briefly (to report to his superiors) before returning and calmly explaining that he’d need to shut them down before making the rest of the bodies. Yes, this was heavily inspired by the demo but the players didn’t notice or didn’t comment on it at the time. And they genuinely really like the one-shot. So, I started writing more, growing the campaign and expanding my list of NPCs.
Now I know what you’re thinking, “wow...you ripped off the demo and think that counts as writing a whole game” but I never said I wrote the whole story, that would be mental. But as both me and my players have pointed out, there is a large number of similarities which is spooky because as i already stated I didn’t know anything about DBH until almost a month after it’s full release.
The first and most profound is Amanda. Or my Amanda, who’s called Ruth LaRue. Dr. Ruth LaRue, the trio’s psychologist/co-creator who acts pleasant (too pleasant) towards them...unless they disobey or resist their training to become Hydra Assets. One of my players is rebellious and LaRue has tried to manipulate and coldly threatened him as a result. While another obeys and gets praise and rewards as a result. Also she looks like Amanda (a character i didn’t even know existed), I originally described her as the same race, hairstyle, though slightly younger. And then I drew her (poorly) for my players to get a better idea of how she looked and Jesus Christ they look the same.
Another is the fact that I have three player characters. There was a possible fourth player but work and life made it difficult for her to be a part of the game. Also my players are two boys and one girl. And while that’s all freaky, their characters appearances/designs are extra weird. Originally, after all getting their own bodies, they all had white plastic robot bodies, all male design (which female player wasn’t happy about because she missed her boobs). The only way to tell them apart was voice and the nervous doctor had given them different coloured eyes. Creating robots came with the challenge of figuring out how their bodies worked (one player was particularly interested in this). Once again inspiration partly came from the Kara demo, the robots are a water (blue liquid) based system, a pump (heart) transports water, which is collect in bags (lungs) through the robots absorbing moisture in the air (through breathing), around the machine frame (body). The water has two purposes, to thinly coat the white plastic casing (skin), which allowed the robot to feel pressure but not texture and also to keep the pump valves going, which creates the energy the machines (players) are run on. After learning that the white plastic version could be easily broken during training, the nervous doctor created a second batch of models, this time made out of metal (female asked for a female body and therefore the doctor gave her a large dent in her chest plate, she was pleased). They then get a new model, ones that are designed to blend in with humans. And this is where this section gets super freaky. The player got no say in how they looked because in game they wouldn’t.
The female is the shortest model as well as they palest model with loads of freckles, the similarities with Kara stop there but the female player has been gifted a female kitten (thankfully named Cookie, not Alice) as the reward and is quite paranoid about it being taken off her or harmed (calm down, I haven’t hurt the cat...yet).
One of the males is only slightly more tanned than the female with considerably less freckles and markings. He’s the tallest and the player has been surprisingly obedient, only "failing” when he doesn’t understand what’s happen or doesn’t think something will benefit HYDRA. Because of this he’s been promoted to team leader by the powers that be. He’s logical and is usually thinking about training and what’s going on in the NPCs’ heads.
Lastly we have the second male who looks southern European (Spain, Italy, Greece and could probably pass as Mexican but the story is set in central Europe) so a different ethnicity/race to the other two. This is the rebellious player who generally plays pranks, cracks jokes and says “fuck you” to authority. Like I said before as a result, he tends to be the one looked down on and oppressed by the powers that be. He generally has a very clear line which he won’t cross no matter what and is willing to stand up if he views something as drastically wrong (refused to hurt his friends or pick up a gun).
Also when asked what they wanted to be called (I.e What’s your name?) The players decided to to sick to what the nice nervous doctor had designated them, i.e the colours of their eyes. Rebellious is Red. Logical is Blue and Female is Purple (name later changed to Violet).
Next is three more NPCs, who have enough in common with the DBH characters to mess with me.
The nervous doctor, Dr. Thomas Thornley, while having a completely different personality, has formed relationships like Hank. A number of the players refer to him as “Daddy Thornley”, not to his face but when talking to each other in game. And most disturbingly the rebellious player has implied on several occasions that he “ships” the logical male player with father-figure Thornley, jokingly of course. And while in the beginning Thornley may have viewed the robots as a project or experiment, he now appears quite protective and fond of them. Even displaying discomfort when one is broken or completely destroyed.
Their combat and gun trainer, Agent Woodrow who is ex-military and treats the robots exactly like you’d expect he would, like machines. He could either be Gavin or Captain Allen but either way he’s a genuine aggressor and dislikes/hates the robots.
The Head of Hydra, Director Malachi Storm who has an air of mystery around him and commands any room he enters. He’s considerable less creepy than Kamski but is an “all-knowing, all-powerful” character. Also I guess I’m technically also Elijah Kamski (a.k.a GOD) and my players pointed out that i have his sadistic, power hungry play style (thanks, guys).
Lastly is a few game mechanics and events i put in the game. The players have always been able to telepathically talk to one another, they can also transfer images to each other. If broken beyond repair (i.e Killed) they now get automatically rebuilt, similar to Connor. I made LaRue give them a morality test which was mostly the “Track dilemma” which is similar to both the driver-less car AIs and the Kamski test. I actually did the motherfucking Kamski test with one or two of my players (but with humans instead of androids lol). Also the players believe they’re alive (which technically they are). They’ve literally been give zero context as to how they are in robot bodies in the MCU, specifically they’re last memories before the start of the game are of going to sleep in their beds in the real world. They are literally three robots walking around stating that they’re alive.
And yes, I realise that Cage took shit from other movies but it have seen any of those movies so...:P
If I looked hard I could probably find more scary comparisons but a) I don’t particularly want to show all my cards, in case my players read this post, and b) I appear to have written a fucking TED talk out of what was supposed to be a short funny story.

2, 4, 8, 17, 18, 24, 32, 36?
(pick and choose if that’s too many 😅)
thank you!!! once again under the cut because this got long <3
2. what was your first time running a game like?
ohohoho it was genuinely pretty stressful bc i had been wanting to play dnd for a while and wanted my friends to like this cool fun game sooooo bad, but i Was in middle school and that time is mostly forgotten. somehow i remember this very well. the first game i ever ran was in 7th grade and was holiday themed over our school break. it was set during a winter solstice festival in this moderately sized city the party had just arrived at to see what the celebration was about. they did minigame time for a while running around the town, joining in games and celebrating winning little prizes or a few copper, which was a great way to introduce skill checks to a group that had never touched a ttrpg system before bc we were 12-13. i was fumbling around with rules everywhere, and it was suuper messy but we had a great time!! i think it culminated in a scrooge-esque character placing a nasty curse over the town and them having to go to his mansion to idk beat the nasty out of him and his little cult or something <3 the actual dm'ing part was a mess but also super rewarding, and i realized i really enjoyed doing it and cooking up a little game for everyone!
4 & 8 answered here!
17. what is your proudest improvisation moment?
dnd thoughts are like a constant background program running in my brain, so even if i don't write down every monologue or line or narrative moment i think up i'm constantly churning out these moments that make it easier to prep and/or pull out when the tone and timing is right, meaning it's not really improv. i am incredibly proud of the xarus and piper moment before they tried to stop castellane's coup because i did put some thought into what they were going to say, but obviously had to see what xarus' reaction was and couldn't really prep beyond the initiation of the scene. it turned into one of the most intense, emotionally complex scenes culminating in that forehead kiss that i will think about forever, and just, unstoppable force vs immovable object dynamic with xarus' self-sacrifical tendencies and piper's declaration of determination to see him through this fight.
other really proud improvisation moments i think mostly arise during combat. while i think i have a ways to go keeping combat interesting in terms of all the little descriptive moments that happen throughout, i don't prep anything dialogue or description wise and have to do more in the moment that creates them. some of favorites happened in the finale battle for wandering isles including xarus' divine intervention harm spell which manifested as his typical lightning (storm herald barb/tempest cleric multiclass) eye glow this time illuminating thirty feet out from him with the stormlord managing to crack into the demiplane with a huge lightning bolt across castellane's form. this and the tâm and theresa reaching out to/keeping veviri alive and the descriptions of the resurrection and tâm's twin heartbeat (honoring a previous nat 20 to allow this to even happen) were highlights of improvising and the campaign as a whole for me <3
18. funniest improvisation moment?
HOWARD SMOOTHANDS. okay i admit i should've been more prepared but school was a lot and i had spent sooo much time prepping the larger plot stuff where the party was that the simplest, most common dm thing of "hey you should put some people in this tavern in case they go in to ask questions" just sort of slipped my mind, there was a vampire cult happening at a large university you see you must understand. anyway i don't think this was entirely improv bc i remember the name coming from a generator, but i did end up having the on the spot get the atmosphere for this tavern and it was bizarre this was a very rural dilapidated community and they were all super suspicious of the party members that came in and then they met, flirted and slept with howard smoothands the barkeep so everything worked out. i think it is mostly funny because this arc was one of the darkest tone moments in the whole campaign, and it was great to break that up with thirty minutes of a halfling thieves' guild associate named howard smoothands.
24. how long does preparing for a session usually take you? do you chronically under or overprepare?
i don't have an exact number but i also know that it could take much less time than it actually does like most tasks i undertake because well, brain doesn't work great. i think it varies a lot depending on what the party is headed into if i'm running a main campaign, if i'm pulling from other modules to help supplement, running out of a book or completely from a module, etc. for my mostly homebrew stuff some sessions that i know are going to be big battles really only take 30 minutes of setup to get my balance right and everything into roll20 whereas if i'm running a highly individualized session (like one that has dream sequences or trials or highly specific character moments for each pc that i need to conceptualize and write and tweak) that could easily take me 3-4 hours to get finalized.
32. do you have any dice/other mechanic rituals? do you feel like you roll abnormally well (or the opposite)?
i cook my dice for a bit before my games <3 (leaving them on the highest numbers) i also Will Only use the dice or color of dice i associate with an npc when i roll for them. i feel like i roll decently well if not average but there have been Some Nights where it has been insane (double nat 20 for castellane at the dock fight with nyx for example).
36. how do you gear up to run a session? any pregame getting into character/setting moments?
i must admit when school is in i am probably prepping down to the wire on session days, but if i have some time i'll just read over my notes, open my stuff, and maybe listen through the campaign or character playlists
